    Steve, I have a 2012 Cummins and I have literally done everything you are doing and then some. Built trans, coolant bypass, hpp ezlynk, and many more. I am not sure what your factory thermostat is, being a newer year truck (190 deg?) but I had to change mine from 190 to match the one that came with the fleece kit, 180. My coolant temp was fluctuating until I did that. Just another recommendation, with your truck now able to put 550ish hp to the ground, your next "mod" should be head studs. Trust me, I said "I don't need them, I have a factory turbo." Don't be like me, Stud your head.

    • @BEASTProjects
      @BEASTProjects  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jon, studs are in the planning. My truck has a 180F thermostat, I’ll have to keep an eye on the temperatures. So far, I haven’t noticed anything crazy.

      Jon Storms - 2010 - 2012 trucks with tuning are notorious for blowing HGs. Was this with HPP's tuning? All of the ones I've read about were using the Mini Maxx or Smarty jr, and seemed to be caused from too much timing. This isn't a concern with 13+ trucks until you are pushing 45+psi boost which the stock turbo is incapable of on stock fuel. He only needs studs if he gets a bigger turbo and bigger injectors, but then he'll need a bigger CP3, bigger lift pump, HD valve springs, and HD push rods to support the other mods.

      @jonstorms3585 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@monsterram6617 I had a mini maxx before and I had crazy egts so I changed to Ez-Lynk through hpp. I also have a s465 second gen swap and they were still high.. Even on low tunes..

    Hey I just watched your Trans upgrade / coolant bypass Video an you were talking about some Rust prevention I feel your pain on that subject. I live in Pennsylvania too An have a 4th Gen You need to Check out fennel coat they do a Spray grease concoction on the undercarriage . A friend of mine has An 05 Cummins an had this coating done years ago an he has Zero rust an it looks great the only down fall is that greas gets on everything when you work on it in including yourself might want to wear a jumpsuit lol

    I wouldn't worry about that warranty, theres a new or old law or act that the dealer has to prove that your aftermarket add one actually caused the problems your trying to warranty. A coolant bypass is only going to help keep things cool so your winning on that part. Thanks for this video and information. Now I can do mine lol

      @tonyturner779 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please feel free to correct me if wrong and read through the attached link but the way it was explained to me by my greenville dodge was that the provider of the warranty has to in fact prove without a reasonable doubt that your change or aftermarket addition cause the failure of parts or items under said warranty.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson%E2%80%93Moss_Warranty_Act

    • @monsterram6617
      @monsterram6617 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tony Turner - While this is true, there's one part of the puzzle that is missing: dealerships can refuse to do any warranty work until the truck is returned to stock condition. That means your lift, your tires, anything you've done to the engine, transmission, differentials, etc, etc. all must be removed. This bypasses the Magnuson-Moss Act entirely and puts the owner in a potentially worse situation where they would have to spend thousands of dollars getting the truck back to stock just to save money on a potentially less-costly repair.
      It's also worth mentioning that this was a powertrain failure and it is very reasonable that tuning the engine to make more power caused or contributed to the transmission failure. It would be different if he had a malfunctioning sun-roof and they told him bigger tires were the cause, then refused to cover it under warranty. In this circumstance you'd probably have a case, but if the dealership wanted to be A-holes they could *still* refuse to fix it until it was made stock.
      Btw even *if* the dealership covered this 100% under warranty, Steve would eventually wind up right back where he was a few weeks ago because he'd be getting a stock 68rfe, not one built with upgraded internals which is what he needs at this point in his build.

    • @BEASTProjects
      @BEASTProjects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I guess I should of mentioned this in one of the videos. I actually went to the dealership for the transmission OD slippage & an issue w/ the D/S front panel. I was curious to see if they would even entertain it. I would have let them swap it, just so I could get by a little longer until I could afford the MIGHTY RevMax 850 68RFE. I know that it would be a matter of time until I would probably toast the OD again on a stock transmission. Well, the dealership wouldn't even submit the transmission for warranty replacement, because I installed an aftermarket RevMax valve body. The dealership's RO read "The customer will have to take their vehicle back to the shop that installed the aftermarket valve body". They did however cover the door panel replacement. Now, I just need to find the time to give my truck up for a day at the dealership for something that would only take me 15 minutes to install. LOL

    • @monsterram6617
      @monsterram6617 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ram BEAST Projects - Hey, at least you tried! About the 850, I was speaking with Tom when purchasing my trans last year and couldn't decide which one to get. He said that the 850 is primarily for racing applications and that it has softer clutches that wear out reasonably fast and require periodic refreshing (rebuilding). For street use, Tom said the 700 with the billet steel center support is the way to go. It's advertised for 700whp but people have reported making over 900whp with no slippage. So far, this thing is bullet proof; burnouts, boosted launches, WOT 5th & 6th gear changes, you name it... although I'm only around 550whp right now so we'll see once I put more fuel to this sucker what happens!
      Basically, if you need to hold over 900whp it's better to do a 48re swap since they can hold much more power for less. However, it's a couple grand for the harness and other parts to make the swap so there is some "investment" cost going that route. Any way you slice it though, a built transmission for these trucks is expensive. Hell, I even looked into doing an Allison swap since people rave about them. Found a place in Florida and was quoted about $13,000 with a built 650whp Suncoast Allison. This was way more than I was willing to spend for that low of HP rating. Contrast that with the RevMax700 68rfe at $9,900 installed, 2-year unlimited mile warranty, and $1000 rebuilds for the rest of ownership. Let's put it this way, that extra $3k paid for my 2nd gen swap and left me with room to grow!

  • @monsterram6617
    @monsterram6617 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't think you need that bracket. I haven't had one on mine for over 20k miles. It sees plenty of punishment and nothing so far.
    I did add the ATS 68rfe brace though ($189) which you *can* install with the trans in the truck in about 20 minutes. Cheap insurance for a cracked case which essentially means you need a new trans.
    Can't wait to see the test drive! 👍

    Fleece bypass is prone to leaking. A better option is the Stainless Diesel bypass. Works off pressure. When things heat up the pressure increases and it opens up. Also, having that thermostat in the fleece bypass. What a pain when that goes bad. You have to drop your trans to undo the bypass. Just a poor design all around.
