I completely agree, Fable 2 and 3 were some of my favourite games because of how young I was when playing them. Going back and replaying them is an amazing nostalgic feeling. But if I was more competent and older when these were released I would have probably had the same reaction to them. Edit: I still love Fable 2 and it's still one of my favourite games

The GameAddict 56: Invisible walls weren't just annoying, they were a hindrance. I know exactly where the last green flower is out in the desert, but it's on the edge of an invisible wall, and I never got juuuuust the right angle to interact with it. 57: Interactions were impossible to fail. They seemed a tacked on nod to the gargoyles from 2, but the difference is that finding the gargoyles was fun, because you could explore. The narrow, almost rail-like world you're in makes exploring tedious, so hunting gnomes is a pain. In fact, 60: ALL of the collectible hunting, be it gnomes, keys, flowers, or whatever. You're just amazed to find a way back to that 3 foot square of grass that you should be able to walk to easily, let alone FIND something there.

Honestly really enjoy fable, I remember being little and saving up to $500, 000 spamming pies. My brother was like dude buy houses and stores, managed to beat the game with the best ending by accident because of pies.

It’s crazy. I agreed with Joe’s review back in the day, mostly due to the sanctuary probably, yet I feel this game still has a hold on me so many years later. Maybe the music? Maybe the atmosphere? Maybe it just depends where you are in life? Either way, the game is memorable for me.
I still agree with his review. I like the the game for a few reasons. One being simply the lore and nostalgia. Also, the decision making in this game makes it really unique. I personally really enjoy idle games too (ik lame) so the slow building landlord/business owner system in the game is really fun for me too.

I contend to this day that the ECONOMICS of Fable 3's kingdom choices is actually secretly brilliant. It's super realistic that you can only be a beloved ruler if you have enough cold hard cash to pay for your peoples amenities. Actually ruling kingdoms isn't about making deep philosophical and meaningful choices... its about doing what you can pay for.

Wow, all those reasons and Joe actually MISSED one of the most insulting parts of the game; When you are preparing for the final battle as king, the days during your rule go by completely randomly. You could pass a week or two by moving on to the next segment, or it would pass by OVER A HUNDRED FUCKING DAYS (and this is a LOW estimate, I forget exactly how many it was). The worst part about this was that the sequence that passed over a hundred days instantly led to the FINAL BATTLE. You had absolutely NO way to know that you would be thrust into the battle for your kingdom.. This also adds to the feeling of incompleteness, as there is NO explanation of why that much time had passed without you being able to do a single thing. It's like you fall asleep for half a year during the most important part of the game... that would have been one of thet disappointing moments I've ever had playing a game if I weren't so displeased with everything else Joe mentioned.

I love the game as well, for its lore, atmospheres, and music. It's very nostalgic for me and I still enjoy playing the game, but there are for sure legitimate criticisms to be had. The game was far too easy and gameplay was simplistic and not intuitive enough. Guns and magic were so ridiculously overpowered. The game also should've been a bit longer and side quests more fleshed out. The developers were a bit heavy handed with the amount of pointless DLC... the worst thing was not being able to get all the weapons and clothes within your own game (for the achievements) that was really shitty... and you gotta admit the map interface was pretty damn frustrating.

I love fable 2 and hate fable 3. Fable 3 completely throws out Strength Skill and Will. You can't get a better health level heck you can't even see it. And lastly It doesn't even explain what the Crawler is or what he wants until Fable The Journey when we found out he's part of some shadow, darkness group who came because of the Spire being built.
I played it and thought it wasn't the best over world game. It was meh in my opinion. I like the Mass Effect series much better. In fact, Mass Effect 2 is one of my favorite games ever! But this... Just no. It's not good, but I wouldn't call it one of the worst games ever.

Yep, I personally preferred Oblivion's stat system and inventory system. RIP Vampire Athletics - Acrobatics - No Combat Skills - Dracula who jumped to the top of buildings with one press of a key, and did like negative damage on attacks but just danced perpetually out of range of all attacks.
It's actually pretty fun to look at Skyrim and Fable 3. Both have tried to appeal broader by streamlining, but only one of them have done it somewhat successfully. Skyrim for all it's flaws made what was a pretty knowledge-heavy leveling system into a coherent process (while adding perks to keep the min-max'ers somewhat happy) while retaining fun game play and exploration. Fable just kept cutting random things away while adding nonsensical bullshit to hide the fact that it isn't really a game at all xD
Don't let reson #1 stop you. I thought the sanctuary would be unuseable but it's actually not bad. It takes 10 seconds tops to grab any one specific thing and leave, or 3 seconds to get to the map. You don't swap equipment often enough for it to matter. The only real mistake w/ the sanctuary is that they removed ALL menus for it, but it's everything else in this game that makes Fable 3 bad. There's still 20-25 hours of content if you only count the main quest + side quests worth doing (most suck). If you know this game is flawed but enjoyed the first two, then buy it for $3 usd like I did. Fable 3 can be enjoyed when your expectations are low.

Actually Microsoft maintained the rights for Fable even after several offers were made; A typical mark that they intend to do something with it. I wouldn't be surprised if come 2020 a trailer for Fable 4 or a Fable Prequel came out utilizing nostalgia and a new engine to capitalize on it's former fame. After all, in 2004 this was a BIG thing.
As long as it a proper Fable game and not like the latest first person game. Fable is one of the best roleplay games around, even now since I have not found many games that is anywhere near it. You have Dragon Age and Skyrim but what else is there? A lot of roleplay games look like a mobile game that you play whilst waiting for the bus or a meeting.

Reason No. 33: Being "Monarch" is useless. Through the Game, I was excited to be king, especially as it was hyped through the game. Asking decisions that would alter the lives of your subjects over the course of a year in subtle and significant ways...boy was I wrong! The petition system in The Sims: Medieval was better than this! The only thing you're able to do is make a single decision which affects a single area, then you can do nothing more. And all the people will love or hate you for it, thus there's no middle ground. Had they got this right, I could probably have forgiven the game for more of its faults. BULLSHIT!!!
More than useless : it sucks ! After you become a king, you get invulnerability from all the NPCs... you can kill who you want and nothing happens, steal what you whant and so on... The game just gats more boring ate the end !!
I was hoping that when I was monarch I would have so much fun, I’d get to go back and end the darkness, reopen the library, stop reaver but even though you could do all those things it didn’t live up to expectations. You shouldn’t have just sat up on a throne. These things should have been quests. After the main plot is over the only difference is the fact that you can get away with any crime, everyone calls you a king and you live in a castle.
When I was a teenager, I loved fable 2. Fable 3 was announced, and I was so damn excited.....I played it, beat it...and just felt like a lot of the game was missing something. What it missed was cosmetics and things to upgrade, seeing as you become king there should have been more things to do maybe even pay for upgrades on your army or more of those meeting things

Everybody gets so upset over how this game is "not enjoyable". I personally loved this game. I thought the only time it got boring was when there was no other quests to complete. But then again I do that with every game that focuses on quests. I feel that it is the same argument about the older and newer Fallout. Half is true, the other half is nostalgia. I also think that if you have trouble with melee, then get a better weapon.

I remember I played Fable 3 when I first got my Xbox 360 all those years ago. I played through the whole game twice and then I played it a third time in co-op with my sister and finished it. I never realised how many problems the game had at the time and watched this video heaps of times just laughing. But I wouldn't trade anything for the fun and memories I have of playing Fable 3 with her.
My main problem with the game is the two separate endings. Spoilers to everyone who reads this: If you choose the good ending, you save Albion but most of the population is wiped out. Or, if you choose the bad ending, you save Albion, everyone survives but they all hate you. What's the sense in that? Bask in your glory of being good to no one or save everyone and you are hated.
So then drop it right after, they only hate you so long as rent is high, they love you right away as soon as you drop the rate like they all have amnesia and don't remember anything before that.
I know another reason. The DRM on the PC version made it unplayable once games for windows live shut down. The only way to play it now is to use game pass.
Fable 3 was very flawed but overall a great experience. I played this game for MONTHS when I was younger. It had maney flaws and going through about 15 differnt character ive experienced every bug you could imagine but overall many of the friends and experiences i had were good. I miss 2010 to 2013, so much more simpler times.
I found one more thing to add to this list. The storyline is just riddled with holes. For instance, after you become King/Queen, Paige is still hiding underground in the rebel HQ. Why would she still need to hide underground? Logan was dethroned and out of the way, and presuming that you ruled justly there was no more need for a resistance. I suppose it makes sence that she might reform the resistance if you choose the way of the Monarch, but if that's that case,why keep it in the same place as before? That's really stupid. You the King/Queen know exactly where the headquarters is located and know exactly how to get in. She can be easily silenced.
Not to mention when you're a evil king/queen you can have them all be put away if you wanted to. Yeah... this game story isn't perfect. I still love Fable 3

THINK THATS BAD? do it for EVERY OTHER TOWN YOU HAVE HOUSES IN. hey, got a quick question. a simple one. you wanna hear it? ooookay, here it comes... YOU THINK THAAAASTS BAAAAADHGCYVDHCTCG??!! THERE IS NO QUICK SELECT OPTION. YOU HAVE TO PAINSTAKINGLY DO IT FOR EVERY SINGLE FUCKING HOUSE, IN EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TOWN, EVERY SINGLE FUCKING HOUR. Honestly this game wasn't terrible, but I couldn't play it a second time. The story's all right, but the gamplay sucked. What killed it most for me was character interactions.

I know exactly where the last green flower is out in the desert, but it's on the edge of an invisible wall, and I never got juuuuust the right angle to interact with it. 57: Interactions were impossible to fail. Wanna do good? Hold the button down longer. As long as you want, and let go anytime. You wont vurp on a burp or soil your pants on a fart. IT DOESN'T MATTER. 58: The guitar hero style performance of the jobs available. Maybe when they started designing the game those games were in fashion but they had well and truly begun to fade by the time this game came out. 59: The gnomes. They seemed a tacked on nod to the gargoyles from 2, but the difference is that finding the gargoyles was fun, because you could explore. The narrow, almost rail-like world you're in makes exploring tedious, so hunting gnomes is a pain. In fact, 60: ALL of the collectible hunting, be it gnomes, keys, flowers, or whatever. You're just amazed to find a way back to that 3 foot square of grass that you should be able to walk to easily, let alone FIND something there.

Honestly really enjoy fable, I remember being little and saving up to $500, 000 spamming pies. My brother was like dude buy houses and stores, managed to beat the game with the best ending by accident because of pies.

It’s crazy. I agreed with Joe’s review back in the day, mostly due to the sanctuary probably, yet I feel this game still has a hold on me so many years later. Maybe the music? Maybe the atmosphere? Maybe it just depends where you are in life? Either way, the game is memorable for me.
I still agree with his review. I like the the game for a few reasons. One being simply the lore and nostalgia. Also, the decision making in this game makes it really unique. I personally really enjoy idle games too (ik lame) so the slow building landlord/business owner system in the game is really fun for me too.

I contend to this day that the ECONOMICS of Fable 3's kingdom choices is actually secretly brilliant. It's super realistic that you can only be a beloved ruler if you have enough cold hard cash to pay for your peoples amenities. Actually ruling kingdoms isn't about making deep philosophical and meaningful choices... its about doing what you can pay for.

Wow, all those reasons and Joe actually MISSED one of the most insulting parts of the game; When you are preparing for the final battle as king, the days during your rule go by completely randomly. You could pass a week or two by moving on to the next segment, or it would pass by OVER A HUNDRED FUCKING DAYS (and this is a LOW estimate, I forget exactly how many it was).
The worst part about this was that the sequence that passed over a hundred days instantly led to the FINAL BATTLE. You had absolutely NO way to know that you would be thrust into the battle for your kingdom.. This also adds to the feeling of incompleteness, as there is NO explanation of why that much time had passed without you being able to do a single thing. It's like you fall asleep for half a year during the most important part of the game... that would have been one of thet disappointing moments I've ever had playing a game if I weren't so displeased with everything else Joe mentioned.

I love the game as well, for its lore, atmospheres, and music. It's very nostalgic for me and I still enjoy playing the game, but there are for sure legitimate criticisms to be had. The game was far too easy and gameplay was simplistic and not intuitive enough. Guns and magic were so ridiculously overpowered. The game also should've been a bit longer and side quests more fleshed out. The developers were a bit heavy handed with the amount of pointless DLC... the worst thing was not being able to get all the weapons and clothes within your own game (for the achievements) that was really shitty... and you gotta admit the map interface was pretty damn frustrating.

I love fable 2 and hate fable 3. Fable 3 completely throws out Strength Skill and Will. You can't get a better health level heck you can't even see it. And lastly It doesn't even explain what the Crawler is or what he wants until Fable The Journey when we found out he's part of some shadow, darkness group who came because of the Spire being built.

RIP Vampire Athletics - Acrobatics - No Combat Skills - Dracula who jumped to the top of buildings with one press of a key, and did like negative damage on attacks but just danced perpetually out of range of all attacks.
Resurgence Of The Shadow Dragons oblivion was so much more cluttered and disorganized. It wasn't bad but compared to how simplistic skyrim was...
It's actually pretty fun to look at Skyrim and Fable 3. Both have tried to appeal broader by streamlining, but only one of them have done it somewhat successfully.
Skyrim for all it's flaws made what was a pretty knowledge-heavy leveling system into a coherent process (while adding perks to keep the min-max'ers somewhat happy) while retaining fun game play and exploration.
Fable just kept cutting random things away while adding nonsensical bullshit to hide the fact that it isn't really a game at all xD

Don't let reson #1 stop you. I thought the sanctuary would be unuseable but it's actually not bad. It takes 10 seconds tops to grab any one specific thing and leave, or 3 seconds to get to the map. You don't swap equipment often enough for it to matter.
The only real mistake w/ the sanctuary is that they removed ALL menus for it, but it's everything else in this game that makes Fable 3 bad. There's still 20-25 hours of content if you only count the main quest + side quests worth doing (most suck).
If you know this game is flawed but enjoyed the first two, then buy it for $3 usd like I did. Fable 3 can be enjoyed when your expectations are low.

I wouldn't be surprised if come 2020 a trailer for Fable 4 or a Fable Prequel came out utilizing nostalgia and a new engine to capitalize on it's former fame. After all, in 2004 this was a BIG thing.
As long as it a proper Fable game and not like the latest first person game. Fable is one of the best roleplay games around, even now since I have not found many games that is anywhere near it. You have Dragon Age and Skyrim but what else is there? A lot of roleplay games look like a mobile game that you play whilst waiting for the bus or a meeting.

Through the Game, I was excited to be king, especially as it was hyped through the game. Asking decisions that would alter the lives of your subjects over the course of a year in subtle and significant ways...boy was I wrong!
The petition system in The Sims: Medieval was better than this!
The only thing you're able to do is make a single decision which affects a single area, then you can do nothing more. And all the people will love or hate you for it, thus there's no middle ground.

After you become a king, you get invulnerability from all the NPCs... you can kill who you want and nothing happens, steal what you whant and so on... The game just gats more boring ate the end !!
I was hoping that when I was monarch I would have so much fun, I’d get to go back and end the darkness, reopen the library, stop reaver but even though you could do all those things it didn’t live up to expectations. You shouldn’t have just sat up on a throne. These things should have been quests. After the main plot is over the only difference is the fact that you can get away with any crime, everyone calls you a king and you live in a castle.

When I was a teenager, I loved fable 2. Fable 3 was announced, and I was so damn excited.....I played it, beat it...and just felt like a lot of the game was missing something. I couldn’t figure it out at the time as a dummy teenager. Yes I’m commenting years later, but I’m an adult now. This game really did blow hard. Feels more like a cash grab no than a sequel
What it missed was cosmetics and things to upgrade, seeing as you become king there should have been more things to do maybe even pay for upgrades on your army or more of those meeting things

Everybody gets so upset over how this game is "not enjoyable". I personally loved this game. I thought the only time it got boring was when there was no other quests to complete. But then again I do that with every game that focuses on quests. I feel that it is the same argument about the older and newer Fallout. Half is true, the other half is nostalgia. I also think that if you have trouble with melee, then get a better weapon.

I remember I played Fable 3 when I first got my Xbox 360 all those years ago. I played through the whole game twice and then I played it a third time in co-op with my sister and finished it. I never realised how many problems the game had at the time and watched this video heaps of times just laughing. But I wouldn't trade anything for the fun and memories I have of playing Fable 3 with her.

My main problem with the game is the two separate endings. Spoilers to everyone who reads this: If you choose the good ending, you save Albion but most of the population is wiped out. Or, if you choose the bad ending, you save Albion, everyone survives but they all hate you. What's the sense in that? Bask in your glory of being good to no one or save everyone and you are hated.

I know another reason. The DRM on the PC version made it unplayable once games for windows live shut down. The only way to play it now is to use game pass.
Fable 3 was very flawed but overall a great experience. I played this game for MONTHS when I was younger. It had maney flaws and going through about 15 differnt character ive experienced every bug you could imagine but overall many of the friends and experiences i had were good. I miss 2010 to 2013, so much more simpler times.

I found one more thing to add to this list. The storyline is just riddled with holes. For instance, after you become King/Queen, Paige is still hiding underground in the rebel HQ. Why would she still need to hide underground? Logan was dethroned and out of the way, and presuming that you ruled justly there was no more need for a resistance. I suppose it makes sence that she might reform the resistance if you choose the way of the Monarch, but if that's that case,why keep it in the same place as before? That's really stupid. You the King/Queen know exactly where the headquarters is located and know exactly how to get in. She can be easily silenced.
Not to mention when you're a evil king/queen you can have them all be put away if you wanted to.

+Simming Adena yeah i would also recommend you to avoid the 3rd. the second really is the best one. i finished the second and got the 3rd. it was alright at SOME parts but angry joe really is right about these problems. they are CONSTANTLY THERE. and it really takes you out of the immersion. for example, heres a HUGE problem he missed: the real estate. as you buy more houses, you have to constantly repair them every hour using the same money they give you. think thats bad enough? you have to go to the menu/santurary, go to the map, go to the town, go to the house you want to look at, zoom in, and THEN repair. think THATS bad? zoom out, go to the next house, zoom in and repair. rinse and repeat through every house in town. THINK THATS BAD? do it for EVERY OTHER TOWN YOU HAVE HOUSES IN.

My biggest problem in Fable 3, hours of waiting and wondering "when am I going to fight a troll?", AND IT NEVER HAPPENS.
In fable 3 there was a hammer commissioned by Logan called “trollblight” and it made and used to exterminate every troll in Albion.
