    Please note - I have since found out the Carbon ceramic brakes aren't standard on the G80 M3 CS, doesn't change my option on it's value though!

    What a package of a car. It's almost the perfect stepping stone from a JCW when you grow up or are expected to be more mature. Love it and the seats, wish my Jag performance seats were carbon just for the bling.

    I agree that it is better value than the regular M3 for the reasons you cited. Sure, some will say you can tune the car, etc but with the M3 CS, you're getting the manufacturer's refinements. No fiddling, no worrying about warranty support, no need to declare modifications to your insurance company and, most of all, the exclusivity, all of which translate to better residual value.

    Another wonderful review …. I’m one of the lucky 75 in the UK. You did the same maths as I did that’s why I ordered one. Was worried that it wouldn’t be too different to my current G81 (great car) but fantastic to know that it’s different enough. Worried about those radiators and that grille too, is there anyone out there that does a mesh or something? I’ve gone with Brooklyn Grey, Bronze Gold wheels and red ceramics. Can’t wait till October now! Keep up the fantastic reviews.

    All my life I have not been keen on white coloured cars. That changes today. The M3 CS looks so good in that frozen white paint job. And what a car it is. Another CS gem from BMW and kudos to Joe to wasting no time giving us the first drive.

    12:22 omg that is one of the most brutal launches I have seen from an M3. Wow. This is a damn 3 series and you’re getting super car levels of acceleration. 👏👏👏 Also BMW just knows how to tune that ZF 8-speed and turn it into basically a torque-converted dual clutch transmission. The shifts are so quick, the ratios are so closely spaced together for the engine to be in the powerband, and this thing just takes off. Wow BMW. That's nuts.

    Great review Joe - I think I'd have the M5CS myself as well, money being no object. I saw one here in the Pacific NW when I was crossing the border from Oregon to Washington and was able to snap a photo

    Why bother with the CSL? Great bit of kit, my only mini moan is the sound. So many M cars just don’t sound that great these days, a bit drowny and bass heavy, gone is that really exotic crisp straight 6 pure sound.
    I think my 2017 M240i genuinely sounds better.
    Great video though, keep em coming. And lots of TH-cam guys are also saying the same about the viewing figure drop.
    Shorts are ok but I prefer these videos and Harry’s garage with proper content 👍

    G80 m3 is honestly in a league of its own in the sub 100k price bracket. No car comes close to its overall package interior and performance. BMW ontop right now, Mercedes and Audi slacking

    Really sorry to hear about the challenges with channel growth Joe, but please keep doing what you are doing! I come to YT for long form high quality content like yours which is from the very top draw of car YT as far as I’m concerned. Quality will I’m sure win long term so please persevere whilst the algo is messing about with shorts which I am sure won’t last in its current form.

    Feel the same about the TH-cam shorts. Good review I got my cs last month and I feel like it’s the best deal m3 since it will most likely hold value better as well.
    It’s more connected to the road and it does feel faster

      Doesn't look right does it? Might look better in real life perhaps, but the fussy wheels look too small, the red highlights are horrific and the carbon bits and stripes are just too much for me

    Great review Joe! These cars are so quick. Those Pilot Sport 4S tyres just give incredible traction. No wheel spin just perfect launch. Given the number of super high-performance cars with them and their ability to grip dry or wet, Michellin transform so many cars! Makes you wonder why any manufacturer would fit anything different if you have, 19", 20" or 21" wheels.

      There’s a super interesting story behind the PS4s that come on the G80. Tyre Reviews does an awesome video of it on TH-cam. BMW worked with Michelin to make a custom set of PS4s tires just for the G8X.

    I wish BMW M cars excited me like they used to. I walked straight past a new M2 and an M3 Touring in a showroom yesterday to get to a different brand. Never thought I’d see that day. Automatics, clumsy styling, giant touchscreens, a thousand driving modes and too much weight just aren’t my bag is a sports car. There remains a fantastic back catalogue and that’s where my interest in BMW lies these days.

      Couldn’t agree more Colin. I think I’m just getting old and grumpy, starting to give the whole ‘back in my day’ 🤣🤣. I just can’t take to the new front end, particularly after the beautiful lines of the F80, F90 etc. I still enjoy the old analog dash/guages, and I honestly think that is why I love the previous models, it was the perfect balance/transition between old and new.

    Thank you Joe! How does the suspension and steering in this CS compare with a G80 comp on carbon ceramics? I know they can improve on some of the characteristics you've discussed. Hoping to differentiate effects of CS-specific tuning vs brake type

    I think the shorts aren’t a replacement, they’re an addition. We get the real reviews to enjoy and learn and small shorts to enjoy when we want a few 10-30 second videos to spam at once

    You forgot the carbon fiber boot is standard. Also, the lack of steering feel can be improved upon via aftermarket monoballs.

    I still think the weight and cost increase of the G80/ G82 cars makes the the F82 M3/M4CS and M2CS series cars look way better value for their money (M4CS is 460bhp/600nm of torque and weighs in at 1580kgs). I think BMW have missed a trick with the new CS and CSL’s to give them legendary status like the E46 CSL.
    The 4 wheel drive systems on the G80/82 cars has without doubt improved the performance through grip rather than power and weight. Four wheel drive is always compromised in performance cars and there is always a noticeable lack of feel on the front end (like the Audi R8)
    I just think the G80 ‘specials’ could have been so much better and can’t help feeling BMW needed to bring those cars in around 1700kgs to make them standout collectible cars.
    I would suggest buyers save their money and buy an F82 M3/ M4CS or M2 CS which are stonking performers and sound better. The G80 cars aren’t a big enough improvement overall to justify their premium imo - (driven an M4 CSL and I own an M4CS)
    I also don’t like the dash in the new one:-)

      The new G80/G82 drive way better than the F Generation and you get the daily usability with xdrive. The quality in the interior has also massively improved…not sure how i feel about the big screen tho

    I cant believe BMW still removes the armrest and cupholders from CS models. This is a 3900lb AWD sedan, not a crazy track special. Not even a GT3 RS removes those.

    Faster 0-30mph than an M5 CS, I wonder if the 0-60mph is correct though because that looked faster than an M5 CS

      It looked faster? Lol what. He timed both cars and got 2.75 in the M5 CS. I’m pretty sure he’s using VBox with 1ft rollout - so this will be .2s or so slower if you use a Dragy as a general note but either way he timed faster with the M5.

    For daily usage I'd take this over the M5CS and it also takes more passengers than the M5CS and I believe it's lighter almost in all manners possible even on fuel.

      Well I can’t argued against M5 CS as a daily but I’ve seen a few other reviews of the new g80 cs compared to the m5 cs and they found the official weights listed by bmw aren’t exactly accurate. They found w fuel the m5 cs is 1905kg while the m3 cs is much lighter at around 1780 kg. M3 def is def set up more for track loved to see Joe review it there too

    Utterly, gob smackingly stunning car! The only thing i dont like is todays obsession with having a tablet instead of classier looking gauges incorporated into a beautiful flowing dashboard. Instead it looks like theyve just given up and instead just stick a gaudy, tacky tablet in front of the driver. It lets down every single modern dash.

    I also recently purchased the M3 CS, but to be honest, for daily driving, I feel like the i4 M50 or even the iX50 even though completely different cars might possibly be better options. Funny, isn't it? 😅

      The no cupholders or center console armrest should’ve told you what you needed. If you wanted a daily you should’ve got the M3 Competition Xdrive

      I used to have an M4 Competition Package xDrive. It wasn't bad for daily driving, but it left me somewhat undecided. It wasn't a car that stood out. It didn't have the same mechanical feel as a Porsche, and the mid-range torque was also weak. I didn't want to engage in the idiotic practice of ECU reflashes, spacers, and modifications like some of you do. That's why I ended up getting the M3 CS.
      Would I go back to a regular M3 after experiencing the CS? If I had the money, the Cayenne Turbo GT seemed tempting. Nevertheless, buying the M3 CS gave me peace of mind compared to the more common M3 models. Around 30 years ago, it wasn't just any car that anyone could drive.

    I'm watching this over here in Dubai, quickly looked on the Autotrader equivalent and there's an identical white CS(albeit a left hooker) with a mere 068 km on for 888,000 AED. That's over 190 k real money.... guess ill be keeping my F80 Comp for a little while longer...

    Fantastic video Joe. What’s your opinion on the BMW habit (and Porsche’s) of different front and rear wheel sizes (diameter rather than width)? It always looks slightly odd to me.

    to be honest , the previous M3 side fenders and side design was much much better and futuristic comparing to this M3 CS .
    the only thing intrigued me about this generation is it's back design and nothing else .

    Apologies Joe - ‘been watching for a while without subscribing and giving the 👍🏼. Love the videos - but still more of an Alpina fan - don’t have the urge or ability to test the envelope or distinguish the difference of M iterations. Prefer very swift and comfort+.

    Has BMW ever had a better range of M saloon cars than the current M2, M3/M4 and M5? All are absolutely brilliant, and not just great performance cars, but great all-rounders too. Then you have the CSs and CSLs which just crank the volume up to 11. It's probably not a far stretch to say that BMW has the finest range of performance cars currently on sale from any marque. The next generation of M cars will have a tough act to follow, starting with the next M5.
