The reason for having the option to disable the right side of the trackpad is the same reason why trackpads in general are often placed further left nowadays. It's so your hand can pivot from trackpad to keyboard more comfortably without moving your elbow. If the right side of the trackpad is disabled, there's less of a chance of hitting it with the palm of your hand during the movement. That's if your right-handed of course. If you're left-handed, everyone hates you and we all want to make your life harder. Go smear that trackpad some more with your ink-smeared palm, you animal.

That or someone over at corsair likes a lot of games that just feel better when played with arrow keys then wasd or just don't support wasd for whatever reason(eg older space shooters and the likes) or games that use qwasde and arrow keys for their controls(one game comes to mind instantly which is descent 2) if your control scheme is something like, pitch forward ,backward, turn left, right, slide on,slide left, right,up,down, bank left, right. Then at that point you kinda wand arrows keys for pitch and turning qw/qe for banking with sliding setup to wasd keys.
There are plenty of smaller games out there that would benefit so much from mouse control but do not have mouse control or mouse control is just weird in them where as keyboard control is a lot better(once you master the piano that is their controller scheme)
I for one love my laptops ability to disable the trackpad when i play space shooters like that just sit on the bus boot up descent or x2/3 or star wars tie fighter and spend the 30 min bus trip playing some fun games.
I wish more laptops had the ability to disable part or the entire trackpack with a simple button press(Also really great against cat paws moving your mouse)

It's unfortunately kind of ass on the Oculus Link using a Quest 2. I switched from a 5700 XT to a 3070 and it's night and day, I can now push over 350-400 mbps on the encoding bitrate and the bottleneck becomes the actual USB 3.0 bandwidth, not the GPU encoder. On the 5700 XT anything above 150 mbps would cause issues...

    • @OmniUni
      @OmniUni 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Additionally, you should be able to delegate the encoding to the Vega GPU that's in the onboard graphics if you want to completely free up the 6800M for rendering. I think a lot of times reviewers forget that AMD can use both internal and dedicated GPUs at the same time. (In the very few games that support mGPU it can do that too, at least in theory.)

Corsair going well out of their way to not just rebadge a chassis and actually put out a really nice product to start is great. I'm wondering... Phone speakers have generally been great on high end models and take up tiny space (same with the camera module) and even though it's small, it boasts great sound clarity. How in the world do laptop manufacturers do not implement a speaker array for mid-high and lows instead of the large tin cans thats barely audible.

    • @kingp1n817

Funny, in my country, they are generally considered to be a shitty brand. They are often called Corszar (szar meaning shit in my language) due supplying PSU for a large government program 20 years ago. These government PC's were quite notorious for breaking and getting shorted, even catching fire sometimes. For me the actual background if quite fuzzy, I was unable to look up reliable information on these PSU's or how they were sourced.
Being said that I have multiple corsair hardware and really like them also had great experience with their customer support. I have a 12 year old PSU and when the fan broke in it, I sent a mail to their CS asking if its possible to get a replacement. They said unfortunately they dont sell it anymore, but gave me the exact specs and even advised on which chinese OEM supplier should I look for. Absolutely amazing support, was honestly not expecting that and found the part with their recommendation in 10 minutes tops.

IDK man, they've usually been rock solid when it comes to PC components. Still using 5+ year old Corsair ram(Other than one of the LEDS dying) and a 7+ year old HX750i PSU and ran their Corsair Vengeance case for a few years 7- 8 years ago. I even ran one of their old AIO's around the same time, pump lasted a good 3-4 years before dying. The only issue I've had with Corsair was when they first released their Maglev fans. It could be that I just got a bad batch, but the fan pitch and the noise was overall just worse than a good Noctua fan with SSO2 bearings. I have this laptop and and its a beast. Its an exceptional powerful computer and I think if you re ran the performance test with the fans at extreme full speed it would have preformed way better than the compared computer. Also while playing Elden ring full powered; temp was 80c which is very impressive, and that's without the cooling pad I have to prop teh laptop up.
This computer is so worth it for the price though. Full aluminum chasse, uniquely mounted screen, high quality 240hz screen, massive too. touch pad is very big and quite useful, this think is a power house with video games, yes a little loud but honestly if your playing a serious game your going to have headphones on. Speakers are decent on this but not really audiophile quality, they get the job done and I've watched plenty of movies with them and there great. Also does have dobie software which drastically improves the speaker volume and their quality and depth of sound. Hence this might just be a software limitation of windows 11 for these speakers but again, its not a boom box, or ment to be a speaker system, use a Bluetooth speaker connected to the laptop if your playing music, or your headphones.
The keyboard, Cherry MX board it is fantastic to type on. Its smooth and fun to type with, the lighting effects are endless on this board as well as the touch bar at the top that now allows you to load up PC status such as your %CPU usage and %GPU usage. The little screen shows all of this information for you so you can see these statuses while gaming. The touch bar is very useful and you can make multiple profiles for either streaming, work and more. Thus if you press a touch button it can open a website or any app or even preform an action for streaming and more, really fantastic.
Also the overall look of the computer is very impressive, really think about it, your going to pay 1.5K - 3K roughly for a high powered gaming laptop, do you really want it too look like your work laptop or something generic or be a little more proud of something that just looks bad ass. Anyways, this thing rocks, I personally don't think its very loud, and you can control all the audio options. Corsair did a good job with this machine and if you get there full warrantee program ($300 bucks more) you get two complete replacement computers if anything happens at all, not refurbished just brand spanking new computer. That alone is worth getting this thing.

In other reviews Ive watched they mentioned that the 6800m gpu in this one is on average faster than laptop 3080s and sits somewhere between the 3080 and 3080ti. Considering I wouldnt be buying it for games that support Dlss or FSR the radeon super resolution feature would actually come in handy. The Zephyrus G14/G15 set the standard for gaming laptops that I measure everything else against.
It took what the Razer blade started, made it by a better company and dropped the price. You have a non dorky gaming aesthetic that fits in next to a MacBook in an office board room, an excellent large glass track pad, good keyboard, very good speakers, color accurate QHD high refresh rate screen that packs a 3080 when you need it with 10 hour battery life and 100 watt USB C charging when you're on the go and 240 watts of AC power when you want to game. The literal only gripe any reasonable person should have is there is no MUX switch which is quite minor.
There has been no need to buy another laptop other than the Zephyrus G15 unless you need a small laptop or 17 inch laptop in the gaming space. That is going to remain that way for the foreseeable future.
I bring it's 4 pound form factor in my backpack to work and can just plug in a USB C to top off the battery. Then if I get home and want to game I throw in in the laptop stand, plug a Display Port to USB C cable that's connected to my 34" 1440p 144hz IPS Ultrawide. It runs competitive games at a locked 144fps (Overwatch for example) or can crank the graphics to high on a beautiful story driven game with a locked 60fps (like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Spiderman.) Either way it looks absolutely beautiful.
This is one of the best pieces of technology ever developed. This laptop is absolutely amazing and can truly do it all. It's the laptop I dreamed about years ago when the disgusting looking and childish Alienware dominated the space. Asus is doing amazing things.
A lot of people will say the Legion is better because it has a Mux switch and gives minor, minor improvements. Don't listen to these people You're sacrificing everything else. It's a good laptop, but you'll be missing out on the intangibles like track pad, speakers and overall design. If you're in high school and want an extra 10 fps. Legion is for you. If you're a grownup get the Zephyrus G14 or G15. My 3070 G15 is one of the best purchases I've ever made. You can even up it to 24GB of RAM and throw an extra 1TB NVME drive in it.

For what it is worth, this is a rebranded laptop made by Origin PC, which also helps explain the premium price.
Corsair bought Origin PC in 2019. Therefore, this is not like when LTT released their screwdriver. This is more like LTT buying the Megapro company and then three years later putting an LTT logo on a screwdriver designed by Megapro and calling it an LTT screwdriver.
Origin PC may be a small company but they are not an upstart. They were founded in 2009 by industry professionals that left Alienware after it was purchased by Dell so I feel like Corsair may be getting more credit than they deserve.
Nice laptop. Probably over priced. Hope to see more quality components from Corsair.
