"Nobody wants anyone to be sacked"
*Port Adelaide fans*
Sack Hinkley - its alright he can watch his greyhounds lose instead of us.
Pretty sure you need to invert the layout of this tier list
Isn't green the universal color for danger in Australia? I just assumed that since everything else was upside down there...
Simpson has already been put under the pump today in the West Australian paper. A scathing editorial piece by Peter Sumich on why is Simmo off on a 2 week coaching education tour and break in the US. Seems a bit harsh after the immense pressure he had this year. Players have up to 8 weeks off each year, yet a coach who works immense hours for 10 years plus (and travels every second week interstate) can't have at least 4 weeks off. Simmo was there for the end of year planning and involved in trading and recruiting discussions and then back into training. Also coaches like Hardwick and Clarkson have gone for long study breaks overseas previously. Yet here we are a few days before Christmas and we have Simmo being smashed in the local media.
Sumich has to create enough clicks to justify being a columnist. Slamming Simmo is a popular past time in WA, even if he did win a flag in 2018. With their record of ineptness in recent years rivalling that of North, he is an easy target. It isn't unreasonable that the head coach gets most of the blame for that.
@@gustaaf1892 Today's paper article was ridiculous. An embarrassment for Suma and the paper. During the season Eddie was saying the Eagles should give him 3 months off LSL. Instead Simmo has a couple of weeks off at end of season and then a coaching tour and break before Christmas. What's wrong with that. Everyone has time off. I think it was difficult to criticise Simmo last year to be honest as the injuries were so critical. My only concern was whether the scale of injuries caused long term scarring to the players psyche, that a new coach could help correct. But from all reports the team is extremely positve and they have a full track. You have guys new in different positions and another batch of kids at the club. The kids are giving it vibrancy and excitement. Sounds like old guys realise they only have 1-3 years left anyway and on contract, so are working hard on mentoring the kids. But lets face it, there are no guys in the mid 20s, so its dependent on kids getting more games and exposure than they deserve and veterans lending their support.
@@BDub2024 As a North supporter I know how you feel. The only way is up and that will be mostly driven by young players starting to make a difference.
@@gustaaf1892 The good thing about the Eagles is that they are extremely stable and well run. At times they become too conservative and same, and then they normally spend up and get new coaches and ideas in... then the improvement comes. But the success comes through the stability not in spite of it. I'm seeing changes to the footy department in the offseason. It will be too tough years, even if no injuries. But they have a clear strategy (as North do) with youth, so its a matter of time. North have all the pillars in place now too.
Love the change up guys! Would like to see more of this going forward.
Thanks Luke! That is the plan!
Vossy is safe that man’s a hero
Sumich is only scathing because he missed out on the coaching job when they didnt sack Simmo .
So "easiest run the win a flag ever" for Brisbane in 2020, is basically equivalent to the run of every Melbourne team to ever exist. Absolute load of tripe. Brisbane bloomed early in their 2019/20 years (way earlier than anyone thought) and you're kidding yourself if you say any punter had them winning it at the start of the year. They simply were too young and inexperienced in 2020 to really take the gabba advantage that we see today in that finals series. Tell me you're Victorian without saying it ....🤡
What are you on about Brisbane where pretty much favrioutes. Everyone was saying if they can't win it up there they probably never will. I think you have very selective memory. Yes you had a younger side but you wouldn't have been the youngest side to win it and if anything you should have ran out the year better being at home and being younger and fresher.
@joshuasadler9243 Completely ignore the first and very true part of OP statement eh.
Not sure where youve put Yze as a Tiges fan, but yeah he has to hit the ground running for me. Like keep this rebuild going well over this year and 2025. But its so early even after McQualter as well, in post Hardwick era to think too much about any pressure too much
To be fair, I don't think any coach would do well with the amount of injuries Adam Simpson has had to deal with over the past 2 seasons. It got so bad we sometimes had 20+ players on the injury list and had to call on amateur players and already-retired Will Schofield to play in our reserves side.
I can't believe people genuinely think that Melbourne are premiership favourites with all their terrible culture, you can't win a flag without good club culture.
True. Too much of a stench not to have something rotten at the Dees.
Collingwood had a shocking culture and won a flag in 2010 and were very successful in that period. They were the party club. Same with North in the 1990s with their heavy drinking. culture. Eagles had their problems in 2004 - 2007 but were successful in that era. Melbourne is a well run and stable club. They just need to rectify forward issues while they have the rest of the side in place. They won't have May and Lever for ever. Bad luck with forwards all falling over at season end, but lets face it Collingwood and Brisbane were really exceptional. Melb has already won a flag in this era, whereas other clubs in that section couldn't get that job done in the last 5 years. Even Collingwood was fumbling around and only got their act together this year.
@@BDub2024there's a bit more too it than just drinking is bad lol. They were allowed a bit of leverage as long as they kept their fitness and abilities in check. Behind the scenes Mick and Eddie took no shit but they understood the players they had were talented and some freedom off field helped them perform on field. It's a balance that we found worked until someone stuffed up. Just like our 1990 team. The essendon players looked at our side like a bunch of drunkards and they mostly were but we still came out and beat a more professional essendon team. Then in the preseason matches we turned up to game drunk and hungover and still knocked them off. Melbourne has a different culture to any of that altogether. Not to mention it's different times now.
@@joshuasadler9243 You had the Collingwood CEO during the era expressing concerns about drug use in the AFL system, but there were some clear concerns about Collingwood's behaviour in that period. My point relates to the stupid comment about Melbourne. It wasn't particularly to criticise clubs like Collingwood.
@@BDub2024 I get it wasn't criticism. All I'm saying unlike Melbourne we made it work for the most part as we were usually a decent side and always responded on field when scrutiny hit. This Melbourne debacle could get a whole lot worse as we are only really seeing the scratches on the surface and they are doing everything to hide it all.
Why is Horse from Harbour town shielded from criticism?
Hinkley has been at the helm at Port Adelaide since 2013 and not single grand final appearance let alone a premiership.
Has there ever been a coach that has remained as senior coach for over a decade without a Grand Final appearance and survived?
100% Hinkley is protected from media scrutiny.. should have sacked him last yr .
I reckon Longmire has been there too long. But he plays a manager role and delegates well. Who will replace Pyke though.
Clarko won't leave with the amount of elite young talent he gets to work with at North. Not just Wardlaw, but also McKercher, Sheezel, Duursma and George. The second half of the season is when people will start to see how good North could become if they manage to keep hold of all their best players and Clarko will want to see if he can win a Premiership with them in the coming years.
I agree
Not to mention all their first round picks that are yet to play
Agree, the man is 55. They're talking about him as if he's 70. I feel if anyone Clarko is meticulous with his personal development and will manage his health and wellness. His best mate Fagan is a dinosaur and Clarko just watched him make the GF with a group of young kids he saw through. Clarko is where Fagan was 5 years ago, no chance he bails on it after going through hell last year.
Goodwin is nowhere near safe. The buck stops with the coach and in that regard he has massively under performed. Player attitudes are suspect. Poor game day coaching. Needs a big 2024.
Recent flag winners are almost always safe.
Scott won a flag two years ago and his list is old. He has shown sticking with him nets results - never had a bad season, really. Geelong would be mad to move on unless he wants it.
McRae could go 0-23 next year and Collingwood wouldn’t care.
Most under pressure should be Simpson but West Coast don’t seem to care about how abysmally the club is going.
We would care if we went 0-23 lol. Pies fans know their club and something seriously disastrous would of had to have happened so questions would be asked but we'd also assume it was more to do with things out of McRaes hands.
Yze is more safe than Hardwick. Everyone expects Richmond to fall between 7-15. That means a total failure of the year wouldn't result in pressure on the coach.
Good discussion. Lonmire the safest by a million miles, the most consistant coach of the decade, to think there is a possability he retires mid season is insanity. Goodwin, if things go poorly sureley he could be sacked, forget about the premiership acheivement Goodwin has created a terrible culture. Bevo needs a big 24. Fagan probably safe, has improved the club enourmously and remember they were very competative in the Grand Final. Good job though guys. Keep pumping these out, more interesting than some of the network shows.
You guys need to get some content from sam maclure.
Better then anything Cornes put out last year !!!
More of the bois please
Lol, NOT, Cornes played the game, knows his stuff, just because he hurts your feelings doesn't mean he's wrong, and he admits it when he is, a better man than most I'd say.
@@Power_Prawnstar Hey Cornes mum, calm down. I never attacked anything he said or did. I just enjoy the every-man way these guys go about it.
I'm sorry you must have got butt hurt from other comments others made in the past, but don't add things to what a said.
@@SirFluffy100 Sure, so you just give him a drive bye for no reason, petty I reckon
Hmm Adam Simpson won a premiership in 2018 … which is more than Hinkley, Nicks , Fagan ??? Why do they get more time?
That's 5 seasons ago and since then he's won a wooden spoon - not really taking the team in the right direction.
Fagan was a couple of poor umpiring decisions away from being a premiership coach. He’s safe.
what is with the doppy background music
Only thing you need is some face cams and this is a high quality TH-cam video format
Thanks!
Background music totally sucks
The colours are all wrong! Red should be the hot seat not fully safe
We went with the standard layout. Didn’t wanna rock the boat 😂
But feedback noted
Whoever thinks Melbourne are premiership favourites are crazy. Out in straight sets TWICE.
Yeh right clarko will walk away 😂 where did these blokes come from
Agree about Clarkson. Not sure he still has what it takes to be a great AFL coach. Racism saga aside, he seems to be lacking motivation and drive, and his gameplan for much of last year left a lot to be desired. If he is intent on hanging around, he needs to reinvent himself and quickly.
I can get behind everything in this other than the blatant overrated of Melbourne list.
I could imagine a world where Geelong has a bad year and Scott gets moved on - I would have put him in "if things go poorly".
I think Clarkson's safeness is reliant on himself - North is behind him, but I could imagine firstly the situation described where he's sick of it, but more to the point I could imagine him attracting some sort of controversy that makes his spot untenable.
I could believe Fagan going if things went poorly - but they'd have to go *very* poorly. He's in a Hinkley category in terms of being around the mark but missing out - I think if they make the top 4 he's definitely safe. I think if they make the 8 he's probably safe. I think it needs a disastrous year for him to go (and even that would be after the season not during)
Melbourne has backed Goodwin from the get-go (people were calling for him to be sacked almost as long as he's been there - and during 2020). I think the pressure is starting to build, I think he's *probably* safe, but I can see "if things go poorly".
Agree with Hinkley - very little short of a Premiership will save him. But I think Port actually messed up with him, because they deferred his contract talks late into the season - they would have looked silly not resigning him the position he was in in August, and yet not long afterward things fell apart for them.
Bit surprised with their assessment of Longmire. I think if they fail to bounce back next year he's in trouble - they very nearly missed finals last year. He's probably safe, but "3rd safest in the AFL" is a massive call.
Someone at SEN watches Benchwarmer Bran...
Spot on about Hinkley. Seriously lacking with what's needed to coach Port into winning finals footy and it became very clear and certain in September this year. Out in straight sets when they'd dominated for most of the year. The flaws at Port are certain and are very telling in that respect and what's worse is that Ken has basically been set up as the ultimate scapegoat come worst case scenario which is if Port finish outside the top 8 in 2024.
At one point in time, Port will need to take a risk.
I never thought PA would get far in Finals. Being a PA supporter myself I wanted to. I could see way to many holes in our team which in finals we would likely struggle with (And I was right) I and being positive that the talls we have brought in will hopefully improve us and not make us go backwards.
I think it's time for a change, but, Kenny couldn't kick the ball for them in the prelims we lost by a kick. That's on the players.
@@chook2870 Its hard when a team like the Power are so close, yet so far.
@@BDub2024 Agreed. But always gotta be hopefull for the next season.
Voss's is fully safe, only an idiot would think otherwise
Chris Fagin is so safe , he has been in the finals and improving every year, you guys are so wrong he's safe as the club love him players will die for him, get it right.
I think your spot on but a bad year or bad finals run and some questions would be asked if he's a coach that could win the big one.
wow my opinions are so different to this... also if eagles win the spoon again next year it wont be 3 in a row ftr
Yep our mistake! West Coast finished 17th in 2022, sitting just above North Melbourne on percentage as both teams finished the season with just two wins!
@@SENSportsAFL You're a bit off with the Eagles actually. Their main problems was a lack of available players in the last 2 years. Freakish injuries combined with older guys struggling with injuries (in Perth careers are just cut short due to extensive travel, its just a fact). The guys in the mid 20s haven't been good enough and they're gone. Its all out youth being overseen by the veterans. Its been a very good offseason and a lot of positivity. Seeing your comments seemed as if you were commenting from thousands of kms away. Have you been tracking the teams in the offseason?
@@BDub2024you guys will do terribly again. Come back to me in 6 months and tell me how good your off season was.
@@joshuasadler9243 As I've said 24 and 25 are going to be our bottoming out years. Its just that injuries and covid struck us down two years earlier. But the blessing in disguise is all the young pick ups and all the games given to kids that aren't ready for it. So that will help them in the long time and will fast track development before the Tassie team joins. But fact is that there are no guys in the mid 20s, so as the veterans retire it will just be reliant on 20 year olds... So it will be slow but Eagles have faith that the club is well organised and have a clear plan. That's critically important as there is a clear consistent approach.
@@BDub2024 can't argue with anything your saying there. I don't know about completely bottoming out I think that may have already happened and you just might find yourself a couple of positions up the ladder but nothing much more than that over the next couple of seasons. As for having no mid 20 players I'd argue they are generally the most recruited players age bracket wise so you can always fill the holes as they appear with some good insight and trades.
That Fagan placement is laughable. He's proved he's a great coach, you don't sack a great coach just cos
If you are going to make this a regular thing, don't spend 39 minutes telling people the complete obvious.
If you don’t like it don’t watch. at lease its content. Theres other worse stuff that comes out.
@@samr9198 If I don't watch it then I won't find out that Beveridge is under pressure next year and Craig McRae isn't.
@@samr9198you kinda have to watch it to see if it's any good tho don't you 😂
I think many port fans want hinkley to be sacked
Hasn't won a knock out final since 2014 why would we want him.
As freo fan I am sick and tired of the young list excuse the coaching staff need to provide a better game plan imo
this comment aged nicely
Can someone tell me why a 21 year old number one draft pick key position forward "should be a star in the league"?
Voss under pressure?
Absolutely! did you not see the Carlton fans halfway through the season? They will be quick to turn on him if things don't go right, especially now that they believe that they will be competing for a flag.
Desy, Showing your ignorance
@@Maxiaktwhat did he say that was ignorant and untrue?
@@joshuasadler9243 he’s just a Carlton nuffy who clearly can’t handle criticism 😅
Bye Simmo 👋🏼
Simpson and Voss. If Carlton miss the finals Voss is gone
It's all good boys, doubt Port, that's how we like it.
Everything they said is true. They get found out regularly come finals time. One premiership 20 years ago and not one GF appearance in 17 years. They’ve massively under achieved considering how often they’ve played finals.
@@JCStorm76 Not everything, but yeah, we've not done as we should have, I blame Charlie Dixon, his kicking for goal has cost us both a prelim and grand final birth, never kicked 50 goals in a season, pretty hard to win anything with him up forward.
@@Power_Prawnstar He’s overrated. He’s more a barometer for the team than a big goal kicker, he’s handy though. As a Collingwood supporter I thought we were going to play you in the GF up until late in the season. I think we broke your spirit that second time we beat you. You probably should have won that game, we didn’t even really play that special i didn’t think but we always just find a way to win. Your list is still good enough to finish 4th to 6th next season.
@@JCStorm76 Yeah, that loss to you guys broke our soul for some reason.
You're wrong with Eagles. They've just come off two years with Covid and injuries, where much of the time they only had 25 fit players available. So you can't even do proper training drills as you'd have less on the track. Their best experienced guys were out, so had to rely on kids and guys in early-mid 20s clearly not up to it. So they've wiped out the guys in the mid 20s and are now kids and veterans. There is a real positivity there currently and there has been a lot of change in roles at the club, while keeping the stability. Fact is that the last 2 years were decimated by injuries but 2024 and 2025 are probably going to be the toughest years. But with less injuries we should be playing better. Its been a blessing in disguise the injuries as Eagles have had exposure to early draft picks in national and midseason draft. Kids have been gifted games and played in major roles. The interesting thing is that due to travel Eagles and Dockers will always have shorter careers on average. So as guys get into their late 20s its inevitable that the injuries will arise and careers will be shortened. So the national draft is always important.
you said the saints wouldn't make the 8 last year too and they wouldn't play finals you need to stop predicting.
Clarko will walk away yeah after he wins a flag
The minority of idiots who wanted Voss sacked from the blues have all eaten their words so I say he's fully safe
