He deserves much better than what he was given. There is nothing wrong with his music.
Thanks Billy Ray ! We don't get the respect we deserve. No one talks about the Trail of Tears and how the Cherokee people were treated.
What a fabulous song! Billy Ray's vocals are spot on as always, but the instrumentals are off the charts! That acoustic guitar solo, and that smokin' mandolin, whew!! Loved the Chuck Berry lick!! 💜
Many I feel do not understand all that the Native Americans have ever been put through. Even today, they are starving and deeply impoverished. I wish more people would stand up for them.
There r people that suffer every were its not just the native americans but i agree people need to stand up for what they beleave in but so do the people that soffer they need to stsnd up to i think all people knows a litte about suffing and its a part of life but God put people here to watch over each other help each other up if one falls down
Native American suffer directly because of white people as a group.
Facts 💯. Our treaties are still being broken
@@masongray5648 you are an idiot
Chiara Dreher This man always has used his music 🎼 and name to do just that!
it's a song that awakens the hearts and souls of the inhabitants of this region, I love it
Cool
That it does my friend!
Powerful song
He is part Cherokee, as a long time fan of his I assure you, he speaks out for native Americans alot.
I met him, he's a good man. One of his best songs. he wrote this himself. Some people should understand there is no guideline as to what a Cherokee looks like. I am half Navajo and 1/4 Cherokee. Over the years my looks have changed. this is no different. People dog on this man and don't even have one clue as to how much raw talent he has. As a writer he's prolific most of his songs he's written or co written, today it say's alot... not to mention I ain't heard him degrade women and tell them to shake it for 'em.... no offence but if you can't read the whole book before judging then don't speak.
Thanks hun! just tired of them Bashing a good man. A wonderful person.
Well, maybe he'd get more respect if he had been more concerned about being his daughter's father, instead of her friend.
His words, not mine.
If this wasn't a Billy Ray Singing/Recording it would have been a big crossover hit. Imagine if Merle Haggard had recorded it or even Johnny Cash. Not right but thats the way it is. Mandolin player is beyond excellent!
He deserves to be in the hall of fame his music is heartfelt
Great Song Billy! I have a female Cherokee Ancestor that was force marched on the Trail of Tears. So I can relate! Thanks 😊 Billy!
Too many broken promises
Too many trail of tears
Too many times you were left cold
For oh so many years
Too many times you walked away
And was made to feel ashamed
And though you only tried to give
You were often blamed
How can this world be so dark
So unfair and so untrue
How did the cards of life
Fold right on top of you
God in heaven, hear my prayer
If you are still above
Send the children hopes and dreams
And lots and lots of love
For this I only ask of you to conquer all their fears
And let them soar like eagles across the trail of tears
My favorite Billy Ray song. Brings a tear everytime.
Brings Tears to me too :( Stay Strong!
This song means alot to me personally. I am Choctaw and Cherokee. Billy Ray has a really good voice and wish he'd sing more. YaKoKe, Billy Ray
Billy is one the most underrated country music artists. I love his music. But that is just my opinion.
In my radio he is six times a day with his sound.
true
I love his musics
I'm gettig this country vibe when I hear these kinds of musics
I don't know why but yeah hahaha
He's awesome!!
That is my opinion as well !
@@motherlandmars5999 I am a Christian and I think Islam is a belief of Satan due to your violence in the name of Allah!!!!!!
WOW...Billy Ray has found his calling with this style music! I can not get enough of it!
Great job Billy Ray!
Sound nice, how are you doing Donna hope you’re safe from the virus?
@@chrislorenzo7883 Donna is doing just fine. Thanks for asking young man.
❤ Indeed he still touches the deepest of my heart ❤
This song isn't simply about the suffering of the Cherokee. This is a poem describing the painful issue of intolerance and human displacement and humiliation. It is very applicable to our time period.
Cherokee were the last of the tribes of the southeast to have a trail of tears....choctaw were first, followed by creek & chickasaw then seminole and finally cherokee.
I'm part Cherokee Indian and this song means alot
@@AmyC37217 that awesome thanks for compliments
@@motherlandmars5999 👌 👍 👏
Maybe you should just listen with out the video and put it in to other people as well because other people are often blame for things they didn't do
Don't know how I missed hearing this song before..After all, my daughters and I are fans. Great job, Billy Ray!
Love this song. Not sure how you missed it.. LOL it happens.
this song reminds me of all the little children in foster care and just how they try to cope with being there cause sometimes people just don't care but I my self send this song to all of them
Grew up in the area this music video was filmed in. I still pass by that church, even though it closed about 2 years ago. ❤️ Beautiful song and video.
A magnificent video! Incredible song with memorable and phenomenal lyrics that permanently carve needed truth in human hearts. The arrangement is beautiful, and the melody is profound! This is Billy Ray's signature song, and it will live on as a classic country music song in the halls of golden memory!
Recently my family was forced off our land on the trail of tears. It got me leaning the history and when I found this song I got me to tear up.
The mandolin steals the show here frfr. Great song too. Hadn't heard it or thought about it for many years..
This song was ahead of it’s time, if it was released now people would pay attention!!!

This a special one
Great start and Beautiful lyrics
To many times 👌🦋
I just love billy's voice so much..
It calms me down when i am angry..
He surpasses his daughter in every musical note that he ever sung or played
Sorry, what a bullshit. Miley belongs to the best female vocalists of our time, easily....Do you think she was on stage with the Greatest, like Billy Joel, Dolly Parton, Marc Cohn, Elton John, Paul Simon, etc. by accident, or because she's famous ? Certainly not !!
@@dfifty2 and Billy Ray has sung with Charlie Daniels, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Jamey Johnson, Shooter Jennings, George Jones, and Loretta Lynn. What are you getting at?
we do not have to look at the past to see the suffering that has to take place for us to know that change has to take place. no matter what. alot of people had to suffer so we could be what we are to day. just like Jesus had to endure the crusafiction. it is sad. I think about what my ancestors went through so we could have the life we have to day. god bless you Billy Ray for putting them in to word.
BEST EVER BILLY RAE U HAVEN'T FORGOT WHERE U CAME FROM!👏👏👏👏💕💞💋I'M IN TOTAL SHOCK GOD LORD PROUD

Yes beautiful 😍❤️ love this song 💗
This is one of my favorite songs, of all time...BILLY RAY IS NOT A ONE HIT WONDER....
No one said he was. Or did they?
@@SteveFrenchWoodNStuff He has been called a One Hit Wonder several times.
Billy Ray had several Good Hits this is one of them trailer of Tears
I don't think Cyrus get a good deal anybody puts out that much effort can't be all bad
@@keithaltevogt3238 BRC had many hits but not nearly enough that he deserved. He is my favorite artist in any genre of music.
People can say what they want to about him, but he got a raw deal and really has awesome music, love the real Billy Ray, you will to.

Thank you Billy for making this song a reality much love to you for speaking out----------Cat spirit (Lakota Sioux)
THIS BLOKE IS AWSOME EASY AS WHAT HE DONE FOR COUNTRY MUSIC ESPECIALLY IN ENGLAND WAS AMAZING LOVE HIM
I know how they felt, I was raised a Cherokee and am a Cherokee. My dad was full blooded
Gentlemen, before, excuse this is by translator. This song goes right in the foot. Great, fine. Finally again Honest rock. My greetings from Germany/Cologne
I think this is my song. Love this one. 🥲
Billy Ray, you should rerelease this. The sound (mandolin, beat, down home feel) seems pretty popular now. People who didn't get to hear it back then could hear and enjoy it now. Maybe just accentuate the beat more, as that seems like a popular thing to do now, too. This maybe my favorite of all your songs. 👍
+Jason Rowsey this was released back in the 1990s and was quite popular
@@DanSmith-ok2vm it was actually a flop. It was a shame cause it should've been #1. Had Johnny Cash sang it it would have been #1 for weeks
Dios nos mande a Biilly Ray Cyrus mil veces para disfrutar de su música, gracias!

one of the best bluegrass songs ever
Trail of Tears is a very sad message, but an Excellent song. My heart BLEEDS for our Native Americans. They are the ONLY race of people that don’t BITCH about EVERYTHING!! They have all rights to complain. But they don’t. All other races and women and men do. Enough complaining to last a million years!! I’m sick to DEATH!!! Of it!!

Love the video
Back when Billy Ray first released this song, he made mention in several interviews that this song was written partly to honor his Cherokee ancestry (among Irish and several others), of which he is very proud. He also showed off a tipi he had erected behind his Tennessee mansion which his wife, in the interview, jokingly revealed that he spent more time in than the house. He also revealed that his Cherokee name is "Hawk Flying". He immediately seemed flustered and said that he wasn't sure it was 'allowed' to reveal your Native name to others.
Though his intentions may have been good, he is not a cherokee nor is he descended from our people. Cherokees are a well documented tribes with records going back to the 1600s. Very accurate rolls where taken of Cherokee populations in the early 1900s as well from which we base our citizenship. The best genealogists among our tribe have extensively researched the ancestry of Billy ray Cyrus and his ancestors where never located in Cherokee nation until after our forced removal.
He’s full of shit ...hawk flying ... lol ..reminds me of step brothers. You have to call me dragon and you have to call me nighthawk....billy billy come on now.
Billy Ray never claimed to be a Cherokee. He has said however he believes Native blood runs somewhere down his family line.
Acha braking heart
That is a kewl story about his tee pee, and his NDN name
Keep doing your thing, Billy......AWESOME !!!!!!

great song by a wonderful singer... , but I am convinced that no one ever took their souls , not then , not now, not ever.. You are the brave , the one and only true and beautiful human being.
If that Eye-In-The-Sky gave me a chance to do over I'd be a farmer & forget the daily happenings of our current world... & return as salt of the Earth...
One of his best songs!
Thank you for singing a bad ass song like this
Billy Ray always delivers the classics.

Foster How are you doing today? Its really nice having you on here .. I saw your profile on here and i think we definitely are on the same page on many levels. Trust, communication, loving, honoring, understanding, patience and respecting your partner. So crucial to provide balance. This is what creates such great chemistry between two people that are committed to one another.
Omg I loooove him, he's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Billy tells the truth in many if his songs about this land
Суперр👍👍👍 Беларусь 🇧🇾 слушает Кантри 👍👍👍🍀😁
he has other hits even videos that made it to top 10, top 5 and #1... to this day he is my favorite singer. 12-13 albums later to this day he still rocks.
Amen brother!
Best sounds ..A lovely tribute to the Trail Of Tears and what was endured by the Native Americans ..A very sad chapter in American History..
Shirley Allmon you mean white history.
Not a tribute to the Trail of tears, unless you think it was a good thing the Yankees did!
Daniel Johnson Might wanna dig a little deeper. The war had nothing to do with freeing slaves. They simply used slavery as justification. Don't take my word for it. Dig deeper.
MR illumination, the white people, the “Invaders” were NOT the ONLY “race” to have CHOSEN to have had black, greedy, evil hearts against MY ANCESTOR, The First Nations, The Original Peoples. EVER heard of “buffalo soldiers”? These “buffalo soldiers”, during The Plains Indian Wars, CHOSE to be JUST AS EVIL as the white people were to MY ANCESTORS. Since Hell will NEVER freeze over, I will NEVER, EVER apologize for my comment😊. wado,Ann Benson.
I always loved this song as us native Americans our names has a meaning to it
Great show last year, thanks!! 🔥🔥🔥 I need another Billy Ray Cyrus concert.. soon! It’s been to long.
Always loved this song!!!! His best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Billy Cyrus has always been under rated Because when he comes out with something new they say it's to country and I don't know what they mean by that all his music is really beautiful

They say old billy wouldn’t play their game so they gave him the shaft.
Im part Cherokee Indian , my great great grandfather was a Chief.
Because of the trail of tear's he is buried in Tennessee.
Im doing good, and yourself?

This is one song from Billy Ray that I will never be sick of hearing. God bless him always!!! Holly in east TN (almost age ten when "Achy Breaky Heart" went to radio)
