The fact that you are even interested in giving an opportunity to sim racers to experience the real thing is commendable in itself. This is a grey area that isn't being shown enough, so it is truly interesting to hear their input on things like their own sim setups, and other nuances that are harder to replicate in sim. Nonetheless its an experience in of itself and I'm sure a memory will cherish. I truly hope you continue to do things like this and bridge the gap between sim and reality just a bit more. Thank you for this video!
Motorsports in general is the most inaccessible sport there is. You really need to be born into it or have parents that are of above average means and absolutely dedicated to getting you in at a young age despite the risks. We can only guess how much talent is out there. The major manufacturers are doing NOTHING to develop sim racers or give opportunities. It’s just a circle jerk for rich people.
It's something I don't like as well. Although I haven't sim-raced in years, some of the streamers have this exact approach. All the fancy equipment and adjustable gears and pistons, but at the end of the day, they're not sim-racing. Their adjustments may work for them, but it doesn't simulate the car or the experience at all. I think an Emree or Jimmy, with their actual racing experience, will have a better setup. But some have 15k-20k setups that is nowhere near an actual car. Especially when they go after "sim-cade" or "arcade" games, it's like ... isn't your setup more arcade as well? :)
Yup only time I've ever had hard brakes when you brake on ice brake pedals are always squishy and even on my SIM rig my brake pedal is always easy to plant to the floor as a driver it just feels more right
I love how you got a range of iRating drivers. Anyone who watches will be able to associate with one of those drivers' iRating. What an amazing experience you've given these racers! Look forward to a long video of this one
I was particularly interested in the fact that they mention seeing the other side of the car for the first time. I race exclusively in VR and love the visibility it gives.@@danielmorad
I'd totally watch a longer version of this. Full laps or at least some driving of the guys. Since I found your channel I absolutely love it. Keep up the great work.
I'm not a sim race pro. But I have been sim racing for quite some time now. And yesterday I went to the Extreme Experience drive. Drove a Porsche GT3 RS. And they are worlds apart. I was blown away at the grip. And the sensation of speed. I will say that throttle control, braking, trail braking and smooth steering inputs still does apply. But the forces involved are far greater than you expect.
Huge props to Morad and Winward racing for making this happen! Daniel, your advocacy for sim racing is truly making a difference, and I hope it evolves into more than just giving some sim racers an experience of a lifetime. As someone who went from sim racing into IRL racing, I can 100% say it is a valid route into motorsports, and rookies with sim racing experience will outperform other rookies easily. How far they can go is then the same as with a normal motorsports progression (track time, sponsorship etc. play a role). But just giving them a start and allowing some talent from non-traditional background to shine is a huge achievement.
Would like add the info your sharing with all the sim racing community is probably the most wanted information desired by many of us in the sim world. It's an area thats never really been focused on before in this way. I'm sure many sim racers out there can agree and I know for me I'm always looking for ways to adjust my sim rig to what I think the actual race car would feel like. So all your info on wheel strength and braking details from your perspective in the actual car is priceless! Can't thank you enough for time your putting in for this channel! I even got my 73 year old father invloved in sim racing about two years ago.and he's now upgraded to full triple screen setup, direct drive wheel and aluminum profile rig. And like me he is always looking to improve the sim experience and he tells me that your channel has helped a lot in capturing that emersion of simulating the real car. So thank you for the awesome videos and I hope you continue to find the time to put more content out there for all us race enthusiasts !!
Fantastic ! It’s such a blessing to make that bridge and offer some people this incredible experience. It makes the virtual racing much more real ! Congrats on what your doing on top of racing (now 1st position of your category and 16h22 to go at Daytona !) just so you know : it means a lot all the dedication you’re putting into this !
Wow, this video is mind blowing. First of all those cars look insane. And the video editing, wow, that transition from reality to your triple screen setup... Finally, your willingness to hoist more of this event tells everything about your channel and the added value you mean for the simracing community
This might be the most unbelievable video I've ever seen on Sim Racing. I mean that in a good way, as in it's crazy someone actually did this. Kudos to you and your whole team. Just amazing.
This is awesome to see people get a chance to experience driving a real racing car. That is my dream too. Just once before I die I want to get to drive a real racing car.
you should do another one of these where you compare the drivers irl lap time with their irating! to see if there's any correlation between iracing skill and lap times. obviously not going to be very scientific/conclusive but would be fun to see!!
I thought the same. Would be interesting to see if for example someone with say 2k IR was faster than someone with 5k IR. Someone with lower rating might have a better technique that work for RL but struggles in sim vs the 5K person.
Yes! I bet that it‘s random over 4000 irating, because 8 laps is too short to handle all this new inputs at once and apply your knowlege. They also don‘t get any feedback while racing of how fast they were I think. some will be more afraid of causing any type of damage as well, no matter how high the iRating. At this challenge it‘s all about having the one time experience and adapt as fast as you can to it without any bad mistake! It‘s nothing high iRating racers would train for.
Man you guys are awesome! I've always wanted to do a program that would essentially build a racing team off sim racers, they would compete for a seat in game to make the dream a reality. I wish WEC and F1 would do stuff like this. You guys are leading the way in something that could become a trend. Well done!
I’ve always wanted to see the same thing. I wanted to take ordinary Sim racers, and just put them in a race car. Just to see if they could go better than a regular person. It clearly shows that the simulator is a great preparation tool. Maybe it won’t translate exactly but it definitely helps. It’s one thing to drive a car and another thing to be elite.
Would love to see a longer version of this. Longer interviews with all the racers and to see if their irating corresponded to faster laps or faster progression. Their thoughts compared to the sim. Great content!
Exactly. It’s something that’s so unique. Nobody ever gives regular drivers a chance to drive. That’s the unique beauty of our team. We don’t just take people that are fast. We’re taking people for their character and positivity. It pays to be a good person Haters on the outside are going to hate, but at the end of the day they will never get this opportunity because of how bad their character is. I’m always open for people to change, but we are very blessed with the group that we have.
It's so cool that you did this! The smiles on everyone's faces !!! I've tracked my car at MSRH and do a lot of sim racing on ACC, if you do something like this ever again, where do I sign up? :P
Yes! Longer version please. Maybe also use a racing track that is available on Iracing next time? (Or is this track available on Iracing?) So we can even relate more to the actual experience. Thanks for this video. Great to see the happy smiling faces of the lucky ones.
Totally amazing that you helped these guys get a feel of the real thing - this is what most of us simracers dream about - I myself stick to karting as that's what the budget allows 😅 epic video man - LOVE to see this kind of content. 🏎️
Longer version, please... more feedback from the simracers and how it translates into driving the real thing would be wonderful, Dan. This short version is a nice appetizer but... you know. Having said that, it's a brutal experience for sure... some of the participants were like a kid in a candy store.
Asking you shall receive. This is definitely the appetizer. Wanted to tease this and see what the interest and appetite was for future content. It seems like there’s a massive trend between longer version of this video and a better understanding of how the car feels compared to the sim
Really cool idea Daniel! You've become one of my favorite sim racing channels. I decided to give iRacing a try after several years of ACC and RF2 after seeing your videos and man, it really is worth the money. Keep it up and good luck in your future races!
I mean the question to if a Sim racer can translate sim skill to real world has been answered a good few years ago I mean look at Jimmy Broadbent for example. Still this is awesome and love that you gave the opportunity to do this!
At the end of the day, it was just an opportunity for these guys to drive the real car. The title of the story or video is irrelevant. I wanted to give it a good twist, and ultimately, it is a good question to ask if they can drive the car properly. The next video will showcase Sim, racing drivers from different skill levels and showing how they drive
Amazing video, Daniel. Thank you for doing this for your community and giving this type of opportunity. Also, massive thanks to Winward Racing in TRUSTING YOU LUL bring in us keyboard warriors to drive Mr. Wards cars.
Finally had a minute to watch this, i must say that i am jealous! So awesome that you, Bryce, and Winward were able to do this for sim racers! Id say this would be the experience of a lifetime!
Just brilliant content. Nothing but admiration for what you’re doing. I’d dream of being in your next one, but my health wouldn’t let me so the sim will have to suffice. Still nice to see other people living my dream though, so thanks for sharing it. You’re next to GPLaps as my #1, cannot miss it, sim racing content. Just brilliant.
So awesome to see someone giving sim racers this opportunity. Brake travel hmmm is there a way to measure this while you are racing Daniel ? that would be really cool if you could to replicate the exact amount. I'm on Iracing, I mainly drive the Supercar series, you should give them a go if you're after a different challenge
This is so sick Danny! You don’t see to many pro drivers streaming on twitch, racing in Imsa & GT America , and put on an event for fans that are sim racers to experience their dream!
Thank you so much. It was a dream. Come true for me as well to be able to give these guys the opportunity to drive. A massive thanks to Winward Racing for giving these guys the opportunity.
@@danielmorad Oh absolutely 💯 Windward Racing FTW bby!!! I’m so happy for the team all around for you Dan , because it must feel refreshing to work with a team that not only try their hardest but just seem like the most funnest, warm welcoming, striving motivating individuals to achieve such victories!
Great video, id agree with that statement at the end about equipment being dialled in. Unless you have any major racing experience, which most of us don’t we are kind of guessing what are the best settings for our wheels and pedals.
Definitely. It was such a cool experience for them to be able to compare what they use to what the real car feels like. They’ve all told me that they’ve made changes and have actually gained comfort and speed on the simulator. There’s going to be more on this topic.
Kudos to Morad for putting out a rad video and taking all the comments from asshats in stride. No one out-sasses Daniel. 😄 The people want moooore even if they don't express it well lol. "Suffering from success."
A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL OF RESPECT FOR YOU BRO !! Thanks for making this happen for these guys finally someone feels our pain .. Just please pick me for the next trip would love the opportunity to tryout for the Team !!
Thank you so much. It was an incredible opportunity and I’m so happy to be able to give these guys the opportunity of a lifetime and make their dreams come true.
I was one of the fortunate ones who was able to participate and I immediately went home and ordered an active pedal. I’ve had every kind of pedal in the past (including hydraulic) and the active pedal is the only one I have used that has that similar feel to the race car
Super cool experience for everyone! You should include the driver’s rating and their pb for the day. That’ll help add more perspective to the experience and how it translates into real track pace. May I ask what your benchmark pace is? Thank you!
Great idea. We didn’t get a video on every single driver but we believe based on the visuals, closest was around 5.5 seconds off. I did a 1.37.2 and best recorded video was 1.43.7. They only had 4 laps of driving on their own and 3 laps behind me in a lead and follow run.
@@danielmorad a 43 after just a few laps is really really good! That is awesome to see. (I’m a member at MSRH, though I race motorcycles and *just* got a sim racing rig to train during the offseason/colder months) Also a 37.2 is cooking! My pb on my race bike is 40.1.
One interesting thing you could have done. Is footage of their actual rigs along with adjustments made to better replicate the real thing. I def agree that most run far lower FFB than reality in a quest for easier lap times.
Loved this, good job putting everything together. what program did they join to do this? I play iracing a lot with my fanatec setup and i might be moving to houston so id love to do this. I usually have my FFB on like 13-18nm so im curious how it compares haha
I can’t wait to break it down even more. We are going to talk about the laps and watch each video to break down their driving. Also thinking about showcasing what they thought about the positioning and ergonomics of the race car and how everything felt in relation to the simulators at home and show references.
Yikes! What a dream come true this must have been to the guys although they all looked chilled. What an an amazing and generous thing you and your team did Daniel 👏🏾👏🏾👊🏾👊🏾
We are going to make a longer version for sure. This was a high paste and high energy version. Glad to see so many people interested in a longer version. It will come.
Super ironic the timing of this video as I've been eyeballing MSR Houston for the NB2 full comp program and poking around for the best representation of it in AC. Double ironic that the AMG GT3/GT4's are some of my favorite in iRacing ( Which I'll finally have time for again :D )
Daniel, as Simucube 2 Pro user - can you share your settings for GT3 cars IRacing? So, we can be closer to the real GT3 force feedback for those who can't drive a GT3 car etc. ?

@@buzzbuzzard3809unfortunately very true, but at least driving on track in a street car (or a prepped street car) is fairly realistic.
I am SO glad that someone has finally addressed the "racecars have hard brakes" myth! I hate how hard load cell sim brakes are being made.
Exactly. They are not hard at all. You can push it quite hard near the end of the pedal, but it ultimately is pretty squishy for the most part.

Kudos to Morad for putting out a rad video and taking all the comments from asshats in stride. No one out-sasses Daniel. 😄 The people want moooore even if they don't express it well lol. "Suffering from success."
Thanks so much! That’s a great comment. Really appreciate you.
Awesome! Would love to see this as a video series.
We are going to make a longer version of the video. We wanted to make a short one that was high energy and also a longer video with more information.
@@danielmorad Stoked for it! Thank you 🙏
8:34 that transition though... 😍
What an experience these guys got. Super jealous! (If you need an Irish guy for this next time, I'm there!)
The transition is insane. I’ve always wanted to do something like that, so I shared my thoughts and we were able to pull it off.
Regarding the brake pedal discussion, what sim pedal do you feel best simulate how the break feels in your car?
I was one of the fortunate ones who was able to participate and I immediately went home and ordered an active pedal. I’ve had every kind of pedal in the past (including hydraulic) and the active pedal is the only one I have used that has that similar feel to the race car
@@davidhicks3710But that is still very expensive right? Do you have any recommendations for sub 500$?
(I’m a member at MSRH, though I race motorcycles and *just* got a sim racing rig to train during the offseason/colder months)
Also a 37.2 is cooking! My pb on my race bike is 40.1.
we need onboard footage and from inside the car, raw footage. nice video!
That’s coming soon
One interesting thing you could have done. Is footage of their actual rigs along with adjustments made to better replicate the real thing.
I def agree that most run far lower FFB than reality in a quest for easier lap times.
we need more and longer videos, amazing subject
We are already working on a longer one
What an incredible experience that must have been! Awesome content Dan 🔥🔥🔥
Really cool clip!
Thanks
Awesome video Daniel!🚀
Thanks a lot
Loved this, good job putting everything together. what program did they join to do this? I play iracing a lot with my fanatec setup and i might be moving to houston so id love to do this. I usually have my FFB on like 13-18nm so im curious how it compares haha
What an awesome experiment! DANIEL, my iracing rating is 0 however if you ever want an Aussie simracer! I'm here 😅
Great stuff!
Thanks a lot
Nice to see my old racing buddy Mitchell J on the video. He’s a great guy.
Mitchell crushed it as well. He was very comfortable behind the wheel.
What an incredible, fun opportunity - looking forward to the deeper dive into the laps!
I can’t wait to break it down even more. We are going to talk about the laps and watch each video to break down their driving. Also thinking about showcasing what they thought about the positioning and ergonomics of the race car and how everything felt in relation to the simulators at home and show references.
It's funny to see how he moves his hand like he knows what he's talking about.
Tell me about it. This guy knows absolutely nothing.
Did the iRatings correlate with lap times?
Good stuff! Really enjoyed that. I make small adjustments after almost every HPDE event to my RIG and FOV.
That’s awesome.
Yikes! What a dream come true this must have been to the guys although they all looked chilled. What an an amazing and generous thing you and your team did Daniel 👏🏾👏🏾👊🏾👊🏾
Damn that transition at 8:30 was clean!! ... What are the wheels on that AMG car?
Thanks. It’s an AMG wheel designed by the motorsport team.
This could be turned into a Netflix Show, e.g 10 sim racers all learn and do challenges to compete for a seat in a 1 off race or something
The story of Jann Mardenborpugh already proved sim racers are capable of driving GT cars
unbelievable production value mate
keep it up
Thank you so much. It’s an incredible opportunity that we were given and I’m so happy to have done this for the guys.
Great video. Way too short but like always, amazing content
We are going to make a longer version for sure. This was a high paste and high energy version. Glad to see so many people interested in a longer version. It will come.
Great editing in this video. Thanks for sharing the event.
Our pleasure. It was such a fun one to make.
You were in Houston at a track I know well (granted motorcycles :) ) and did not call me? Hurt ;) lol. Looks awesome
Haha I’ll call next time
What's the music from 5:15 ? i like the beat! \m/
This must be the coolest track day!
It was incredible.
Awesome video! Wish it was way longer!
We are going to make a longer version of this. We wanted to make a short and energetic version and then we will make a longer version as well.
Super ironic the timing of this video as I've been eyeballing MSR Houston for the NB2 full comp program and poking around for the best representation of it in AC. Double ironic that the AMG GT3/GT4's are some of my favorite in iRacing ( Which I'll finally have time for again :D )
Glad to see top split AND bottom split folks get the opportunity!
Absolutely. All get equal opportunities as long as you’re a good person
Love your videos! Keep up the great work
Thanks a lot man
Daniel, as Simucube 2 Pro user - can you share your settings for GT3 cars IRacing? So, we can be closer to the real GT3 force feedback for those who can't drive a GT3 car etc. ?
All of those settings are publicly available on the simucube software
Editing was on another level this video. Well done!
Thanks so much. We definitely put a lot of thought into this one. Ideas were flowing back-and-forth.
Give this machine to me and you will be surprised ;) Great idea Mate, thanks for doing it for sim racers. Massive respect! ❤❤❤
I’m sure we will all be surprised because we’ll start seeing a ballerina spinning down the track lol
