I also bought one of these new Flex S camera's and was completely disappointed in the battery life. With the camera only taking 11 pictures on "transmit on each detection" I was down to 72% battery, the solar panel can't keep the the internal battery charged during long sunny summer days, it clearly won't work well when I need it to during the fall / early winter hunting season. I was shocked to find out that if you buy the LIT-22 battery pack, the solar panel will not charge it. I have spent several hours on the phone with Spypoint customer service and they had finally agreed to replace the camera, then quickly told me that they didn't have any camera's in stock for warranty replacement and it might be 2 to 3 weeks before I will be shipped a replacement. For these reasons when my warranty replacement comes in, I am returning the camera to Cabela's. Was hoping the Flex S was going to be the next evolution of the Link Micro S and would come with a LIT-22 battery and the camera solar panel would charge it. This is a huge fail in product development in my opinion. Between Spypoint's horrible customer service and sub par new product performance, it's time for me to give their competitor's a chance at my business.
I had the same issue had my camera up for 4 days I had 184 pictures n 4 days all deer. Battery’s died and bought a rechargeable battery. Now reading this comment wishing I never spent 50dollars for it. And SPYPOINT customer service Sucks. I spent 15mins on the phone then finally just waited for a call back n never got that call back . I’ll be switching deer cams that’s for sure
@@Jonesy522 Spypoint sent me a replacement since the solar panel didn't seem to be charging the internal battery. As soon as I got the replacement, I returned the new one to Cabela's for a full refund and bought another Link Micro Solar. I am sure in a year or so, Spypoint will have the bugs worked out on the Flex S, but never again will I buy a product that they have just launched.
Same exact issue the micro s with the spy point battery lasts like 6 months the flex s lasts way less then a month I don't think the solor does anything for it I almost think it actually lasts even less time then the g36 with the lit 22 battery I don't get it almost as if the solor is some how draining the battery
Just in case you haven’t heard these S cameras, the solar panel does not charge the solar battery sufficient to keep the camera running. I actually laid mine in the sun full sun for 12 hours with the camera off and it only charged my battery by 5%. It also kept making pictures of absolutely nothing.
I bought the flex a model last weekend and before putting it out I charged the camera 12 hours and the solar panel hasn’t charged it at all, it’s been a full week and it’s down to 12% for the solar panel

So having bought one and the solar panel not doing a good job keeping it charged. I bought a 120v to 12v adapter plug. I'm using at my camp site with 120v on hand. It won't power from the 12v in. When turned on it goes right to the solar battery and AA batteries. Once depleted it shuts down and won't use the 12v in. What gives?

Hey, thanks for watching! It will definitely still work! Charge that beast up with the USBC cable they give you and you should be all set. Once your lithium battery shows up, pop it in and you’ll have even more juice. Best of luck this season 🦌👍🏻
Great video, very informative. I'm leaning heavily towards this cam as I like that it's designed to be mostly hands off and I live hours away from where I hunt. Reading the comments pertaining to the solar panel being inadequate, I'm wondering if simply reducing the frequency of photo transmissions to once per day (or less frequent if possible) would reduce the strain on the battery/solar panel and essentially allow it to be self-sustaining. Has anyone experimented with this at all that could speak on it?

@@mountainbuck I have corn on the ground in front of it on instant mode, but if I add another solar panel I was wondering if the solar battery would help, cause it’s not charging at all
Adding a solar panel with lithium battery would definitely help. I’m a big fan of solar panels for cellular trail cam. You may also want to consider taking it off instant mode. That definitely drains the battery.
I have this cam. It's expensive. The cam itself was $150 then a yearly fee of $120 for the cell service. I have found that picture quality is not that great and there's quite a delay time in the photos getting transmitted. I can't recommend people spending this kind of money. Also if you spend another $100 you can be in the CLUB and do things with the cam that for the price should be included.
For these cell cams, I would continue to use AA batteries as a back up. The solar panels do a decent job, but the photo transmission over the network also chews up battery life (in addition to taking photos/videos, infrared use, etc.)

Hey Cody! There are a couple of settings you want to check on your FLEX-S. The first one is Motion Delay. If this is set for a long period of time (such as one minutes), then the camera will wait 60 seconds between photos. You’ll want to reduce the motion delay to something like 10 seconds unless you find you are getting too many photos or videos and then you can dial it back. The second thing you may want to consider is the Multishot feature. You can select up to 3, which will take a series of three photos (one right after the other in sort of a burst mode). This will also help to make sure you are seeing more of the deer and what they are doing. Hope this helps and best of luck this season 🦌👍🏻

I have 2 of them. They can’t be on Instant mode unless you have a car battery connected to it. It will discharge in 2 or 3 days. Have had 3 different model spypoints all issues….longevity issues and customer service terrible. Junk
The Link S I own has been great but Spypoint customer service is horrible
Hey Jim! Thanks for the feedback and for watching 👍🏻
Thank you
Thank you for watching!
I'm not really impressed with this camera. My battery keeps dying & it keeps shutting off
Hey Michael. Do you have it set up on a feeder or in a spot where you get a high volume of photos?
I have 2 of them. They can’t be on Instant mode unless you have a car battery connected to it. It will discharge in 2 or 3 days. Standard mode with 4 times sync per day will be a much better way to set it up for battery savings. That means every 6 hours it will send pics if it detected something. The solar panel on them does not provide enough charge to be affective. They take good pics and video.
@@sako4methanks for your insight! 👍🏻
Same issue
👏👏👍
Thanks Alex!
My Flex-S was complete garbage. So many issues. Also unbelievably bad customer service. I used mine for target practice
lol. Sorry to hear you’ve had trouble. Mine is still working ok for me.
@@mountainbuck lol. But I’m all fairness. When it actually worked. It was really good
I can relate. I’ve actually shot a trail cam before myself 🤣🤣🤣
Complete junk! Solar doesn’t work and reading the comments it’s a common problem. Bought the battery pack for $79 Canadian thinking that would help but it doesn’t solar panel does not work! Junk. My micro s lte’s hold their charge. Not impressed with SPYPOINT at all! Junk.
My flex s was complete junk straight out of the box. Then after 3 days of partial operation it quit altogether. Had it for 3 weeks and have replaced the batteries 5 times. SPYPOINT customer service is also beyond terrible. DO NOT BUY!!!
Ah man! Sorry to hear that. I didn’t use this much beyond the test period. Sorry you had trouble and thanks for watching
Stay the hell away from these. The solar does NOT charge the battery. I'm returning mine.
Hey thanks for watching. Did you charge the solar panel up before setting it out?
Who cares about the solar panel when the camera doesn't stay attached to the network or system? Absolute garbage.
This product is garbage unless you can touch it.
