    still fine for daily commutes, but the charging costs are going to be higher and more frequent

    The main issue is maintaining the heating ON. It adds around 5 kwh to the consumption. It is a better strategy to pre-heat the car while charging before leaving and drive with heating for seats.

    I suppose the choice between EV6/Ioniq5 and EQA is obvious, at the same price.

      My first thought too, but I trust you to check that ;-) Still, bit of a bummer to get so little range. Those big rims must make a bit of a difference, but it can't be that much. That range you got is barely more than half of the WLTP! I'm getting one in September and I'll be interested to see how it is for me...

  • @CanariesExplorer
    @CanariesExplorer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The range of 215km is ridiculous. This is one of the reasons people dont want EVs as they have poor range at motorway speeds and cold weather - who wants to stop unnecessarily in cold winter conditions to charge up after just 1.5 hours! . Under the same conditions even my 2002 Bmw 330d has a range of 530miles or 850km on 50 litres of fuel!

    • @minicirco
      @minicirco 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Range is not everything. And it depends on your need. If you need 500 miles, then you need to have a bit of math capabilities and personal agility. The consumption of energy of your old car is so or so much more higher than any new car. But, if consumption it’s not your thing, that‘s definitely not for you. And you have to live with your beloved nearly 20 year old car. I swapped my beloved Saab some years ago for an EV and I did not regret it at all. Read more about EVs, also about other models, then you may change your opinion. And, please do a test drive, it‘s so or so time for it! Time changes. So do you?

    great video - about a crappy car only produced to meet CO2 emissions.
    Ford Mustang Mach E with the 88 kWh battery has driven on saturday 600 km @ 90 km / h even though arrived at 1% SOC, the EQA did 360 km and 9% SOC = 396 km
    It pays off to develope a pure electric car and not the cheap development of a refitted ICE car.
    Hopefully they will sell really bad that someone will learn his lesson: no need for outdated retrofitted EV

      EQA 66,5kwH - 130km

    • @Ramkumar-cn7cx
      @Ramkumar-cn7cx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh this propoganda of cheap development and only released to meet CO2 requirements. Oh jeez. Stop. It was developed with all the requirements that are required to be a good EV. Mustang Mach E cannot be compared with this first since it has 88 kWh battery. Moreover it is a coupe for which is more aerodynamically efficient but you suffer from practicality (head room and trunk space).
      And EQA consumes 16.8 kWh/100km which is very good considering the size and form of this SUV. In fact it was supposed to be 425 kms according to WLTP and yet it driven almost 400 kms at an average of 90 kmph. I don't why this particular reviewer is very critical about consumption despite achieving 16.8 kWh/100km. If this person compares the consumption with other smaller EVs like Zoe, bolt and ID3 then he is pretty wrong at the basics. One could dislike a car or criticise it for what it is not good at, but cannot lie on facts regarding the consumption and make an apple or orange comparison. I hope the reviewer is not a Tesla or Volkswagen (value for money) person and just criticise all other companies(Benz and BMW) and simply disregard them for what they are good at.

      @@Ramkumar-cn7cx still not build on a EV platform.

    • @DarcersTech
      @DarcersTech 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ramkumar-cn7cx I’m sorry, but the EQA is just a badly engineered car which is full of compromises. The false boot floor got taken up by electronics, it has a massive boned yet no storage underneath, the battery is thick so reduced foot room for the rear passengers, the car is heavy, and I could go on… Not to mention, it’s very expensive for what it is. Compare it with something like the Enyaq / ID4 / Q4 e-tron and you will see the you can get much better cars for the same money.
      Mercedes slapped the EQA together just have something ready for the EU and Chinese markets with strict emissions regulations. Just like the EQC. They took their time and actually invested R&D into the EQS and it shows, because it actually looks like a properly designed EV.

    • @Ramkumar-cn7cx
      @Ramkumar-cn7cx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DarcersTech no most of your facts are something not to do with bad engineering. Massive bonnet is wrong and frunk concept is not something that most German manufacturers want to have. Personally that space is hardly used and just a gimmick (even if you use it for some cables). And reduced front room for rear is not right. The height of the vehicle is adjusted so that the rear passengers don't get affected by the battery on the floor.
      Moreover yes that's the disadvantage when you convert the ICE platform to electric vehicle. But it doesn't mean it's poorly engineered. You must know the difference between poorly engineered and freedom of building the vehicle from the scratch. Tesla is poorly engineered since it has badly designed BIW (panel gaps, faulty rear fender which falls off when vehicle drenches in water, water leaking through panels in almost most of the models, roof flying off, glass windows shattering, poor noise inside the cabin (66 dB above in model 3 and 59 in EQA and u can find the proof in TH-cam link in my above message). And you said it is heavy which means the handling is bad. That's a bad comment just looking at the spec sheet. The car has excellent stability and suspension and if you want more agility and dynamics, all wheel drive with more power is the right vehicle (EQA 300 or EQA 350) ! Sorry ID4 is 2.2 tonnes and how does it make a better vehicle to drive according to your logic ? And you talk about Q4 etron which has not even released ? Even though it's built on a PPE platform it still is not completely designed as electric vehicle. It takes over most of the stuff from Q4 ICE. That's the policy of VW development. One example is Etron which is taken over from Q6 or Q8 ICE. The electronics inside and all the management systems are simply not capable enough for it to be electric alternative. It's quite evident that most of the components in Etron cannot be updated over the air. Etron is not. But EQS will already be and EQA battery system at least is updatable. That's the sophistication of vehicle architecture that already is. Even taycan suffers in this. That's why it suffers heavily when it comes to efficiency(all the Audis) And have you every criticised about it ? BMW doesn't have full electric architecture till 2025 and did you know i4 is the vehicle taken over from 4 series ICE architecture ? Have u every noticed it ? Before like Mercedes architecture bmw architecture is also better suited for highly capable electronics. That's why they don't need a fully independent electric architecture till 2025. So talk facts before even throwing some random criticisms man. Because VW and Audi selling more vehicles, doesn't mean they are doing everything good. Don't be fooled by hype.

    Another mediocre EV. It bothers me! I`m a EV believer and I`m aware of the downsides, but bringing cars like this to market is doing more damage then good for EVs!!!
    How can you explain someone that`s used to ICE that EV is better or the future? With this range or consumption?
    Also, yes charging curve is flat and that`s great if you can spend 25-30min for stops, but isn`t it better to have high speed(peak) in the beginning, so if you`re in the hurry, just wait around ~15min and of you go? And couple that with very efficient car, you`re good for at least and hour and half of driving... This way is ridiculous...
    Too many mediocre EVs are coming out and its actually hurting EV adoption...
    Btw, nice video!

      I think this is done on purpose, remember how Mercedes had that electric B class couple of years ago with no fast charger and small battery, but with a high price tag...imagine how many cars Hyundai, Nissan and Tesla sold in the mean time...Mercedes will probably wake up when sales of their taxi range (E class) will drop as the cars will not be able to be around the city centres of the big cities in Europe.

    Sadly all your reviews about EQA are about bad comments mostly. I am a user of this car, I checked already 4 cars compared to this. At this cost none of them have the same build quality. NOONE!
    About the range though. I am not a race drive and the range of 300 kms with family is amazing for me. So somehow when you talk about VW with nice range you dont talk about its shitty build quality.
