Here's a dumb question... Can I paint my figures any color I want? I want my rebels to have more greens. I don't know how war games work where you have to paint your own figures (only mini games I've really gotten into are heroclix and x-wing) and just thought I'd ask. I want to make sure there isn't factions or anything with special rules. Like perhaps there's a sub faction of the rebels that dress in greens and have thier own unique abilities...so you have to have them in that paint scheme. I don't know...lol it makes sense in my head by I'm having a hard time explaining it! haha TLDR: Can I paint my figures any color I want?
absolutely. google search "Rebel trooper Rogue one" to get a look at different schemes. (also remember the helmet ring is a different color that the cap underneath it.)
Oh yeah, there's way more flexibility with the rebel troopers than some gamers will tell you. Like Tom Ryan says, the troopers in Rogue One have a different color scheme than what was seen in Return of the Jedi. Rogue One's troopers have a lot more browns and reddish brown tones, that's what Rob's paint job here reminds me of which I think is a very cool look for them. The Endor color scheme on the other hand was more that classic green cammo shades to blend in with the forest. But if you think about all the different planets these guys could fight on, you could paint them really any way you want! Imagine like a lava/burnt rock kind of planet, you could paint your troopers in a gray/blackish uniform color. Only problem for me is my OCD does make me want to match them up to the theme of the board I'm using. I'm a little crazy, I bought two core box sets so I have enough troopers to do a couple squads in the desert and forest camo, and another couple squads in more of a snow-based color scheme like from Hoth. It personally bugs me if I was to use my desert troopers on a snow board! But that's just me!
I know that, and since you paint the entire model as one, I don't understand why you don't put the arms in properly. If this video is expected to be viewed by those inexperienced with miniatures gaming and painting, or even those gamers just looking into Legion, they may expect that to be normal with Legion figures and be disappointed.
I don't mind spraycans for their bite but I've had my issues with them and then to fix the issues ruined my models. Why I'm happy to use Airbrushing primer then once I am all done I brush on varnish on my models.

What product do you use for the gloss coat before applying the wash? You skipped over that part and went right to the result.
Gloss Vanish from Model Masters (Testors)
He said he would wash the face darker or did he just wash the face and beard like everything else
Is it bad if I've already glued the minis together and to their bases before painting?
Thanks a lot, now my soldiers look great! Are you going to do the same tutorial for the rebel walker?
Cool vid cheers bud
Thanks for the video, I'm new to painting miniatures so this is very helpful :)
Do you have pictures of the other minis in the unit that I could look at? I couldn't find them on y our website.
Great! I didn't want to do endor colours and you've got my mind going.

generally in MOST tabletop games, paint your armies however you like,
i've never heard of WYSWYG for color schemes on units, wargear yes, paintjobs no
th-cam.com/video/X3oXsOeFx2I/w-d-xo.html
Great tutorial, I just found my color scheme. Thanks!
looks like grandpa aka captain rex
why didn't you paint all the cloth of the helmet? (The top part is cloth with an armor "ring" around it)
hello?
Huge gap in the left shoulder...
arms are not glued :)

rather than gluing to a base for painting would blu-tac or some other similar sticky putty be fine?
I dont see why not!!
Out of curiosity : that base is a GW one, didn't come from FFG ?
I painted the FFG bases separately then glued the figs to them. its all in the video :)
I don't mind spraycans for their bite but I've had my issues with them and then to fix the issues ruined my models. Why I'm happy to use Airbrushing primer then once I am all done I brush on varnish on my models.
paint on primers are 100% cool.
Vallejo and Army painter make great ones.
I've used Gesso as a paint on primer in the past with really good results. Really nice in Indiana winter.
