My dog has anxiety and nothing has brought her out of her shell more than agility. She’s terrified of people, but when we did agility class she’d prance up to the other people in the class after finishing a course. There is no other way to describe it other than she was PROUD of herself and agility made her so confident and happy she forgot to be afraid. There are probably people who mistreat their dogs in this sport… but the sport itself is not mistreatment. They love it.
There's just something about big dogs doing a course at their own pace. There's a video on TH-cam of a big Mastiff doing an agility course in Denver. He's just walking and occasionally trotting through the whole thing, can barely fit in the tunnel, and did the world's slowest weave poles complete with a reluctant correction like "Ma, you see how big I am? Dont make me back up. Fine, I love the applause." You can tell it takes a lot of effort for him to throw his weight over the jumps, but he was just happy to do what made his handler happy. Just saw that there's another video of a Mastiff, Zeus, doing a course. Maybe even slower than the other one. He's so big he nearly toppled the A-Frame.
That's why i love these. Its not always about beating everyone else and pushing the dog as far as possible. Sometimes its enough that they do their best and have a good time
her handler looked to be enjoying it as well! love the verbal praise and how excited they both were after her win. THATS how you make a winning dog. I always tell people that if you don't look and sound like you're out of your mind when training/praising your dog, you're not doing it right 😂❤️
Id say bee has very efficient running technique, great form, smooth, and can leap long and low like a arrow, and she takes the shortest route it looks like , very focused energy. That little Lark is a burner also.
of course all of these dogs are amazing and the athleticism is so impressive…however nothing makes me happier than a big dog taking a slow stroll through the weave poles
Lark only slowed down a second or two when the seesaw lowed down late just bc Lark was too light for it 🥲 Other than that Lark must have been the fastest... Best pooch indeed
I love how Bee went through the slalom/multiple poles thing : she's not a dog, she's a snake. And the way she jumps in her owner's arms made my heart melt.

I know Lark loses time waiting for the thing to lower, but I actually found her control there her highlight. it’s hard to pump the breaks so suddenly when you’re excited and almost flying like that, but she did it so nicely. loved her a lot, but they were all amazing
I'm pretty sure they get more points for waiting for the seesaw. I could be wrong but it seemed like they all wanted to and they were applauded for it by the judges.
kaboom's weave pole performance was amazing, I had to rewatch that two times. I love the speedline performance that Lark puts out. Elvira's chill and easy-going manner put a smile on my face and I loved Bee's joyous excitement. Fun video and I'm looking forward to seeing this years show following the Macy's 96th annual Thanksgiving Day parade.
I love all dogs, they looked like they were having so much fun! But my fave was Bee, she was so cute and fast, at 12:54 you can see how calm she can also be, such elegance.
I seen someone comment about how "Cruel" it is to force a dog, and train them to do this LOL. Like man, what do Dogs have to look forward to in their lifespan? Going on walks? Treats? Sleeping? I guarantee these dogs love every second of this.
I watched the agility on Sunday, and I cried when the old dogs ran, especially the Labrador Retriever, Deacon Blues. Labs are my favorite dogs, I've never had a full blooded lab but I have had 5 lab mixes. The dog that came closest to being a full blooded lab was my dog Buddha, a Yellow Lab Golden Retriever mix. But those old dogs on Sunday showed everyone 'Hey if young dogs can do this we can too.

This made me think of my mom who passed away 14 years ago. She absolutely loved to take her mixed lab on those courses. She was almost every time in last place. But she loved her dog Douschka so much she did not even bother. She cuddled the dog more than the winner. After my mom passed away Douschka didn't want to do it anymore. My dad tried but she was griefing too much. It also made me think of my dog at puppy training. My pup wasn't allowed anymore because she was a natural leader and took all the other pups into tuggs of war and distracting them. At home my dog grew up to be the best and sweetest at everything with other dogs around. She was a labrador who was leading even leeuwenbergers. She took care of every other dog around. And imagine she was the smallest pup in the pack. She passed away 4 months ago. I really miss her.
These are such beautiful dogs and they are just trained so beautifully. But I think all of our hearts really lose it when we watch the one dog that's like there for a visit as it's going through this competition. You just can't help but smile and say yes if that was me I'd sit at the top of that plank and I slide down it. And you just have to laugh they're all such wonderful babies and we love them all...
That very first run was amazing! I love how her dog just fully leaped into her arms 🥹 that warmed my heart and she was saying good at every obstacle completed. I love seeing the dogs be happy and loved and rewarded they’re so good.
This video put made me smile throughout. Jennifer Crank is simply a master dog trainer and handler. She knows how to get the most out of her dogs, and the results over the years are clear. You can see her previous efforts on youtube. Well done Jennifer.
I love watching American agility, it’s so different compared to the UK in terms of equipment, heights and style of course! Would be interesting to see them up against European dogs and handlers more often 😊
@@darkgenesis342 Well we have fewer heights which means you don’t tend to see large and sometimes slower breeds compete at finals (here it is often dominated by border collies) and tiny breeds sometimes struggle at the smallest height we have of 30cm set by the Kennel Club. It’s nice to see lots of breeds competing at the top level in this video. Equipment like the tyre is a different style as we have breakaway tyres which split open if the dog knocks it and we’ve started introducing soft walls too. No 13 on this this course is novel as we don’t have high jumps like those! Not sure if the dog walk is the same height as standard in Europe either actually. European courses are more technical than the UK courses and so these US courses look quite fun and flowing to run with fewer traps. Not to say it’s any easier but just different! Our finals at Crufts are also longer courses but that’s probably just the case it’s a smaller space at Westminster 😅
Im not an expert or a dog trainer, but I think where the smaller dogs lose time is in the teeter because they don’t weight as much so they have to do wait a few milliseconds.
I really liked the Bracco Italiano race💖. Greetings from Siberia, I am watching your broadcasts and videos on agility competitions. I also practiced agility, from 2004 to 2017. I had a cross between a Welsh terrier, a poodle and a border collie. Now there is only a border collie, she is 12 years old..💖
Bee was lightning, but Lark adorable. If Lark wasn't so light, they probably would have shaved time waiting on that teeter totter. But what can you do when you 're that small. Great run by both of them.
People saying they never knew small dogs could move so fast must have never met a papillon before. My family has one and although she doesn’t really play and hardly runs around, she’s still VERY agile and can leap way farther than you’d expect and prance around the house like a lightning bolt if she wants. They’re such sweet dogs and they are indeed like furry little bullets
I tripped over the Agility competitions at both Crufts and WKC about 4 years ago, and got thoroughly hooked. Love these competitions and love that the dogs seem to love them.
