Their hand tools have a lifetime warranty now, even Craftsman quit doing that. About 15 years ago Harbor Freight's hand tools were terrible. I'd broken those ratchets and even split sockets, but now they're surprisingly good. There are some things of theirs that are still awful though, like sandpaper (how do you screw that up?), batteries, many of the power tools. I did get the biggest cordless impact and it's better than the Craftsman I've got as well. That thing has been beastly for getting rusted nuts off of rusty bolts.
Sean.... I love the info you've shared in your vids. When you mentioned the exact hz the exhaust was resonating at and busted out the spreadsheet, I knew I was in the right place ahahha
should take out the fill plug while it was draining to allow it drain quicker and i don't own a McLaren or service one but is that a second drain plug? on some transmissions theres more than one especially on high performance cars / dual clutch transmissions you might've drained half the fluid dual clutch trans need 7-8 liters from the cars i've worked on.

McLaren service procedure aside, its usually good price to at crack loose the fill plug, before you drain the fluid. Just in case for whatever reason you aren't able to remove the fill plug after you've drained the oil, it would leave you with no way to refill the fluid.
Hello Sean, do you need to replace the drain/fill plugs too or just add new washers? Or get new crush washers (size?). Clutch fill/drain plugs are same size washers too? Thanks
@@McLarenGTFast Yeah, I've seen some listed as GL4/GL5 that used to only be GL5. As long as it meets GL5 requirements you're good. I've used the one that's both and it was good.
Is there anyway to get the filter out and replace it without having to bend the filter to get it in? The filter is too long to get it past the frame. You can tuck it up into the notch of the frame but then you have to bend it to make it work
@@McMedics that’s what I thought. I just wanted to confirm as that’s the only way I could see it being done. But I couldn’t see McLaren being ok with the dealers bending the filter like that.
Thanks for all your videos. I just picked up a 2013 12C. You mentioned a rear view camera in this video. Did you make a video for that or can you explain what system you used. In don’t think the IRIS has a rear view setting.
IRIS 1 has no rear camera, IRIS 2 is optional and most have it, but it isn't very good. I didn't do a video on the camera but I'd thought about going back and showing what I did for one, like how to run the cable and such.
I'd imagine most of those "failures" are leaks or solenoid issues where the manufacturer would prefer to swap an entire gearbox than perform repairs on it.
I had my transmission replaced on my 570s and now the engine light went on due to hose clamps being loose causing an air flow leak, do you think this can be caused during the transmission replacement?
I did my spark plugs in December when I did downpipes, I shot a bunch of video and I don't remember if plugs were in that. If it wasn't, there won't be one anytime soon. At least not on my car.
I do still have it, and love it. Watch my two videos about ownership out of warranty, I outline cost of ownership. 911 is a fine car, not the same experience. 911 is a nice daily to me, not something special.
@McMedics Sean i got a question,my 720s with 8k miles has been parked for a year while i sourced some body parts,i started driving it 3 days ago and now have a small leak from where axle meets transmission,do you think it will stop leaking after a while or seal needs replacement, sorry if im asking a dumb question,i appreciate it 👍
Prices are always subject to change, and different dealers will give different prices, so I didn't mention it. I don't remember which was which but clutch and transmission filters combined were $241 I think. They weren't the same cost each.

There is only 1 drain plug, and based on the rate it's flowing, I don't see it flowing any faster. The fluid added was the capacity.

You can replace them, isn't necessary.

It is
My GT is a 2021 with 7000 miles. I would like to swap the fluid. Do you believe it's necessary to replace the filter? Same GL5 5 liters?
Necessary to swap filters, same fluid, must be GL5

Hi Sean how do you clear the service indicator once you have completed a service?
As of right now (hopefully not much longer) you can only do it with dealer level tools or by changing the date in the car (what most do).
How frequently do you change the transmission oil due to the expensive DCT failures?
I don't know of any actual DCT failures. Transmission fluid is 40k miles and clutch fluid is 20k miles but we usually do both at 20k.
I'd imagine most of those "failures" are leaks or solenoid issues where the manufacturer would prefer to swap an entire gearbox than perform repairs on it.
You're correct, a leak of any type from any location they replace the whole thing rather than fixing the leak.

For air flow, no. No air lines are disconnected for that. Coolant is, but no air.

Whats the ballpark cost to do this on 720s at the dealer for s**** and giggles? Around $2500 i would assume.
Depends on the dealer, there is no standard price for labor, parts, or materials. They all mark up differently.
