I like how Mimir only knew them for like a couple hours and already wanted to give himself up to save Atreus
Probably because Mimir saw Kratos and Atreus as the only good that came to midgard. That and maybe they had a lot in common over mutual hate towards the Áesir.

This scene reminds me when Kratos finds Deimos, his brother. Deimos gets angry at Kratos, knockouts him and soon after that gets kidnaped by Thanatos. Then Kratos jumps off the cliff to save his brother.

I finally understand Freya’s decision to cast the spell on Baldur after doing some research on Norse mythology. According to Dr. Google, there was a prophecy that Baldur would die.
There was apparently another prophecy that Baldur would be reborn after ragnarok so Freya must have not heard that one.
Baldr was also the god of light, purity, and basically everything good. Everyone loved him
If that's true, he'll probably come back in the sequel as a good guy or antihero.

I think Freya knows that too so it's contradicting that she wanted to keep her son alive but she is also against Odin and only wanted peace or maybe end his ruling. after all, she is vital in bringing down Asgard in Ragnarok when Thamur's son spoke to her, and also as the queen of Valkyries.
She's retrieving her warrior spirit because she knows Ragnarok is coming and I hope she will not seek revenge and fight along side them.

I was wondering if Baldur was just like the Norse Mythology described, but then he became this saddic god after Freya casted her spell on him.
The game is based on the Norse Mythology but adds a lot "all gods are bastards"-stuff into it
Baldur in Norse mythology was kind and well loved by every being in Norse mythology, Except Loki, Who killed him and triggered the ragnarok

Actually Baldr's depiction in the game is similar according to Snorri's (an ancient Icelandic scribe) he wrote that Baldr was a warlord and described as very berserk like

1) Save his life and Atreus's
2) Prevent the giants from dying, he wants to prevent the genocide of the giants
the first reason is actually because he didn't deem atreus ready yet to spread his mother's ashes, for the second one however... oh you poor soul.

Everything he did in this game was purely for Atreus. He doesn’t give a shit about the giants at this point. If you read the novelization, pretty much every decision he makes comes back to Atreus. Even when he ultimately kills Baldur, it’s not because he wants to save Freya but it’s because he wants to spare Atreus losing another women he’d gotten attached to.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the whole game. I don't know why. I kind of get Logan vibes from it. Kratos is older, you can see he struggles a bit, he breathes heavily while running, but nonetheless, he keeps running like a fucking fright train, you know there is no stopping him. The music also gives an excellent vibe of desperation and urgency. His son is in danger. Baldur is not getting away so easily. Papa bear is coming for you.
