I saw your video after I had already purchased the camera. Never had a cell camera previously. I will keep you posted on my thoughts as to if it meets my needs or not. Very helpful video. Thanks!!
I watched the video to the end. I have moultrie cameras and I am not completely satisfied. A friend suggested the Spypoint solar camera and this video was very helpful in understanding the pros and con's of Spypoint.
Thanks for watching David. I personally would avoid SpyPoint. The Tactacam and Browning cameras are a bit more but FAR superior. Every SpyPoint that we have tested is now dead and the warranty process is terrible. Browning would be my first choice, Tactacam second.
I've been considering some trail cams, and really appreciate the info in this video. For that matter, I love watching all your videos...especially the Ventrac videos...LOL. THANKS!
Hey Ronald; thanks for the kind words buddy! I enjoy making them! We should definitely have some new Ventrac videos coming up. Lots of things need to be cleaned up after the spring rain; just wondering if Holly will let me use it! 😂
Just found your page as I was looking for reviews on cellular cameras! Your video helped out a lot it’s nice to see honest reviews before you buy something can’t wait to see what you have in store on your next video!
Hey Tony, thanks for watching! I think you are right. They work pretty good, but there are some great alternatives for around the same price (without the solar). The HD is an additional cost which isn’t as important with the other cameras but if that’s what you have it certainly beats buying new cameras. Take care!
Terrible company behind the scenes. I bought my first camera in 2016. My camera was stolen. And spypoint would not help me locate the camera. Even though they had exact gps location. I then bought two more cameras in 2018. I didn’t set them up until 2022. And realized the issue. Both arrived with bad barcodes and did not work. Spypoint then wanted proof of purchase from two years ago. And would not replace or fix the issue. Wasted money. They are not a US company. They are a European company that does not care.
Hi Joe, I agree not the best on the market, but affordable for just about everyone. One thing I do find amusing, every trail camera I've owned, even back to the 8 d cell ones said "don't face the sun when placing your camera", these, face the sun so the battery can charge. I've had great success with the Link Mico with Lithium batteries. Getting about 10 months of straight use. Again, yep, better cameras available, but got mine for $80 and $15 for a security box. Can't beat that. Take care!
Hey Tom! $80 is hard to beat on ANY camera. These aren’t bad; just falling behind the competition. For that price it would be hard to argue with any camera. I like to compare and call it like it is. No reason to replace them, but when they die reevaluate. Take care buddy!!!
So I just bought a twin pack and I find the same thing happening in mind one word one didn't and pictures are grainy I wish I would have seen your video earlier we appreciate you doing these demonstrations keep up the good work
Thanks Joe, appreciate your review, I’d like to see the ones you think are the best. I’m running 11 cellular cameras year round in a very tough environment, Southern Fl, for 12 years now and have been through about all of them, so I’d like to hear about some of the new ones. Thanks
Thanks for watching Thomas. I too know how the heat and humidity can wreak havoc on cameras. And that is a good video idea! I know one thing; I’ll never use a SpyPoint again. 🤣
Great video Joe lots of information on that spy point keep your videos coming very informative and really like the one about the salt Redmond salt saves a lot of money thank you
Thanks for the video review. Thanks for your comments pertaining to reliability. We are two and a half hours from our hunting area in south Texas. Cameras are in place year around. I have about a year and a half worth of experience with Spypoint. Before purchasing my first trail camera, I watched other hunters in my group deal with replacing batteries and swapping SD cards--this I do not want to do and want cellular connectivity. The Spypoint seemed like a bargain with the included solar panel and lithium battery. Photo quality is less than others but that's ok--they had to cut corners somewhere at this price point. I purchased my Spypoint Link Micro S a year and a half ago. The device failed a year ago due to moisture entering the device. Spypoint warranty service promptly replaced with a new unit. I sealed the new unit with silicone sealant based on the TH-cam video. Now this second unit is failing or has been less reliable than expected. The solar panel seems to be 'under-engineered' as mentioned by @DFWROADKILL. I want a reliable trail camera with cellular. I am considering a newer Spypoint or Tactacam Reveal adding a lithium battery and solar panel or Keen Ranger PT.
Hey Jeff! Thanks for watching. The SpyPoint is just a cheaply made camera and there is no lack of people that agree. Tactacam or Browning would be far better options.
Just started watching. Looking forward to more on new trail cams and what's ahead. Want to get into it and waiting to see what see have to show us. Mr G from Pa.
Just watched your video and starting to test this camera. Key for me will be the solar capability as I will be 6 hours from the camera most of the time. Appreciate your review
Running 4 but all around £50. Bought another for £124 with solar power but still testing it. Really need one with 4G or all but prices still bit high. I will keep looking and watching your videos. Cheers, Pedro from UK
Very honest review, I was looking for a solar powered camara and I am sold on solar tech! I have 15 panels. My hunting grounds are at least 1hour away from my house and I’d like to save time and fuel. Are there any other on the market I can research with solar?
Hey Michael, thanks for watching! The Browning cams we have reviewed are fantastic with battery life and their solar panel works really well. SpyPoint is a non starter brother. Look elsewhere and you will be happy!
Thank you for putting this video out. I think it's going to do what I need. Which is just letting me know , real time, when the hogs are tearing my property up.
Reveal is a solid camera. My only complaint is the build quality. They are great for a season; maybe two. But I promise it will be a MAJOR upgrade over the SpyPoint. Thanks for watching and good luck this season!
I got my spypoint solar on sale for $110. Been using it for a while now, my pics sent to my phone are pretty good, if it a buck I want a better look at, I get the HD pics for $5. I can see needing something better for security camera or something, but for scouting deer, I'm happy with mine. But thanks for the video, it's good to let people know what is out there and how it works...
Glad it’s working out for you Stacy! We have just had terrible luck with them. Some folks have told me that they are very happy with them. Good luck this season! 👍🏼👊🏼
I have the Micro Lite cameras & I am disappointed with the picture quality, it seems that they give you a crappy resolution pic so they can sell you their HD pic package, very unethical. Good review on the Spypoint Solar.
Thanks for watching Rick. I would look into the Browning with the solar panel. Really I would try the Browning without the solar charger first because it is excellent on batteries.
I know your vid is a couple years old now, but i just found it while looking at these cams. Hopefully they've improved with less graininess now? I'll have to search your channel for a follow-up review or maybe gain insight from the comments. Thanks for your honest thoughts!
Good Quality video and information. Looking for a low priced cellular camera for monitoring a property several hours away , few photos needed nor great photo quality required . What camera has lasted longest without battery issues or visiting site for camera updates etc?
Hey Ronald, thanks for watching. Been the happiest with the Browning cameras. Consistent, great on batteries and VERY durable. Haven't lost one yet. All of the other brands that we have tested have casualties. Lol
Thanks Kenneth; I have run a few and none have lived long enough to be able to get the hd pics. Some have had a great experience, but even the cam in this video stopped transmitting about a month after this was filmed. Just better options out there. Thanks for watching!
We hunt year around in Texas. Hogs are sort of a thing. So our cameras are out 24/7/365. I believe the solar panel on this model was under engineered, particularly if you get a lot of pics. It really needs to point in a direction that allows it to make the very most of the sun and that isn't always desirable. I went to the other model that is basically the same camera without the solar panel. Then I add a 12 volt feeder battery and solar panel. Costs less in the end than the model with the solar panel and has more than enough power. These cameras can be finicky and the online support needs to be improved. In the end, mine have done what I need them to do and have been reliable overall.
Glad you had a good experience my friend. I have heard a few folks have had some luck. We have just found them to be the least reliable of any tested. Lots of good ones out there. Stay safe out there!
I have to use the straps due to Wild life Managment Area (WMA) Florida prohibits drilling anything into a tree. I have had no issue using the strap. Works fine.
I know, I overreact on the straps. But boy do I like using other types of mounts. We have a video coming out soon with some new Browning accessories that are AWESOME! Thanks for watching man and good luck this season!
Just bought 2 micro link lte cams . 🤣 Time will tell … picked up a couple of solar battery packs ($49. ) so I can mount the camera out of the sun but solar panel into the sun . Also have a couple of yagi antennas left over from cell boosters that should improve reception .
I would pass buddy. I have run a lot of different brands and this one is 👎🏼. Go for the Browning Defender Scout Pro (we have a video on it). Bulletproof and great customer service. Batteries also last FOREVER.
I honestly like the old one better than the reveal x. If you have the budget; the Browning’s I reviewed have turned out to be workhorses. And the Coverts work great too.
Hey great video. I have a question I'm going to start hunting this season down in Georgia it's a 9 hour drive for me what can you recommend battery wise or any trail cam to avoid me driving 9hr alway to replace batteries. Thanks!
Hey Javier! I would look at the Browning or Tactacam cameras. Both have excellent battery life. Pair it with a solar adapter and lithium batteries and should have a winner
Hey Dennis! Thanks for watching. Man, they take pics once in a while if I am lucky. I stopped using this camera altogether. Too many solid choices out there and SpyPoint is just a bad camera. Sorry you bought some like the rest of us! Lol. Hope you had a great season!
I noticed there are 2 sim cards stacked on each other behind the battery tray. One has spypoint logo and the other is AT&T. Is there a way to cut spypoint out as a middleman and just insert a sim card from a cell phone and just call into it with the number associated to the sim card we use?
Was looking into purchasing spy point, in your opinion what link unit works best for security as well as wild life in place of wall mounted security cameras
Hey Robert, thanks for watching. I would not buy any SpyPoint product. I had some replaced under warranty and gave the new ones away to a neighbor (those cameras died as well). I would look into the Browning Cell Cams or the StealthCam Fusion X. The Browning are far more reliable and well built. Hope that helps!
First time watching one of your videos. Great in depth video I was looking for. You should link in your description. To help people find things in your video easier. Thanks in advance!
Thanks Austin! I appreciate the kind words and hope you will come back for more videos. And yes; I need to get better at links, etc. Still learning!!! Lol. Take care buddy.
I know that it can send hd pics, but my problem is that all of the SpyPoints I have ever used have died/stopped transmitting in a matter of weeks (this one included). Just too many better options out there.
Ok Joe..you definitely have my curiosity going.. I have 2 of the spypoint cams and there awesome for taking grainy pictures of squirrels lol.but they do eat batteries and there tech support is not good nor is there app. My Browning however is awesome. I like the ability to receive a 10 sec video and the 2 minute video setting is what I use all the time. Also new model coming out in June!!. Tactacam x is not quite there yet but it does alow 59 second videos but does not transmit them..Anyway can't wait to see what the mystery cam is..@#@. keep doing these awesome videos!! Rick From Virginia
Hey Rick! Lots and lots of pictures of leaves, squirrels, raccoons etc! Lol. It is not a “bad” camera, just so many better alternatives. Hope you enjoyed it keep an eye out for the nee one. It’s pretty sweet!
@@JoeTheFarmer I'll say however... I've had some spypoint cameras that just do not like certain SD cards and the pictures wouldn't be as good. Then change cards n they are awesome but the changed card would be great in another...it's like they have personalities 😂
i have had issues with these as well. but my brother and friend bought the same ones but later in the year last year and have had no issues. not sure if its old vs new technology but i think im going to try the new flex out. I know you like the browning but its a bit more money and the spypoint has the free plan. I leave mine out most of the year cause i have a large private spot. does any other camera offer a free plan. most i have seen requires a plan. but that is not a deal breaker for me.
Hey! Not sure which offer free plans anymore; but most offer a pretty inexpensive way to monitor and you can turn it off/on as you please. For me, I got so tired of missed pictures and wondering what is on the front part of the rear end on camera. The Browning, Tactacam and even StealthCam have been pretty solid. I can just say that I personally will never hang another SpyPoint. Even if they were free! Lol. Thanks for watching and good luck this season!
@@JoeTheFarmer actually the customer service is pretty good now. i think they came into the game quicker than they were set up to and didnt do enough testing. but i may try another brand the new flex one they have is better but probably not as good on pic quality. i got mine working today by deleting them and reinstalling. question can you do a firmware update remotely on those other brands you mentioned? the new flex by spypoint claims you can but its 149.00
I would try something else brother, Tactacam had a 2 for $199 deal that was pretty great. Not sure if they still have it, but a buddy bought them and is really happy
i am working as technical support in spypoint i want to share something as a tech i will recommend putting your device into annual plan because of this reasons . . . you invest money to make hunting more easy right? but sometimes renew the plan gives you some problem like card not able to do any transaction, the card expired, or the website not able to accept so if your camera is on annual plan you get peace of mind . . . . also i advice to do long format on SD card before use and also every once in awhile to make sure the camera works on its full potential
No offense; but the hardware is garbage. There is not a chance that I would spend money on annual plan for a camera that lasts a few months (my neighbor did and could never get the unused balance back). I did ALL of the things your computer tells customers to do…and it all came down to cheap hardware failure. Not trying to be a jerk; but on this channel we aren’t in anyone’s pocket and we keep it 100% real. If you sent me a pallet of SpyPoint cameras I’d set them on the curb. Just being honest.
I have this camera, pictures are average. Enough that let's me know what is in the area and when, HOWEVER, VERY disappointed in the "solar". I can put this out with a full charge and within a couple weeks I get a picture with a message that battery is low (under 20%) and does not charge.
Hey Herb, thanks for watching. You are luckier than most as the SpyPoints I was testing both died. Just not a big fan of this brand. Too many better options for the same price.
I have had one of these cameras and I have a bushnell camera. My problem is that they both leak water into the battery compartments. Do you have this trouble with your cameras? Do you know any tricks to stop this?
Water is a huge issue for the Tactacam cameras also. I would look at the microphone holes and plug them up and clean the rubber seal if you can. Some is just a bad design brother. Thanks for watching!
Got one and been running half of the winter at my camp site for security , then suddenly stop sending pictures, been told because it wasn't updated!! I don't have access to my camp site during winter! and spypoint put on updates that make it stop working!! Then this spring it totally stop working and found water in battery pack! killed the camera. One positive point is that their service department replace the faulty unit in 2 days.
That’s what’s frustrating about some of the cell cams! The newer StealthCam and Covert allow you to update remotely. But the SpyPoint just never seems to know which was is up. Browning and Tactacam seem to be the longest tenured cameras on the farm. Glad you got yours replaced, hope this one works well for you! Thanks for watching! 👍🏼👊🏼
@@JoeTheFarmer Thank you, i'm now trying a Reolink Go PT, as for the surveillance, Cells, solar panel, motion detection, two way comunication, and X and Y remotely adjustable. And image of 1080P, real time video and pictures.
I had two SpyPoint micro ltes last year and they lasted one year. I took them back and got two Browning Defender Scout pro max cameras and they would not stay linked to the phone service and was very poor on sending the photos. The App didn’t work well with IPhone at all.
Hey DJ, thanks for watching. Which Browning cams did you get? And did you call them for warranty help? They are pretty great at service and it’s done in KY I believe.
@@JoeTheFarmer they were the Defender Pro Scout Max. They wouldn’t link to Verizon so I changed them to ATT. They wouldn’t stay linked and wouldn’t send photos when they were supposed to and failed to send all the photos. The problem is I have them on traps and I need to be able to see them. It’s a 5 hr drive round trip to go check them when the cameras fail.
@@JoeTheFarmer thanks. I had problems with both of them. I have two traps so I had to have two cameras and they both did it. I thought about the batteries and cards and spoke to their customer service. They said what I had was good. My son has some high dollar cameras on two other spots that do pretty good but they are $500 each. I’m too cheap to do that😃
Amen to that brother! I have tested the high dollar ones too. Also have a pretty high failure rate for the money. StealthCam Fusion X has been good and I really have had good luck with the Browning. If nothing else try the Tactacam. I know you can’t try them all but if something doesn’t work for me it gets returned. Tired of paying for products that fail.
Get Spartan. With spartan you buy data not pictures and you can change all of the settings to what you want to receive. Adding any camera to the data plan is only $5 a month and they work great.. they are also the only one you can get a live video if that is what you want. With my solar panel on the go live I don't even keep batteries in any of them. My other go cams I have external battery boxes (18AH) and it would take forever for them to die.
Thanks Shawn, appreciate the feedback. Spartan is def on the short list for next year. They have been recommended quite a few times! Appreciate you watching!
@@JoeTheFarmer I like the cuddybacks bought 3 more last winter from hunting expo shows to add to my collection...tough to find sales to keep costs down. I think they have the market cornered on 1 cell plan for several cameras
They totally do; and over time it will be a real money saver. I have a buddy that loves them. I guess I just like to tinker and see what’s out there. Lol. Hey, we do appreciate you watching and hope you will come back for some more videos!
Mine worked well, farm is 40 miles from my house and it sent pics instantly. Then after a month , I moved it probably 500 yards from it was initially and it wouldn't transmit, that's been my problem ever since. I'd bring it home and it works instantly. Take it back and it may or may not work. If it is working- I can not move it or it will stop sending pictures. So annoying.. Oh and it always says signal 90 or 100% spent 30 minutes on the online chat with customer service and all they can tell me is to re-format it. I'll do that and see if it helps.
Buddy, I have been there. Their customer service is the worst in the business. I finally gave up on them and chose other brands. All cell cams have issues; but they at least work 90% of the time. Keep us posted as to how the formatting works and if you choose another brand we have a lot of reviews to help make a decision. Take care!
Great honest review. Glad I watched this before buying a SpyPoint. What brand do you recommend if I'm going to purchase one? I'm on a budget and am cautious of value for my money. If something is worth it then better to do it right the first time. Thanks
Hey Ron, thanks for the note. Yes, I would steer clear of SpyPoint. We have other videos out on other cameras but I would say a Browning or Tactacam would be good choices! Merry Christmas!
@@JoeTheFarmer Merry Christmas to you!! Which model of the Browning ? I see there are several. Is the Defender Wireless Pro Scout one you would recommend? I do want the cellular wireless option.
@jonmarcos8488 i had warrantied cameras with them before and the process was excruciating. I tossed it and said never again! Lol. I have had almost every brand replaced under warranty. Nearly all were very simple. SpyPoint was outsourced and wanted an hour or more on the phone troubleshooting a camera that was dead and wouldn’t power on.
Mine has been up for one month now, I like it ok and the only functionality complaint I have is trigger speed, it's sluggish to me and doesn't send as many photos as I like. I also have a complaint about he extra crap you have to buy to get "full hd" pictures. I recommend it but if you can toss a few extra dollars, get something nicer lol. Great camera for the public land hunter, and the budget hunter, not so much for the die hard private land guys. Just my opinion.
I got one today but just now saw your video and hopefully mine will work ok. It says it takes 12hrs to charge but my green light came on after 6 hours of charging. I tried to use the app to activate but the app doesn't have the feature it says it does just goes to login screen so, I went to the website to signup and activate and that's where I'm at right now. I haven't activated yet was hoping to get a referral so, me and the referee can both get rewards?
@@JoeTheFarmer I'm a little disappointed in the camera because in the description on the website I ordered it from said it had video but it only has photo. I have only used it for 3days now the first day it took over a thousand pictures of nothing so, that used up my 100 free transmission fast so, I lowered the sensitivity and repositioned it lower. I get a good signal and the battery still says 100% I raised the sensitivity to high at night because it didn't take any pictures the previous night and last night it took about 10 photos of opossum and rabbit; I was hoping for a deer but maybe tonight since it's under an apple tree. Overall I like the solar power and phone options but I'm really disappointed it didn't have video. I will probably return because of that but if you just want the photos it's not too bad.👍
This camera was on sale and was going to buy this or tacticam reveal x glad I didn't buy it as I have browning now and love the pic and video quality and would not be happy with crappy quality pics
Mine has been working for a year so far. I pay $15 /month for a subscription to get unlimited photos. So it all of a sudden stops taking pics about every few weeks. I have to take it down and reset etc. and it’s good again for another few week. The chat service is absolutely crappy ! This has stumped the customer service. The trigger speed is super slow misses many pics ….
Thanks for watching Garrett. Don’t need a cell contract with any of the cameras offered on the market. Can go month to month or buy a picture package. This camera just woefully underperforms the others that we have tested.
Crap! I just purchased a pack of four for my family property 😳 I hope I don't regret it after the season ends... The battery does play a huge part in this too. In one day my camera went from 100% to 90%... WTF!?
Sorry brother; but hope you get a season out of them! There are lots of good cameras out there in the same price range that won’t let you down. Hope these work flawlessly for you!!! If not, hit me up and I can help make a suggestion. Thanks for watching.
You will be fine mine works great for the price as long as I can tell buck or doe I don't need perfect pics . I'm one for not letting a couple hundred dollar camera out too many idiots . It seems to be camera snobs need perfect pics . Jmo
Has nothing to do with perfect pics. Like you; I just want to know what is walking around on my property and a relative pattern. I have walked by these cameras far too many times without them triggering to have ANY confidence in their worth. In addition, watched deer feed in front of them without one triggered photo. So, I guess when it comes to getting what I pay for I am a snob. I would rather buy a cheapo Moutrie or Treeline camera than spend a nickel on a camera that misses far too many important photos.
If you want to scout and you are not made of money, this is a great option. For the money you get a whole lot. Free 100 pics per month. No one else offers that. Every other camera you are going to pay monthly for. The battery life is fantastic and rechargeable. You will save money on batteries. Pictures are not perfect, yes, but you can tell what a deer is, what an elk is, what a bear is, what a coyote is the day it takes a picture. What exactly else do you need to know? It's getting a little premadonna that people want pics delivered to their couch, and they want them professional studio quality.
I appreciate your input. But my experience with many brands is that SpyPoint is by far the worst of the lot. Put a $39 non cell camera next to it and you will be shocked at what it misses. The plan is great and the photos are great, problem is the camera misses too many photos. Thanks for watching and good luck out there!
Spypoint is my first cellular cam. I used Reconix professionally in the Florida Keys for wildlife surveys. I have a slew of Primos cheapos that take decent pictures. But I hunt because I have kids to feed. I need to know where a cow elk is so I don't waste my gas money. I think this budget option is fantastic and a huge help to blue collar hunters everywhere. It saves battery cost, gas cost, and it offers a picture that is absolutely dicernable. You know what you are looking at. I don't actually care if you can count points and score a buck. And I'm sure the traveling Texans that do that will fork out the money for something else, and don't care if they are paying a monthly fee for photos. This is a great tool for the meat hunters, and I want to see this company succeed. @@JoeTheFarmer
@ameliamccombs4313 Makes sense my friend. Browning has a great cell cam that will be $79. We all started with SpyPoint…when it dies just look around before committing. Thanks for watching!
Spy point has a 2 year warranty on trail cameras I had a camera that I had for almost 2 years that went bad called spy point they replaced it at no charge. That's why they have a 2 year warranty on it yeah on it I have over 10 cameras I had to fail so far. One failed because of ants. If I do not have battery issues with none of the cameras it lasts about 2 months. I also use the 12 V rechargeable and that last all season. I believe the issue I have is ants. I posted a video where I had a camera that I opened up to check the electronics and outpoured the ants. So I have confidence in the spy point cameras because if you reach support they will replace the camera as long as us within the 2 year warrant.
@@JoeTheFarmer The support representative that I spoke to literally took less than 2 minutes to Realize that the problem can't be fixed and a replacement is necessary
Thats a much better experience than I had. I had a few go bad and it took weeks to get them replaced. I never had them last longer than 6 months but maybe I got a bad batch or something. I’m glad that you have had better luck!
I've watched your video to the very end. I'm just trying to get into the whole cellular camera thing. I would love to be in the drawing for camera or any other cameras to be given away. Thanks in advance and my our God continue to bless you and your family in Jesus Name.
If you have a solar cam , they need GOOD sunlight otherwise the internal battery is used up quick and they do not recharge as good as they say they do . Where I use my cameras , I NEVER put them out unless I use a metal case and Python cable , otherwise it's pointless .
Glad that you are having a good experience! The issue wasn’t the battery, it was how many photos it never took. If you put a cheap non cell camera right next to it, you will likely be shocked at the difference. Thanks for watching Marcia!
Just found your channel and I’m very upset. I bought 2 from academy and they worked about a week and then stopped sending photos. I contacted tech support and they said they were no good and sent me replacement’s. The replacement’s came yesterday and not even 24 hours later both are no good. Now I’m waiting on my second set of replacement’s. So far with these 4 it’s the same problem, “ not transmitting”. If these next 2 do the same, I’m through and will look into the Browning’s that you’re speaking of!!!
Great video - Other reviewers have stated that the app photos are grainy but when you pull the memory card out & load it into your computer the images are higher quality.. Not sure yet... let us know - Thanks for the great video...
Thanks for watching! And I appreciate the kind words. Pics on the card are better; still not the best you can get with other brands. Hope this helps!!!
@@JoeTheFarmer - I film at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in CA -WE'VE had brake in's & we need help.... Or enlist digital help... We're being attacked from CA Fellons / the policies .... We need help...
First thing I would do is MOVE! Ok, just kidding, sort of. The policies there are atrocious and getting worse. But, to solve your problem with a good camera I would look at the Browning, Tactacam or StealthCam Fusion X. They have great video and will help you nab the people breaking in. Now you just have to hope that the police will prosecute them. Sorry you are going through that
@@JoeTheFarmer it says, camera has yet to report to the app, and I restarted the camera, but I got rained out, any way to get it going atleast for a bit?
Man, I will be honest. I put them on the trash heap. Their customer service was not helpful and I had to take the “L”. I’m not really sure what steps to take. Sorry I’m not more helpful.
They are complete junk. All of mine started leaking after a month and shorting out. They asked me if the camera was outside. WTF Definately don't recommend these at all.
Hi Hawk Watch; thanks for watching! I enjoy testing all types of cameras; it’s just a fun thing I like doing. And I can say after using over a dozen brands…I would not waste the time, SD cards or batteries to ever put out another SpyPoint product. No offense and I’m no expert; but too many far better alternatives for the same money.
Have hear great things about Spartan for sure. Also Exodus. But we are testing another prototype this year that I think will change the game for price and capability. 😜
@@JoeTheFarmer good luck man. I would also recommend checking out some of spypoints other cameras it has always seemed that just the link micro struggles tbh. I don't have that big of a property so I just trail cams for security but will eventually be going to public land
Thanks buddy. And they lost me man. The camera in this video is already dead. Wont take pics and wont transmit. I’m using a lot of Browning Cams now and Treeline from Tractor Supply. That trail cam is awesome!
Watched your video to the end. Look forward to your next trail cam review

Thanks for the review. I was thinking about trying this camera out but now I will check into the Browning. Thanks for the information.
Thanks for watching!!!
This Video is helping me to decide what type of camera to buy for security for my land in the event of / Preparing if sh*t hits the fan.
Thanks for watching and glad it helped. You are blessed to have some land in this crazy world!
Good video, you are right on regarding the setup and picture quality
Thanks brother! Appreciate you watching. 👍🏼👊🏼
I saw your video after I had already purchased the camera. Never had a cell camera previously. I will keep you posted on my thoughts as to if it meets my needs or not. Very helpful video. Thanks!!
Thanks man! Hopefully it works well for you. 😁👍🏼👊🏼
Same just bought 2 on a big sale will see if it was worth it
Good luck!
Thank you Janice! I appreciate your kind words. 😁👍🏼
I have 3 of these and they work pretty good. The HD downloads help on the photos.
Hey Tony, thanks for watching! I think you are right. They work pretty good, but there are some great alternatives for around the same price (without the solar). The HD is an additional cost which isn’t as important with the other cameras but if that’s what you have it certainly beats buying new cameras. Take care!
Also a big Browning fan. Thanks for the honest reviews. Pros and cons exist across the board, and I appreciate your candor.
Thanks Tyler! Appreciate the kind words. We have some cool new reviews coming up; hope you check back in!
Where did you find a security box for $15? I can only find them for $40 anywhere.
So I just bought a twin pack and I find the same thing happening in mind one word one didn't and pictures are grainy I wish I would have seen your video earlier we appreciate you doing these demonstrations keep up the good work
Thanks William! Appreciate your support. More to come my friend so come back and see us!
Great video Joe lots of information on that spy point keep your videos coming very informative and really like the one about the salt Redmond salt saves a lot of money thank you
Thanks for watching John! I appreciate your kind words. Good luck this season!
Can not wait to see the new camera. I have 10 spypoints on my 155 acres
Was here to the end. LOL. Can’t wait for the next reveal. Could not use for hunting, but might be able to use to track trespassing & wildlife.
Thanks Eleni! As always appreciate ya! 😜👍🏼. Next few videos should be a lot of fun! 😁😁😁
I liked your review of the dpypoint solar camera
Thanks for watching Kevin!
Just started watching. Looking forward to more on new trail cams and what's ahead. Want to get into it and waiting to see what see have to show us.
Mr G from Pa.
Thanks for watching Mr G! PA is beautiful country. More trail cam videos to come for sure. Take care!
I wish I wouldve saw this before I bought them but they are charging now and I'm going to put them out this evening. Thank you buddy
Hopefully they work out well for you! Keep me posted brother. And good luck this season! 👍🏼👊🏼
Just watched your video and starting to test this camera. Key for me will be the solar capability as I will be 6 hours from the camera most of the time. Appreciate your review
Thanks Don! Appreciate you watching my friend. I hope you have better luck than I did with the SpyPoint cameras. Hope you keep us posted!
Running 4 but all around £50. Bought another for £124 with solar power but still testing it. Really need one with 4G or all but prices still bit high. I will keep looking and watching your videos. Cheers, Pedro from UK
Thanks for watching Pedro! Try to stay cool over there. Sounds like this week will be another hot one in the UK.
Excellent review I have been looking at buying one of these thank you 👍👍
Can't wait to see the review.
Didn’t last long enough for a follow up. Had two and both died. Just better options out there in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
My buddy uses the Reveal cellular camera and loves it and I think that's going to be my next camera. Current camera is the Spypoint link LTE
Reveal is a solid camera. My only complaint is the build quality. They are great for a season; maybe two. But I promise it will be a MAJOR upgrade over the SpyPoint. Thanks for watching and good luck this season!
Your a great host love watching your videos honesty is key to gaining more viewers like myself great job
Tony from Moncton NB 🇨🇦
Thank you Tony. I appreciate your kind words my friend. 👍🏼👊🏼
I have 3 of these cameras, hd photos to cell are very sharp! solar works awesome!
Glad that they are working out well for you!
@@JoeTheFarmer I think you have to "request" an HD photo be sent to you. It sends low resolutions as standard.
@@JoeTheFarmer thanks, you too.
I have the Micro Lite cameras & I am disappointed with the picture quality, it seems that they give you a crappy resolution pic so they can sell you their HD pic package, very unethical. Good review on the Spypoint Solar.
Thanks for watching Joe!
I liked your review, looking for best solar/cell camera..Suggestions?
Thanks for watching Rick. I would look into the Browning with the solar panel. Really I would try the Browning without the solar charger first because it is excellent on batteries.
I know your vid is a couple years old now, but i just found it while looking at these cams. Hopefully they've improved with less graininess now? I'll have to search your channel for a follow-up review or maybe gain insight from the comments. Thanks for your honest thoughts!
Thanks for watching! After many tests I can honestly say steer clear of SpyPoint. Too many other good brands for the same price.
Lol
You can get HD photos in the app for those photos that you want to investigate further i have found.
Thanks Kenneth; I have run a few and none have lived long enough to be able to get the hd pics. Some have had a great experience, but even the cam in this video stopped transmitting about a month after this was filmed. Just better options out there. Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed this honest review.
Thanks Rob! Appreciate you watching my friend.
I really like your videos
Thanks James. I appreciate you saying that. 😁👍🏼👊🏼
@@JoeTheFarmer To be fair… I did buy a few screw mounts for my own property. Great suggestion!
😁👍🏼👊🏼
Just bought 2 micro link lte cams . 🤣
Time will tell … picked up a couple of solar battery packs ($49. ) so I can mount the camera out of the sun but solar panel into the sun . Also have a couple of yagi antennas left over from cell boosters that should improve reception .
Sounds like a setup brother! Hope you have good luck with them. Keep me posted bro!
Deciding on one check them all out
I would pass buddy. I have run a lot of different brands and this one is 👎🏼. Go for the Browning Defender Scout Pro (we have a video on it). Bulletproof and great customer service. Batteries also last FOREVER.
You said you’d go with Tactacam reveal, one of the old ones. What model are you referring too? Thanks.
I honestly like the old one better than the reveal x. If you have the budget; the Browning’s I reviewed have turned out to be workhorses. And the Coverts work great too.
Just found your channel and subbed. Looking forward to more reviews.
Thank you and welcome to the channel buddy!!! Appreciate the support my friend. 😁👍🏼👊🏼
I have 3 of these. 2 work 1 has stopped after a couple weeks.
Sorry man. I’m not optimistic for the surviving 2. 🫣
Appreciate I'll continue to follow
I find that when it gets cold. Like 40 and below they won't send pictures or just not taking picture.
Not sure man. They are so bad I don’t have any running anymore.
Always use strap and sticks to adjust angle regardless of brand from reconyx to cheap
Do you think reconyx is worth the upgrade over others?
Pros and cons all of them cameras, spypoint lte antenna, free 100 pics per month, online through cellphone service love it....
I’m glad that you are happy with it. But honest question; have you had experience with other cameras?
I got one. Struggling with signal. How do you set the time and dates on this camera?
Hey! Should be able to do everything from the app. I don’t have any more of these cameras as they have all died! Thanks for watching!
You can pull hd pics over cellular. They do it like that so it’s not send a bunch of high def. Pictures.
I know that it can send hd pics, but my problem is that all of the SpyPoints I have ever used have died/stopped transmitting in a matter of weeks (this one included). Just too many better options out there.
We have the link micro and have had alot of issues with it as well. It is working now but the quality of the picture is rough.
Good luck with it man. I hope it works great for you. But we have tested a bunch and same result. So many good options out there for the money.
Looking for my first cell camera
Dont do SpyPoint! Lol. We have a bunch of videos to help you choose, but take the time to think of what you need. You will end up with more than 1!
It would be nice if they at least put a 16 megapixel camera on the trail cam so we can get better picture quality
Pretty sure that most take 16mp photos now. Just need to adjust in settings. Only caveat is that your sd card will fill up fast.
Great video thanks for the info
Thank you Joshua!
I love my solar, when the leaves fall it stays charged all seasons! I had a reveal and I thought it was much more pixalated...
I respect that and am glad you like it. I have had too many fail buddy.
@@JoeTheFarmer I'll say however... I've had some spypoint cameras that just do not like certain SD cards and the pictures wouldn't be as good. Then change cards n they are awesome but the changed card would be great in another...it's like they have personalities 😂
Totally! My issue has always been they either stop transmitting altogether or miss too many photos. I am glad that they are working for you!!!
@@JoeTheFarmer they haven't missed any pictures for me but they are all different
Yessir. I may have gotten some bad ones. 🤷🏻♂️
i have had issues with these as well. but my brother and friend bought the same ones but later in the year last year and have had no issues. not sure if its old vs new technology but i think im going to try the new flex out.
@@JoeTheFarmer thanks i just found them for 119 each think i will take your advice
I’m telling you brother; SpyPoint is the 86 corolla of the trail cam world. So many better options.
i am working as technical support in spypoint i want to share something as a tech i will recommend putting your device into annual plan because of this reasons . . . you invest money to make hunting more easy right? but sometimes renew the plan gives you some problem like card not able to do any transaction, the card expired, or the website not able to accept so if your camera is on annual plan you get peace of mind . . . . also i advice to do long format on SD card before use and also every once in awhile to make sure the camera works on its full potential
Good video
Thanks Mark!
What is the best trail camera with solar panel?
I would go with a Browning with Lithium batteries. Won’t even need the solar panel. Set it to transfer 1-2x daily
Would you do a review on MoultrieMobile?
I would but I I won’t put anymore cameras out now since the season is almost here. Will def keep it on the list for next year. 👍🏼👊🏼
Gotcha. They have been pretty solid for me. Sorry you are having issues bro. Could be the coverage or sd card…or just a bad camera
Just found your channel am currently locked in cuddyback cells I like the camera sending pix to my phone....what state you all from Minnesota here
Hey Randy, thanks for watching! We are in Middle Tennessee. How do you like the cuddybacks? I haven’t tried them yet.
@@JoeTheFarmer will be waiting for your next video and drawing
😁👍🏼👊🏼
Mine worked well, farm is 40 miles from my house and it sent pics instantly. Then after a month , I moved it probably 500 yards from it was initially and it wouldn't transmit,
that's been my problem ever since. I'd bring it home and it works instantly. Take it back and it may or may not work. If it is working- I can not move it or it will stop sending pictures. So annoying.. Oh and it always says signal 90 or 100%
spent 30 minutes on the online chat with customer service and all they can tell me is to re-format it.
Take care!
Good review
Thanks Omar!
Check out our playlist on trail cams. We have tested a few and the Strike Force line has been really good!
Picture quality is good for the price for people who don’t want to pay big bucks for other camera
Acie, thanks for watching! But trust me; you have to check out other cams. We have run a bunch and SpyPoint is the lowest quality that we have used.
is the only way to get higher quality downloads to get the SD card or can you request HD in the app? Like you do with Scoutek?
I think you can pay to get the hd downloads; but it’s been a while since I used this cam. It died shortly after the video. Lol
@@JoeTheFarmer did SPYPOINT cover it under the warranty?
Hey Ashes, thanks for watching! Your comments are spot on. I think you nailed it. Great summary...hope you will come back for some more videos!!!
@@JoeTheFarmer always coming back!

Excellent video..
Wow; thanks Dean!!! Appreciate you watching buddy! 😁👍🏼👊🏼
Hope it works well for you man. I have had zero luck with SpyPoint. Keep me posted if it works well!
@@JoeTheFarmer I will thanks!👍
I would return it man. Unfortunately it won’t get better.
@@JoeTheFarmer it came with a 90 day return policy from walmart. I'm going to return. Thanks for the review!
This camera was on sale and was going to buy this or tacticam reveal x glad I didn't buy it as I have browning now and love the pic and video quality and would not be happy with crappy quality pics
You absolutely made the right call. Plus, Browning’s warranty service is fantastic. SpyPoint not so much. Thanks for watching buddy!!! 😁👍🏼👊🏼
Better options out there my friend.
Isnt the strength of this that you dont need a cell contract though?
@Joe The Farmer sure seemed like all you complained about was the quality of pics. To each his own I like the cam and price point.
Fair enough. Glad you are happy with it.
My Spypoint Solar failed after one season and customer supported by phone sucks!
You are 100% right. Honestly cannot believe that they are still on the market.
I watched to the very end I'm looking for a camera that is good for security.
Thanks for watching Gary! I trust the Browning camera for security my friend. Solid camera and excellent battery life!
Mine filled with condensation and stopped working. SPYPOINT was no help.
Not surprised. Sorry to hear that. For the money, the Browning seems to be built the best.
How long did it take for the warranty process?
@@JoeTheFarmer less than two weeks
@@JoeTheFarmer The support representative that I spoke to literally took less than 2 minutes to Realize that the problem can't be fixed and a replacement is necessary
Thats a much better experience than I had. I had a few go bad and it took weeks to get them replaced. I never had them last longer than 6 months but maybe I got a bad batch or something. I’m glad that you have had better luck!
@@JoeTheFarmer you may want to look at other causes. I had an ant issue with one.
I've had mine for 2 years now and leave it out in winter, I've never had issues and yes it does charge good. I haven't had to charge my battery yet
Sorry you had a bad experience man. They are just not good products.
The SPYPOINT wants you to pay extra for the HD pics above and beyond the cellular plan fee
There is a free plan that gets you 100 pics.
@@noobjitsu1743 and it ain't worth a flip!
@@greenmother1960 It depends how many animals are going through your spot.
Barbara is right. 🤷🏻♂️
They leak and don’t last. Both of mine died in less than 1 year. It does rain outdoors. Just to let spypoint know
🤣🤣🤣. Well said brother
Sorry you are going through that
Does it do video
Brother, it struggles to take pictures. The cameras in the video died shortly after filming. I would stay far away from SpyPoint.
I can’t even get mine to connect
Yep. They are paper weights.
I 💯 agree brother. So many better options. They don’t even try…
Overall the micro link is worth if that’s all you have
Hi Hawk Watch; thanks for watching! I enjoy testing all types of cameras; it’s just a fun thing I like doing. And I can say after using over a dozen brands…I would not waste the time, SD cards or batteries to ever put out another SpyPoint product. No offense and I’m no expert; but too many far better alternatives for the same money.
@@JoeTheFarmer I agree,I would recommend spartan or blaze video wifi cameras if you don't wanna spend the money on data
👍
This thing disintegrated on me !!!
Sorry man. They really are the worst camera on the market.
@@JoeTheFarmer which Camera do you recommend?
@ishmelly210 the Browning Pro Scout Defender has been very durable. Same price point as SpyPoint.
