    Saw them live at Puyallup, WA yesterday and they killed it! After all these years they still have that amazing old sound!

    I think it's very cool that they're performing all of Chicago II.

    I am super happy to see a family friend get to live out his musical singing dreams on a stage with a legendary band. You deserve this, Neil. Enjoy. :)

    I saw Chicago in Nov in Western Michigan. It was the last stop on their 2018 tour. They haven't sounded that good since the early days. It was great to see them at a smaller venue. The new replacements are a step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.

    I watched this line up live about a week ago. Tbh the audio picked up on this camera doesn't give it justice to what I heard live. The vocals sound insanely clean, but hard to convince from this audio. I watched this before the concert and was surprised live.

    In 1978 they tried to replace Terry with a guitarist that had at least "some" of Terry's style in his playing. When Peter left they tried to replace him with someone who sounded like, and played somewhat like -Peter. When they got rid of Danny, as good as Tris was, he didn't have Danny's style even close! -to me, (being a drummer), one of the things that unmistakably makes the Chicago sound/feel/structure etc. is Danny's drumming style! -it never had that after Danny was ousted (not that ANYONE could play like Danny -only Danny can, but they could try to get at least a little closer!) -and will likely never have it again... I know they want to move on, but if they're moving on... why try to get someone as close as they can to Terry, and Peter etc. They could've still moved on but kept at least SOME the sound that made them what they are. What bugs the hell out of me is that all the original members (save Terry) are still alive (I believe)... yet for whatever reasons they can't band together again and recreate what got them there in the first place... it happens I guess... oh, and one more thing. Jimmy Pankow -please stop going on stage semi-shirtless! -it's not hip anymore... mostly because you're not 20 anymore, but also because you're making somewhat of a spectacle of yourself!

      eham1 I agree with you 1000% concerning Danny and his style. To me, Danny is every bit as much the distinctive sound of Chicago as Terry, Peter, and the horns were.

    Miss Tris and Jeff. That line up was the best since the original 7

    It’s like replacing John Paul and George but keeping Ringo and touring as The Beatles.

    It's tough to get on board with this lineup, when the replacements' replacements have been replaced. I mean, Tris beat cancer, is 66 years old and just got married, so who can blame him for going back to Kenny Loggins, where he doesn't have to do 100+ shows a year? Wally is going a commendable job in his spot. I miss Bill and Jason terribly...here again, Lou Pardini is a dynamo and an outstanding choice. The guy Neil has a great voice in general, but he is a lounge singer, not a rocker. So odd to see the lead singer without a bass guitar.

      @alejandropaquin7335 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly, what you said about Neil, hard to see a lead singer without an instrument, most of the time, his style is way off!

      I think Neil will grow into the band with some more time. He's only been with them for just shy of a year, maybe this time next year, he'll be jelling with them and we'll be glad he's aboard. It would also help if he has some stuff to sing when they do their next album (Please let them do one more at least)

    Love the material..... Neil has an awkward stage preference... The tenor in Chicago needs to also play bass.... optics of the tenor without a bass makes it feel like an extraordinary cover band..... Great video work..... Thanks for posting!

    I saw the show in Albuqueruqe. We didn't have the big screens in the background. Maybe the stage wasn't big enough for them. Still a good show though.

      The lead singer is a lounge singer. Great pipes but I just don't care for this lineup. Trombone boy needs to get over himself. Nevermind. I have been over this band since Bill Champlin left. Would rather listen to CTA, Danny Seraphine's band.

    As a millennial who grew up to Chicago songs with Bill and Jason as vocalists, for me Chicago is Jason and Jason is Chicago. Terry and Peter may be great but short-lived. Jason's 30 years with the band is no joke.He lost his youth and vocal prowess with their tedious touring with the band for 3 decades making Chicago his legacy and he will remain in our hearts forever. However, for as long as my two crushes Keith Howland and Lou Pardini are present. This will always be the coolest band ever!

    I will give this band credit for continuing on with new replacements.....but as an old fan of Chicago from back in the 70's with the original seven members, I will always compare them from how they sound now to what they were back then. Sadly, there is no comparison! The vocalists they have now are not Terry and Peter. Lee is not a good vocalist and should just play his trumpet.

    • @dokkendave2750
      @dokkendave2750 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lee's vocals did actually work very well in the studio on "This Time" lol. But I agree, Lee singing "Colour My World" etc on stage nowadays doesn't cut it for me

      come on! It's about the music not the people; we're all interchangeable, the music ain't! Besides, I heard/saw some Chicago concerts of the originals, ALL the originals, when they were sloppy, all drugged up, and a mess; sounded not very good. This right here sounds better than some, not all, but some of the performances.

  • @RCGoetzke
    @RCGoetzke 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    After Harry (Brad Dexter), Lee (Robert Vaughn), Britt (James Coburn), and Bernardo (Charles Bronson) bit the dust, there could be no more Magnificent Seven. These guys should have followed suit many years ago.

    Chicago had a great career, the longest of any American rock band...but its really time to quit. They dont sound good anymore. The replacements of the replacements are now gone..and the new singer is terrible. Walt is gone now too but even the one constant, the horn section isnt there anymore.

    Mr. Jimmy Trombone is too loud and needs to cool his on-stage presence. The horn section should be a balanced sound, not the blaring, sometimes off-key trombone.
