If you remember from my PPI (Post Purchase Inspection) video with Kevin Prickett from @SupercarGarageATL McMedics we did a test drive, he attempted a manual shift between 3rd and 4th gear going about 4000 RPMs and we had a really hard shift to the next gear. He thinks that their may be an issue with my McLaren 650S transmission. In this video we start the investigation to see what is possibly wrong with my transmission, can we save it.
In Part 1 of this series we are starting out with a simple how-to on how to perform a McLaren P11 Chassis (McLaren MP4-12C, 650S or 675LT) transmission gear oil drain and replacement along with how to swap out the transmission filter to see if that makes a difference in how my McLaren transmission shifts.

Ive watched videos were there was alotta crap on those magnets....they just cleaned it up and solved the issues...McLaren would probably charge 40k for a new transðð...EVERY THING IS REPAIRABLEâĪð
My guess is I will probably be doing that service, if this fluid and filter changes don't do it! Please keep watching as I try to figure this one out. Thanks for Subscribing and Watching

Iâll be interested to see how it helps. I have similar hard shift 2-3. Kevin said it could be the magnets being dirty that allow the trans to know what gear itâs in.
After I published the video last night, Frank who works for Kevin texted me and shared their video of doing exactly what you described. I guess it is called a SAV Block Cleaning. Next step is the clutch filter and fluid change, then we will do the next test drive in manual mode. The SAV Block Cleaning may be the third step. Trying to no have to open the transmission if I can help it. Thanks for watching and following along.
@@midlifecarisis_ Yeah, at least if you use clean containers, you could reuse the fluid, but it's a bit of a PITA to repeat.
so I'm also considering having the clutch and trans calibration done with MDS, I used to do it on my GTR with my tuning software and it smoothed things out.. I have a similar issue to you, shift fine at full WOT in auto mode, but harsher shift in manual..
@@grantdavies6081 I bought a Diagcode - Single VIN, it will actually arrive tomorrow, I wonder if it has those calibration features. I will be doing some Diagcode videos coming up!
