I liked being able to play as all major or even minor characters like in the previous games

And it's a bit disappointing

However I must admit that most characters are npcs

DW2 had the best difficulty of them all....I LIKED the more realistic "Go to far at your own peril" play. I wish they would have kept adding characters like they did as well as new moves ect but had kept the vibe and difficulty of the first game with each installment. The presentation, cut scenes, character moments were all spot on.3,4, and 5 were great don't get me wrong....But the ONLY reason I would play those more are the officer additions as DW2 feels really lacking in unique personalities. My "dream" DW would be the difficulty of DW2, the variety of stages from the latter games, and every named officer having a unique model (whether playable or not).

Its been 4 months but we haven't heard news from Craig...

nope not having chronical mode in 4 2 killed it for me i love chronical mode taking it out is a huge let down so ill stick to 4 vanilla

Kingdom of Wei, then jin. Wei was there for the people and had leader whose ambition, while unspecified, was more caring of the people's live. It openly challenged the current regimes before shu and wu. They feel like they were always for the people till Cao cao perished. After that i think Sima Yi being forced to take action after Cao Cao's heirs became unruly, I felt hopeful with the cast of jin to return the people to the state of self sustainability and democratic government that was psuedo implemented.

⭐️ Best of Zhang Liao's Hefei appearances: ✅️ Strongest: DW6, in terms of damage, that one can instantly kill you with just 2 or 3 shots ✅️ Tankiest: DW4, equivalent to Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate, it will take hours for you to defeat you ✅️ Storytelling: DW5, the opening cinematic cutscene and in-battle dialogues show you exactly how great of a warrior and a leader he is ✅️ Weakest: DW7, this particular battle of DW7 portrays him more as a wise tactician, not leaning to his strength of an incredible warrior

Can you list all the characters that never changed their weapon type? Lu Bu always use Halberd and ZhaoYun use Dragon spear.

As a SW5 fan I would have been happy even with as much as second place. But I am so glad to see Honnoji in 5 getting some recognition for its raw emotional, character and story culmination. I will straight admit that I am biased. Having gotten into this period through other media that hyper-focused on Nobunaga and having liked Mitsuhide from before in Nobunagas Ambition (thereby not feeling particularly bad over the loss of some characters) I am glad to see it doing well in a department it focused a lot on from the beginning at the very least. Also in regard to your complaints about the visuals getting a little hectic during combat: I agree with you when I watch the footage in the video. But for some reason, I don't feel that way when I play the same stage on PC. I am not sure if maybe its a hardware or graphics thing? Honnoji in 5 is pretty apocalyptic in both its feel of the battle and visuals (A bonus I would say) so I can see how it's easy to lose oneself in it, but it's interesting to see I might not have had the same feeling as you for some unknown reason.

Can you upgrade the weapon?

Zhang Liao's my Top5 characters from DW3-5, even in the newer DW6-8 he's still good but him being a rival of Guan Yu in the Warriors-series' canon in DW3-5 is so damn cool.

You definitely shouldve finished dynasty warriors 3 he fei. Thats the lvl Tashi Ci died by Liao's hands.

In DW4 you have the opportunity to kill Zhang Liao before he retreats in the center its more along the lines of a ghost variant that has maxed out defense. He still shows up for the second fight if you successfully kill him the first time around.

Hefei defenders: "We should've bought Lu Bu while we had the chance!" "We had Lu Bu at home." Zhang Liao proceeds to rout 100,000 enemies.

I'm currently waiting for DW8: Empires Craig's Adventure.

Ah Zhang Liao, my beloved. He's been my favourite DW character for years.

DW2: Always found his intro cutscene kinda funny, how the Wu soldiers go around the corner only to come back running with him after them. It's like a cartoon. DW3: I'm sure people have already told you by now, the *real* Zhang Liao encounter only triggers once Sun Quan retreats & jumps the bridge (which only occurs if Wu's army is 'struggling', usually after losing an allied general). DW4: Thought I could preempt him by waiting in Wu's main camp one time, only to discover that by triggering the special bonus from clearing the previous 2 fights in Wu's story, Sun Jian actually decided NOT to escape over the bridge...which meant Zhang Liao simply reappeared right where he started. DW5: Trading quality for quantity, making ol' Liao relatively easy but forcing you to fight him 4 times to make him stay down. A neat little stage gimmick. DW6: Easily the least pressing of his pre-DW7 encounters since he appears so far away from Sun Quan, giving you plenty of time to cut him off & take him down. DW7: Meh. Could never really take 'boss' battles too seriously in that game since the story mode is so railroaded. Even the XL Legend Mode version is just a rehash of his DW5 iteration. DW8: You played the 'hypothetical' version of the battle, where Wu manages to counter Zhang Liao's strategies at each turn and actually take He Fei Castle in the end (which is why there were hardly any cutscenes). The 'historical' version is the one we're familiar with. DW9: You weren't missing much by skipping it for this challenge, Liao is just another officer with slightly above average stats. On top of that, there's a side mission that lets you protect the bridge Sun Quan retreats to once sh*t hits the fan, prematurely ending the battle once he passes through. Weak.

Back when 4-II was released (first time I had to do buy US PSN giftcards, since the game released like 45 days later on my region, due to some rating shenanigans) and I had like 115 hours of SW 4 on PS3. I noticed all the little tweaks in gameplay that they did in 4-II, so I appreciated the game in a whole, but I liked 4 more because of the Chronicles mode, which were like 80% of my playtime in SW 4. Much later I re-bought 4-II on PS4, but was unable to buy the 4 because for some reason, SW 4 is unreasonably high priced on Brazilian's Playstation Network (much beyond the 40 USD on the US Store). Also, appreciated the video, because well.. It's good for those who don't know and call musou the XXX YYY games.

The event in DW3 happens when <ZhangLiao ambushes Tai Shici> in the middle and kills him, then ZhangLiao retreats. Later if Wu is in a disadvantage(low moral) Sun Quan will command Wu Force to fall back, then you may approach Sun Quan to trigger the <jump over the bridge> event. After that you can just wait for ZhangLiao to jump on SunQian. And to kill ZhangLiao in this event is actually the way to get item <Buckler>

Man this game brings back memories~ me and my bro having a guide open for the final weapons and items in DW5XL. Back then we didnt have a computer or anything, so we had to use the ps3 Internet and switch back and forth between sources. We only found out the weapons even existed because we accidentally got Sun Ce's weapon (Zhou Yu's was far more stupid to get)

this feels like the most scuffled challenge yet with how many times things aren't going the way they should for it. I'll say it, I'm not too sure this is too great of a vid, more so considering IAkutoGamer did a more clean and through version of it.

That time when Gan Ning and Zhang Liao worked together in Warriors Orochi is also my favorite He Fei stage.

It took a long while before I mastered the art of circling his musou to make it usable on officers. up against walls in 4/5 you can actually get insane damage with it on officers. But it took so many hours to get there. truly a goofball musou. But it really does make him run like a river.

That Sea Master Musou attack earned Gan Ning the title, The Lawn Mower. Super OP in DW3, but nerfed in 4 & 5, sort of. Power alone, DW3 Gan Ning is God tier. But best overall, it is DW6 Gan Ning. Twin daggers moveset version of him was my favorite dual wield, not just in DW6, all of Warriors games.

You basically beat the normal version of Zhang Liao in 3. If you want the powered up version and the cutscene of him going at Sun Quan, you need him to defeat Taisi Chi and then he will retreated for a while, then he will appear near Sun Quan after Quan jumped the bridge and retreated to the main camp
