last time I saw something so interesting in SE was an old thread from forever ago before the planets update... person spent over 20 hours just exploring the endless space and logging their distance, journey, and feelings on the search for a planet in an RP style... think the theme was "last crew member searching for a home" or the like. Was rather cool, and the guy got to about 500km or so after the first few days; of course the blog stopped after a bit, either due to life running its course or them forgetting to give it a grand finale when planets were added.
Deleting everything, including GPS really is brutal, but you like the increased challenge. You turned Space Engineers into a rogue lite, because you keep the money at least. Will be fun to see a developed base getting raided by reapers that get a lucky shot on a survival kit. Guess you will need several backup of those to prevent losing a run due to a single rocket sneaking through. About the prototech encounters, afaik they are despawned after 2 hours, due to the new claim mechanic. So no need to delete them yourself, since they simply spawn another one after you deleted it. At least that's what I gathered by deleting them. Unless something does glitch out, as it can happen with regular unknown signals, while you log out and back in.
This was a masterpiece of a pilot. An emotional roller coaster till the very end. I hope it gets greenlit. I 100% want to see what happens next. I think the asteroid base is not just unique, but it seems like your destiny the way it appeared in your darkest hour to save you. As you drifted aimlessly towards certain respawn, you found your own tortuga. Maybe suit only 2 electric boogaloo could be heavily space centric. You dont need no planet. Maybe a little planet as a treat but asteroid base shipyard sounds awesome. Well done both of you.
Yes, please do a season 2. I can't wait. Also now that the main twist for this series is mostly over since you have a survival kit and tools. Maybe you could introduce certain challenges or quests for each episode. I haven't seen it done before but if it works it might be interesting.
You should search under the mattresses in the vanilla economy stations. You can sometimes find loose space credits in beds. Tools, weapons, and ammo can sometimes be found in the lockers and armories.
Yes we want more. That asteroid is a nice start to a base. Taking apart the salvage beacon stuff will give you enough parts to have both a base and build a little shuttle like thing so you can go down to the moon and check out that wreck. Pirating pirates is totally cool but I hope on this attempt you keep it to that. Leave the civil factions alone and best of luck. Great start man.
I hope this is going to be a space centered series where you chomp down ships and astroids instead of going into orbit (also glad to see magic and his space safe lower body)
I’m so happy Space Engineers is back, and I personally like the lens flare indicator, I remember in the first series you’d say you saw something and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out what. And as some others have said here, I think having a space-based series would be fun, maybe you could hollow out an asteroid and use it as a base once you have proper mining capability, cuz we’ve had an earth series and a moon series already

Suggested sub-goals. - Make your asteroid mobile - Mine asteroids with your asteroid -build your shipyard's superstructure from salvage, missions, and mining ("Salvage" being free-floating wreckage unaffiliated with a faction or ships you destroy via legal means(No piracy)) - Build a docking system from asteroid to shipyard - Point-defense laser system - "Battle Moon" (weaponize asteroid with tons of concealable weaponry)
Some traders will sometimes sell hydrogen and empty bottles. Not sure if you need to have a tank connected to the station or if it can be bought directly into a bottle but that's technically another option for getting hydrogen.

I think it would be pretty interesting to see just how HORRIBLY AWESOME it would be as waves of Haveloc (or Havenots) come by to blow your asteroid to rubble unless you can get your defenses up. May you have the MERRIEST of CHRISTMASES! The HAPPIEST of HANNUKAHS! The MOST JOYEST of KWANZAA'AS!!! Or just a great day in general!! And of course, a fortuitous and blessed NEW YEAR!!!

You can ONLY steal (the spirit of giving is upon us) from Pirates and the occasional unknown green signal satellites that pop in every now and then. I can imagine SWARMS of Pirates buzzing your base as you try to build defenses to ward them off. I think it would be EXPLOSIVE!!! I'm really curious, what mod adds in the lens flares?! That seems super useful. Also: fun idea for another challenge run. Look into the AQD Research mod (with the AQD Vanilla Research Tree - Updated tech tree for DLC blocks), and use it along side Vanilla Ore Distribution, Suit Up!, and No Free Energy Those mods combined have given me a real heck'n doozy of a challenge, because to get into T3 research (where jump-drives, reactors, cryo, yield modules, and other very useful large grid blocks exist), you need a steady supply of Gold and Silver (as well as Magnesium, Cobalt, Silicon, and Iron) to do the researches, but to get Gold, you either have to salvage/loot/buy it, or make it to the moon to mine it. Oh did I mention that you don't get your first enclosed space-suit until _after_ you've gotten silver? Which is only available on the moon and asteroids! And the vanilla suit is locked behind platinum, and you don't get that until Mars. And the end of the challenge for research is a supply of Uranium and Platinum (and gold, and all previous resources) to get T4 research, which is where you finally unlock gravity generators, O2 generators (the passive ones), Ion thrusters, and a few other end game items. Currently there's no prototech tech-tree stuff, but if I knew anything about modding i'd add in a 5th tier and set up the tech tree on that one too. Love the content, hopefully I can help spur on a few additional ideas for content in the future :D
I would love to see a suit less survival, where you start on earth near an outpost that purchases ores or components, and only have a grinder/drill. All building must be done in an oxygenated environment since you would not have a suit.

a thing you can do is make a small vessel with a hydrogen storage, and buy hydrogen from stations after connecting yourself to it !!! only requires some steel tubes/basic components for the connector + tank storage !
prototech encounters have a timet to expire like the unknown signals, just longer.. more will come... i love how in the very first section you commented on your lack of power but next cut shows you have more, but didnt say how you got it
3:25 there's already a realistic orbit mod on the workshop. It's called Real Orbits by Echthros, and basically adds KSP levels of orbital mechanics to Space Engineers. Edit: There's also a newly released Solar System mod that combos all the things like Real Gas Giants and Stars, and a Template for the Solar System. The planets and moons all do correct orbits... suprisingly.

hey i dont know if you mentioned it and just aren't using them or if you even looked and it just got cut out but stations tend to have spare tools and random things like power kits scattered all over like inside desk chairs and in lockers that might help get some starting tools besides waiting for signals
you could buy components from stations when missing some specific stuff, and also just build on the batteries themlselves :') ? edit : nvm you did mention it after a long time of struggles :')
Piracy is the main reason i dont play space engineers anymore. Its overpowered. So much it makes the game boring. The whole work you have to do, all the engineering and creativity to get and have anything, it all can be replaced with piracy. Just steal it, and skip the whole game. And this challenge too. Was solved with piracy, thank you for watching, challenge over, now its just a standard playthrough

"Real Orbits" and "Star System (Real Orbits ready)" are the two mods you want for orbital mechanics.
Can they be added after the fact? Or is that going to require a restart?

You should try space engineers survival with real orbits, aerodynamics, and water mod to add some realism (and a bit of a challenge)
There actually is a mod that adds actual orbits already. It's called Real Orbits. Best used with Real Solar Systems.

I want to see more suit only survival turned piracy. Return of the unfit for purpose please.
Piracy is the main reason i dont play space engineers anymore. Its overpowered. So much it makes the game boring. The whole work you have to do, all the engineering and creativity to get and have anything, it all can be replaced with piracy. Just steal it, and skip the whole game.
