Loving the speedpaint guides, coming back to wargaming for the first time in 20 odd years, the guides are super useful!

I really like the extra schemes instructions at the end of this video and in the previous one. Please do more of this. It really helps us to move from the basic 'follow tutorial and that's it's syndrom 😅
I’m definitely a huge fan of army speedpaints. I’m still a complete newbie at painting but what I’ve done using it has vastly improved the look with relative ease at a low cost compared to other brands
Can I Just say, we need more painting videos guys! I’m a fan of your products and well, i just enjoy painting videos lol btw, i literally painted my guys almost exactly using these methods! 😅
I would like a video showing how to load the brush with the speed paint, best mixing ratios between SP and the medium, and just in general the best way to avoid streaking because I can try an paint the exact same mini's a youtubers and my work comes out with much more streakage.
This is fantastic. I just got the Legion core set for my kid and I’m so happy I can just paint the stormtroopers so easily and with my existing speed paints.
I started painting Warpaints for my Star Wars Legion figures. And then I gradually approached the Speedpaint colors. When the 2.0 version of the Speedpaints came out, I immediately treated myself to a complete set. I think the colors are great and save a lot of time. Just right for my Freebooter's Fate figures.
I find that a drybrush of white makes the armor chalky. My favorite approach right now is to use Blinding White mixed 1:4 with speedpaint medium. This provides a subtle effect that mostly just deepens the shadows in the corners and recesses while avoiding all blotchiness.
I'm very glad you made this video. I love speed paints, but had become frustrated about doing anything white. I've learned that Battleship Grey what I had to use trying to only use speed paints. Now that I know I need to dry brush a white on top is very helpful. (I have done pure white base coat / AP Primers)
I don’t know if your paint range offers similar colours, but Sorastro‘s method achieves a far more convincing result. I painted an entire Republic army by slapping on a mix of „white“ and grey contrast paint thinned down with their medium and wiping away the paint anywhere where the pure white highlights should sit. With a bit of practice the gradients look amazing in literally 1 coat or 2 steps, however you want to look at it. Zero chance of a chalky drybrushed look as well. Thank you for sharing!
man the timing of this video is perfect, i'm painting legion and shatterpoint, and when I search for speed painting legion... Speed paints didn't exist, but everyone called fast painting " speed painting" and everyone is using citadel and other colors, but I only own army painter. So it's been frustrating, but this is pefect. Can we now get one about the droids? specially b-1 / droideka / b-2
Thank you for doing this! I literally just painted a bunch of Wolfenstein space marines, and I needed that exact combo you used for the "weathered" storm trooper look. I screwed up so much trying to figure out the best way to speed paint them, it was extremely frustrating, and all the videos I could find for speed painting white armor were for the "White Scar" 40k marines or a few clean stormtroopers. I ended up finding a combo using speed paints and diluted washes that turned out okay. But the weathered look would have given me exactly what I needed! Here's hoping this helps someone avoid all the frustration I went through.
I went to do my first Trooper/Clone minis and had to stop to order some Blinding Light after seeing how grey holy white was. The blinding light ones came out so much better.
Just subscribed! Love the content, wish I had found you guys a long time ago, I had to learn a lot of your tips the old fashioned "Hard Way"... let's just say I could donate A LOT of mini's to that other TH-camr "eBay Miniature Rescue"
Great tutorial, thank you. But can you tell me if there's a reason why you wouldn't paint the black parts before the holy white to make clean up easier? Is it because the holy white would stain the black because it covers more than a wash?
i just picked up some speedpaints to play catchup on my pile of shame, and so far, im loving it. looking forward to trying the blinding light + drybrush on my Retribution of Scyrah
Before I order, I have a question: there's 2.0 and 2.0+, at different prices, on the website and I'm having trouble figuring out what difference there is between the two.
Unfortunately it is not for sale, however we are currently doing a mega giveaway where the top prize is a Complete Speedpaint Rack! For more details watch our video 'It's about to get NUTS!' - th-cam.com/video/ZDRm_ArUyRk/w-d-xo.html 🤘
It sounds like you may be putting too much paint on the brush? Since Speedpaint is designed to flow onto your model quickly and easily, it can also flow up into the ferrule of your brush through capillary action if there is too much on the brush or it got loaded too far up the bristles. This can cause the bristles to splay as all of the liquid at the base of the bristles is pushing them apart.
This method of painting is clear and easy to understand. Especially love the variations at the end. Keep it up!
The variations really sell it, such a great way of showing how one technique can be applied in many places.
I'm here. Got those miniatures for Legion and god the speed paint starter pack.
The color guide and comparison at the end of the video is pure gold. Thank you!!!
My son and I love ÿour stuff and use it in all our hobby projects !
I love this example of painting the storm troopers, thank you
Fantastic guide, please continue doing more on
Speedpaint painting guides please!
I have a bunch of clone troopers that I was going to finally paint this week, so the timing on this vid was great!
Thanks for the help. Please make more of these vids.
I really appreciate this. thank you.

I feel I need to dust off my old Legions box and start painting!
Cool as always. 👍

The painting is great but your presentation with the camera work is fascinating!

Thanks, I gonna try that when I paint mine.
These new pallid bone and algae green are awesome colors
I use this exact method to paint my Gamma Galaxy Snow Ravens for Battletech. It works great!
Love the painting with white guides
I can't wait to get speedpaint 2.0 to try out. I love the range so much!
I bought a starter set and was holding back on painting my stormtroopers but this has been really helpful 👍
I love it!
I will be trying to replicate this for my clones in the very near future! Thanks for the tutorial!
quite tempted to paint a few battletech mechs up like this, Comstar really benefits from a nice white paintjob...
Great painting video, please do more like these!!!! I especially love the diagram at the end - unique and great idea!

Great guide and easy to follow, thanks!
Great tutorial!
Loved the bases!
I use Speedpaint medium to dilute the white speedpaint to give it a further white tone.
very helpful ;D
i know someone who really needed that video
Looks good! I'll have to try the technique on Clone Troopers
Going to do this with the new nids box! 🎉
Saw your great giveaway and I just gotta say… It's about to get NUTS!
Love Blinding Light! Works much better as a White for me than Holy White.
I went to do my first Trooper/Clone minis and had to stop to order some Blinding Light after seeing how grey holy white was. The blinding light ones came out so much better.
Good to see that the video is public and not privatised. 😂
Haha we were so eager to post it that we forgot to make it public 😂
Looks great

i'll be painting my Gandalf the wight that way
Nice!
Very nice
It's about to get NUTS!
Awesome
Great result, but Thomas forgot about the rim/trim on the helmet... It's black, if your going for canon colors 😅
I'll remember it next time ;)
@@coltaupainting1588 👍🏻👍🏻😅
You need to paint black the rubbery eyebrow!
Yeah I noticed how that got conveniently missed as well 😆
Please make more instructional videos for Star Wars Legion units!
@theArmyPainter lova the tutorial and how i can put my hands on that nice black cutting mat?
Will you be posting more Star Wars: Legion tutorials soon?
Speed paint 4 lyfe
its about to get NUTS
What are the squares with the AP logos you are putting the paint on and prepping the drybrush?
This could easily translate to a Comstar paint scheme in BattleTech!
Great tutorial, thank you. But can you tell me if there's a reason why you wouldn't paint the black parts before the holy white to make clean up easier? Is it because the holy white would stain the black because it covers more than a wash?
i can’t answer for toumas but for me with my aging eyes the speed paint helps define the details and makes it easier to see where to apply the blacks.
i just picked up some speedpaints to play catchup on my pile of shame, and so far, im loving it.
looking forward to trying the blinding light + drybrush on my Retribution of Scyrah
❤
Just clicks with the speedpaint. White has always gave me the fear in painting for it to look right.
“It’s about to get NUTS!”
Sweet ty
Before I order, I have a question: there's 2.0 and 2.0+, at different prices, on the website and I'm having trouble figuring out what difference there is between the two.
As far as I can tell the + comes with an extra brush and plastic dry palette.
It’s about to get NUTS!”
Please add a note to let the mini dry.
Nice work.
easy but nice :)8
Usefull for Shatterpoint’s clones ?
Huge giveaway!
Is this using the original speed paint? If so dose the dry brush not reactivate the speed paint?
These were painted with Speedpaint 2.0 :)
i already have the complete speedüaint 2.0 set but i would like to buy the rack for storage. Is the rack for sale?
Unfortunately it is not for sale, however we are currently doing a mega giveaway where the top prize is a Complete Speedpaint Rack! For more details watch our video 'It's about to get NUTS!' - th-cam.com/video/ZDRm_ArUyRk/w-d-xo.html 🤘
Did you guys do Holy White in the 2.0 version yet?
Yes - all the original colours are part of the 2.0 range :)
Nioce.
Every time I try to use Speed Paints, my brush hairs just spread out instantly like a flower opening and the brush is ruined. What am I doing wrong??
It sounds like you may be putting too much paint on the brush? Since Speedpaint is designed to flow onto your model quickly and easily, it can also flow up into the ferrule of your brush through capillary action if there is too much on the brush or it got loaded too far up the bristles. This can cause the bristles to splay as all of the liquid at the base of the bristles is pushing them apart.
: )
If I won a rack of speed paints, I might try my hand at TH-cam.... think I'd call my site, This Old Fart...
@thearmypainter How did you get the dirty look on th-cam.com/video/HwXnimyDE00/w-d-xo.htmlsi=U29Pj3miRraoLf9C&t=13
Looks fantastic =)
Mostly easy tutorial. Most difficult part is the black speedpaint
Too grey for my taste
Win awesome PRICES???
