Apple has me sold. I’ve been debating whether to buy an iPad Pro + Pencil for probably a year now. Now I’ll can buy an iPad 2018 + Pencil for half the price and be able to do everything I need.
Just ordered this - specifically to use for uni. One of the other students in my class had an iPad Pro and used it with the Apple Pencil, and she had just the neatest notes I've ever seen. Looked super convenient, and very user friendly. Can't wait for the new semester to start, even though I'm not really done with finals yet.
Why did you chose this one instead of the ipad pro 2018? It is because of the price or something else? I am asking because i am starting med school and want to write notes on it but i can't choose between ipad pro 10.5, 11 or the ipad 2018
@@ivetpetrova5362 im in med school as well and i'll probably get this ipad to use in college (taking notes and reading).. wanted a pro but its way too expensive for me, and i dont see how i'd need the pro for what im planning on using it for

So far it's good, almost a month has passed, and there is still no lag that I can see, I use this for gaming, browseing that's all, not so impressed with the gaming parformace (I'm playing pubg mobile) it give 30 FPS on the best available graphic settings but frame starts to drop after some time (works fine in AC Room but most of the time I'm staying in the fan so I gotta lower it )

I love my 2018 ipad with the Apple pencil. Love using affinity photo, selecting and painting is so much easier with a pencil. Also love notability. Captures my handwriting brilliantly and converts it to text very accurately. Saves me carrying a keyboard around all the time.
I only have an ipad for college. Been doing it for the past 4 years and I can still do all that is required of me on it. I love it. I have the ipad air 2.
Don Downer it does have some downsides. I’m a biology major so most of my work is research, writing and presenting. With a few peripherals it works great for that. Multitasking is sometimes a challenge but has gotten better recently. I’ve also had trouble working on spreadsheets but it’s great to get you started and easy to finish on a school computer. I record lectures as well and I love that all my books and work are all in a convenient form factor. I’m on the go a lot so it gives me the liberty of working just about anywhere without much inconvenience. A Bluetooth keyboard is a must. Oh and flash doesn’t work, I had a course that used a website that used flash, to get around it I used a Remote Desktop app to hijack a friend’s computer to complete that homework on the fly.
I purchased this iPad for my mom as a Mother’s Day gift this year. She loves it. Thanks for the review. Now I know I made a good decision. The gold looks a bit like rose gold.
The iPad 9.7' is my first Apple device. I'm very happy with it. I certainly never expected it to be a heavyweight computing device, and I like that it makes content consumption really pleasant because of its display, but it's not too big to be conveniently portable. The speakers are okay, if a bit awkwardly placed, but I usually use earbuds for movie-watching and even cheaper ones (Skull Candy, $10) give a satisfactory listening experience. I like Safari, but also have Chrome, and the default mail app works fine with me. It integrates with my Google account well enough and I'm set up for Apple Pay. The music apps available are excellent, particularly the built-in Garage Band. Korg's Legacy Collection synths are great. I also have the Apple Pencil and, while I'm no kind of artist, I like using it, particularly as a stylus for operating the touch interface. Apple has done well for me in this case, and, for a change, at a not-unreasonable price.
eBay is a great place to buy an iPad. I bought my 9.7 inch iPad 6 gen for only £95/ $123.50. It works just fine and is amazing for what it costed me. I bought an Apple Pencil for only £35/$44.50 and its amazing. As an artist that likes to make really fast sketches, I have experienced no lag at all. I definitely recommend this iPad to anyone who is looking for a responsive, powerful and cheap tablet.
I saw many people using surface devices at my university... towards the end of the year those same people switched to ipads. Not one person was left using a surface device. I ended uo asking one of them and they said for note taking the ipad was a better option.
Lancer Shade Pages and numbers. Thats what I used. If I remember correctly some of these other guys also had laptops. I would probably say half of them used windows and half macs
Besides note taking, how good is this iPad for online classes? You know, having to use different websites and submitting workloads? I’m trying to decide if I should get an iPad or a Chromebook? Thanks
Manny Alaniz for me there is two different types of online classes. The fully online classes where you do absolutely everything online through an online website/app. The other type is where a prof wants you to do hw or submit projects through a website. The first i never had. The second i had no problem using the ipad. I was able to submit projects every week and work through mymathlab and other online hw sites. Many websites are optimized for ipad and the files app. Pages lets you convert documents to .docx or pdf. Same with keynote and numbers.

I use my iPad (2018) for college too. I love it, it's so compatible and way cheaper than what my laptop was. It can almost do everything that I need for my classes, so I keep my laptop at home. I have a laptop that is 15 inch... so the difference in size and weight is a real thing for me. It's so easy to take my iPad with me. Oh and by the way, I don't like the keyboard case, because I'm a guy with long fingers so I'm pressing for the most time 2 buttons at once... So I bought myself the Magic Keyboard. (small one without numpad) And I have to say, I really love the set-up that I use at the moment! If I could go back in time, I wouldn't had bought a laptop for my college.

*How Does it Hold Up in 2020?* I still use my 6th gen iPad and so far it still works perfectly and I have no major complains about it. I have the Logitech Slim Folio keyboard case for it and just got the 1st gen Apple pencil a week ago to help me take notes faster. It can do everything I need it to do for school (Zoom, email, word, ppt, excel, notes etc). I literally never notice the non-laminated screen. It’s only obviously noticeable if you compare it to an iPad pro right next to it or you are just coming from an iPad pro. For me, the non-laminated screen is not a problem whatsoever. My iPad has not slowed down yet, and i’ve been using it for about two years now. I normally average 4+ hours of screen on time but during the last few months I have become an extremely heavy user, i’ve been averaging near 11 hours of screen on time per day. It’s the device I use for everything. The only problem I will say it has is the lack of RAM. If I have like 10+ applications open and i’m switching between them constantly, one or some of the apps may crash (fortunately this has not been *major* problem for me because it rarely happens and even if the app crashed, no data got lost). For the people who want to use it for school, I definitely recommend buying a keyboard for it, the Apple magic keyboard is compatible with any of them past the 7th gen. To me the base model iPad is the best one the get for the average consumer considering the price, especially considering they added the smart connector to that lineup.

Thank you, this review was very helpful. I've been debating whether i should get the ipad 2018 and thanks to your review i have decided to get one. The other videos relating to this product don't come close to the quality that you provide.
I love my iPad 9.7 (2018). I thought about getting the iPad Pro but all I usually do with an iPad is just to play games every once and a while and I don’t really have to edit to much stuff either. I think you should get it if it fits your needs for it!
I’m sold, I will buy the iPad 6. My old iPad Air 2 is still a very good tablet, but I’d love that pencil support. I can conform iPads are great and durable devices, the apps are well optimized. Thanks for the help.
Sometime back, I had a MacBook Air 11-inch and iPad 4. I found myself using and bringing my iPad more than my Mac. When I got married and had my own Family, I switched to a Mac Mini and iPad Air 2. I'd say the iPad... any iPad, is the best portable computer (for most of us).
No questions but I have a comment. Love your videos bc I like that you don't "sing" at the end of your sentences like most other TH-camrs. It is so dang annoying when they do that. Just speak normally! Like you. Thanks for that.
Good review, particularly the keyboard recommendation. I have a similar Logitech keyboard and like it. I'd strongly suggest paying another $100 for the 128GB model. That's four times the storage for less that 30% more. If money is tight, skip the Pen for now. You can always buy it later. You can't do that with more storage. What you get is all you will ever have.
Michael W. Perry I was tempted to get the 128gb but I went for the 32gb because I store everything in the cloud and needed the LTE model, because I was going to use it out in the field for my uni course. But for most people yeah the 128gb is a must
Disagree, with so many cloud options like OneDrive, GoogleDrive, etc there's no need for a 128gb model unless you like to save lots of vídeos on it. For working and some pictures 32gb internal storage is more than enough.
@@TigasFMS decided to buy ipad 9.7 but I'm stuck with buying either 32gb or 128gb... I'm using for educational purpose (mostly pdf and ppt files) and will write some notes in it. So if I store the files in drive can I still get to write notes on it? Or the files should be downloaded and stored in the device itself?
@@debbyhah3141 you're supposed to connect to WiFi all the time . But if its your recent work,i guess you can still access it offline. Since you mention pdf and ppt files, yes it can be accessed offline. Cloud storage is meant for a large file like video or image.
How long will it last/ when will it be outdated/ show lags (get old) ?? I'm asking this in reference to using this as a college student which include MS OFFICE apps + video watching + book reading and heavy PDFs . all study related work .
Even though Apple is quite well known for their planned obsolesce, I'm still using my 5 year (ish) old iPad mini 2 for my heavy PDF reading purposes (academic here). Granted, mine can't run MS office properly. So if you're only using it to watch video and reading it should last awhile, but personally I think it's too premature to rely on iPad as primary productivity device.
Apple is kinda evil when it comes to making their old devices lag so that you are motivated to buy their new ones. My ipad 3 got old awhile ago. Can't use it for anything
Everyone I've watched so far gave negative reviews but it's affordable and I can use it for watching TH-cam, drawing, and gaming. It doesn't have to be this perfect impeccable piece of technology.
Nice job. I got the 2018 iPad and ironically the Logitech slim keyboard and they really do make a great combo. I couldn’t go for the overpriced pencil though so I got the Logitech crayon and I think it’s great for what I want.
I got distracted by the LV cardcase, Goyard wallet, and BMW interior appeared in the video, and had to rewind to re-focus on what you're saying about iPad. I must be the perfect demographic which Apple is targeting, with iPhones and iPads :D
This is the first video I have come across that hasn’t drug the 9.7 IPad in the mud. I am not wanting to know why I should get the IPad Pro instead. But this gives a true all around everyday user review. Thank you for making this video.

ipad is nice for design studies. I used ipad with apple pen to draw designs and stuff rather than real paper and pen. I could sketch my prototypes and hi-fi prototypes on ipad.
I really enjoyed this video, I have a 10.5 pro with an imported keyboard and I love it to be honest. I do want to get myself an Apple Pencil but still on the fence because I feel as if a new edition of the pencil will debut soon.
I got this tablet for Christmas and with christmas money i got the slim folio case, so far so good! And ive been against apple for a good while (and the Apple Pencil is next) but i disagree with your view on competition with the iPad, as the surface go is its direct competitor
You can find a Logitech Slim Folio Keyboard Case on eBay for 40-50 bucks. Just got one and it’s great, you can see a clip of it on my iPad 2018 review I just posted
Hi Justin. Just purchased my first 2018 iPad tho' I've owned other Apple devices. Currently have a 15" MacBook pro & a iPhone X. Question: what's the best way to transfer data over to the new iPad during set up? Using my iPhone, MacBook, or iCloud? Thanks.
what do you think of the idea of getting a matted screen protector for the ipad 2018 to simulate the ipad pro laminated screen. The matted screen protector should reduce glare as well
One suggestion. For most, 32GB of storage isn't enough. I would suggest paying $100 more to get 128 GB even if that means waiting to get an Apple Pencil. You can always add the Pencil. Once purchased you cannot add storage and this iPad is fast enough you should be able to keep it for a long time. And if you'd like to get lots of protection and an excellent keyboard, check out the Zagg Rugged Folio. You can get the iPad Air 1 version for at $99 and it fits this iPad perfectly except the volume keys don't match. The up volume button is now the down volume and you'll need to use an opening for the up volume. That's no big deal and will save you $40.
The laminated display is nice but the Air 2 won't be supported much longer considering how old it's processor is. You're better off getting the new iPad, or even last year's.
A bit false statment, the iPad 2 was supported for years (iOS 4 to 9, 5 years), the iPad air 2 has a good CPU (A8X). The old iPhone 5S is still supported after years. The Air 2 is slimer and lighter, its why you prefer this one. Think if you need the Pencil or not.
Hey I ordered this iPad today and I was wondering if the glare reflection is bad at any point? I’m using it for gaming and personal use not for school or work Also I figured the space grey would fix the air gap since the sides are black and not white lol

This was SUPER well explained, I was thinking about getting the apple ipad 9.7 *2018* for Christmas this year, and i think i will, i would also love to have the keyboard but that'll be about $450 , cause i also wanted a $70 tv i saw at best buy lol
Good job on the review. I still wanna go with Pro....
Watching this on the 9.7 ipad pro
Once again an Amazing review great work 🙏

Thank you, this review was very helpful. I've been debating whether i should get the ipad 2018 and thanks to your review i have decided to get one. The other videos relating to this product don't come close to the quality that you provide.
I’m not quite sure which iPad to get the 2018 or the 2019 it’s a tough decision ngl 🤔🤔
Watching on my ipad 2018
@@ryokohirosue6300 thank you for your advice 😊
How long will it last/ when will it be outdated/ show lags (get old) ?? I'm asking this in reference to using this as a college student which include MS OFFICE apps + video watching + book reading and heavy PDFs . all study related work .
Even though Apple is quite well known for their planned obsolesce, I'm still using my 5 year (ish) old iPad mini 2 for my heavy PDF reading purposes (academic here). Granted, mine can't run MS office properly. So if you're only using it to watch video and reading it should last awhile, but personally I think it's too premature to rely on iPad as primary productivity device.
I would say that it will last at least 5 more years
Arrowlog Productions oh great ! Thank you!
Our iPad mini (1!) has got mega lags... But it was bought in +/- 2012.
You should get your hands on a surface pro with LTE. Would love to hear your experience with it!
Nice job. I got the 2018 iPad and ironically the Logitech slim keyboard and they really do make a great combo. I couldn’t go for the overpriced pencil though so I got the Logitech crayon and I think it’s great for what I want.
Get the notability app and the Apple Pencil and that’s all you need for notes for college.
I got distracted by the LV cardcase, Goyard wallet, and BMW interior appeared in the video, and had to rewind to re-focus on what you're saying about iPad. I must be the perfect demographic which Apple is targeting, with iPhones and iPads :D
Fantastic, informative video! My Ipad is due to arrive later today and I'm psyched! :)
I have this iPad and it is great. Fast, great screen, and all the apps I want.
Thanks for the in depth review! Great job!
This video helped me bring my stress levels down.
Great video as always :)
Thanks, it's a helpful information. Thanks for honest and informative review. Great job :)
For us our school has iPads for the intermediates and iPads and chromebooks for the juniors and seniors
please give the link of cheap stylus pencil for writing notes on ipad
This is the first video I have come across that hasn’t drug the 9.7 IPad in the mud. I am not wanting to know why I should get the IPad Pro instead. But this gives a true all around everyday user review. Thank you for making this video.
Totally. We all know the Pro is better... but it costs 3x more!
Apple should know that this tablet is a game changer. Education is the future.
Can u do an updated apartment tour please? I want to see new inspiration for my new home. And I also want to find out the latest best tech perfect for the house.
ipad is nice for design studies. I used ipad with apple pen to draw designs and stuff rather than real paper and pen. I could sketch my prototypes and hi-fi prototypes on ipad.
how to set up "message" on iPad 6th gen.
I can't click the send button.
Please help.
Thank You.
As a hobby artist I would definitely get the apple pen for my iPad 2018 along with the keyboard for school related tasks.
Basically what I needed to know about the iPad. Now I’m a bit torn between this one and the new mini (due to the better processor).
I have one right now and I Love it’!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good stuff man.. I recently got one and love it!
Eevnos is it worth it i am going to buy it
I definitely think so!
I use mine for everything from watching movies, to using it in my video production workflow to gaming.. absolutely love it!
I'm in highschool, and I'm choosing a iPad with the of the support of the Apple pencil.
What is your recommendation for my purchase of any new iPads.
I really enjoyed this video, I have a 10.5 pro with an imported keyboard and I love it to be honest. I do want to get myself an Apple Pencil but still on the fence because I feel as if a new edition of the pencil will debut soon.
What's your opinion now?
Hope this gets top comment because i’m gonna buy one but i’ve been thinking does it come with the apple pencil?
dude, your video is beautiful to see. The colors are so pleasant
I got this tablet for Christmas and with christmas money i got the slim folio case, so far so good! And ive been against apple for a good while (and the Apple Pencil is next) but i disagree with your view on competition with the iPad, as the surface go is its direct competitor
That that keyboard case be used with the 2017 iPad (not pro) 😊
michael hill Yes!!!
My air 2 motherboard went bad after 18 months, looking at this as a replacement it’s actually cheaper than my air cost me for the same gb
Great review, hope to more like this video. Students need good advices buying things for school
Walmart has it for $249. Target will price-match as well. No complaints, I do need a keyboard case!
Thanks.
They could get the finger print sensor off and use an older camera, so making it a little bit cheaper and have the pencil bundle with it.
which one would you recommend just for note taking ipad 9.7" or 10.5" pro?
Wow! Amazing. 😮😮😮.I am going to buy it.
what do you think of the idea of getting a matted screen protector for the ipad 2018 to simulate the ipad pro laminated screen. The matted screen protector should reduce glare as well
Excellent video. Very helpful in choosing between pro and iPad.
I’m getting one of these for Christmas because I can’t be arsed carrying my heavy laptop to and from class
You have an exact same colour ipad as me and I have that Logitech keyboard also!
justin could you please do me a favour can you put video on how you record your videos basically i wanna know how you light up your scene Pleass
I know the ipad air 2 is an old ipad but i just prefer it to the newer ipad 6 and I dont know which to buy. Help me plz
Buy the new one. The Air 2 is 4 years old, too outdated at this point.
Ive bought the new 2018 ipad with apple pencil in gold color and that thing is soo smooth!
Adou Cohen ipad air 3
I’m going to university this year for engineering so maybe the iPad Pro is better because of processor for graphics and that things right ?
I like your keyboard case! May I know where did you get it?
Wow, I wonder if you guys also would like to review a ipad 9.7 case ?
Great presentation
Hey I ordered this iPad today and I was wondering if the glare reflection is bad at any point? I’m using it for gaming and personal use not for school or work
Also I figured the space grey would fix the air gap since the sides are black and not white lol
Wow i didn't thinkyou would make thia but i am happy that you did. Best review on this tablet so far! Also should i get the 128gb or 32gb model. Im using it for highschool
What a nice video! Good job! I like it.
I wanted to love this, but I just couldn't get used to the air gap and hollow feeling body/display, especially when paired with the Apple Pencil... ended up switching to the Pro.
Great video bro! I would like it if you could do a full comparison of iPad pro and the iPad 2018! Thanks! Keep it up. Instant subscriber!
4:07 how dis you do that i have the same ipad but 128 gb and cellular
I want to use an iPad to take notes for school. What one would you recommend?(I use a MacBook for my other school work)
Great informative video and I think you helped me see that this iPad would be great for most purposes and most people!
Great Review, clear, concise and objective. Needs to be for me as I am not that great with technology and I am over 60.
really appreciate these reveiws great vid! I really dislike apple, but i have to take my hat off to this product i think in terms of students who study lighter subjects they have hit the nail on the head!
I already own a powerfull laptop and I'm looking for a simple media consumption device. Do you think the Ipad 9.7'' (2018) is the best fit for my needs?
Great video btw, I loved it!
E.L050 i think it is
i am thinking of buying this one..my concern is that is it capable of editing photos/video (not heavy) and doing some works like microsoft words...
