Balder is probably my favorite God of War villain. His demeanor, story, voice acting is so cool. He is also probably the strongest Aesir - he gives so much trouble for Kratos while fighting with his bare fucking hands. While Thor has his unbreakable hammer, Odin his witch-slaying spear, and even Kratos the Leviathan Axe and the Blades, Balder goes bare handed.
Baldur's only strong because he's unkillable with the spell Freya created. In the actual Norse Mythology Baldur is one of the weakest Gods to exist, but Santa Monica chose to make him different, it's there adaptation at the end of the day and loved every minute of it.
True, but this isn’t the myth. Odin himself seems to hold Baldur in higher regard than Thor, who he considers brainless muscle. Baldur was his best tracker, his ‘closer’, someone who he depended on for solo or small team missions. Invulnerability or not, he had over a hundred years of being a relentless bare knuckle fighter. And even without his immortality he repeatedly healed from wounds given by the Leviathan Axe, which would later give Thor a wound that didn’t heal even long after the fact.
Thank you MC for posting these cut scenes. The God of War games are deep and sometimes emotional. Even though it's "just a video game" there are lessons in it that can be learned and applied in real life.
Truth is, Baldur is far from most exiting GOW Character, but his voice acting is just another level, story is good, but without his voice actor he wouldnt be so memorable.Good we have amazing visuals to match this, this as a whole makes it incredible.
27:55 i see this as how the thought process of a man and a woman is fundamentally different here, a different perspective. Baldur wanted to feel, and Freya being her mother wanted to protect him at any cost. Whether she understood his point of view and tried to not enforce her protection on him, or he understood her point of view and be not able to feel anything in exchange for a painless life, does not matter because there will never be a common ground. There's no logic to this
Youre understanding doesn't make sense, this isn't the thought process between genders. Its more of what a parent wants vs what their child wants. Your argument would only work with freyas husband, it's just incorrect to see this as man vs woman thought process ...
Basically. Im pretty sure the lack of being able to feel anything drove him a little nuts, and he was raised in an extremely violent and sadistic environment, which didn't help anything
I will always like this one over ragnarok. This was new, fresh, had just enough of kratos' bad attitude but not so much it got obnoxious or old. In the second game he turned into the Mr Roger's of social interaction, very PC.
@amivron character development is well and good but he was neutered. If I wanted a heart warming story of a father who changed his ways I'd watch a hallmark movie. Imagine a God of War who doesn't want another war, all because he had a child with some random red head and the child looks like a mouth breather
He was so relieved to feel literally anything he probably would rather lose just to feel something than win but still feel nothing. In terms of character the closest equivalent would be Hector Barbosa from POTC: COTBP @mr.legend3266
The best game ever made in history Red dead or ghost of tsushima or the last of us are nothing compared to god of war I swear to god i have played all of them but god of war is infinite times better but people dont want to accept that
I've played all too, I do miss the hack and slash a little, but for next-generation of gaming this is exactly what God of War needed. The developers done a perfect job creating this new modern version.
@@MissableContentI don’t miss it. I mean there is some fun parts but I recently replayed go of war 1 and 2 and I got annoyed when fighting the different enemies. So repetitive that I started using up magic hit to get them gone faster because I grew tired of it. The combat in the new games is far and away better. Even if you have been fighting lots of enemies it doesn’t have that repetitive feeling like the older games have. Like anything else though it’s open to interpretation by who is playing. Everyone has a preference.

@@AntonNight True, santa monica definitely changed a lot and made it there own. Props to them, enjoyed every minute!
In the "he searched a giant"theory he would be very very very dumb
13:48 is pure gold. It showed how much of a good protective father Kratos is.
Just finished 2 days ago, impressive story, impressive character development. Started NG+ yesterday.
Ahhh, the real journey begins! enjoy!
@@MissableContent thanks🤜
It amazes me till dis day how small Baldur was and he was tuff asf
Immortality spell son it responds to all attacks physical or magical
@@Rhino-Prime with or without his curse Baldur was a demon, nigga threw nothing but hands the whole time with kratos🤣
boulder is involved invulnerable to all threats physical and magical
what a masterpiece of a game, you don't even have to play it to enjoy it. its downright moviematerial

Cinematic games, movies, tv and music have huge influences in our life. You're welcome, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
5:10 had to be the meanest and cleanest combo
That uppercut 🙃
Did you notice Atreus’s eyes glowed white when he called the world serpent
Yes, this happens in both games. I guess it's the way he summons his animal side

Thanks

Still gives me goosebumps - they're performance was legendary.

Thanks man

one of the strongest ever

8:20 Kratos after he fights the lord and saviour Jesus Christ (I don’t know I’m not religious)
21:30 If I were Baldur I would leave at this point
Music in god of war is so good 🔥
“Amen”🙏🏾❤️

Make me omnipresent
Make me omnipotent
Make me omniscient
It's interesting to look at the first interaction knowing what you know at the end of the game. He was completely wrong about who he was talking to.

Am I the only one who thinks that Freya's face was poorly animated, considering the awesome acting of the actress?
Yeah, some of her facial expressions didn't quite match Danielle'voice, despite you still can feel the emotion impact
