Private school educated, english-speaking kids generally tend to belong to upper-caste families, who happen to be fairer than lower-caste Indians generally speaking. Delhi is dominated by fair-skinned Khatris, Aroras, and Sikhs. I'm a little on the fairer-side myself being a Sindhi-Punjabi mix. And no, most Indians are not pitch dark. We have a good number of very fair-skinned people, and an equal amount of very dark people, but most Indians are light-brown/wheatish to brown in skin tone.
Its more about facial features than skin tone, the fairer skinned Indians are mostly from the north where gradual waves of Iranian DNA have been introduced into the region over time. Historical Iranians are Caucasians must like Europeans regarding features and Caucasian fashion dominates current trends. In contrast the darker skinned Indians in the south have more harsh features like Africans.

I don't understand why dark skinned people cannot be sweet? Dark skinned people can be sweet if they have a sweet character. Dark skin people can be very sensitive when others make a joke of their skin colour. If you have a high self esteem, you won't be affected with what people say.

Most of the Indians and south Americans are actually from Greek/Spanish ancestry! So basically we turned out be like them, n my mom is light skin and my papa is dark skin so I turned to be dusky skin man and has that Mediterranean look! So, skin tone it's just nothing...we should start appreciate the difference of our skin tone and live happily. I would personally date a Dark, Tall and Handsome guys.
