What I love about these bosses is how different they both fight. Magni is aggressive and a powerhouse, so he sloppily swings his giant sword and focuses more on Kratos since he's the taller and stronger brother. Modi on the other hand is on the defensive and rarely goes for kratos, and stays near magni if kratos goes near him. He also focuses only on atreus, the weaker of the two opponents, showing how cowardly he is

I love how kratos is calming his son down and not letting him go blinded by rage like he did before.
The last time he let rage consume him he let Pandora die. It was in a very similar way too. Kratos tried to keep Pandora from the box but Zeus insulted him and told him he failed his wife and daughter, in blind rage he let go to fight Zeus and she died. He knows VERY well that losing yourself to anger is bad.

Fun mythical fact: Magni is actually stronger than Thor in the myth. One time Thor was trapped under a giant he killed and he couldn’t lift it. In comes Magni who was 2 years old at the time and lifts the giant off of his father
Edit: I like how Magni is silent throughout most of the fight but Modi just insults Atreus every chance he can get. Magni is a true warrior and is a character I respect though we see so little of him

Good point on how respectful Magni compared to his brother. I think it shows that Modi is projecting onto Atreus, as he himself was likely treated a similar way back in Asgard.
In that vein, it's also fitting that Modi was also the one bring out the worst in Atreus in this game, both morally and physically.
Mimir mentions the story of Magni lifting the giant off of Thor in GoW 4 when you’re rowing around the Lake of Nine. If I recall correctly though, Magni and Modi lifted it together in his retelling of it
Idk if you mean in game or in actual mythology. But in game Thor was struck in the head and knocked silly by the stone giant after he fell it. He could’ve easily moved it had he not been cracked in the head and tired from fighting.

Then I just imagine him as in the Marvel movies (even though I know this is way different as if that wasn't obvious enough). I just laughed and imagine him as his Marvel version fighting these guys. So awesome. I definitely look forward to the next game or a DLC if they decide to end it there. Also, that secret ending just made me even more excited.

At 7:07 i might be grabbing at things but i think this was Kratos considering whether to kill him, i don’t have much to go off of but Kratos is way stronger then either of them so it’s not like he was struggling and later in the game when Modi dies Kratos says i’ve been teaching you to survive which says that Kratos has been on defense this whole time and isn’t trying to fight back and he knows of the consequences of killing a god, i’m sure this doesn’t have some super deep thing or great affect on the plot and it’s just something they added in as a detail.

Played this part yesterday on the hardest difficulty... that move where Magni throws Modi in the air and he comes down with a lightning strike, one hit and it almost drains a full health bar!
And it amazes me how Kratos remains composed and even tries to calm Atreus after all that shit talk about him and his family from Modi, very mature of him. I guess the past has a way of humbling someone.

Second even in gow 3 he still struggled with Hercules as a fight. He legitimately had to use his speed because too many direct attacks from herc would kill him. Hell the only reason herc dies at all is because he starts gloating when he hadn't won yet

Opal Grape Jam if this is anything like the other games it’s difficult to parry an attack. A lot of games give you a huge window to parry compared to the GOW games.
You clearly haven't seen Dark Souls parry windows.
no bloodborne and darksouls parrys are way more difficult.
As a Bloodborne player, I can confirm that the parry windows are real fucking tiny and you almost never get to do it, let alone a backstab
Father Guacamole parry windows for me at least are very easy, maybe you’re just not shooting when they are about to attack.
This is a very polished, amazing game that I adore as a new chapter in a LOOOONG line of games. AND it refreshes old lore combining with a new chapter. Masterpiece

I bought this game from Gamefly for about $10 back in early 2019 and played it for a little while. I recently picked it back up before I get the PS5 and I am loving every minute!
This fight caught me by surprise, in a good way. Man it was fun and probably my favorite battle so far.
