i know it's been two months since you posted this video but as a 8 - 9 year old child barracks was my favorite tower and I'm glad to first see someone else playing the game after so long, and secondly you using the barracks thank you
I did that challenge way back (and I thought lvl 3 was the hardest by a long shot). I can confidently say you chose the wrong hero. Gerald is basically made for that challenge with the group buff for the soldiers and great damage against high armor enemies. I personally always liked having 1-2 holy knights in front of the barbarians but that surely doesn't matter all that much.
i think i did it with the archer for this challenge because i like micro managing her. She helps a lot against aerial units, early on. I can't remember shit though because it was so long ago
I know the real morgan commented to use spiked armor, but it is really good. The damage reflected by the spike armor is true damage and ignores all armor, this would have made the dark slayers much easier

I'm sure you already know this, but for the 2nd winter level you can free the sasquatch in his cave by dropping rain of fire on the ice he's in and hire him to fight for you. He's pretty expensive, like 500 I think, but it's still a pretty fun feature the developers have. Also would definitely add content.
For the Citadel, get all upgrade starts you can get on previous levels by beating their iron and heroic challenges. Then you'll have enough to max out spears and barracks. Spiked armor is worth it! That's how I beat it with level one barracks, and how I beat it with just barbarians. Good luck!

1:10 The hp is doubled. The damage average goes from 2 to 3.5, almost double and they gain low shield (forgot how it was called). They are not twice as good, they are almost 4x better. Doubling the health and almost doubling damage isn't 2x better, it's 4x (plus, there's the increase in armor so).
You're comparing it to the wrong idea, and are also forgetting that a new barracks has other stats that makes it better. Also, doubling two stats doesn't make it 4x better, it makes it 2x better. If you only doubled one of two stats, it would only be 1.5x better. Think of it with any other number. If you have 10 and 10, and you double both of them to get 20 and 20, that's an increase from 20 --> 40, which is only double. Also, a new barracks allows you to stall 3 additional units, which is hard to put a number to that value, since each wave is a different amount of units, blah blah blah, but that alone is a stat to consider. Also, you can use numbers in a similar way to compare building a new barracks to upgrading the current one. The following numbers start with the stats for a level 1 barrack and then show the difference made by upgrading or building a new barracks: New barracks (70 gold): Avg. Damage: 2 --> 4 Health (total): 150 --> 300 Number of units: 3 --> 6 Armor: none --> none Upgrading barracks (110 gold): Avg. Damage: 2 --> 3.5 Health (total): 150 --> 300 Number of units: 3 --> 3 Armor: none --> low While a level 2 barracks might be a better building and only use one plot of land, it isn't worth as much as a new barracks. Once you have the amount of units you can fit in an area though, yes upgrading is definitely great. These numbers are probably why he found it easier to do with multiple level 1 barracks instead of fewer level 2s. Respawn rates stay the same so there isn't really any point in comparing them, that just factors into how many units are stopped. Let me explain: Imagine you have a character in a game that does 2 damage every second and because of the amout of health is has it will survive for 10 seconds. Which would equal to 20 damage in total (Also, yeah, I'm just using random numbers to make it easier to understand). If you doubled the damage or the health it would become 40 damage in total, but, do you know what happens if you double both? 4 damage per second over 20 seconds would be 80 damage total, 4 times more than 20. So yeah, it is 4x when you double both stats. Your example doesn't work because the barracks NEED health to do damage. The numbers aren't disconnected, you need it alive to do damage. Let me examplify with a question: Which is better? Two characters with 100 hp doing 2 damage each or one with 200 doing 4? It depends on the scenario, obviously, overdamaging is a thing, but in most cases one character is better because, if you kill one member of the duo, the dps is cut in half. That's why the upgrade is 4x, because the extra health over just more units means the dps will not be cut down. Plus, enemies that deal area damage would destroy spam, but have harder time with units that have more health. The upgrade doubles their damage, doubling their damage, obviously. But it doubling their hp means they will continue to do damage for much longer, your dps wil ltake longer to decrease, to the point of you dealing double the total amount of damage. That mixed with the whole thing that I explained about enemies that do area damage and the fact that the upgrade GIVES THEM ARMOR, means that yes, it's more than 2x actually.
@@tpfoxCastro You could also say they respawn half as fast, which is what I mentioned at the end. That makes them more prone to oneshots, because 3 100hp targets die twice as fast as 6 50 hp targets. You're underestimating and misrepresenting the quantity advantage. You're correct that each individual soldier is better, yeah, and I agree. The overall value of the tower is worse though, and you can see that in the video. If levelling up a barracks was 4x better than a level 1 barracks, then his levelling up strat should have worked better. Even if you don't look at the numbers, the results indicate that more level 1 barracks is better than less level 2 barracks, which means math to support less level 2 barracks has to be faulty in some manner. I'm not trying to make it a fight lmao, again, just got free time.

That's crazy, I honestly would not have thought this would be possible. A fun challenge run I've been trying recently has been in Kingdom Rush: Frontiers, to finish the campaign with 3 stars per level (no extra stars before each level) and using each new hero as it becomes available instead of focusing on just 1 and training it to max. I'm thinking of it as a sort of "full canon" run, and it is not all that easy.

I always had a strat of putting 2 barrackback-to'b-back and making the front one knights to tank and deal magic damage and then the barbs behind for ranged support and prevent leaks.
idk if I missed some reason why you chose him, but Malik is way worse than Gerald against armoured units, seeing as Gerald can reflect the damage of attacks, it makes him able to kill dark slayers incredibly quickly. Also Barbarians should only be used to fight the flying units, the end upgrade for barracks spiked armour makes paladins be a lot more efficient at doing damage because of how much longer it takes for them to die, so a good idea for a strategy is paladins as meat shields and barbarians throwing axes from behind. Seeing as you still won anyway this isnt that important, but since you were playing on normal, that might be better for veteran. Nice video! I love Kr.

Challenge suggestion: No magic at all (no Armageddon/Magic tower/...), even no that magic strike by Knights. No more than one archer tower per level, single hero per campaign (you can't change heroes, but it's allowed to choose whatever non-magic hero you want). Number of gems that you can use to get gold in the level is sum of all your gems, earned for previous 2 levels (normal+challenge+ironman), and total number of gems it's sum of gems for the last 6 levels (you can use the rest of the gems to buy only the dynamite). Whatever types of Barracks are allowed. No artillery. Maybe it's impossible at high levels, so, as far as possible.

Here is an other challenge idea : "Can you beat Kingdom Rush but you only have one instance (per level) of every tower." So, if you built a barbarian tower, no other barbarian tower are allowed on the level.

That could be really interesting, I was just watching samples 100% blindfold run of PvZ and it looked like hell, but it’s a great idea.
I'm surprised you don't utilise a strat of templars in front, barbarians in back more often! Was that ever a consideration?
I would put the templars in the back for healing and to block anyone coming through, or center depending the healing range.

Here is an other challenge idea : "Can you beat Kingdom Rush but you only have one instance (per level) of every tower."
So, if you built a barbarian tower, no other barbarian tower are allowed on the level.
My friend(a new player)spammed baracks and was asking me why he wasn't winning and l told him that baracks are god for only stalling,l guess l will have to retract that statememt of mine......

Aren't Paladins better against armoured enemies? I think their Holy strike ignores armour.
I have no idea actual stats I just think the barbarians are cooler and generally did more damage.

there is a mission where you defend the castle and there are a flying bats and the knights don't have a ranged attacks so it is what it is
