This might actually be the first dynasty warriors I've played that the morale system actually made some impact to the flow of the battle. I appreciate some of the mixture of Empires mechanics and DW9 skill system but retaining the general combos but it does hurt not having a full roster and battles beyond Chi Bi. But these are leading towards something pretty decent down the line for a DW10 (maybe). Here's hoping but demo was great fun!
OMG the demo looks so good! The voice acting is wonderful! And the gameplay is satisfying as hell! Can't wait for the full release! *Can't wait for most people to pursue Lu Bu day one...*
Already did. took me a minute and some strategy on Heroic. i slapped him eventually. On normal is was on my first try. I want them to buff him slightly or more in both Normal and hard though
I like how in this game there are other viable strategy to win the battles. For example, if you ignore the characters telling you to leave them behind so they will hold off the enemy advance while you go do the main objective and help them survive to move forward, they will join the main forces and even open up a new advantage later. Aiding Sun Jian and Liu Bei will provide new advantages in the battle if you get to them in time and help them in this fight. Both of them will advance to the North outpost and provide a ambush advantage for the final encounter.
I continually check to see if Koei dropped vids and every time they do my hype level increases. Relatively beginner to the Musou genre (Hyrule Warriors/AoC). This is a day 1 purchase for me.
@@RenegadeVile nah im sorry i dissagree strong i got like 300hrs in dw9 this is more like a mixture to me just in this demo of dw8+dw9+wolong fallen dynasty in a way. Tbh i only prefer the focus on the battle aspect of the game more its almost like playing romance of the three kingdoms inside dynasty warriors with the look of wolong
@@kristophirlewis2076 I platinum'ed DW9 (not sure why I put myself through that) and while the game wasn't terrible, it really was a very shallow experience. Shallow combat mechanics. Shallow territory control mechanics. Shallow open world mechanics. Koei needs to consolidate its efforts and focus. Every time they either do something totally different, or try to broaden the focus too far, it ends poorly. And that's not coming from someone who insists on every game being identical. DW7 is one of my favorites simply because it improved so much on DW5 and changed quite a few things. A hypothetical DW10 can go much further. But the core needs to stay the same. (unique inputs for each weapon anyone?)
What an absolute b@llbuster! Everyone who said Dynasty Warriors and musou games as a whole were getting easy ... Omega Force has granted your wish. It has seem like an eternity since I struggled with a musou game and I enjoyed every minute of it. Looking forward to the full release of Origins in January!
Played the shit out of the demo and I CANNOT wait for this game to drop .. so nostalgic and it’s how I imagined I was playing the series way back then 😂
This feel fresh. Dynasty Warriors was in need of a glow up, and I feel it delivered. You can't just rush in blindly with even power levels anymore... duels are an awesome addition/return to the series, fending off enemy tactics keeps things busy and the "Hyper" Warriors (AKA Lu Bu in this instance) really force you to use the mechanics the game offers to bring down. Even normal soldiers can feel threatening now in large numbers. I am sold.
Was genuinely amazed that my first foray into the demo, on Normal, resulted in me failing the mission because Yuan Shao fell in battle due to not utilizing myself and managing enemy officers properly...in about 5 minutes no less. Lu Bu also fucking slaps I love it, DW has never been closer to a state of being "so fucking back" as they seem to be right now because goddamn this demo was fantastic. Definitely getting the game on launch!
Got to see the game myself, and I have to say, thank god the gameplay is similar to Samurai Warriors 5. It's the most dynamic, and I appreciate that they reused the same combat system. I did notice that Gongsun has eyes compared to all other generic officers even if he wears the same gear, so that might be important to notice, as it may mean taht he does have some importance.
I can't wait for dynasty warriors origins hopefully they will make a dynasty warriors origins empire game/campaign mode like in total war games in the future
I glad this on both ps and xbox got to play it...and oh boy ..im alittle worried how fast your allies can just lose ..unless you go in the right spot for your allies. Like if you start with liu bei group it seems like everyone else gets cooked but if you start at sun jian it gets easier
I played the demo on hard and it was hard 🗿 but still my preorder is in. dynasty warriors is like a guilty pleasure game of mine so I’m an absolute sucker for this one
So replayed this a few times. I got a lot of thoughts so far. Positvily on hard the Morale is like the make or break. You may be suppose to be a one man army but you arent that just by brute force alone you gotta be smart about it. You cant ignore your allies in this one it has an impact on the battle field really like i actually managed to intercept Xu Rongs ambush without Sun Jian noticing which didnt drop Morale. Was good it wasnt just scripted but your input mattered. Also its really disheartening at the start how many allies fall but it felt soo good beating the odds. Combat at first felt quite awkward and a lot at once for my boomer brain with evade, parry, abilities and so on but managed to adjust later Now concerns. It may be me but many of the Voice actors dont sound as commital all sound rather monotone in this demo which... i dunno removes the magic of a DW. It may also be me but they all sound way too similar that it lacks umpf. I hope this is just them using the first batch of voice files on english and we gonna get it better at the full game (which may be rough tbh) But we shall see. Out of the weapons I enjoyed the Podao more it has solid impact and speed that fit my style personally Neat thing who your companion is also affects your starting position.
This is awesome it a combination of all their spinoff systems, shield breaks, executions, etc. Also come on man lu just spawned and immediately bitch slaped me 😭

The combat's great, but the battle's themselves are boring. The story doesn't seem to really play out during the battle. For example, I was expecting some objectives about getting supplies to Sun Jian, or reinforcing Yuan Shu, but nothing of the sort happens.
