- Our vintage go kart with a highly modified Predator 212cc engine did 74MPH on this American Express 2.0 chassis. After much thought, we decided that the 20HP Predator would be better used on a racing kart with better aerodynamics. Today, we're turning our American Express 2.0 go kart into a true Time Machine inspired by the Back to the Future movies.
We install a flux capacitor, custom cut wheel covers that look like Delorean wheels, wiring, and an OUTATIME California license plate. It turned out really well, but we end up trashing the stage 1 Predator 212 engine on it!

Well in the movie when Marty went to 1955 the time machine ran out of plutonium and broke down so it’s fine that it blew up its part of the movie
But when he went to 1885 without gas, they had to push it with a train to 88mph.
Then there's the second movie where the time circuits were malfunctioning. Seriously, the DeLorean had a plethora of mechanical and electronic issues. All you guys did was inherit the DeLorean's curse
and it needed new tie rods

My Father made a go-kart for me when I was very young and it was magical! I think he really built it to satisfy the child within himself! My Dad was a speed and racing addict. I really enjoyed watching your videos and really appreciate the fact that if I had a young son or had my Grandkids watching this with me, you guys did not use profanity and were genuine young men and I respect that! You may have lit a fire in me to make my own little racer! Thank you!!
Running a stock cast aluminum rod at a much higher RPM then stock tends to cause the rod to weld itself to the steel crank. It would be my guess that rod will have pull marks in the journal where the aluminum started to soften up and you'll find corresponding scores marks in the crank pin. The safest way to run at a much higher that stock is to go with a billet aluminum rod with bearing inserts. Love your projects!
put the 20 hp back on it thats what you started out to do. and finish it the way you started

did you not listen at the start, they were using the stage 1 212cc, NOT THE 20bhp 212cc
they build the 20 hp just for that cart. and they started the video with the 20 hp on it. and they took it off and put a stage one on it . so maybe you should watch the video again.
a 2 stroke or rotary of that size can easily make 20+ hp

Get the 4 engine gokart and put the stage 4 kit on all 4 engines!!!
You already went back in time to try and win the lottery but things went wrong and Ike accidentally burnt down your whole garage with the winning ticket inside, You tried to go back in time again but after a second and third attempt things got worse each time, You then decided it would be best to go back and sabotage the engine before you ever went back in time in the first place. This explains why your engine broke, so please don't fix the engine or you will forever be stuck in this time loop!

It definitely needs something on the back that resembles the boosters on the car, also I think that a little grill on the front with lights would make it pop beautifully!
*CarsandCameras* I also want to see you guys incorporate a Nuvinci transmission into one of your projects badly! Basically future tech, it acts as a clutch and a variable ratio transmission with ridiculous ratio range. Try and pick one up sometime, it would be highly interesting to many I am sure. The motorized bike crowd is starting to use them like crazy.
Do a tear down video and it would be cool to see an engine build competition between you and Ike
Don't forget a big wing and a flame paint job. Lean forward and squint your eyes while in motion. All this advice is free. Priceless. It'll make you go faster.

Make a skit where you go back to when your dad was a boy and then convince him that when grows up he wants to pave a go cart grand prix track around the perimeter of his property .
It would be cool if you can put some kind of a remake of a miniature body to put on that frame the looks just like the Back to the Future car that would be cool

it Needs to go 88mph . that is the main goal of this cart... after achieving this goal whatever. but until than. keep the biggest motor you can find on hand for this thing.

Plot: go back in time to introduce the cowboys to go carts hopefully inspiring the great great great grandfathers of the current owners of go power sports to create their store by stopping Ike's evil twin brother from the future whos plans are to stop gocarts from ever becoming in favor of bicycles

The kart looks great and I'm glad you decided to take the high hp engine off and use it for something that deserves it. Sucks it kinda blew up at the end but it's a predator and cheap. Looking forward to the next video so keep em coming
I would love to see a tach being put on the go kart that you put the 20hp engine in which you can use to help tune with gear ratio. Just and idea but would be cool to see. You could see about putting in a speedometer that runs a little bit higher than twice as fast as the cart actually goes just for the 88mph in the video

You guys have some older cars that you could use in the Back to the Future skit. You could start with the newer cars parked in the driveway, then go "back in time," and have the older cars parked there. It's nothing major for a skit, but it's a start I guess.
If movies taught me anything, it wouldn't be a time machine if it didn't like to break down at bad times.

Go back in time and put a billet rod in that motor before it locks up, but do the first part of the skit with your 20hp motor and when you help your past selves with swapping out the rod, you see the 20 hp motor turn into the motor you just blew up... but with the new rod, you will be really testing your editing skills though Jon! The plot twist can be that you needed the 20hp motor to get enough speed to go back to your time in the future lol so instead you use a powerline to help power the flux capacitor! Awesome build guys! Keep up the good work!

CarsandCameras I will think of some ideas and be back to this in the comment, in the meantime you guys should look into the CT70 knockoff they just came out with! Icebear makes it and it has a 125cc, semiautomatic shifter, and disc brakes. It looks cool.

Here is a similar CT70 clone from a couple years ago, but I keep getting an ad for a new one that looks badass on my FB feed. It goes for $1,250 new and looks worth it.

You want that cart to go faster? Add some aero to it.. put on a front valance toss on a small wing on the back get you some down force get you some grip and get you some speed. You are fighting a battle with it, on one side you have drag and traction on the other you have speed.
Benjamin Hale traction isnt really an issue but aero would help immensely.
I think at the speeds they are trying for in something as light as they are using wheels not staying planted on the ground is a fairly big issue.
Do some back to the future skits, Isaac as doc, John as Marty. Use the rooster as Einstein

Also what about a whip antenna for when the lightining struck the clock tower and they fed the car off that? Also adding four small lights would top off the front. Give it that delorean look

SEAN BENWARE yeah but he does have a point. The entire point of the build was a miniature vintage rail frame with the biggest harbor freight motor publicly available, decked out all pretty. Bright loud and supprisingly fast. They havent gotten reliability down on the predators. Ike uses alot of techs that were good for old bulletproof honda and briggs engines. The predators are made to perform to its structural integrity, not for performans or even reliability. Cheap mats, dial it back. Simple. The upgrades required to get the result they want would require them doing math, measurments, and thought. A dremmel and bolt on go fast parts are NOT going to be reliable or efficient for the money and work youre willing to risk. @carsandcameras i hope you read this. You guys need to get that v twin upside down and empty, and i want to see math, i want to see drawings, i want you guys to recognize volumetric efficiency, harmonics and what youre trying to acheive as well as how to get there. The smartest thing you can do is buy a white board and a loooot of magnets and paper. You have to see your goal to know how it gets accomplished. Until then youre going to chase your tail longer than itd take to cast an entire new v twim from scratch. Im only bustin your balls but i mean every word of it. Happy gooning!!!
I feel like the hemi variant tends to break more often than the normal one.
Just a tip, try to get a sanding disk for grinding down welds, they cut through metal so fast and they leave a much nicer finish. I use them to grind welds off when I can.

Make a dual exhaust in the back and make the muffler look like the big rectangles. That’d look so cool! I love the build and can’t wait to see where it goes!
Those hub caps are great looking imo and definitely need to put on those jet exhaust/old garage heater things.
I have an engine off of zero turn lawn mower 25 horse V-Twin and you guys inspired me I'm going to build me a go-kart around that engine but I think I'm going to make it front-engine rear-wheel-drive it'll be cool I'll let you guys know what happens

Poor traction with engine weight in front... these guys did a similar build with Red Wagon cart... I'd suggest twin LawnBoy 6 1/2 HP 2 cycle engines... they're very light...

You go to 2379 then you see yourself walking on the street you wonder how you lived so long. Then you see a kid fall off his bike but he doesent bleed you just see wires. Soon you go to yourself and start asking questions on why eveywone is a robot. After that you go to the stor because you are hungry but you dont have an identification code. So the robocops start coming after you so you get on your go kart and go back in time but you where doing is so quick that you messed up and instead of going to 2018 you go to 1983. Then you have to try to get to 2018 but you need a gigawatt. And there is noplace to get that other than lightning. And also you would have to try to get the lightning without altering the future.
Moneymaker1939 that was a bomb ass movie... Its called back to the future. He gets the lightning from a strike hitting a clock and the news writting about it so he knows when.

Not even related, tightening the clutch bolt only helps keep the clutch on the crankshaft it doesn't do anything to change the dynamics of the pull starter or the ability for the crank to turn.

Skit idea: Ike goes back in time to try and stop himself from blowing up his engine. Ike's brother could be his double. Or Ike could go back in time to try and keep John from running over Jeb the bush with the 670.
Is there a way you could mount two small tubes that could squirt some kind of flammable fluid right behind the rear wheels, with some kind of ignitor, so you could make the flaming tire tracks.

Dang, It's one of those 'may-pop' engines. Run them hard and run them fast, because they may just 'pop'! A 'tear-down' video would be cool. Please have John's sister (I think), feature in the 'Back to the Future' video. I think she has been in one or two video and seems like a nice girl.
