The fact that people actually care about racing clean and safety rating playing such a large role makes it worth it if you’re after that true racing experience where most people doesn’t treat it like a game where you can just hit respawn or leave and try again. Makes it penalizing but extremely rewarding

I’m sure as you climb the ranks that’s true, from what I’ve seen in rookies, you can get a mix of people who are still relatively new and make mistakes (myself included) and drivers who clearly know the track/car combo well.

@@heenix5803 I’d have to agree with this. I think it’s the most well rounded sim on the market. Don’t get me wrong, iracing has its share of issues, but its experience as a whole is the best as of now.

Iracing straight up teaches you fundamentals, it is designed to make you a better race car driver with RACECRAFT , It still has its drivers that really some just don't care, and spoil it for everyone sometimes, it's,just something we have to deal with , but those drivers , those drivers can make you better because seeing them be stupid gives you incentive to not follow the path of stupidity and be better

As a member for 13 years for me it is great value. You reach a point where you have many tracks/cars and you effectively race with very little additional outlay. It is difficult to get going but the value is there. In addition if you complete 8 races in a season you get $7 so that adds to $28 per year. Can be $10 pers season if you race 2 series. Timing this with special deals/multi year it s great value. I cannot count the hours I have in Iracing so the cost per hour is extremely low.

14 year member here, it seems expensive at first but in reality there is incredible value to the service and simulation. if you get into this seriously and end up with a 1K sim rig, a 1300 wheel and pedal set, 3 screens and a computer to actually run it, iracing is very much the cheap part of the big picture.

This is a fantastically detailed video and you covered every point that could be made. It definitely is costly..but for the ability to race 24/7 and at least have one full split(with some exceptions) even at the most awkward of times, it is worth it to me. I held out for a year or so fiddling with AC,RF2,AMS2, and a LOT of time in ACC. I caved about 9 months ago and haven't touched another sim since. Today I went from a IMSA muticlass race, to a super forula race, to a mx5, all with little downtime, and good racing all arond. There's a LOT to explore, and definitely can be costly. I've probably spend somewhere in the 5-600 range at this point, but I have almost every road course(especially for the disciplines I drive), and all of the cars I enjoy competing in.

I drove 3 seasons in the Formula Vee rookie series and the monthly fee was absolutely worth it. iRacing even keeps adding more free content along with the paid content so the value for a membership keeps getting better and better. I enjoy nearly all the driving simulations available; while the feeling of driving or the graphics may be subjective, objectively nothing beats iRacing's matchmaking system.

I started iRacing in season 3. I do debate the costs and haven't ventured outside the rookies. I'm currently evaluating a little longer. All other games mentioned in my opinion are better driving games, better graphics etc. What iRacing does alone is the competition. It's not just the scale, but also the user experience where you click on a series, select a race and sign up then join the server. It's that easy. I don't need a computer science degree to do it. Whether I keep at it I'm uncertain, but I'm still here for now

It would be good for us simracers if iRenting would get some competition.
Other massive online games costs roughly the same each month, but in Iracing you also have to pay for the tracks and cars. And single car/track costs almost the same as other racing games full DLCs.
There is no guarantee that the cars/tracks will be relevant further down the line. Would be better with just a subscription and no extra costs.

I think one plus point is that most D-class series use free content at least partially, so sticking to them means you can save a lot of money. Also, you get an update every 3 months, often a significant one. And every few up[dates you get a free car or track, which is also nice. Compared to something like ACC, which might get an update once a year if at all, this is a huge improvement (which you pay for, of course).

My issue is as a rookie joining into iRacing the cost of stuff on top of the subscription is a massive barrier. Furthermore we know vehicles are thrown into legacy at some point. So my money won't even keep me racing in an official series forever.
I wish they simply offered a more expensive membership that is all access. They've over complicated it imo. We know a person can only race X hours... So why limit people to a single series or two in costs.

The main and only iRacing aspect that beats Assetto Corsa is the iRating. Everything else in terms of feedback and server refresh rate and lack of detail on road/tires is seriously lacking. I dont think AC Evo will get ahead sadly. Both games are still fun tho. Especially as a rookie who only pays for monthly subscription.

Nice video. In my opinion, I’ve been doing sim racing for years and tried pretty much every sim and simcade in the last two years. I don’t think Iracing is worth it. I personally don’t care about the cost, and as others have said, they do a great job with the online ranked series. Lots of options and people to race against at every time of the day. That being said, every time I try to get back to Iracing, I end up uninstalling it before my membership is up. I always get excited when I see so many people signing up for races, but after I start driving, my excitement goes away very fast. The Iracing tire model is not good at all and makes the driving experience underwhelming and frustrating. I’m not going to get into the realistic or not realistic topic because it doesn’t really matter, it’s simply just not an enjoyable driving experience. If they were to fix this aspect, this would probably be the sim I’d play 90% of the time

My problem is that they charge a SUBSCRIPTION and each car and track costs. Now, I like the sim and everything. For the MONEY they charge, they need to steward official races. The continued excuse they throw out that "cream rises" and stick with it will get you out of the trash ratings. Some people don't have endless hours to overcome losing 2 weeks worth of rating gains that you loose in one race to some raging dude screaming on comms. When you only have time to race a couple races a day max, iRacing is NOT fun. For the Money they charge, official races need to have live stewards to keep the ragers from destroying peoples races. I should NOT have to PAY a SUB to play hall monitor with post race protests for people being complete childish clowns.

My advice 4 years in, is to buy tracks you like, but dont buy loads of cars. Buy one and commit to the series. There is so much choice in cars, but they take them away after a while, the tracks rarely get retired, especially the big ones like Laguna Seca etc.

the only thing that has got me stuck on not playing iracing is that I feel that there is no "career mode" in order to start getting some order to what to do, I feel lost are there any daily tasks (no time trials) other than the normal races for the week?

I guess the whole sim is your career if that makes sense? You can choose different series like road, oval or formula and you try work your way up the licenses.

@@TheDirtyLime yeah I like road and I'm going to try formula Vee as well as the mx 5, the thing is that other than practicing and you can only officially race one track over and over until the week ends no? that's what I'm kind of like lost on...

@@Cuervo79 I'm the opposite, when I joined iracing I knew I wanted to go down the formula route so career path was already chosen for me, I'm 3 years in now. I race every day, I absolutely love the platform. I've met some great people in races, lots of regulars in the same series, the banter is great, the racing is usually very clean and fair.
I must admit the lower ranks races are wild, it really does help a lot gaining safety rating and more importantly iracing. This puts you in splits with people are are far less prone to crashing.

I tried i-racing during the summer sale when it was 4 euro and the AI in thar first formula race was diabolical so that made it frustrating. Then it was some of the community that just got too much and i just refunded after about 4 days 😔

Sorry to hear that 😔 most of the people I’ve raced against have been good apart from the occasional bad apple. The good thing is you can report them and from what I’ve heard iRacing are pretty responsive.

@TheDirtyLime I've heard the people are good but when most of your friends call you stupid because you prefer F1 24 and whatnot to i-racing and insult you all the time while playing both isn't really the best experience and they are like hardcore i-racing fanboys

defenetly not "worth" it, in terms of how they basicly rip off people, but people spent theyr money anyways in vanity items. If u want to be part of iracing community/religion it costs a lot. All dependes on ypur values and needs
