    Today's video was very informative for a non farmer. Like the videos that show how farmers manage the land from planting, harvest and seed bed prep. Thank you

    Don't worry BTP i am still watching lol.
    Watching all the big iron that is used to farm now days is enjoyable to watch for us old farts that worked 100 acres of farm ground as kids.
    When lived in North Dakota for awhile that was my first taste of big iron.

      It’s amazing what machines can do in a few hours today. I remember multiple passes of tillage in the early 80’s with plowing, disking and harrowing. Now one machine can accomplish everything in one pass that used to take 4,5,6 or more.

    Non-farmer question: In the older video that explains all the different tillage methods, the moldboard plow is the most aggressive option to break up compaction. But later on the video says that it creates compaction. To me that didn't make lots of sense. This farm seems to work just fine with no plowing. Do they never have to or is it a once every few years treatment for them? Thank you (and anyone else) for explaining! Cheers :)

    • @PaulsonFarms
      @PaulsonFarms 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can try to explain that. Plowing over time can create what is called a plow pan, which is basically a compaction layer 9-10 inches deep. To avoid creating compaction it is a good idea to mix up tillage practices, but by far the best method to reduce compaction in the plants roots. What we do to reduce compaction is a method called strip till and ill be doing some videos on that this spring.

    nice to see some spring tillage but i got a combine question how standardized if at all are the header hook ups. Is it like other implements that they could care less about what it is hooked to or is it like camera bodies and lenses where you have several different mount types?

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are OEM “Original Equipment Manufacturer” headers which are built to fit their brand of combine only. There are independent manufacturers that build heads as well. In order to use an independent built headers use adapter plates to fit on each brands feeder house.
