In most cases that's true but like he said you cannot lie on your education for jobs that require a license. Like a doctor you need an education and a license to practice as a doctor. You can go and lie and then work as a doctor if they don't find out but the moment you kill a patient by malpractice you can get a sentence as bad as murder. Plus charges on impersonation of a doctor. So, anything that requires a license you can get into legal trouble and any job that is federal you can get in trouble with lying. Other than that you can lie and if they find out they can fire you and you won't get unemployment. They can sue you but that depends on a type of job and how much of a fuck up you caused them to lose money.

@@bebdaumon3948i mean. Sure. But come on. I am a business student. And if I say I was an intern at Deloitte while never being one and I am looking for a consultant job. Who will care? Same with lying about the time you worked.

So it's also fraud for a company to post job postings for roles they never intend to fill? Why are you saying that you can be sued, when companies are never sued for misleading job postings?

I just gave up last night. My only hope now is joining a union or a city job. Screw these private companies. My sister went from a valvoline employee to grocery store worker to union electrician apprentice first year no experience at 38 an hour starting. I have no idea why unions pay so much but they do get trained good. My factory needed to get a chiller fixed last night. The techs did not know how to do it. They called local 38 hvac and plumbing union and he fixed it. I talked to him and I was like you know what that’s going to be my next job. Applying to the hall next week. The training at my factory won’t help me reach the next level.

Dangg that’s a really good starting pay. Im glad that you havent completely given up on your job search yet because you are still looking into another job option. I hope you get in it too like your sister and that everything goes well. I wish you the best!

Ya I had the same experience, these hiring manager rather get lied to than hearing the truth lmao. Even if you got let go and its not your fault, they get turned off thinking something wrong with you. They all out of touch.

Bro they are not going to arrest or sue you (at least in the United States) they’ll just throw your resume in the trash and reject you or fire you if you end up getting the job before they find out…neither of which are good but they aren’t going to throw you in jail or sue you 😂

when I had a long gap i would just stretch the duration of my last job a few months and I said i was freelance/contract video editing during the rest of the gap. i technically did do editing during that time but it was just a hobby lol ;) you can do that with a lot of leisure activities that have transferable tech skills like 3d modeling, programming, photography etc
(Edit: just got to the part of the video where he says not to say you freelance; in my experience when interviewers asked about why i wanted to switch from freelancing id say that marketing myself to find work took more hassle and time than i preferred and at this stage id rather focus on adding value to an established company than continue to try building my own business. they seemed to like that answer and ive been working a good IT job for the last year but hey, ymmv.)

Basically everyone else is lying. If you want to tell the truth, unfortunately it only benefits you in the eyes of God. Not in this world.
