Yes the saloon is cool, but the Touring is the Driver’s SUV and will have a cult following. The Touring is late to the fast-wagon party, but will be worth the wait.
It’s sad that Grillez mk2 is being traded in but mk3 will be a standout machine. I’ve really enjoyed how you’ve documented both the rear drive and all wheel drive cars in such detail. Looking forward to what you have planned with the Touring.
Agree about the poor low down torque. Prefer the B58 for greater speed sensation up to 60mph. Overall the G80/82 is a specimen. Brakes, handling, front end at low speed are all ace.
Very much looking forward to seeing the touring. Enjoyed the video. You say - 1. You’d loose your license 2. UK roads are too busy I’ll add 3. The M3 (and many other modern performance cars) is just too quick for the public road. BMW, Audi & Mercedes are still obsessed with an arms race. For me, it’s all about the quality of the journey and not how fast it can be completed. Love your videos, especially when you venture away from M products 👍
As you say in your video, they loosen up considerably from 8000-18000 miles. From previous BMW's post first service there is normally a marked improvement in freedom of revving for the engine.
I had the same question re buckets. The wear that I can see just helped me realize I made the right decision. Love the look of the buckets but I am scared of any damage not from me but others getting in and out.
I went from a 2020 RS5 to a 2023 Jahare M3 Comp X Drive and not once have I wish I had dials for the climate control. The only thing I do miss is the Alcantara wrapped steering wheel.
Best thing about an M3 is its flexibility to be all things. Would be really interested to see Michelin Cross climate on an M3 that you could keep on all year everywhere.
I think if you would want the BMW M3 Xdrive a little more spiced up, go for the CS. Or get the Touring and get a remap, remove unsprung weight from tires, get a wrap on the roof and Improve the brakes. You will definitely feel almost no difference then
I too want to do more mountain biking this year - last year I did Bike Park Wales for the first time and it's given me the bug again - but instead of a wagon I bought a Macan GTS! I got fed up of scraping the bottom of my car every time I pulled into a rural road or trail centre carpark in Scotland!
I have always liked the G80 M3 and I can not wait to get my own. I was leaning towards an M5 but with size of the M3 is great! Now just have to figure out which one! Although no touring here in the U.S.
Whilst I can absolutely appreciate the technical brilliance and quality of the materials used in this car, I am left emotionally unmoved by the design inside and out. It feels clinical, like the car was born in a laboratory. I get that it is very popular, but you could not pay me yo own one of these. Better than an EV though.
Good video Joe - once again. Would love to have this kind of M3x but emission taxes in country where I live will give this car a massive +150k€ price tag..
Hi Joe don't worry about my question below - I just watched your X-drive vs rear drive M3, thanks ! Now my list is down to M2 vs M3 X-drive as a daily. What do you think about the differences between those two M cars ? which one is more fun to drive? I watched you M2 video as well, you seem to think the front end turn in is better in the M3 and M4
This is a great car, under appreciated due to the looks controversy. I think it looks fine. In future it's distinctive looks may even attract over more 'boring' BMWs. But I wanted to say it's just so well sorted. It drives well, is somewhat involving, very fast, and the interior including iDrive 7 is simple but functional, ergonomic and with nice materials well put together as anyone will know who's sat in one for a while. Even the rear leg room while not luxurious is decent. It's a very good all round car.
Nicely spec'd Joe & the best colour too 👌🏻.... the suspension work sets it off really well. I had a skyscraper greyTouring to prep for delivery about 3 weeks ago & I think it rides better than the saloon. Be ready for gathering a crowd..... when I fuelled it, there were quite a few fans around it by the time I came out of the station after paying....!
Nice video, Joe. You made some nice touches to that M3 saloon. I really do hope you like your coming M3 Touring as sometimes i have the impression that there are things with the latest Beemers that u'd like be different. I know "top gear" is your passion (and job) but i think you would've still been happy with a fully kitted-out M340i for the daily as you still have your M2 for thrills & spills. Maybe i'm just poor & getting old... In any case i'm a bit luke-warm with the new 3-Series, BMW do great power-trains and good enough handling but they're not as good as they could/*should* be for the price IMHO - not even the best practicality-wise even for an estate. Still i know you'll have a blast and look-forward to your upcoming videos.
Hi Joe, another great review thank you! I know it's an older video but I am looking at M2's, M3 & M4 competitions vs M3 and M4 competition X drive's and wondering if you can help. I am going to be using the car as a daily driver and although all wheel drive is nice, the driving pleasure / dynamics are more important to me. So if the X-drive models don't give up too much in terms of steering and on road feel I would be inclined to go that route, however if the rear drive are much better including an M2 for fun driving then I would go that route. Test drove the M2 in auto and manual and I prefer the auto for a daily, unfortunately my dealer did not have rear drive competition or X drive competition M4's or M3's in stock. The only car they have coming in is a M4 Competition X drive cabriolet and that doesn't interest me, not sure if the added weight would be representative of how the non cabriolet X drive's would be. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
Sad to see the mk2 GRILLZ leave, but I’m not going to lie, the new M3s have really grown on me. At launch I first hated the looks but now, I actually really love it now, except in that hideous lime yellow colour. Every time I see that colour I want to puke 🤮. Also can’t wait to see the touring version of this car, looks very promising. A fast family car
That sound 🥰 hope you will put these things on your Touring too?! Great car, great specs and great reviews! Looking forward to seeing Touring ones too!
@ Joe. Im thinking of lowering the front of my G80 with Eibach and adding 10mm spacers all round. Did you notice any negative effects to the handling ?
Hey joe, the Eibach springs you have are they for the xdrive car ? Because i looked everywhere and Eibach have it only for the rear drive m3’s, I couldn’t find even on their website ! + how is the driving compared to stock ? And also any sounds or rubbing ?
Great content as always Joe. Inspired by your previous videos, I have the M340i with the Individual Fiona Red leather, I wondered how you clean the jeans stains off the red leather.
I prefer the interior on your M3 than the interior that will be on the touring. In my opinion the one large big screen makes the interior look super tacky and less sporty
Hope you enjoyed this Goodbye video on my M3 Competition xDrive. Would you prefer the M3 saloon or M3 Touring?
I recently drove an M3 saloon and it was an insane beast !! 😈😈
Prefer M4
Yes the saloon is cool, but the Touring is the Driver’s SUV and will have a cult following. The Touring is late to the fast-wagon party, but will be worth the wait.
Touring perfect everyday car
Still think saloon looks better, and carbon roof looks cool. Thinking of getting one myself!! ??
It’s sad that Grillez mk2 is being traded in but mk3 will be a standout machine. I’ve really enjoyed how you’ve documented both the rear drive and all wheel drive cars in such detail. Looking forward to what you have planned with the Touring.
Thank you buddy, glad you've enjoyed the journey so far... Bring on the Touring 👌
U can tell how good the car is just from Joe smiling and enjoying it even after 8500 miles, just like when he picked up the car since day 1 :))
I’m loving my G82 Comp RWD. I’m glad you got the touring! It isn’t an option in America haha. Enjoy it!
I'm sad to see her go, but I'm willing to give touring a chance. Great content
👊👊
Joe I have to thank you, as you inspired me to get my M2 Competition. Thank you and hope you continues success. 🙏🏻
Ahh great to hear bro, congratulations 👊
amazing
How dare you. Unsubscribed. Edit; Oh, you're getting a touring. Resubscribed
🤣🤣🤣👌👊
@@JoeAchilles1 so sad us don’t get the touring
If you was a subscriber you’d know he ordered the touring months ago

10 months already holy shit. Seems like just yesterday you were specing it out with Tony. Congrats yet again.

I had a M4 Comp Xdrive for about 3 months. Just a great car. Very good technology inside as well which is not always the case with BMW.
Very much looking forward to seeing the touring.
Enjoyed the video. You say -
1. You’d loose your license
2. UK roads are too busy
I’ll add
3. The M3 (and many other modern performance cars) is just too quick for the public road.

Love your videos, especially when you venture away from M products 👍
Great summary video Joe. Much enjoyed a lap of Goodwood in the monsoon rain, hitting 120mph! It’s certainly a very quick car!
Great video Joe! Can’t wait to see the touring in the flesh!!
Cheers bro, me too 😬👊
Joe is living the dream driving multiple hundred K plus cars.. excellent work sir..
Nice little touches you added to what is already a excellent bit of kit. Win!
Eek - controversy alert…. Saloon much better looking than the touring! Look forward to the reports Joe!
Yep. People tend to drag themselves across the edge of seats, some people will sit on the bolsters too…

even with it's stock rims, it is mega beautiful especially with those colors!
Just got my lci 330e, the new screen set up is a massive difference vs the original interior screens. Assuming your touring will have the new interior
The touring is gonna look so much cooler, definetly will stand out more.
Can’t wait till I get mine! This car is absolutely stunning
I've recently discovered your channel and I must say I'm really impressed by the top quality of your reviews !!!
It doesn’t matter if the touring feels different, it’s just going to be unreal regardless

People that actually own them think they are good.
🥲... Excited to see the Touring though. Loved the G80 adventures, Joe. Keep up the outstanding work!

Yikes, that's painfully expensive!
Congrats on the M3 Touring Joe

Good vid! I'm about 250mi from my break-in service. Think I need to pick up some mud flaps for the Colorado winters.

Really good videos Joe! And your English is perfect. Keep up with the good work!
That is a proper mad looking M3. It even looks better when dirty🤣🤣
Does all of the “mods” like exhaust and air intake, invalidate the bmw warranty? They are gorgeous but I’m wondering if it will effect it
M3 Touring incoming 👌🏽
Not long now....
The car looks phenomenal with the lowered springs. How long do you think you'll keep the Touring?
I'm going to see how I get on with it, I want to eventually buy an individual M3 T ;-)
the stance of this car is amazing
Looks great but the touring will be amazing.
2022comp m3, getting the garage ready for it in the fall

Joe. You are spoiled.. but you deserve it. BMW wins with your ownership reviews in spades. Another fantastic video!
So tempted to change from my 2021 M440i GC to an M3...
Amazing M3 Joe !! 😁😁😎😎
Thank you, she will be missed!
Great content mate!
That sound 🥰 hope you will put these things on your Touring too?! Great car, great specs and great reviews! Looking forward to seeing Touring ones too!
Hey Joe, love your videos, thanks ! Quick question, you wouldn't go for the carbon ceramic brakes ?
Thanks man! I would if I could afford/justify them, just soooo expensive 😬
Looking forward to your next car 😊 another great video buddy
What would be insane if they made the Wagon in a manual. That would be absolutely incredible 💯
@ Joe. Im thinking of lowering the front of my G80 with Eibach and adding 10mm spacers all round. Did you notice any negative effects to the handling ?
Do all these mods not void bmw warranty joe?
Hi Joe, Great video . Can you get a MTB on the g80 with a roof rack ?
Politely liked, I was long ago subscribed.
Beautiful specc'd car. Did you have to have the car mapped for the exhaust mod and the air intake mod?
Perfect M3. Do the mods impact your warranty in any way?
Thank you! Some are in a grey area, ask your dealership for clarity 👌
Can’t wait for you to get thatTouring, my dream car. Super stoked for you Joe.
My fast estate and my Specialised Enduro are a great combo.
Stock wheels are better anyway IMO!
Ultimate sports sedan with that xdrive now maybe m550 for a milder experience
That car is incredible ❤
Hi joe - why do you have to take car back to stock when return? Wouldn’t that setup be appreciated by new owner?
Any tips on making a pothole claim from the council?? I buckled one of mine the other week, heartwrenching moment!
3rd day of ownership of my touring, I hit a pothole and blew a tyre with 250 miles on the clock. Fuming.
Can you please tell me where I could buy this splitter? I want to put it on the M3 touring
Absolutely, it's from AutoID in the UK 👌
@@JoeAchilles1 thanks mate 👍
Another great video Joe, cant wait to hear what you think to th G81.
You’re set up looks so good, I was set on the m4 but now I’m really questioning my decision😭
What's the trade in value on these after 10 months of ownership, is depreciation bad after such a shirt time?
Standard wheels look so much better.👌
Hey joe, the Eibach springs you have are they for the xdrive car ? Because i looked everywhere and Eibach have it only for the rear drive m3’s, I couldn’t find even on their website ! + how is the driving compared to stock ? And also any sounds or rubbing ?
do you need to inform the insurance company re: the minor modifications done?
Will miss this car too, and it isn't even mine!! Rwd/xdrive/touring, what's next.??
Bishops stortford services m11? I smashed 2 tyres there last week lol
Solution to the touring performance being slightly worse than this one is some performance mods 😏
Great content as always Joe. Inspired by your previous videos, I have the M340i with the Individual Fiona Red leather, I wondered how you clean the jeans stains off the red leather.
Why did you not use ceramic pros this time?
is it possible you got the stone chips along the side, because you used spacer disks? thus needing the mudflaps?
I need those mudflaps on my M3 Comp! Where did you say you got them? Cheers from Sweden.
Nice one Joe fantastic car 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Great vid! Can I ask, how different are the m340d and 330d, as on the market for a new car but can't decide 🙃
Does the spacers affect handling performance?
I prefer the interior on your M3 than the interior that will be on the touring. In my opinion the one large big screen makes the interior look super tacky and less sporty
Own one
I've never had car finance so as long as you have paid 50% of the price of the finance you can return it ? I've always liked touring bmw's
Why get a touring? Its just an estate car?.. a worse car.. ?
Would love to know where that road is!
...."When you are below 2.5K RPM," I'm literally never that low down in the RPM band :)
