I remember getting a toy tractor from a Case IH dealer back then and the invoice said " Nothing kills a Deere like a Magnum ".
I was just 3 years old when this video came out. I remember when these tractors were new. The nostalgia of this video brings me back in time...
Boxcar Magnums are the best tractors ever made.

The best indeed!! The 7140 is my all time favorite tractor!!!
These Cummins powered tractors built the great reputation of CaseIH and the newest tractors without the Cummins engines will year that reputation down
I remember seeing very first new Magnum tractor, a 7120, at the Case IH dealer in Medicine Hat Alberta in December 1987.
Thanks for putting this up!
My pleasure!
Awesome tractors. The powershift transmission was built by Ih back in early 80s
very good thanks for sharing, i look forward to more!!!!!
If I could own the first 7140 ever. Add that would be awesome
Love the videos. Keep them coming!
Will do!
The Tenneco owned caseih had good tractors and farm equipment!
Back when Case made good equipment before the Fiat Times
I wonder what was deere building at the same time?
I'd say they were building there 7000 series. Which were bulletproof aswell
So would the IH company come out with this Tractor, without the buyout? I always thought the Cab seemed like a Case 90 series. Spent 3000 hrs in a 7130 hauling Shit. When I was 15 up
Yes. The majority of this tractor was IH design. Last minute in the merger they added some Case inspired design to the cab, and added a CDC engine (Cummins 8.3)
@@curtisk84 wow! Thanks!
The cab was an ih design ih was going g to release the magnum at the farm progress show in 1985 but then the buy out happened
@@flexicoil_farm_kid I think that was a rumor that the old IH people floated to save face. The IH people never wanted to admit that Tenneco through Case, saved them and designed the Magnum
@@RJ1999x It is not a rumour because Prototypes of the International 5488 exist which have nearly exactly the same side console as the Magnum.
I liked the 7140, but J.D had better tractors then and still today..
I will admit the equipment in my drive shed is mainly green. But the CaseIH dealer is only a half mile from my place. So I see a lot of Red rolling by 😊
I'm a mechanic at a JD dealership and farm with IH tractors.
@@bradjenkins932 I prefer working on a JD always.
@@francomtz7115 That go's without saying
@@francomtz7115 What do you blame: the magnum: less gentle levers? 7140 has a hell of an engine and a full power shift that lasts 12000H without worry. A 4955 JD, the full power could give out at 5000h. A farmer from France
