I LOVE the amount of affection Kaz showers on the dog - on the table, getting ready to do the down & back and on the go around. And then when they win - the first thing he does is hug the dog!
@@susanroutt6690 Hi Susan. I've only ever owned the toy breed. My beloved Christian passed away last August. I've been called a "Poodle Snob" because I won't consider getting any other breed. That's fine by me. I'm having some health issues right now and I am on the mend. As soon as I am in a better position, I will be looking for another Poodle. This time though, I have decided to go the rescue route. Cheers Susan.
I used to have a little grey toy poodle his name was Orby. He was so sweet when he was a puppy he would whine and jump up onto my bed just to be near me😊
Kaz Hosaka, handler of Sage, been in showing 45 yrs, specializing in toy & mini poodles. Has may Breed & Group wins. He's retiring, may be was sentimental fave.
What an incredible group of finalists. I grew up with Poodles and German shepherds and my mother was an AKC breeder. They were a part of our family and I would watch how she would study the histories and lineages. When I saw the poodle stand after being placed down by her handler and trot off I knew we were looking at perfection. As the poodle got comfortable with the applause she radiated elegance and happiness and showed incredibly. I so badly wanted to see the Giant Schnauzer win as I now own a Giant Schnauzer but that Poodle is perfection. The German Shepherd had one of the most elegant strides I've ever seen in a German Shepherd but the Poodle was absolutely fabulous and immaculate. Congratulations to all those beautiful dogs and handlers. Congratulations to the Poodle and what a wonderful achievement for the handler who is now retiring. I was crying happy tears as well 💓
Glad to see someone understands what dog shows about. Its not about which is liked by one that owns a breed, & think that one should win . And those poodle hating bc of show clip, are ignorant. Sage was groomed to perfection , & Mercedes, th gliding smooth effortless gait..
Kaz Hosaka, Sage handler, retiring after 45 yrs. He was in his 20s, I knew him when I was showing Irish Setters, in 80s. He had many wins w/ toy& mini poodles,
I doubt they will ever find a beautiful dog like that in a shelter… dogs like her are only seen a few times in ones life time. And they take a lot of work and training and high quality good food and shots baths brushing special care . And if they don’t want there teeth to fall out they don’t feed raw soft food. It’s dangerous. They need good quality dry chunks to help keep the tarter off the teeth so they don’t end up with gum disease and you don’t have high vet bills. I raised 56 champions mostly American Cocker spaniels and standard poodles.
I don't understand why in the US they show Schnauzers still with ears and tail cut. This is cruel and forbidden for long here in Europe. I'm a retired prof handler.
Been acceptable for decades, & done for reasons. I'm a dobie fancier, that is their " look" don't need w/ them ! U may have th perfect conformation specimen bt won't win here in US bc AKC standard calls for be cropped& docked. Not cruel, tails done 2-3 days after birth, ears under anthesia,& properly cared for will be fine. Th bushy tailed like, Corgis, Springers, Welsh, Clumber, Ausies... actually look better w/ tails. But I prefer cropped docked Scnauzers, Corsos, tails off rottw. & ears off AmStaff..
They do the tails when 3 days old they do feel it and it’s still allowed in England and other countries because they don’t feel it if done right. Ears look better cropped on schnauzers and all the ones that are usually shown that way they are supposed to do that around 4 months and they deaden the ears so they don’t feel it tails on working dogs like that it’s not only for looks it’s for safety if they are doing their job it can get broken or worse ripped off by another animal. Read your AKC dog books. Pets don’t need ears done but tails yes.
I knew Ann Rogers Clark , poodle breeder, first Westm win was w/ toy Poodle. After handling became all breed judge, of some over 100 breeds, I probly showed my Irish Setters at that time in 80s, she may have judgedthem . I think she was judge at Westm. more then any other. She was called " A national treasure". Passed in 06.
Loved the Giant Schnauzer, but they all looked as they were trotting - or floating if you couldn't see the legs because of the long coats - on air. Pure charm and grace.
Thank you Sage for bringing your A game so your beloved handler Kaz could retire at the top of the mountain!!!! Stunning poodle handled by a dedicated handler!
Sage was the ugliest dog there. Not really her fault though, she is a show poodle and humans have ruined many a dog by making them show dogs. She’s a useless ornament who wont even walk to the show ring. 🤢 in no way is she best in show
Each of these dogs need a whole anime, cant tell me that gandalf of a shih tzu isnt a inter-dimensional floof mop that cleans tiny planets with cuteness
I hoped for the poodle and when she won I began to cry with her handler. What an amazing end to a lifetime for caring for dogs and loving them so! Congratulations!!!!!!! Beautiful!!!!!
All the dogs and owners did an amazing job ! Congratulations to the runners up and a special and heartfelt congratulations to Sage and Mr Hosaka! Last Show what a way to go out! Don’t get no better then that!!❤
I've shown dogs; even if it was just in 4-H. Both obedience and conformation. And I will say without a doubt that the dog(s) who win WANT to win. They become very competitive being on the show circuit. And they often compete against a lot of the same dogs. Friendships between dogs develop; also rivalries. It's a marvelous world to be in. I miss it! Some of them actually get snobbish, over proud of their own success. Never doubt they enjoy competing. If they didn't; they wouldn't be winners! And these dogs are LOVED!
Yes they do enjoy th attention, are crate trained frm puppy hood, I showed Australian terriers, & Irish Setters in 80s, was a fun world, course we're rivalries, between breeders of same breed, who's dog(s) were best, & critized behind their backs to others. I understand your sentiment but it all has to fall into place on the same day. If you watch how the miniature poodle showed, she was exceptional and she looks like perfection too. The poodle is fabulous and Kaz is a marvelous handler . Congratulations to him.
The German Shepherd was awesome - the way she runs is a trot! All beautiful dogs!!
Only th Germ Shep has that " flying smooth effortless gait"
Her Handlers won Best In Show a few years ago with a German Shepherd that he owns. Beautiful Germans.
My two favourite breeds, the Shepherd and the Poodle. I have been a Poodle owner for years and they are the most wonderful dog!
