@@marieamelieforrer472 Yep. I'm not sure about every HS but at mine we only got 2 tickets per family so you have to pay if you need more tickets, you had to pay for your cap and gown, any cords/badges/etc you were gonna wear and your seat at the graduation (because for some reason they had limited seats for students which made no damn sense). They also didn't tell us what the plans for graduation were until last minute- which was 2 weeks after the school year ended. We only had one rehearsal and everything was done half-assed. Pretty much ruined the whole experience for everyone and most people only went for their families. We weren't allowed to walk out but most of us were just sitting there waiting for our administrators to hurry their stupid speeches about pretending to have cared about us. Then when they did call our names like 3 hours in, they pronounced half of the poc student's names wrong (including mine) and all we got was a blank piece of paper. Afterwards we had to go to our assigned rooms (based on last name) where we would receive our actual diploma. Which further ruined the experience cause we basically sat through all that just to have to go somewhere else to get our real diploma instead of at our actual graduation. Once it was all, everyone quickly hugged, traded phone numbers or whatever with their friends and headed the hell out of there.
there is more to this than beating the line at Applebee's. no one has to attend the ceremony, you can skip it and just pick up your diploma later. she wanted the attention? or is very self centered? I find it hard to believe that she just wanted to beat everyone to Applebee's.

Ryder Washington Yeah, so I guess I'd be one of those kids then, huh? Because if I could do that, I would. Excuse my ignorance but you have to PAY for this ? What do you pay ? I am curious

She wasn't being rude at all, she got her diploma, she's graduated. Get off her back
I think it was very rude and disrespectful... everyone in the room stays whilst all of their class mates graduate. Everyone is there supporting each other and celebrating as a collective. This one person leaving just sticks out like a sore thumb in a very "i cant be arsed staying to see everyone on the happiest walk of their life" way. She should have not been selfish and shown respect!
Maybe the other people didn't earn her respect? I honestly say good for her, I wouldn't care if someone walked out on my graduation ceremony and would probably do the same thing if I could. Why do I have to stay there and clap as each person after me gets their diploma, etc. it's not like they'd even notice I was gone. She got to get out and go to a restaurant she wanted to go to before everyone else started leaving, and honestly, if my family came down for my graduation, I'd probably leave early too so I could spend more time with them. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. I am also a person that believes that you should respect your teachers, classmates, parents, etc. but I don't see her walking out as a sign of disrespect.
Madcatter "Earn her respect" tf...
Ryder Washington Like maybe they weren't kind to her, etc. Everyone's saying it's "disrespectful" to walk out. You give respect, you get respect that's the way it is. There could be many reasons, obviously one of hers was to get to Applebees before the rush.
Ryder Washington Yeah, so I guess I'd be one of those kids then, huh? Because if I could do that, I would. And trust me, I don't disrespect people in high school, I'm the shy misfit that everyone probably thinks is weird and nobody talks to. I definitely don't disrespect teachers and I for sure don't disrespect other students, though my guess is they probably make fun of me all the time. I absolutely hate school, and to be able to get out of the ceremony as soon as possible would be awesome for me, though I doubt my parents would ever allow it as their the ones that want me to go to the graduation ceremony in the first place, and I don't really want to. I am a senior in high school by the way.

Maddisson Malott it’s a joke but true
Maddisson Malott You’re going to be the next generation of the White mom stereotype. Learn how to take a joke.
Not this white mom
If this is news America has hit a new low.
Well. 12 years of school. And she has her diploma. Shes now done with all highschool stuff. Why wait anylonger for the ceremonie to end. I have my diploma. I am done with high school see ya later.
More like 15 if you count kindergarten and preschool. For me it will be 15
It's 13 years
More like 15 years lmao
The way she rocked those stilettos while leaving she's so sassy 😭
Okay!!!! I would've fell.
@d b not really she's probably used to wearing heels
@d b bruh
All the girls oh my god she is such a QUEEN!!
@d b i wear heels inside my own home
Who cares! It's her graduation. She got the diploma, she's done with HS. If she wants to leave then let her.
It's all theirs.
You dont NEED to be nice but it's nice to be nice.
I agree
I mean she already graduated. She just went there to collect the diploma and take photos. What’s the point of staying if she already did that
Whats disrespectful is for your school to charge you money for your cap and gown, going to the ceremony, and charge for the diploma.
Cameron Abney Mmhm
How dare them, specially since money is basically free.
Just ask the tax payers.....
OZOBIEUSA1 When you go to work, you don't expect to pay for your own check.... you work in school, earning credits, and EARNING your diploma..... so, making you pay for something you already earned is like having to pay a fee to receive your own check from work.... think about that.
Cameron Abney I agree... 😎
Beautiful Perception, Your education costs money. When you work you did some sort of job and got payed for it they profited. Do you think the school profits off of you reading a book ? Its like going out to eat and demanding you get payed money because you had to physically put effort in to eat the food. There is a reason college costs money.
How is it disrespectful? its her damn Graduation ...she's happy and excited I would probably do the same thing too
Because all those other students had to applaud her, but no - she thinks she's above that, and doesn't care.
Just because students did or didn't applaud her doesn't mean she has to be present in the rest of the grasduation. She may not have even liked anybody at her school?
That's not nice, "just because they choose to be nice to me doesnt mean I need to be nice to them.".
Is that your logic you sick person?
Eltic That is nothing at all similar to what I have said. I never said “if someone was being nice you shouldn’t be nice back” I was implying that it wasn’t mandatory for her to remain at the graduation OR for those students to applaud her. Also it is quite rude for you to assume I am a sick person, for you do not know me or what I have gone through and same goes for you. Have a good rest of your day. :)
I never said that.
Who cares. She graduated got her diploma and hauled ass. That's what your supposed to do. DUHH
Renee Howard *who cares. She graduated, got her diploma, and hauled ass.* also *you’re*
Meet the Bonk My apologies Grammer patrol. I'll serve my time in the corner because I hate writing sentences over and over again. 😁lol j/k
+Renee Howard I'm a dick, but it is "grammar" with an "ar" at the end
Nem she did it again
walking out signifies that you only care for yourself
i can't believe i didn't hear about this until now , this should be on every news channel all over the world because its one of the most important events that happend this year wow
