  • The Asus Rog X16 Flow has an 1100 nit display, but does that brightness translate into outdoor use? How does it compare to the Surface Laptop Studio? Which one is better for artwork and drawing? In this video Cbutters @cbutters Tech and Justice Frangipane @Tablet Pro look at the inking and display on these two machines and demo so real world, hands on tests.

      Hi Javi, 😊 I think it’s a notch above the Surface Book 2 and a half notch or notch below the surface laptop studio. But this is based off of Cameron’s work. Not my own experience. Cameron, what’s your thought? Better than Surface Book 2 drawing quality? Less jitter in the lines?

    How would you and @cbutters say the drawing performance of the x16 with an ASUS pen compares to the drawing performance of the Studio with the Slim Pen? Does the Slim Pen work better than the ASUS pen on the x16, or is there yet another pen that works better with it? I'm trying to decide which laptop is better for illustration and everyday use.

    What is the hinge like on the flow? I’ve seen a lot of reviews of pre production models where it is loose and doesn’t hold its position well which is my main concern with it (other than the weight). How do you think it compares to an hp x360 in terms of quality and performance? Thanks

      Unfortunately what you get inside the box depends on your region. The extra things you could get are: An Asus branded backpack, a 100W usb C PD charger (besides the 240w that comes with all x16 laptops) and the SA201H ASUS pen.
      The included pen isn’t anything too special, it’s pretty heavy so I don’t use it. Any MPP 2.0 pen will work on this laptop.

    Which pen would you recommend getting for the Flow X16?

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hard to say as i have only seen the slim pen 2 on it, my guess, as I've seen the r530 on the z13/x13 screen (assuming its the same on both) and it's pretty decent. I have a hard time believing that the x16 is tuned for the slim pen 2. Hard to justify that expense with it needing a separate charger and missing a side button. But until I actually test it or have more information it's just a guess. I tested 25 stylus in order to decide the r530 was my first choice for MOST machines. it isn't my first choice on the Pro 8 or Surface laptop studio, the slim pen 2 is. This probably just caused some confusion. R530 is $32 right now on sale, so it's a cheap risk and a great second stylus if it doesn't end up suitable. If you do test it, please let me know what you find out, email me if possible.

      @Tablet Pro by any chance, have you or @cbutters had the chance to test the Asus 2.0 sa203h pen on either the Dlow Z13 or X16? I would really appreciate it if either of you could look into the performance of that pen. And also, does the r530 support tilt to the same level of the Microsoft slim pen 2?

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't recommend the slim pen 2 for anything except the 3 devices it was made for. the charging issues and price are really high, and the line quality is better on cheaper stylus. even just the regular surface pen 2017 option I would recommend before the slim pen 2. I really like that stylus, but I have it here and never pick it up to use with my Z13. I also don't recommend the asus pen 2.0, but keep in mind it was from a review I did with cbutters and it didn't perform as well as the surface pen or the r530 stylus. I have a new guide up doing a test of a handful of stylus on the z13, it should be applicable to the x16

      I'm wondering the same. I could be wrong but I believe having more cores means you can't get as much power/speed out of a single core. This is where you'd want to see on aggregate of all the programs you use whether they rely more on single core power or can make use of multiple cores to run multiple tasks at once. But also I'd imagine (without checking) that the x16 just has a faster single core speed regardless?? I haven't looked. Hopefully that is helpful to consider for someone still deciding.
      I do want to ask @Sveken what you think of your x16 machine so far. How is the drawing? Are you noticing any jittering when in use? What kind of programs do you use? How is the build quality of the machine? Does it seem like it'll last? Any annoying quirks? If you can give any insight it would be very helpful to us still deciding. Thank you
