iRacing fails when the tire grips up after pushing too much; it doesn't have that grab-stretch-pull feeling that rubber does. It's hard to feel when you have traction back. I haven't driven a GT4, but I've been on track in a variety of rubber and they all have a similar 'grip up' sensation. The only time I haven't had that in rl is on a track in the desert, the track had fine dirt/sand particles all over it. That's what iRacing feels like, although I'd say their lighter cars tires are getting better.

Great video! Would love to see the video concept revisited with the input overlay copied on each other (if it were possible replicate the car telemetry to iRacing's version or vice versa.)
Love all your video coming from the perspective of real race driver comparing to iRacing. Because we can hear people saying this or that is not real and stuff. But coming from yours, it make a hell lots of difference because not many people have access to real world race car. Not sure if its possible, but will love to see you do up a video on your thoughts of the FFB on sim wheel vs your real car. I know some additional feeling is needed to projected from the wheel because we dont have geforce like in the real car. But your thoughts on example at certain corner where there's a kick on the sim wheel, do you actually get those in your real car?
What do I think? I have been gaming / using computer since the "Timex Sinclair" in 1980ish. I used to play hours of "Pit Stop" on my Commodore 64. I am 55 years old. I am blown away that we live in a time that you can actually practice for real racing on a computer. The really car seemed to bump around more but otherwise WOW! Great video!
IRacing is super impressive as far as realism goes! I think there no other sim the close close too IRacing yeah the graphics aren’t pretty but we’re not here to look at an oil painting where here to DRIVE! Banging content as always dan I enjoyed this one 👊🏻👌🏼
Thanks a lot. I totally agree. It’s not a game breaker for me in terms of the graphics. It’s the best driving simulator available at the moment with some pretty significant improvements in the very near future by the sounds and looks of it.
That's sick! I love iRacing and I think I will never get closer to real racing than Simracing. Your video really shows how close iRacing and RL is. Only thing I would improve is, that iRacing could look a bit "dirtier". The car interiour always looks like the car just got off the factory :D
I thought it looked extremely close and I did notice you were working the wheel a bit more IRL. I'm always curious about brakes and as you mentioned they're 1:1, but is the brake bias / balance (front to rear) the same? I always enjoy your videos and input about iRacing and try to watch your real races on TH-cam. I'm happy to see a fellow Canadian representing with such talent and class! 😊
Hi Daniel, Thanks for the video. Some people here would definitely be interested in knowing your FFB settings. You’re using a Simucube, as far as I know. Do you still have the Nm value set the same way as in your iRacing video? That was around 50Nm in iRacing and 100% FFB in the Simucube settings. I’m curious if you change these settings in iRacing for GT4 and GT3, or if you keep them the same. Thanks 🙏🏼
Interesting video. I enjoy iRacing and the braking does feel realistic. There are two elephants in the room: the tyre model when you go beyond the grip level; and the car contact physics. Both need work and plenty of pro race drivers have commented on them. Perhaps you do a video on them too? I drive the AMG Gt4 a lot in iRacing it’s always enjoyable.
Fantastic comparison! I wish you could have overlayed your throttle and brake inputs on the screen in a corner.. maybe next time? Great stuff, thnx again!
Great video! I know iRacing are going to do a major graphics uograde some point soon but one thing I've never understood why they haven't akeeady corrected is the interior trim; looks decidedly grey rather than black.
Love these iRacing vs. Reality comparisons and especially the videos were you've let iRacers who aren't racecar drivers, drive your actual racecar. Do you feel that the steering/FFB in iRacing in general is lacking? I'd agree it feels a bit numb in most cars (except maybe the open wheel stuff). I've messed with setting for years and I don't feel like it's quite good enough. I also run ACC occasionally and I find that you really feel the wheel load up under braking and during cornering and it feels pretty realistic to me and additionally helps you feel a bit of the weight transfer of the car for those of us without full motion rigs.
I don’t find that the FFB is lacking. I think it’s actually one of the best FFB’s. I find that too. Many Sim races are obsessed with every single vibration and detail because there is a lack of feeling from the G Force. If you were looking for really good and accurate feedback in the wheel, I find that iRacing does a really good job of that. Obviously, you can tune anything you want with software, especially with Simucube. It’s such a moving target because everybody has different equipment so nobody’s gonna be happy and what feels good for me. May not feel good for you. I’m looking forward to seeing what iRacing does with the new contact patch model because I think that that could really help improve the way the car feels on the tires
Noticed your hands were busier IRL. Had attributed that to iRacing feeling comparatively numb (with the lack of G forces and vibrations). Also noticed the gear changes were slightly different, but had attributed that to one of the cars getting a better exit from the previous corner (rather than different ratios)
The ratios are definitely a slight bit different. I know that based on how I run the gearing in real life versus how I have to drive it on the simulator. Definitely a little bit busier with my hands in real life with some micro corrections. It doesn’t mean that it’s sliding and losing grip or slowing down, but it definitely feels more alive in real life
Hello Daniel! Can you tell us what your brake pedal force is? I understand that you have the top ones with feedback, but maybe there is some information on how many kilograms of force in real life? Whether you answer or not, anyway, thank you very much for the video, your videos are always a pleasure to watch! Good luck on the real track!
Lucky for you, that’s a video that is on the list to be shot. Going to make a full series of getting your rig dialled in with more in depth focus on each area of the body.
Something ive noticed about idk 50% of real drivers is they almost limit themselves in a sim. They do realistic laptimes but many times sim times are a good bit faster with the best som racers. then you have people like max and others lol. But your real beake shows this whole brick wall bullcrap in sim setups is so false. Like yes f1 brakes but there is a reason thise are so stiff and hard. The g forces! And the insane speeds. Why tf would i wsnt that in my sim rig? Gt4 or gt3 brakes should be it and tbh even that most makers have wrong. Still to stiff. You can clearly see the travel his real brake has. Which is why simicubes active pedal is so good and pedals like the p1000 and p2000
Hi Daniel, pefrect video! I have two question, what sould be setted on 27Nm Invicta (full 27 Nm in Racehub) as strenght or max force to get real feeling from Mercedes GT4? Is your profile for Simucube AP realy sits for the car, I mean so long and soft? Thanks!
Looks pretty close! I'm actually impressed at the realism. As far as the gearing goes, is that fixed on the IRL car like it is in the sim? Strange that iRacing can be so realistic in a lot of places but something as simple as the gear ratio is out of whack.
It’s extremely close. It’s only second gear, third gear and fourth gear that are a little too short. You can really see it if you watch the video and pay attention to the number on the dash and the sound of the audio. It’s only a small difference but it actually Can make a difference at tracks like Sebring where you hold second gear 3, 4 and 5
Was super excited to drive this car after switching from ACC, and boy... I am SLOW. Current rating is 2k, but I am so much closer to the pace in every other class of car. I don't know why 🤷♂️ guess I suck! Excited to learn though
Isn't there an EVO version of this car? Could that be the gearing difference or were the updates more significant? Either way, always happy every time you bring up that the car i'm best at in sim is one of the most accurate ones!
I hope iRacing will work on that numb feeling. That's for me the only piece missing and which imo is a quiet huge one. You simply can't hustle the car it will just hurt you. It's not fun, gets quiet boring over time
It looks like there is quite noticeable difference in the level of flatness of the road surface and curbs. The simulator has it's strength but for me one of the big disadvantages was this when I tried it in the beginning of the year. The world is just too flat in iracing comparing to real world as it seems. Honestly it reminded me F1 games from 90th where the track was completely flat. I exaggerate of course, but there is such feeling.
Daniel. Very cool video!! I have to agree the brakes make it or break it in sim games. For my personal experience with real cars. I drove the Porsche GT3 RS and Ferrari GTB. Braking and especially trail breaking I have a different feeling compared with sim games. Also the weight or G’s. However the sim does have pretty good accuracy and helps to prepare. As for car gearing, yeah that expected for a simulator to not be dead on. Unless it’s a million dollar one from Mercedes manufacture. Overall frame rate on CPU’s need to be good. I notice lower frame rate can affect performance. But yeah very good video! Looking forward to see more like these!! 🎉 aka blkghost187
Is there a reason you essentially remade your video from about a year ago rather than comparing the GT3 car this time around? Would love to hear your thoughts on the GT3 car in iRacing since you have so much experience in the irl car as well.
I’ve done a video on the GT3 already. This is the second time I’ve done a video on the GT4. The first one was at Indianapolis and I find that this is one of the newer tracks on iRacing as well so it was a good opportunity to make another one. I found that it was interesting because of how similar they drove so I wanted to highlight that so that people that don’t have the opportunity to drive the car in real life can experience it in a realistic manner.
My only complaint about iracing is I wish the screen shook a bit more. I love iRacing, but AC and LMU feel a little more immersive with screen shake for those of us without motion rigs. Just personal opinion tho.
There’s a setting in the ini file that locks the camera to the chassis. I can’t remember what it’s called but that the way I have it setup. Plenty of screen shake.
In real life, every time you step on the throttle in the exit of the curves you make corrections, in iRacing you don't, also in the hard braking of min 2.52 you make corrections, it also seems that when you go over the kerbs you feel it in the steering wheel, at least the turning radius of the steering wheel is very similar...
I made a video on ACC in the past, but it was revolved around the GT3. To be honest, the GT4 in ACC is even further away from reality. It feels absolutely nothing like the real car.
Hey Daniel, great lap, cool video! Does Gt4 cars have power steering? And could you share your FFB setup on the game menu particularly for this car please? Thank you…
how do you compensate for iRacings wheel oscillation? when I dont push the wheel very hard I can feel the oscillating getting stronger per second, because of USB/information delay and the 60 Hz rate I suppose. But when I set sliders of my wheel to combat that behaviour everything feels less sharp.
Would you be willing to share your setup? I race AMG GT4's all the time and would love to know what it feels like using the setup as close as possible to real life
Hey man, love the content as always! Super cool stuff :) I have a quick question about your monitors and the angle of the arms. I have triple 32" 1000R monitors and to get the ROG bezel free kit to do it's job I have to have the monitor arms at some crazy acute angle like 70. Makes getting in and out a literal pain! It looks like yours are at a much more injury-friendly angle. Do you mind sharing your specs with me please?
but funny thing was i was abusing the car in the way youre not meant to do it like clipping over kerbs aggressively and braking too late with steering slightly turned and oversteer the car with lots of corrections 😂😂
I think that good modern simulation games, while not perfect, not by a long shot, are still good enough to be used as a training tool for drivers. The same parts of your brain and nervous system are used when driving a car in a simulator, or in real life. With real life you simply get more feedback, whereas in the virtual world, you have to use your imagination to fill in the gaps. You start using different cues to determine how a car behaves, in the virtual world, and these cues also exist in the real world, but they're damped by the increased feedback you get in reality. So in a way, a sim can help you become a better driver, because you learn specific skills that you're simply not able to learn in the real world due to how much overwhelming information exists in the real world. Whereas a simulation is a more limited environment, this lets you focus on those specific skills more easily since they're not drowned out in the noise of total reality.
@@danielmorad It's like a scientist using the laboratory to study. It's not exactly the real world, but you can still learn useful things. Because you can control variables in a way you can't in real life.
You may have already touched up on it in one of your previous videos, but how much steering force do you get in the real GT4 car and what's the torque setup on your wheelbase in the sim?
@@danielmorad Thank you. It's such a controversial topic. Nice to hear it from someone who knows. There are guys out there who will tell us that a GT4 car couldn't possibly produce more that 4 or 5Nm steering force, just because it has power steering,...and they will die on that hill.
You can definitely ramp that up when other cars are on the track. But I agree that it could be a little bit more dynamic in terms of how the rubber builds.
iRacing feels numb in general imo, midcorner grip is very hard to judge and I have very little confidence in getting back on the gas quickly. It doesn't help that the tire model is extremely punishing when pushing them over the limit, but then I've never driven a GT4. How accurate do you think the tire model is when overheated in iRacing compared to IRL?
@@GrilledPixeIs I don't think so, I use virtually bone stock settings with as little interpolation and dampening as I can get away with. It's very communicative under high speed and high grip corner entry/exit and I don't experience it with TCRs. I feel like it's specific to slower RWD cars and tire models
The FOV looked slightly more narrow compared to IRL I thought, but that might just be me? It's hard to judge... I'm sure you used to tools to dial that in.. I just thought the foreground looked slightly closer and the track a little wider compared to the sim.
@@danielmoradCan the field of view not be adjusted in-game? I don’t play Iracing so I don’t know if things can be adjusted from that cam during in-game replays? I was meaning that if you pause the game throughout the vid, objects in the distance look smaller and further away in the top IRL cam than they do in the bottom cam. It’s maybe a wider FOV I meant, not narrower. But yeah wider track on IRL cam. The car inputs are surprisingly close!! I’d love to drive Iracing to see how the the braking feel differs from other titles, but I just think it’s too much of a pricey business model. I’m so curious though.. 🤔🙄😂
It is a little bit more lively over the curbs and also in the high-speed sections. Also has a little bit more feeling on the front axle in the low speed.
@@danielmorad I've never driven a race car in real life, but I would imagine it would be. As far as sim racing has come I don't think it could ever simulate real life 100%.
Seems to be more wheel work in real life. Must be reacting to every little movement the car makes. I'm guessing your reacting to the forces and not just the visuals.
Can you please make a video explaining your driving style? May be you're very gentle on the brakes? A lot of real life racers don't like iRacing's tire model, I also don't like it, but others like you find it great. There must be a reason why some like it, while others hate it. I'm very aggressive on the brakes, last of the late brakers(Hamilton fan here), I modulate them just on the brink of locking, so iRacing for me is quite terrible. Others probably seek to optimize the car balance for the cornering phase, going for a "flat car"... I have the car rotating by sliding just before the apex & then blast out from the corner, very much a V shape driving style. I can not judge your style w/o guessing, so may be in a future video you can explain your preferences & strong points compared to others? Also, how do you find single seaters in iRacing? I know it's been long time ago since you last raced in them, but still interesting to hear your thoughts. 10x for all your content & what you do for sim racing!
Thanks so much. I have a video explaining how to manipulate the car the way you want and get the best balance out of it. I also have some videos explaining how to brake. I don’t really know how to describe my style of driving. I would say fast is my style, but everybody is also fast.
@@danielmorad Yeah, I've watched them all, but somehow when I want to push... it's in me, I smash the brake at the very last moment. If you can't describe your style, then write down what you hate & whatever is left is your style haha :) Verstappen also can't describe his style, he can only go on length about the damaging slow understeer! Alonso is somehow the opposite, & both are crazy fast in any car. Cheers

It's very impressive!
Thanks
Yes, Spa in the rain... ...would be so in point.
Great video! Looked like the real car steering was more lively than the SIM, probably expected though.
It’s a little bit more on the edge in real life because you have these micro corrections that you are making
Impressive how you got those laptimes (almost) exactly right!
It’s just super intuitive and natural to get the lap time
@@danielmorad You know what i would like to see of both those laps? The telemetry comparison. Would be interesting as hell :)
For me, iRacing combined with VR and a motion system, is the most realistic simulation. Nothing else comes close.
Barry and Money Truck with the Moradness Cinematic Universe cameo!
We had to toss them in there
That's sick! I love iRacing and I think I will never get closer to real racing than Simracing. Your video really shows how close iRacing and RL is. Only thing I would improve is, that iRacing could look a bit "dirtier". The car interiour always looks like the car just got off the factory :D
That could be a feature where you add weathering lol
I thought it looked extremely close and I did notice you were working the wheel a bit more IRL. I'm always curious about brakes and as you mentioned they're 1:1, but is the brake bias / balance (front to rear) the same? I always enjoy your videos and input about iRacing and try to watch your real races on TH-cam. I'm happy to see a fellow Canadian representing with such talent and class! 😊
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the video.
I 100% agree with you on that.
Fantastic comparison! I wish you could have overlayed your throttle and brake inputs on the screen in a corner.. maybe next time? Great stuff, thnx again!
Good idea! That will be for next time for sure.
Great video 👏
Thanks a lot!
even though it's similiar i would be terrified IRL cuz those cars cost SO much money
Great video!
I know iRacing are going to do a major graphics uograde some point soon but one thing I've never understood why they haven't akeeady corrected is the interior trim; looks decidedly grey rather than black.
I think there are certain limitations. I’m sure there’s going to be an overhaul very soon.
Great video Morad! Would be cool aswell to see a comparison between iracing's amg gt3 and the one from real life!
Unfortunately, it will not be as close as this at the moment. Hopefully in the very near future, the GT3 cars improve.
@@danielmorad Lets hope they improve :)
I know iRacing is working on their audio. I CANNOT WAIT until it sounds like that splitscreen lap sounds.
Yeah that sounds good! It’s just a bit more bass
can we get more of real life pedal cam videos from you?
@@danielmorad thanks for replying Daniel. Love getting your take on it!
It doesn’t mean that it’s sliding and losing grip or slowing down, but it definitely feels more alive in real life
I note the helmet colors match . Great meeting you at Nring this year and chatting .Hope to see you in Asia, will you be part of Macau this year ?
watched the comparison video from a year ago like yesterday lmao
Yeah that was at Indianapolis. Another great track and freshly scanned.
It would be interesting to see your lap time without the active pedals. Enjoy your videos and streams thanks!
yes it would be cool if you made a video. Putting on VR and then comparing it with reality. It would be interesting to listen to you!
Thanks for the idea!
Iracing gt4s are such a joy to lap
It’s so much fun on the Sim. It’s one of the best categories in my opinion.
Daniel any chance you can do an in depth look at your pedal positions and settings? I’m a huge fan of your Simucube profiles already.
Lucky for you, that’s a video that is on the list to be shot. Going to make a full series of getting your rig dialled in with more in depth focus on each area of the body.
@@danielmorad gods work.
It’s only a small difference but it actually Can make a difference at tracks like Sebring where you hold second gear 3, 4 and 5
You cannot change the gearing in either the real life car or on the end. It’s a fixed ratio.
There’s no EVO version of the GT4
it looked like the real car and track to me
They look so close, right?
You’re 100% right.
@@danielmorad ah crap, missed that one but just found it. Thanks 🤙🏻
Figured they'd be close considering how well you've spoken of it before.
Heading to my first IMSA race at VIR this weekend! You'll be racing, right?
That’s awesome. See you there. Don’t be afraid to ask any of the guys for my team to grab me. Looking forward to meeting you this weekend.
It's my favourite GT4 car.
Same. So good
awesome video keep sharing
My only complaint about iracing is I wish the screen shook a bit more. I love iRacing, but AC and LMU feel a little more immersive with screen shake for those of us without motion rigs. Just personal opinion tho.
There’s a setting in the ini file that locks the camera to the chassis. I can’t remember what it’s called but that the way I have it setup. Plenty of screen shake.
@@SuperslowRacing Ill check it out, thank you!
I'd like to see a comparison to acc as I don't bother with Iracing anymore due to time constraints and only race with a League on Friday nights
Maybe you should check out my video on realistic force feedback. I walk through settings to get rid of that.
Have you updated your monitors yet? only thing keeping your rig from perfection
Surprisingly, I haven’t done that yet. Waiting for the right partner to come along to do a really cool project with them.
If the road surface on iracing looked real it would be hard to pick them apart
Absolutely! They’re so close in the way they drive
You turn much sharper IRL
Definitely turn in a little bit quicker as it feels more connected
Would you be willing to share your setup? I race AMG GT4's all the time and would love to know what it feels like using the setup as close as possible to real life
Hey man, love the content as always! Super cool stuff :) I have a quick question about your monitors and the angle of the arms. I have triple 32" 1000R monitors and to get the ROG bezel free kit to do it's job I have to have the monitor arms at some crazy acute angle like 70. Makes getting in and out a literal pain! It looks like yours are at a much more injury-friendly angle. Do you mind sharing your specs with me please?
Thanks a lot. Mine are 1800 R and I have it at a 62° angle based on the backside of the monitors.
i drove the gt4 around fuji and got 1.47.6 easily
i feel like i can improve to high 46 if i had continued
but funny thing was i was abusing the car in the way youre not meant to do it like clipping over kerbs aggressively and braking too late with steering slightly turned and oversteer the car with lots of corrections 😂😂
still waiting for that Rfactor 2 video!
I know you are. It’s almost been a year, but who’s counting time?
You are absolutely right. No Sim is perfect, but this is very good. Especially for what I’m using it for and the car I’m racing.
I use around 12 N metres of force
@@danielmorad Thank you. It's such a controversial topic. Nice to hear it from someone who knows. There are guys out there who will tell us that a GT4 car couldn't possibly produce more that 4 or 5Nm steering force, just because it has power steering,...and they will die on that hill.
Real life = unlimited FPS
iRacing = how powerful is your pc = Average FPS
Real life fps is: yes
looks like iracing could put some more rubber on the track especially in the corners and heavy braking areas
Could be your settings? Once u get them worked out it's the best in terms of knowing grip imo
I don’t understand how FOV could be different lol. You mean from the GoPro camera?
Looks like the car is more reactive to the curbs in real life.
GT4 is my favourite class in iracing, it feels the most natural to drive. GT3 feels too disconnected to me.
I agree with you on that. That’s why I don’t drive GT3 atm
BEST THUMBNAIL PIC EVER! 😜
Hahaha!!!! You da man lol
What’s Bryce irating?
Cool❤
Thanks
what is your FFB in Iracing fot this car
I have a profile on simucube. You can get it there
Seems to be more wheel work in real life. Must be reacting to every little movement the car makes. I'm guessing your reacting to the forces and not just the visuals.
Looks like more steering imput irl but thats probably due to track degragation and the smaler bumps and all.
Working the wheel a bit more. Micro movements in the wheel
Is the steering numb because of your simucube filter settings? I found your profile to be too muted for my personal tastes.
It’s not numb because of the filter. It’s just the way the car drives on the front axle. It’s a subtle difference.
Cheers
