That 6800M is shockingly good. The chassis is surprisingly thin, but also surprisingly deep due that hinge design and extra buttons. I'm not sure that's a very worthwhile trade, the footprint is probably not *that* far away from an 17/18 inch one.
Full RGB coverage and smart specs (16:10, 1440p) makes the screen is perfectly competent, but I wouldn't say great due the average brightness levels. They seem to be fairly uniform, and don't dip bellow 300, but they also aren't packing the 500/600 nit screens competitors can shove on these notebooks these days. To say nothing of mini-LED and OLED stuff.
No wonder it's the best keyboard you've ever tested if it has actual Cherry switches. Ain't simply no way any other notebooks can possibly compete with that.
Less battery life than I expected from the specs.
Connectivity is a bad, tho. 4 USBs, headphone and SD card? No HDMI? No ethernet port, on a streamer-focused machine? It's bigger than all its competitors! There is space, where are the ports?
However, what really sticks to me is the price. The second-tier configuration with 16 GB of RAM, 6800H and 1 TB of SSD is *one thousand euros cheaper*. What?
And on top of that, the Lenovo 7 with a 6850M is in every way faster, has a better screen, has a solid 25% more battery life on light load, and *also* costs a thousand fewer euros for the top-spec than this one.
Do I think the 6850M Legion 7 is, on the whole, unbeatable within its generation? Fair enough, I do. Clean aesthetic, built like the typical Lenovo tank, a ton of high-speed ports, seven hours of battery life on light use, trades blows with a 3080 Ti on the GPU side, thin and light enough to confortably carry... It's got it all.
But if the Corsair were competitively priced against it, I wouldn't complain too much. The keyboard is outstanding, and there is merit to the whole system integration stuff, and fair enough, it looks nice. I can see it selling a bunch on name alone.
I'd have expected a big name like Corsair to put out much, much more competitively priced product for their debut in the market. As is, you'd have to knock a good five or six hundred from the cheaper model, and a good thousand euros from this most expensive one, just to mach the competition.

I also think they have to revisit their pricing. But I could imagine this being their first device they did not make millions of them. Just rather a premium product in lower quantities to "scout" the market.

@@NotebookcheckReviews Fair enough, it does have a boutique look to it. Not bad for something that, say, they might give away in sponsorship deals either- it performs well enough to not sour the deal, and its expensive enough to make for a catchy headline too.

I am not sure that this was their reasoning, but who knows. I didn’t see it from that perspective!
Let’s see what they do with it this year. I am sure they will „re-use“ the chassis and update the internals. Maybe they will decrease the price if they know they might sell more …

  • @alphamenzz

If you compare the 3070 laptop GPU's with the 4070 laptop GPUs the difference is really with the pixel generation. I would also go as far as to say that the 3000 series GPU could do frame generation but Nvidia locked it through software. I would not be surprised if later on down the year if NVIDA will give the 3000 series frame generation. But the GPU results are amazing for this 6800. This will be an interesting year. However for those who are still using the 3000 series machines, I would cringe to call a 4000 series machine as an upgrade.

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

The 4070 definitely seems to be the weakest one in the 40 series line-up. We will have to see how it fares when we tested more variants at different wattages.
The 4080 might be the sweetspot if you are in the market for a new gaming laptop this year.
Let’s see what happen to last-gen prices and what AMD can bring to the table.
And yes, the 6800M is a proper unit! To bass they aren’t more laptops with it!

@@love2k380 If you are going to go with a 3000 series card, I would definitely recommend going with a 3070 as a bare minimum. This is because the 3060 and below has already been knocked down from a class 1 to a class 2 tier card after the introduction of the 4000 series.
The 3070 is still a class 1 card.
It has been said on multiple forums and youtuber's like dave2d, jarrodstech etc, that when it comes to 3000 series cards, the 3070 is the sweet spot and somewhat future proof over the 3060. Lo behold, after the arrival of the new bloods, it still tangos with the best of em. I hope I have given you insight in to this matter.
You should be looking for something to the tune of $800 - $1,000 for a 3070 or 3070 Ti card if you can. That would be a better deal than a $650 machine that gives you class 3 performance and worse as time goes forward.

@@NotebookcheckReviews it just doesn't solve any problem. It creates even more. In some games even if u can change to 16:10 u still have loading screen 16:9 in valorant, cinematic sequences in hogwarts legacy and so on.
The 16:10 just makes u suffer by looking at the awful ips back light bleeding in most games.
I returned the Asus Rog Strix Scar 18 bc of that and ordered the 17 inch modeln.

Not quite sure why: 3DMark perf rating in this video, the gap b/w Blade 18 (4080) & Triton 500SE (3080Ti) is only 5%, but in M16 review the gap b/w Blade 16 (4080) & Triton 500SE (3080Ti) is 29%. does that mean Blade 18 is actually slower than Blade 16? Or maybe different power mode?

Damn...this would've been my pick, as Im currently gaming laptop shopping, but the middling screen specs unfortunately kill it for me. Kind of sucks because only other alternatives are all Nivida 4070 mobile models, which have poor 1% lows due to lack of VRAM.

Not bad, but some questionable missteps: pitch of fans is very annoying, surface and bottom temps bit too high, battery life kinda low for using AMD, and the usual: Speakers suck and screen should have been brighter & higher contrast.

I purchased this laptop and really liked the build quality but could not get past the extremely loud keyboard. I have a custom mechanical keyboard and honestly a laptop keyboard will never come close that experience. So for me I prefer a decent laptop keyboard that does not disturb everyone around me as I will want to use it in a public setting. Imagine getting kicked out of a library because your mediocre but extremely loud keyboard is a nuisance.
