That's true. I live here in South Korea, there's definitely a strong difference I can feel about the way South Koreans treat other Asians (Chinese, South Asians and South East Asians) in general. I am a mixed blood of Chinese, South East Asian and a bit European. Eventhough my skin is not dark, but I don't look Korean enough and they definitely look down upon me after knowing I came from SEA country. Arrogance and pride are the enemy of society. As an academic I see this language insert itself into nationalist language appearing in academic writings. This is a continuation of a historical practice in both Korea and Japan. The Koreans has a caste The baekjeong (Korean: 백정) were an untouchable caste in Korea, originating from some minority, nomadic groups of disputed ethnicity. Let’s not forget that the same can be said of Japan’s treatment of anyone not seen as “Japanese”. Including Ainu, Ryukyuan, Burakumin/Hinin/mura-no-mono. Then you add classism, topics of skin color where lightness is seen as socially elevated or civilized. China has their own xenophobia and anti-American attitudes but that is more related to CCP propaganda including Han Chauvinism. Which also targets and minimizes the contributions of the 50+ indigenous groups recognized in China. But who are reminded daily they are “really Chinese”. Every culture has an historical form of a caste system or scapegoating. The question is, are you a culture/ethnicity/nation willing to acknowledge it and put an end to it?
Maybe if your government make a bill or a law that, give penalty to those racist citizens, like us we have that kind of bill here, anti discrimination, anti bullying bill, for sure it give lessons to those racist people a warning
