Great video sir! @3:49 - I believe that was the updated stylus released with the SP4. The SP3 didn't have the wire clip, but did have the 2 buttons as you describe. It came out it 2016 and jumped from 1K pressure sensitivity to 4K if I recall properly.
Have you tried an my of these pens with Photoshop? I've red the asus pen 2.0 had,/used to have issues, which is making me think of picking another one. Ideas?
Ah, your channel is life saving, I bought the raphaels styluses some years ago and was happily using them... until I manage to kill both the same week -_- I tried the metapen even if a bit worried about the tips beeing too big and hiding the drawing, but it's a very pleasant stylus. So far I love it :)
Have you performed testing with the Asus Pen 2 (SA203H) and if so, how does it compare? That is what I have but I find the pressure sensitivity has been difficult to get how I like it. I'm wondering if I'd have a better experience with one of the 3 you recommended. And thanks for all of the videos. Very helpful!!
Yes, I did testing with @Cbutters in a previous video. You can see the first tests at 5 min. BUT watch the tests at 17:50 and you will see why I don't recommend either the Asus Pen 2 or Slim Pen 2. th-cam.com/video/OgBQ6HGQERE/w-d-xo.html
Hi. Love this video. Watched it many times and now I am in a position to ask a question. Just got a z13 and I picked up a metapen 2. Tilt for the meta works great in OneNote 2010 on my Surface devices but doesn't work at all on my z13? The ASUS pen Tilt functionality works, just not the metapen 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That’s very odd to me. So it works on the surface. Doesn’t work on the z13. Asus pen does work on the z13. So OneNote shows tilt working with the Asus pen. If you set the Asus pen down and immediately pick up the metapen 2 it won’t work. No setting changed just doesn’t work? Can you confirm I’ve got it correct?
@20.39 you can charge the slimpen 2 with slim pen charger( it's magnetic)..and question, does the motor/vibrator work on the slimpen2 when u use it on the flow Z13?
@@TabletPro Thanks for the reply I wish you repaid sooner but I ordered one for x16 (based on experience of iPad and x16 is even more finicky than iPad!!)
Hi which one would you consider the best for Blender, Substance Painter and Zbrush on the Z13? "Best" meaning no lag, no/little wiggle, good pressure sensitivity and ideally a few buttons on the pen. I'm asking about specific softwares because Zbrush and Blender can be a bit annoying with lag issues, unlike some 2D softwares.
That’s a little tough for me to say. Both run the software with low lag from my experience but you may have to adjust settings. In the past Zbrush was horrible on my devices, but it was a setting that you could adjust in the number of used threads. Take it down from the max by one or two and viola, buttery smooth. Idk why. So both are quite good the pro 9/studio and z13. But rendering I think the z13 is going to be better. For 2d I think I’d push for the pro 9. The palm rejection issue is really bothering me but I think I’m a little more unique in that regard.
@@TabletPro Nice, thanks for the quick reply dude! I have a good enough desktop which I use for working hours and final render. I'm looking into Surface Pro 9 and Z13 for mobility in the house on my free time, so not final render, but good enough for viewport work with cycles. Do you have any suggestions there? And btw, Tablet Pro seems like an amazing combo for that mobility, good job on that!!
Great video! I went with Metapen m2 and compared it with the slim pen and the only difference i could tell is the tip hardness. I actually prefer the harder tip on the metapen because it feels like a pencil ( like the apple pencil) on a paperlike screen protector although i notice the tips on the metapen wore out way faster than slim pen 2 or maybe i am just not use to the amount of pressure. I was gonna go for the R530 but I dont know how i feel about the tip.
It does have a nice feel to it. I remember when the Surface Pen came out with the first elastapolymer tip, was amazing to not have that plastic on glass feel. Somehow these newer tips have retained some friction/traction between the tip and the screen that still feels nice. It's a good feeling, I agree. What app are you planning on using most with the stylus?
@@TabletPro Clip Studio Paint is the program I use with Surface Pro 9. The metapen tip on mine is already showing the metal bit which unfortunately I think is from the matte screen protector which is bummer because I thought I found the right pen for it and replicated the paper like feel, I even set the pen pressure on the program to be really light and it still wore out quite fast. Currently waiting for the non matte screen protector so I don't go through nibs so fast. If the metapen tip still wear out fast despite the change, maybe I will give R530 a shot since I've seen multiple videos mentioning it.
@@TabletPro Hey Tabletpro i heard that the palm rejection is really bad on the Zflow 13 or asus tablets in general. How do you get around this ? I wanted to use the tablet for notetaking.
I'm working on something here to help with that. Currently you can use the Tablet Pro STUDIO app to create a palm blocking touch zone and it works pretty well. @@silverpro8356
I was looking for the ASUS PEN 2.0 SA203H. That's a $110 pen and I was wondering how it differs. I am ordering a Flow X16, waiting for the SLS2 and after comparing it to the X16 it was a no Brainer. Swappable ram in the X16 and for the extra $$$ the SLS2 costs, I said no way. I was holding out the the SLS2 too.
Ths is me, but I ordered Flow Z16. I haven't decided on which pen I'm getting yet. Based on this video, it's probably going to be one of the third party ones shown here (have to decide whether I want a hard plastic-on-glass feel vs rubber-on-glass feel) or the ASUS Pen 2
@@bhaskararaka somebody had recommended the Wacom bamboo pen. That has the ability to have extra tips but their sold separately. It's also like 40 bucks too which is a lot better than 100 and it's made by Wacom who is basically the leader in drawing tablets
What issues u had with Asus tablet, because u have sent the tablet to Asus for a replacement, did they solve the problem. Is Asus z13 tablet is perfect or needs more development. What about the battery performance? R u facing any new issues? Is it comfortable to hold in one hand for a long time? What about Asus pen performance compare to these 3rd party pens? Is it possible to make a video of blender rendering speed test with cycle and evee .
There was an issue with what felt like the graphics card. It was going slow, fast, slow, fast, so you couldn't use it, was causing major lag in various applications, gaming was impossible, video editing was awful. They did fix it. The biggest issue right now is palm rejection. It is VERY annoying to try to use OneNote or a drawing app without a glove/sock. The cursor moves under my palm frequently. If I hover my hand it's better of course, but I'm used to letting my palm rest on the screen. Battery life is what I would call expected. I can squeeze out a few hours (3ish) with nice performance for note taking, drawing. But not much more. With Blender... I'm not that familiar with it to know how to do a proper rendering test. Are you in my discord channel? Perhaps you can help me test exactly what you are wanting to see and I can make a video.
as for holding in one hand for a long time, it's a little heavy, but not bad. I usually will hold it in portrait mode because it brings the display higher and is easier for me to use without looking too far down. (neck injury) And that works fairly well. The kickstand doesn't provide any optimal hand holds, but is okay. I do wish it had a magnetic point for the stylus that felt safe.
Hey Tabletpro i heard that the palm rejection is really bad on the Zflow 13 or asus tablets in general. How do you get around this ? I wanted to use the tablet for notetaking.
I have heard this too. Did you end up getting one? I ordered mine and am waiting for it to arrive. Moving from a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 tablet Gen 2, I will be heavily using it for notetaking In the meantime I am looking around for the pens that I will need to buy.
in a specific app or every app? what stylus are you using? if the stylus is one that is known to work (Slim Pen 2 or Renaisser r530 or similar) then it is most likely the Z13 and not the stylus. Rarely will the problem be the stylus unless it's a generic brand and it's pretty hard to even find one that doesn't have some sort of pressure support.
I could only find them on Amazon and some Chinese sites, but reviews were very mixed, I didn't want to risk my money. I was also having problems with allergy to the Asus pen's metal body so I gave up and bought a new pen, a Renaisser, which I know you can easily get new tips for (surface tips work apparently).
I’m considering trading in my Surface Pro 8 for this. I use Clip Studio Pro, so hopefully the Surface Slim Pen 2 works well on this device. If so, I will just keep the pen when I trade in my SP8.
