I got the x16 delivered today and I can’t explain how amazing this device is..obviously my expectations were already high after watching so many unboxing and review videos..but I can tell you that its better than my expectations..can’t really understand the feeling unless you use it..
I have the Asus ROG X16 Flow with Intel i9 and RTX4060 for half a year now and I am amazed at how good this laptop is and what it can do. so glad I traded in my macbook for this one
@@afd1040 In any case, you are better off with an RTX 4050 or 4060 size, which have now also fallen slightly in price. I bought mine with i9 and 4060 for €2000
I'm stuck between choosing this laptop or the Pro Art Studio book 16 OLED. I wanted to get your opinion on it. I'm trying to get a laptop for a live gigs where I will need to be using A LOT of effects on my DAW. I also do some light video editing here and there. But I just love the way the flow bends all the way back and the mini LED instead of the OLED. Is it that much more worth it to get the HX processor over the H?
Awesome review, thank you. I really appreciate the amount of details you put in and your general style. The laptop looks great, I am undecided between this and the Thinkbook 16p. As a side note, it would have been nice for me to see also the webcam quality. Cheers
Great review, and I must say a great all-around laptop and an excelent screen. I've been working with it for the past months as an IT professional and gaming on the go. People don't notice the laptop unless they know what it is. Really one of the best laptops I have had so far. Battery life can go up to a decent 5 or more hours when running in optimal mode using armory crate. My previous laptop Legion Slim 7 Gen 7 (16" AMD) was a lot more noisy and didn't play very well for online FPS, and had a lot of thermal issues and the battery wasn't as good as this one.
It is important to point out, that even though it gets hot, it only impacts comfort of use and it doesn't throttle the CPU or GPU. This is a jack of all trades and master of MOST. - gaming power - slim and light with solid construction - convertable - miniled - good screen and speakers - decent keyboard, touchpad and webcam - enough connectivity (hdmi, mini-sd card, 2 usb-c with Thunderbolt4 and 100w usb-charging, 2 usb-a, headphone jack) - upgradeable (2 nvme slots, 2 ram slots) and XG-Mobile proprietary port of eGPU There is nothing on the market that checks all these boxes. What I wished it would have also had: - up to RTX 4080 - vapor chamber - all aluminium instead of the aluminium-magnesium combo Of course, a vapor chamber and unibody cnc-aluminium would have pushed the price to 4000 euro even without the 4080. But hey...there are people willing to fork out 5k for a laptop so why not give us the option? In any case, I bought mine in May this year and so far satisfied with the purchase.
@@Lowchew you can connect any display either via the USB Type C 3.2 Gen 2 from the XGMobile complex or via the Thunderbolt 4 port, or via HDMI 2.1. I don't know of any modern laptop with a specialised Display Port, since that function is included in USB C anyway.
awesome review, this laptop is at my main picks for now, I am still hesitated about the battery life, is there a big difference between surface laptop studio and x16 in battery life specially under work load conditions???
as a student, I've had this laptop for six months and the battery lasts enough to get me through the school day even with some power to spare. Would 100% recommend this laptop!
As a student well. I had the studio 2 and the Asus xflow 16 they both have same identical battery life very similar. And the only thing different is the amazing genius display the xflow 16 has vs the studio. If your an artist the drawing or editing will be a plus studio 2 and worth it over mini led xflow 16 for atirst reasons on the studio 2 as the studio really has the niche for latency and studio like env for doing work. I kept the studio 2 64gb 1tb and now have got backmy Asus xflow 16. How valuable they r for me
The quality is good, the hinge has been inproved over the 2022 model and is now stiffer. However, you don`t notice the metal. To the touch it feels like plastic. That is because of the magnesium. The disadvantage of the interior being all magnesium, ist that it doesnt feel cool to the touch like aluminium does. They used magnesium because it is lighter then aluminium. I would have prefered aluminium though. I never touched the M16 but I assume its the same.
I'm confused about how many displays (also what resolution/ hz) you can connect to the device at once on it's own, with the dual 4k usb-c dock they advertise as an add-on purchase, and when you plug in the xg mobile. Do all the ports pull from dedicated or integrated graphics, etc?
You didnt tried it with Frame Gen ? Its the main points of 40 series although with latency delay it isnt that much noticeable unless you have less than 60fps. My 4050 can do 1080p RT Ultra/Ultra Dlss Quality on 60-70fps
It comes with a pen. It is pretty nice compared to wacom tablets (not only for tablet navigation and notes, but for Photoshop drawing and zbrush sculpting). I have no complaints about it. Also it has comfortable pen battery life.
I love my 2022 x16 very much but sadly the bottom-line is that it while I don't find it too big, I simply find it too heavy. it's not fun to lug around. I caved and picked up a 2023 x13, it's been a week and I am so much happier.
It really doesn't matter this generation. Both Intel 13th gen and Ryzen 7000 provide the same level of battery life. Additionally, you get Thunderbolt 4 with Intel.
maybe because in a 16 inch chassis, they had the freedom of bringing a more powerful configuration with a larger battery capacity in contrast to the 13 inch variant that does come with an AMD cpu

Maybe the all in one laptop in the future has some sort of a docking station that adheres or slots in from the bottom of the laptop and provides additional cooling while at your desk
@alecsbizarrememes7862 Those cooling pads arent anything but fans pointing at the bottom of the chassis. Im talking about the chassis having a door where a stationary heatsink in your desk mates with the cooling solution inside the laptop. Like adding a noctua dh15 to the laptop.
