That and how it showed how much Faye loved Kratos. She knew he was monster in complete grief and regret for all that he has done. @@pallettownheroes2738 Farbauti's name means "Dangerous striker", with the strike being lightning bolts. Zeus being the god of Thunder and Kratos's dad, coupled with the fact that Farbauti could also be translated to "anger striker" (and boy do we know Kratos's mood range goes from totally pissed to extremely annoyed) it is oddly fitting
@@LET4M4RU i do get where you're going with your connections on this. didn't doubt any of the previous comments either, my issue is, that for loki to have been born, farbauti struck his wife with a LIGHTNING BOLT. it took a curse and shameful deceit to harm his first wife and daughter, i severely doubt, he stuck his late wife this time. thats what im getting at. we all know kraitos has anger issues, and he;s the son of zeus, blah blah blah. if lighting can impregnate frost giant women of jordenhiem, then they should of been man whoring thor's ass a long damn time ago.
@@pallettownheroes2738 God of war took liberties about mythologies in the past and throughout this game. I just realized that the realm is covered in dead giants at 9:28. She’s being left to rest with the rest of her people. Also the images of the cars his chains left on him is such a beautiful metaphor for how he’s a victim of his own rage.
There are things in the world of video games that you just have to let go and remind yourself that a video game being a completely unrealistic thing is allowed a small space to be unrealistic in somethings for the sake of carrying on with the game.
After Kratos gives Atreus the ashes, you can see Kratos actually putting the wrist armor... extremely quickly... somehow, and also you see him adjusting it, making it fit.

As was made clear in the game itself. The giants are race of humanoids differing in sizes. The term "giant" is not actually a reference to any real life size.
Why is the story behind why Kratos named his son atreus so overlooked? That was a beautiful story and reason to name him that. Idk, I dint see much people talking about it.. it touched me.
And that is what I find interesting about it, because it is another take on the nordic mythos and mabe another story for it. I mean thik about it, he WOULD be Loki, but because of Kratos, he became Atreus, and now the Nordic mithology does not have a loki, changing the storyline from the regular Nordic mithology

It's kind of awesome that when Kratos was finally ready to stop hiding his past and finally show his true self to Atraeus with courage, Atraeus was unbothered by it, and didn't think any ill of his father for it. Atraeus was literally like "Okay, let's go."
Kratos: "I have nothing to hide now" *unwraps bandages and has his moment. Atreus: "Can we go now?" Me: " B O I ! Can't you wait? The man's in his feels.
From being a merciless killing machine , a brave soldier , slave for the gods, God of war , god Slayer , vengeance seeker , to finally being a good father such an epic journey
CommanderCorson precisely. Baldur was sent to Kratos' home to kill the last living giants, not to kill gods. He had no idea that Kratos was a Greek god.
The game drops many subtle hints as to *B O Y* being Loki. When he first finds out he's half god one of the first things he asks is if he could turn Into an animal, he also starts acting a bit more mischievous. As you said Baldur says "I thought you'd be bigger" Because he was looking for Faye. But these are only a few hints among many more.
Comments talking how Kratos is going to die, dude tried to kill himself several times, stabbed himself with the blade of Olympus then crawled away grabbed the blades of chaos and made love to a giant. only way he dies is for plot.
Even if Odin and Thor managed to kill him, he just need to crawl back from Helheim or just ask Hel to free him since practically Hel is his granddaughter.
Did you just call Kratos a coward?, bruh he's never afraid to anyone even to Odin or Thor just because they're stronger than him, remember when he just straight up challenged Zeus in the beginning of GOW 2 despite his grievous wounds while Zeus had the upper hand. The reason why he didn't want to fight Odin or Thor for now is because he didn't want to repeat the same mistake he did in Greece, and he have no reason to fight either of them unless if they provoke or challenge him like Baldur, Magni, and Modi did. If he did afraid to Odin or Thor he should've worried about the consequences or their vengeance after he killed 3 of their kin.
He was killed by a blind god, Höd,- however, it was Loki who discovered Baldr's one weakness was Mistletoe, and he was the one who gave the blind god the mistletoe that killed Baldur. So Loki was indeed responsible through being involved and giving the Mistletoe, though he was not the one who delivered the blow. But here - Atreus shot Baldr with the mistletoe that took away the immortality. So while it is a bit different from the story, Baldur's death was still by Mistletoe and Loki's involvement.
Atreus and his father only learned that Mistletoe was Baldur's weakness right after Baldur's punch lead to a piece of the arrow being pierced to the untouchable god's flesh.

I love that whole story. Boi: "So, why'd you want to name me Atreus? I know it can't be for a god." Dad: "Ha. No. He was a soldier. A Spartan." Boi: "A great warrior?" Dad: "All Spartans are great warriors. We train from birth. Our lives were discipline, duty, battle, and death. Life was grim, and we greeted it grimly." Boi: "Mmhmm." Dad: "But Atreus of Sparta was unlike the rest of us. He wore a smile even in the worst of times. He was happy. He inspired us to hope that though we were machines of war, yet there was humanity in us. Goodness. When the day came for him to lay down his life in battle, his sacrifice saved countless others and turned the tide in our favor. I carried him home on his shield and buried him with all the honors of Spartan custom. His memory was a comfort in dark times."
I swear on all the gods, living and dead, my heart stopped for a moment after I found out his true name. Loki, the Trickster God. Asgard will fall, and the Halls of Valhalla will be painted crimson. RAGNAROK IS COMING
Honestly. I just sat there with my controller in hand. Even if i didnt know a lot about the Nordic Mythology, it felt like an impactful moment. I felt it was very well conveyed and a definite highlight for the Endgame !
This really is a great part. One worth going through all that suffering throughout the game. Nice revelation, cool way to have an alternate Loki origin story come full circle, the father and son dynamic really peaks here as Kratos finally shows that he does in fact love his son, despite how harsh he may have been... Just perfect
No one here is commenting on how underrated of a moment it was when Kratos found out Faye was a Jotün, seriously, he found out she had lied to him for their entire relationship, and he just accepted that. No anger, no rage, just pure, calm acceptance. That was the moment where I’m like yeah, he’s not the same Kratos from the GoW games, he’s the one they were all building toward
TheGolden BloodedGamer Kratos told Atreus he was a god, and that he killed his father, but that was it. Going on just what his father told him, Atreus would have no idea what the bandages were there for, or what the scars underneath meant. He's still just a kid, he doesn't know better.
I hate to see those MCU fans thinking they know everything about northern/scandinavian mythology. just because they saw ,,Thor". (Doesnt mean i hate marvel)

Hi I'm a person not at all, everyone starts somewhere just because it’s not the source material doesn’t mean you aren’t valid in liking these characters
I think one of the reasons why this game is so special is because it’s a lot more deep and complex compared to not only it’s predecessors, but most games in general. Kratos goes from a neutral brute to a loving and righteous father. Atreus goes from an inexperienced child to a young warrior. As the game goes on, they bond a lot more, the relationship is one that starts off sketchy but becomes strong! The hero’s journey is so complex and vast.
I call it: Next God Of War game will be called “God Of War: Ragnarok - Edit: Woah! I can’t believe I actually guessed it right lol thanks for the 1k likes!
I got massive chills when I reached the peak and saw the landscape of Jötunheim.. filled with the corpses of the giants. Such a gruesome and yet breathtaking view. The giants just wanted a place to live in peace, but the Gods of Asgard couldn't let them. They really get you pumped to make Odin and Thor pay for what they did to the giants.
That's the weird thing however: the giants of Jotunheim were not killed by Odin and Thor. Something else did it. Jotunheim was closed for the rest of the Realms.
"All Spartans are great warriors." Teamwork... Cohesion!!! Great Leadership to rep his team than himself. Hardly any comments I read about how he was named after a Spartan.
It takes a man to see the mural of his own death (6.40) and walk away unaffected. Given Kratos’ story, his life of pain and vengeance, it makes his character so unique and interesting. This man is truly the best character the gaming industry had to offer.
@@AzraelSoulHunter yea I was gonna say the same thing like dude has died a number of times now and each time he was like well I'm a busy man so I'm out of here
'No. This is your story.' that drives it home, doesn't it? Kratos finished his journey. He won, lost, came back, slew his entire pantheon... Kratos isn't a hero anymore. He's still as strong as ever, but his destiny is finished. He won. Now, he's free to choose his future in a way few gods are. And he chooses to spend it with his son, helping him through the same bullshit Kratos went through. In the next few games we'll probably be able to pick which character we play as. The point of that is obvious. Atreus, Loki, is the hero now. His father's just hanging around to give advice and watch the future unfold.
Personally I like that its a new way to continue the story. It gives a sort of finality and makes the mythology of the game feel real. The series can still be the god of war but with Loki running the ship taught by the very man the series started with.
You can hear the subtle change in music when Atreus revealed that he was called Loki, almost like it was foreshadowing the being that would go on to bring about Ragnarok would come forth from a boy like Atreus. Pretty spooky, especially considering that Kratos ended the Greco-Roman Pantheon. On that note, destroying godly pantheons is apparently a family business.
Actually, he WAS a loving father all along. Then Ares tricked him into killing his greek wife and daughter. His rage was more pragmatic than intrinsic. Had he not been born a spartan or half-god it's not far to say he would be a peaceful guy.
"The ones who have the roughest and darkest of pasts are the ones who can teach others with their knowledge and experience in order to forge a brighter future."
I think what will happen if Kratos dies is that Atreus will seek revenge to the person who kills his father, cause Ragnarok and kill all of the gods in this mythology like Kratos did in the greek mythology.
Portgas D. Ace Kratos repeatedly tells his son to not be like him. “We must be better, you must be better” i thinks this is an indication that loki cough Atreus isn’t going to seek revenge
huskytzu Ragnarok is predetermined in norse mythos. The fact that jormungand exists(born only to kill thor) is proof of that, as jormungand is loki's son.
Or they can do whatever they want and make it fit. After all kratos is Not part of actual Greek mythology, or any mythology for that matter. That means in the end that not only can he survive, but it’s possible that him and his son Loki can stop ragnorak, it’s really all in the writers hands I think
That moment when we saw Kratos lying on Atreus laps. It explained everything. I am scared to play god of war 5. Something bad is coming. I will always miss you kratos
God of War (2018) was a beautiful game seeing a once bloodthirsty warrior fight against gods to avenge his family become a father to a child, and delve into what made him such a unique character But we only recognize it from "*BOY.*"
The reason Kratos is calling him "Boy" is a funny one: Christopher Judge spoke the lines before the Devs decided to call Loki "Atreus" and the lines containing "Atreus" were recorded afterwards

@@MrShoopezino Yeah, wtf, how does Kratos in GOD OF WAR make me cry? 10/10
Literally said that the first time I heard him say it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just realized; Atreus's Norse name is Loki. His mother is Laufey, which means that Kratos's Norse name is Fárbauti.
Considering he has Zeus's blood in him, the name would be fitting.
well...... farbauti, was only known for striking laufey with a lightning bolt that conceived loki..... so maybe i guess? kraitos never seemed to me as the one to "willing strike" his wife in any form, which is my only problem with the comparison
Because he was looking for Faye. But these are only a few hints among many more.
Comments talking how Kratos is going to die, dude tried to kill himself several times, stabbed himself with the blade of Olympus then crawled away grabbed the blades of chaos and made love to a giant.
only way he dies is for plot.
Then plot it shall be.
The plot protection is too much
Even if Odin and Thor managed to kill him, he just need to crawl back from Helheim or just ask Hel to free him since practically Hel is his granddaughter.
imparak maybe he can only be killed by his son🤷🏽♂️
In Norse Mythos, Loki is the responsible for Baldur's death. Makes sense now.
patadeurso if you knew the story. You would know he was killed by s blind god.
The first time you ever see Atreus in-game, he's shown holding a mistletoe.

It takes a man to see the mural of his own death (6.40) and walk away unaffected. Given Kratos’ story, his life of pain and vengeance, it makes his character so unique and interesting. This man is truly the best character the gaming industry had to offer.

that drives it home, doesn't it?

Just Content unfortunately that is not the case cause Odin already exists and Kratos was also called the name of Loki’s ice giant father in mythology
I think what will happen if Kratos dies is that Atreus will seek revenge to the person who kills his father, cause Ragnarok and kill all of the gods in this mythology like Kratos did in the greek mythology.
Portgas D. Ace makes sense
Portgas D. Ace Kratos repeatedly tells his son to not be like him. “We must be better, you must be better” i thinks this is an indication that loki cough Atreus isn’t going to seek revenge

This game is a true masterpiece
I find it funny as i'm one of the few who have all 3 and see the console wars as bullshit. I love all the games, exclusive or otherwise. and this game is too good to hate
Mr Dweet-Dweet eehh I disagree.
It was good but a masterpiece it isn't.
munkeemojo haters gonna hate
Robert Rivera perfect ratings all across the board pretty sure it's a masterpiece
God of War = Kratos
If they put Atreus as the main character they need to call the game 'God of Mischief'
Or God of War: Mischief.

~The last Spartan~
The Last Spartan was a brave and loyal young Spartan commander who was very loyal to Kratos during his time on his throne as the God of War and was one of the few people Kratos actually cared for besides his family.
He received his title due to him being the only mortal Spartan survivor after the betrayal of Zeus killing and wiping evey solder in the battlefield with the blad of Olympus.
He was the warrior who traveled to the Island of Creation to save Sparta from zuse , crossing paths on the island and runing into each other they both fought in the dark resulting in Kratos accidentally killing the last spartan out of rage and confusion..
Once identity reviled !! & Even while dying, the Spartan remained loyal to his former captain and god..
Last words : " I have faith that our brothers of Sparta will live on through the true God of War".
The last spartan name was (Atreus)!!
Possibly, that would be great
Atreus from Sparta wasnt The last Spartan, Atreus died even before kratos got the blades of chaos
