I really enjoy your calm and detailled way of speaking! it is kind of comforting and your videos are always informative. thanks! Can you recommend a pen for a Samsung Tab A 10.1 btw? It does not work with a S-Pen sadly. Would love to hear your recommendation!
Lana - It looks like you're trying to use your S-Pen with the tablet. It doesn't work as you may have found. However, Samsung does have a tablet of that size and with a S-Pen. Actually, you have to buy the model that specifically says 'with S-Pen'. It's works great if you want to draw with the tablet.
I think many people will buy this iPad and never cares about specifications just because the price. And this never became a bad thing because this iPad still a good product actually.
Tzu-Yi Lin agree. When the iPad first came it too expensive for me. At this price I don’t really care for specs. Just got my first tablet the other day and it’s perfect for my needs and at $350 I’m happy
I had an interesting idea regarding the not laminated display. Apple heavily advertised this model for kids, kids brake or scratch things much more easily - so with a non laminated display it’s much easier and less expensive to exchange it when a mishap actually happens ;)
Kendall Derequesens yes it was specifically advertised to kids students and people who wanted a iPad for a good price. It’s easy to fix and replace and does a lot of things for the price
I compared the two devices in the App Store store and the truth is the difference between the two is minimal. My own opinion is that for 90% of users the IPad 2018 is sufficient unless one is a spec freak. The screens side by side are not really so different. The speed comparing the two is unnoticeable for average use. I bought the IPad 2018 because the for the average none professional use the IPad is adequate and the IPad 2018 is more portable and seems more solid
Imma mostly use it for taking notes in college coz taking notes on a MacBook (or any laptop (keyboard essentially)) is not a very good experience. Also, this is gonna be my first iPad, so yeah! Guess I’ll like it. I do most of my pro stuff in my laptop which includes video editing and programming so, it’ll work.
Yawarrr for me it’s more so taking notes for courses like math or physics isn’t possible with a keyboard because there’s a lot of formulas and diagrams so I like using the Apple Pencil and syncing my notes to a cloud
even with all the cons you listen i’ve never had a ipad and the only kind i’ve been interested in is the ipad pro + pencil because im an artist. i just couldnt afford it at all. this is amazing for me because i can get an ipad at a low price (for me) with a pencil.
I just got this iPad and I can say that I’ve had a lot of fun with it so far. It’s so cool and I honestly don’t even notice the thicker glass or slower speed. I would definitely recommend this device for anyone who’s getting into art or just looking for a really cool iPad.
I wanted an iPad since so many years but they were always too expensive for me. Well now I almost finished school and I'm am going to the university soon and I think the price tag is definitely okay. For me it is still expensive but I can't find a comparable tablet and I think that I will buy this one in the next few weeks!
Wow! I was wondering; Do you ever sleep? You are SOOOOO fast and accurate with your videos. After your two recently posted videos, I decided to retire my 2013 iPad Air and ordered the 2018 base line iPad. My iMac and MacBook Pro handle all the heavy lifting. Using my new Apple Pencil, I can take notes while watching your Highly Informative Videos. Thanks!
i got this ipad planning on using the pen for note taking. could you suggest some good apps for note taking (using the apple pencil) that could easily convert to text?
20 years of Macs, I bought my first iPad a few weeks ago and I love love love it. It's highly functional and I use it almost constantly. Also, something I thought wouldn't work for me since I have a big screen Mac, I watched tv on it and it was fantastic. It works particularly well with Notability and Scannable - I import the scans to Notability. AMAZING. I use it for so many things and it's improved my digitial life a lot.
I’m probably too late, but buy this. Unless you’re an artist, or you create 3D models, the iPad will work great for you. I honestly think the iPad Pro is overrated.
OMG!! you are amzing!!!!! From the speed in which you speak and the succitant content!! I've have spent hours on youtube videos trying to learn about my Ipad, I havent been out in days lol..but your content is ric, educating and on point! It woke me up and learned from you!! Thank you!
I watched a lot of reviews before buying the iPad a few days ago and I want to say that I think the issue with the air gap is a non issue for everyone who never had an iPad Pro ....at least if you want to use the pencil. My experience with the pencil is just amazing...I’d recommend it. It is the main reason I bought it.
Great video! I have a question.. I have an iPad Air 2 and I really want the Apple Pencil because I mostly use it for taking notes. Do you recommend me buying this iPad?
Like I said in the other video, can you do a side by side comparison with the iPad pro? Specifically for note taking, or writing in general, with the apple pencil? Thanks
Like, do you guys know if this new Ipad supports ProCreate App and Amaziograph? I've been thinking about getting it but I need to know if these apps are going to work on it because those apps are the only reasons I need this Ipad for. I already use them in my PC but I need to get an exclusive device for my designs.
Is editing RAW on affinity photo usable on this? Is there a huge difference with regards to color gamut compared to the iPad Pro? Planning to purchase one for Affinity for my hobby and VMWare for work.
I was wondering if I should buy it for taking handwritten notes with ipencil? I use my ipad only studying purpose but I'm not sure as I already have ipad Air 2... So should I buy this one or just buy some palm rejection stylus???
Hi I was just wondering if you would know why my iPad 6th generation’s video quality fades in and out sometimes?? Like for example, when I’m watching a TH-cam video it goes a little faded. It would stay like that for quite a few minutes. It’s kinda annoying cause I’ve only been using it for only a few days.
Man that's just lower end model for students that's cheap and your saying that it does not have promotion display, smart connectors, laminated,processor......... Blah blah They mentioned that this for students and your camparing with pro model🙃🙃🙃
I do have this IPad and I am going to start studying in a few days. I really like it. It is fast. All apps work and you can get a third party keyboard that works really well (Inatec for example). Also the Apple Pencil is working perfectly and you don’t have to worry about the gap between the screen and the pixels!
Would you please comment on the pressure levels using the Apple pencil, as well as multitasking with 2GB, when you test the new iPad? Thanks for a helpful vid, Daniel.
Loved the vid! Super informative, learned a lot from it thank you! About the anti-reflecting coating... aren't there screen-protectors available to help you with that, or are they too thick and disturb the apple pencil?
Hello.. My new iPad 2018 6th gen which I purchased 4days back is heating up real hot when I use the in build note app. Any idea why is it so.. I don't multi-task and there are no games. Kindly give suggestions if u have any
I still LOVE my iPad AIR 2, works really great even compared with the speed of the iPhone X which i have too. Seriously guys, if you consider to buy a cheap iPad, buy Air 2! It's still perfect device with LAMINATED display, great features and STUNNING design.
but beside the laminated display, the iPad 2018 is the better machine. The new iPad is even 50 EUR cheaper in Germany than the old iPad 2017. It's a very good deal.
My Air 2 still rocking too. Eventually I will upgrade probably to the next pro. Since I hang on to it 4 years I rather get top specs when I upgrade. But this is a good deal though but I need more the 32 gigs.
I think is the best of both worlds, the cheapest one with much better processor than the predecessors and the apple pencil as and add up is just a plus, affordable by much people that don´t have the money to buy iPad pro BTW awesome videos you are the BEST apple reviewer ever.
I got this iPad about over a month ago in 128 gb and in Space Gray, I personally love it, it is the best iPad I have ever owned. Yes I experience a little lag here and there but I am used to that considering i'm an android user. But it is very fast, I don't really care about the Non-Laminated display because I barely notice it since the Space Gray model has black bezels. It is perfectly sized and easy to use. It has an amazing display.
I wonder if this would be a better then the iPad i have today- I have a iPad mini 2? Can you play games and watch netflix on this one or is it only for school stuff? 🤔😊
Please, could you speak about how the experience with Apple Pencil in this new iPad is compared with the one in iPad Pro? I really appreciate your comments and how clear your explanations are. I’m considering buying the new iPad because of the Apple Pencil support but, if the expirience is not as fluid and natural, I think I’ll bull the iPad Pro. Thanks for your work!
Nice video! I’m debating between the new 9.7 in, the 2017 10.5 in Pro or wait until the 2018 Pro & compare the prices. Either Pro model (2018/2017) should be good for at least 5 yrs??
Being able to use the Apple Pencil on my iPad, 2018, enables me as an author, and illustrator to save thousands of dollars by doing my own art, instead of having to hire an illustrator. So that feature alone makes this iPad very useful and a wonderful bargain regardless of the lack of a laminated screen.
Thanks for the new information. I was debating between this one and the 10.5 ipad pro and now I don't think this new one is going to work for me. Your videos are great; I'm glad I subscribed.
great video on this new iPad. I would love to see you demonstrate the apple pencil on your new iPad when you get it tomorrow. I am wondering if the new iPad with apple pencil support is worth buying for drawing with.
Hey Daniel, thanks again for another great video! I gave a question? Does the original iPad Pro (12.9 inch) (generation 1/2015) have a fully laminated screen or not? I don’t think it does. Just curious! Thanks for all you do!
i need a good mid end device for music production , video editing - from my goPro and good multimedia experience , had my eyes on the ipad but now I'm not gonna go for it .. PLEASE SUGGEST something
What you pay is what you get. I think the iPad 2018 is just great for general multimedia use if your my sort of age (well over 50!) and prefer a larger screen to watch videos on you tube than a cell phone and yet have a reasonably portable device. And hey the pencil works great!
Tried 9.7 with pen and 10.5 pro with pen. The laminated display sounds way better. No loud clickety clack on the screen but otherwise the writing is very fast. Smooth. I don't really mind or need the laminated display. The laminated display feels very nice and is very fast but I got the 9.7 and used the money I saved on apps and a pair of headphones.
I just bought one to basically use as a notebook for school. I already have an iPad mini and a MacBook but I wanted to hand write notes for better retention. My current iPad does not support Apple Pencil. It is basically a $329 notebook for me lol
Before buying this Ipad your video din comes in my youtube recommendation. And now boom here you are after i purchased but it din matter me . Apple product is good in its own.
Helpful review. Can be a good device for someone who likes to draw as well as someone who loves to read and will use this as a reader. I am still considering it.
I am self teaching myself many subjects and needed a lighter and affordable way to take notes as opposed to my big and heavy laptop. So this is my first apple product as it is affordable. Btw the zagg case/keyboard is pricey and very thick but worth the money.
I really enjoy your calm and detailled way of speaking! it is kind of comforting and your videos are always informative. thanks!

I had an interesting idea regarding the not laminated display. Apple heavily advertised this model for kids, kids brake or scratch things much more easily - so with a non laminated display it’s much easier and less expensive to exchange it when a mishap actually happens ;)
