I'm on my second boxer ownership, and there is no better breed to me. Just simply one in a lifetime breed IMHO!
My first was a male, and currently a female. I'm an amputee, and how she is with me is like she was trained professionally, but she wasn't. Between learning herself and what I've taught her... She is priceless. At one time, boxers were ranked in the top three for the smartest breed. I can definitely attest to that with mine. Whether you know this or not, but boxers were officially the first breed to work for the police depabefore shepards were. Research it. I have read and researched so much on boxers that I know a lot about them and it's not just hear say either. Know the difference. Great WIN WILMA!! Keep going.
@@nrfa6229 I am on my second boxer. I have a male European boxer this time bit different personality then my old American boxer. My current boxer is a bit more stubborn hard to belive a boxer can be stubborn but still same goofy dog as my old boxer.

I was lucky enough to experience childhood with a male boxer , we named him “ Spatz” ....best dog i ever had by far, they are great companions, and will do whatever you ask of them with enthusiasm.... my only con with the breed is that you might lose them at around age 8,910...not longest lifespan for their size

I miss my Boxer too, mine didn't die, someone thought we weren't taking care of her, they didn't believe my Dad, we couldn't afford to pay for the expensive private vets of their choice, we could have still had her, so she supposedly went to a Senior Dog Sanctuary in our state, se we don't know if she's still there, fostered or adopted. The Boxer here looks like she likes that one part

I believe it was Boxer, Siberian Husky, Mastiff and Samoyed. Hard to tell because they all just kinda crowded up there at the end

Im so excited Wilma won! I'm biased for boxers, but if I were judging, that Doberman wouldve won, SORRY! Gorgeous dog. All of them, but the Doberman was a little something extra and i cant believe the judge didnt see it. Oh well... Wilma wouldve been my second pick!

I love all the dogs but I don't understand these competitions and how they work lol. I love the fact though that everyone's screaming like school girls when they see a dog running 😂
The dogs are judge by how close they represent the breed by their physical characteristics which are criteria through the AKC. So one breed will be isolated into their own and usually the best of their own breed go onto the Westmister where all the breeds compete in their own category.(Working, Sporting, Herding, etc.) Then the best from all categories compete for Best in Show. It's really tough to decide Best of Show seeing how the dogs are already best of their breed and category. I think abit of bias may come into play when choosing a winner.

They do! It really lets them show their personalities and emotions even more! Such an expensive breed anyway, but so much better with natural ears and tail. I love when dogs have the type of tail that they carry over their back. Don't know why, it's just so cute!

@@nataliefranzen1114Wilma's ears were done by a very well known and respected vet, via laser pointing and proper aftercare. The healed within a week. Compare that to more socially acceptable desexing. You're removing more, removing entire organs, vital organs keep that in mind, and healing takes months if they do heal fully. How is that itself not mutilation but safely removing the useless part of the pinna is?

What an absolute disgrace that ear cropping and tail docking is still going on in the U.S. It's the AKC at fault but also owners to put their dogs through these cruel and painful mutilations. Poor Wilma.
Couldn't agree more. Perhaps her human ought to have his ears unnecessarily cropped and a limb amputated. Vile that this still goes on

Here in Germany, where I'm from, is cutting off tails and ears absolutely forbidden. I think that is a good thing.
Same in the uk. It really upsets me seeing a dog with cropped ears. Totally unnecessary mutilation that benefits nobody other than a few selfish humans who for some bizarre reason think it is preferable to the dogs beautiful natural floppy ears

It's not completely forbidden. It's still available by several vets to approved dogs, whether it be preventitive or treatment. And it's not a good thing in the long term. We see dogs being denied importation or entry into the country, denied housing, being given up, and a huge uptick in people doing it themselves and not doing it correctly.

Yes, it would be worse, crybaby Euro. I think natural ears and tails on traditionally cropped/docked breeds don't look nice. They look sharper and more regal with cropped ears; they have a nicer outline with a docked tail.

There's nothing saying the dog HAS to be cropped/docked. But it's definitely the more popular choice.
@@raoulvolfoni1800God did not selectively breed these dogs for a purpose. We did. The boxer is traditionally a working dog, and upright, more biologically natural shaped ears were and still are optimal for a lot of these dogs.

I like boxers....I would have picked Wilma too....how do we know that.judge just likes boxers and that's why he picked Wilma?? LOL.....I could see if it was just a boxer competition and you picked the best looking boxer...that makes sense, but to judge a boxer against a mastiff or Husky...what the. f@ck? How do we know what this judge's preferences in dogs are?? Seem like bullsh!t to me.

Enough with the cropped ears.
Why? Is a part of the breed. It's not required, but it's not only historical in the breed but serves a purpose with the many working boxers left today.

The ears and tail weren't cut off. They were cropped and docked. People can own cropped and docked dogs are still love them plenty. It's an elective procedure. Just like dew claw removal or spaying and neutering. The difference? Crop/dock is less invasive, heals faster, and is done and a select time.
It should be illegal to cut ears..it’s excruciating for the dog.
Illegalizing it would only lead to more people doing it irresponsibly. It's far from excruciating. Puppies are back to being puppies the same day.

Cropping and docking is far from mutilation. Mutilation is causing severe and excessive harm to something for personal gain. Cropping and docking are minimally invasive and safe procedures performed by the trained and licensed vets in controlled environments.
I love boxer dogs but it is an absolute crime to mutilate any dog by cropping their ears and docking their tails unless for a health reason, which wasn't the case here. Wilma's human ought to have their ears cropped and a limb amputated unnecessarily. See how they like it. Boxers floppy ears are the best. Poor Wilma. So sad.
Maybe the owner is circumcised. Seriously get over yourself. Do you go up to women with babies and chastise them if they have their sons circumcised? Or yell at parents for putting braces on kids or piercing their daughters ears? None of those are necessary for survival either. But they make life easier. Wilma is in better condition and taken better care of than 99% of dogs out there. Take your cruelty cries and shove em where that stick is.
@@joeg6114 what planet are you on comparing braces that can be removed to circumcising a child, which is abhorrent and unnecessary mutilation unless medically required in my opinion. If an adult chooses to be circumcised, fair enough, but a child has no choice in the matter, just like the poor dogs who have their ears cropped for so-called cosmetic reasons (even though boxer dogs with floppy ears are adorable).
@@nataliefranzen1114 children don’t get to make these decisions because they are children. Braces are perfectly comparable here. They are not necessary for survival yet are done for cosmetic reasons. Just because you deem braces in your ok category does not mean its not a good analogy. As a male who was both circumcised as a baby and wore braces, I can tell you with authority it is not abuse. I have no recollection of the circumcision and I am thankful everyday my parents put braces on me cause I had some effed up teeth. Get over yourself and stop trying to turn cropping/docking into something it isn’t.

It's far from mutilation if you actually search up the definition. It has nothing to do with the kennel club either. Wilma's ears were done by a very well known and respected vet, and were some of the first to be done with lasers, which have since been provent to be the optimal method.

Why do people mutilate dogs ears and tails? It is not what the dog naturally looks like so why judge them as breed specific show dogs ? Judge the dog as it naturally looks like, then it would be competitive. Can't stand people mutilating their dogs !!!!!!!!
Cropped ears are from from mutilation when you look at real mutilation and how cropping is done. The judge doesn't judge the ears, they judge the whole and, but when it comes to ears they're judging the ear set, function, size, and weight.

Worst dogs ever no purpose
Boxers were bred to be versatile and utilitarian working dogs. They still fulfill that purpose today. You can find them service, therapy, and esa work, SAR, sports, etc.
