Thank you Lanky! Why we don't get these testing videos from IndyCar (or others) is a mystery.
I never noticed this before but I can finally hear subtle differences between the Honda and the Chevy motors. The Hondas just sound more aggressive especially during upshifts while the Chevys sound smoother especially during the full throttle flyby.
Chevy has a bit more torque and a lower growl, Honda spools up a little faster.
Say what you want about the car being ancient and how great it would be if they had 900 hp, but these cars are still fast as fuck.
Can't wait for this year's Indycar Series to start
Its not spring, without Indycar spring testing videos! Thank you again!
6:31 maaannn I loved that one, awesome stuff Lanky!
First look at the new liveries, thanks LT.
6:36 Great shot of the seldom seen short track access road.
Thanks for the coverage Lanky. Racer and Indycar need to license your pre-season videos. They are better than anything else out there! One of the best features is "no announcers", just the sweet sound of those engines.
Indy cars are badass
Lanky never fails with great footage 👏
Thank you for bringing this to the fans!
I like the windshield better than the bar on the f1 cars,
As long as they accomplish the same goal...a chosen favorite is purely personal preference...
Nice Lanky!
Thanks LT! The shots of the cars riding the curb are magnificent !!
Why do they test at Sebring, but never race there? I think it’d be an awesome track for a race.
Sebring is way too bumpy for open wheel, especially the full circuit. For testing it's fine, the bumps help test reliability.
@@jstoli996c4s Have you watched the Detroit GP before? When they raced at Belle Isle? I think the cars and drivers could handle Sebring.
@@DeoVindice_61-65 I guess. But there’s already a popular race in St Pete which is only 2 hours away from Sebring, so would sufficient fans drive to Sebring for an Indycar race? Maybe? 🤷♂️
I think it has something to do with IMSA owning the track, testing wise.
Why they don’t hold a race I don’t know.
Sebring is used for durability testing. Also it's one of few road courses that stimulate the pavement conditions of a street course.
Absolutely phenomenal footage 😀
Colton's Gainbridge car looks so good this year, and Rossi's McLaren.
Every team’s swagger is on 💯 this year…
Even the entire car is looking good
Thank you for these brother.
Love the footage - great work!
Thanks!
Hail, Lord Lanky!
Can't wait for the new season
Colin with those smoooth 11s 🔥
I really hope Andretti sees a ton of success this season just to shit in the FIA's face. Non-competitive my ass.
Amen to that,i have followed F1 for 50 plus years if this season is a repeat of 2023 i am done! i am sure Indycar will be stellar as we have come to expect!
An overall victory at LeMans, by Cadilac, would also be a great, "Told ya so"...
@@mapp4751After yesterday's qualifying, that seems likely. This is gonna be my first year watching indycar, bye bye F1 👋
love this chanel
Thanks!
Good video, also, are you going to record and post the highlight video of the first race in WEC at Qatar or not? Other than that, keep it up.
Thanks, I'm not going to be able to go to Qatar no
@@LankyTurtle Oh ok
J'adore ❤
Pato looks quick af. lets gooo
I absolutely love these shots, what equipment di you use camera, mic?
Thanks! A Sony AX53 camcorder I've had for over 7 years now with a little rode mic
@@LankyTurtle thank you, I assume the rode mic is mounted on the camera?
🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍
Soy hincha del zorro pero vamos cabezón, siempre alentando por mi país 🇦🇷
are beverage concessions open while you're there? a guy has to hydrate. sweet footage here. Thanks
Thanks! There's a bar in the hotel with beers and sodas but nothing besides that. The tests aren't supposed to be open to spectators.
@@LankyTurtle - for You to hydrate, mate. And you're no spectator, you're press.
According to the track and series I'm a spectator. I usually hydrate with a couple beers there
@@LankyTurtle - i've no need to argue that point with them, GREAT you're granted access. Will you take a break and watch WEC 2024 1st round at Qatar Saturday here on YT ?
I drive Sebring quite a lot. Yes it is very bumpy, but most racers actually appreciate the extra level of challenge to the car and driver. The full course layout is first rate with variety, challenges and skill required to go really fast. Plus, when you factor in the historical nature of it, one can understand why the calls to "fix" it over the years have never really gotten too serious consideration. It is as iconic as any other track in America.
Sebring is so fun to drive in the sim. It's seriously underrated imo.
go go go canapino 78!!!!
This is how racing cars should sound!!! F1 is great but the cars sound like vacuum cleaners on steroids.
Is it only an impression of mine, or these cars sound louder than F1 cars?🤔 They have both V6 engines (1.6 Liters F1, 2.4 Indycar), but Indycars sound better in my opinion...
2.2L twin turbo in indycar, and AGREED! Plus indycars have less downforce than F1, love watching the cars slide out of the corners
I have a question lanky, this might not be related to indycar, but how close can you get to the cars in the paddock for the sebring 12 race weekend? Is it the same as daytona? ive only ever been to daytona 24 two years ago, and you can get real close to cars in the garages
Yeah just like Daytona you can go right down by the cars. The only difference is Sebring doesn't have permanent garages like Daytona does, so the team's set up temporary garage areas right next to their transporters in the paddock
@@LankyTurtle and a general admission 4 day ticket gives you access to the garages right?
@@Aro3o6 Correct, paddock area is open to all ticket holders at the race, you don't need an extra pass or anything like at Daytona, you just have to cross over the front straight on one of the walkover bridges
@@LankyTurtle thanks!
Man. The chevys sound so much better in mid corner.
they all sound like mclaren mp4/4's
edit: they sound so hypnotic
Anyone know if they have the hybrid feature? Or was that pushed back again?
They've been testing it off and on the past year but none of the cars have it for this test. They have a hybrid test coming up at Indy and one here in Sebring in April for a planned race debut in July of this year
@@LankyTurtle Cool, would be awesome to see this tech
Okay im not big on listening to indycar silly season can someone enlighten me on who and what are the moves
Yes, you can, by doing your own research...
P.S. If you're not "big" on it, why the need to be enlightened?
Great to see something other than NASCAR'S taxicabs for a change.
Nascar owns the track
Are these the hybrid ones?
Not yet, race debut delayed until July but they've been doing hybrid tests here and there for the last year
Hey lanky im sure you will be at the 12. Enjoyed your video for yrs. We have a track side rv site. Come over would be great to meet you
Can do! What turn is your spot?

Dallara spec cars are up and running.
Yes, and they produce great racing. Not like f1
Were these the hybrids or 2024 cars?
No, these are the cars with the lightened parts with no hybrids. Basically the cars that race from St Pete till Indy500.
They don't have the hybrids installed yet but they've taken some weight out of the cars already in preparation for the hybrids
@@LankyTurtle not true. they’ve tested them already at least once.
@@victorylanefreight5294 They've tested the hybrids multiple times, even at Sebring already, but none of the cars in this test have the hybrid units installed
@@victorylanefreight5294that’s not what he said
Honest question, what's to test? The cars don't seem to have changed much since the last few years.
That really is an honest question. It's a shake-down and clearing the dust off.
They could be trying out new dampers and other setup concepts. Every team is making marginal improvements year over year, event if it's measured in a tenth of a second.
They took a decent chunk of weight out of them, lighter aeroscreen, magnesium gearbox and other components in preparation for the heavy hybrid units that will be installed later in the year. There are small changes to the car and probably tire compounds every year
I would love to see Kyle Larson drive this series for at least a year. Make a serious commitment to running these cars. I believe he would be a front runner. LORD Willing would more than likely go home with the car in one piece 😂
WE NEED A RACE HERE 🔥🔥🔥
They f..... up sound of indy engines too.
This is the 13th year they've used these exact engines
@@LankyTurtle it's same engine but paried with hybrid unit.
You must be hearing stuff pal, same engine they have been using. No hybrid attached to it
@@jake21494 it's attached, you are not informed well... you can hear it on this video.
@@coko7497 They've tested the hybrid units several times and the engines sound the same, maybe a refined ear could hear an electric wine mixed in there somewhere. But at this test none of the cars ran the hybrids. They've been delayed until later in the year because not all the teams have the hybrid units yet.
Will we ever get more than just Honda and Chevy. The days everyone was in champ cars. Kind of boring
They've been trying to woo a third manufacturer for years. At this point it seems more likely they will just go to a spec engine in the future
@@LankyTurtle ya! That's sad, I liked when Oldsmobile, Mercedes, cosworth, Chevy, Honda, and more I can't come up with right now. And several chassis too. Hate to see die like this, spec. Engine is a rookie or kid kind of class. Thanks for FYI 😃

What a sh hole test track!
