"To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels" My favorite line of all time.
ex 49er Kapershit hates that line. lol
Yeah!!! For some strange reason, this was the first time I picked up that line. What gem.
@@susiestone5644 Written like a true moron. Sinatra is singing about going against the status quo, and defying what they tell him to do... kind of like Kaepernick.
@@JamesInDigital Kapershit was/is a loser crying about losing his starting QB spot. Sinatra was a winner singing about winning. Kapershit 'thinks' getting 25 million a year(4-5 months season) to play with balls, is just like being a slave. BTW dummy, you miss the point of the line, that only losers/cowards kneel, so why listen to them. lol
@@susiestone5644 Proving just how stupid you are by interpreting it incorrectly. Might want to look up Sinatra's stances on a lot of issues. Just because you're old and white you think he would align with you. He was pro Muslim sovereignty, against organized religion, and progressive on a whole host of other issues. Dumb people like you are blissful in their ignorance.
As a PROUD ITALIAN Man 🇮🇹 Frank Sinatra is the voice of my people , and seeing you both appreciate this song , I would like to adopt you both as honorary ITALIAN's 🇮🇹
Don’t forget Luciano Pavarotti.
Se solo gli italiani vivessero con la filosofia di sta canzone…

Frank may be Italian but he has SOUL.👍🏽(I’m African American and love Frank).
Does anyone else get emotional when they hear him sing this? When people talk about musical arrangement, this is what they're talking about. Full orchestra... classic to remain classic. Love this ❤️
Well if people who know Pat Patterson is then it's definitely gonna be emotional for them
Yes... chills all over and I told me daughter this is my song...when I'm gone...
I first knew this song from the sex pistols and i apologize.
Paul Anka's tribute to the great Sinatra..they thought bobbiesocksers had to cede to the new rock and roll neophytes coming on to the scene..truly the greatest phraser of the 20th century for sure!!
When Gatorade used this in the Jeter commercial that got me a bit.
He wasn't nicknamed "THE VOICE" without reasons... his voice his pure emotion and gives chills
Sinatra, as well as having that Voice, was also a consummate musician. Not that he played an instrument but that he was very conscious of how he fit into the song with the rest of the instruments. He always hired the best musicians as well.
I want to thank you for this reaction. My brother was a huge Frank Sinatra fan. He was a firefighter who was lost on 9/11. He was also a Registered Nurse, a Captain in the Army Reserves and a Black Belt in Karate. He died running back into the buildings to try to bring another firefighter out of the Towers. This was his song and we as his family feel this was how he lived his life. He had regrets, he made mistakes, he was by no means perfect but at 34 he accomplished so much more than most do in a lifetime and he died a hero. "To think I did all that and may I say, not in a shy way.". That was my brother. Larger than life. Again, thank you for this.
Hugs!
🤘and my absolutley respect from nothern Germany.
@@ralfmeyer9086 thank you so much.
@@johnlewandowski8624 thank you!
@@kammi5205 You're SO welcome!
This was supposed to mark Sinatra's retirement in the 60s when singers like him were pushed aside by rock and rollers. Of course , he came back in a big way.
My Mom's song 🎵.... miss her everyday, RIP mama, you definitely did it your way❤
My grandfathers favorite song. It was played at his funeral, and i always think of him when i hear it ...
I tend to forget how wonderful Frank was...perfect diction, perfect pitch, perfect mood and expression...etc. Thanks for the reminder, kids!
Please forgive me for a 2nd comment. I’m 60 so I grew up listening to him as my parents played loved him and played his albums. He’s probably one of the only singers. That never recorded in a sound booth. He would stand right on the studio floor in front of the orchestra. ❤️
"Fly Me To The Moon" is my favorite song by Frank. If you haven't heard it yet, you should check it out.
Another good one “That’s Life”
So much fun with these young people listening to the Best! There Waking up America Canada 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Fly Me to the Moon a favorite of mine. I learned of Frank Sinatra because of my Mom...she liked "Send in the Clowns".
Check out starlight by Dave
Summer wind is my favorite
Gotta love the one line right after the first rise in the song. It goes “I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried, I’ve had my fair share of losing… and now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing.” This line may be the most relatable line I’ve ever heard. It’s like looking back on tough classes, classes where I nearly was broke as a result of an assignment and trying to pass at all costs with straight A’s. Looking back, I joke often about these classes to all my friends and make fun of what I’ve done.
What a great song! He lived his life with few regrets, and lived it the way he wanted. His way. It's an anthem for living life on your own terms. My wife calls songs like this grown folks music.
If a person has any feeling rather than being a robot, it should be impossible to not feel something when listening to this of such an iconic song and the singer singing it. You listen to this, you listen to Elvis version and they are both masterpieces. It was truly fitting that thankfully Elvis and Sinatra did that tv collaboration singing together cause it is impossible to think of anyone else that would have had the gravitas of vocal impact to carry the emotions that this song dictates beyond Frank Sinatra and then Elvis for this song and the meaning of its lyrics. Sinatra performed this right into his latter years and considering the life he had which certainly had its eventful periods, as the song says it was his way!
One of the most beautiful songs by Frank, and one of the most beautiful in general, is "Strangers in the Night". You should definitely react to that.
Such mixed emotions with this classic. It was a staple of Fridays with Frank and Sunday with Sinatra on the radio in Philly growing up, which of course brings up so many fond family memories. On the other side of the coin, they played it as we all were leaving the church, after a close friends funeral mass , who had passed on 9/11. Come to think of it, he loved it too, and there were way more times of celebrating with Frank in the background than mourning on that day . Rest In Peace Paulie! Thanks for the reaction and trip down memory lane. Glad you guys enjoyed!!
Word for word this is my father. We played it at his funeral.
One of my moms favorite. Listening to 78’s on an old Victrola. Back in the day the Big Bands ruled accompanied by some great singers. No autotune just awesome talent. I still have their 78’s dating back to 40’s and 50’s. Never could get up the courage to get rid of them.😞
My Dads favourite also played at his funeral thank you for playing this its brought a tear to my eye. Love you dad and miss you so much give mum a big kiss for me untill we meet again.
One of my favorite artists. I’m only 45, but damn I love old stuff like Sinatra.
Asia & BJ,It is so nice and special to see that younger people such as yourselves listen, appreciate, love older music without any pre-conceived notions. You are touching upon music from my Grandparents, my Mom and myself times. I think they would've loved your reactions. Listening and liking the music keeps them as classics. They stand the test of time. It's also important to learn about history. To keep the good things and build upon them. Test everything retain what is good.
I suggest Elvis and Paul Anka's versions. Frank and their renditions sound very similar. They all did the song justice.
Much success, blessings, love, hope come your way.
Always gets me this song. Played it at my Grandads funeral last year and just has a huge emotional hit to it.
This song was written for Frank Sinatra by the great Paul Anka! A Canadian who had a very successful career of his own. Ol’ Blue Eyes… The legend!‼️👏
Timeless...it`s a timeless song. Then, now, & in the future...those words will always be relevant. Just Timeless. A True Classic.
Frank Sinatra always appreciated musicians. In the 40s, 50s and 60s he always had integrated bands
I love that you’re exploring so much great music from the different genres and eras. And you can spot quality when you see it!
My way was composed and written by two French song writers. With consent from these men Paul Anka aquired the song and back in New York he re-wrote the song for Sinatra slightly altering the melody and changing the lyrics. He said:
"At one o'clock in the morning, I sat down at an old IBM electric typewriter and said "If Frank were writing this, what would he say?" And I started, "And now the end is near." I read a lot of periodicals and noticed everything was "my this" and "my that." We were in the "me generation" and Frank became the guy for me to use to say that. I used words I would never use: "I ate it up and spit it out." But that's the way he talked. I used to be around steam rooms with the Rat Pack guys-they liked to talk like Mob guys, even though they would have been scared of their own shadows."
Although this work became Frank Sinatra's signature song, his daughter Tina says the singer came to hate the song. "He didn't like it. That song stuck and he couldn't get it off his shoe. He always thought that song was self-serving and self-indulgent."
I think Frank was right in that assessment. I enjoy the vocals but it’s clearly a celebration of individualism
@@chemquests There is nothing wrong with celebrating your hard work and achievements.
It’s not individualist, it’s called proud, and there is also nothing wrong with sharing that.
@@Lustie while I agree there’s nothing wrong with celebrating achievement, I use the term individualistic to indicate taking all the credit, as if anything is ever achieved alone. In that song it’s not just the achievements being celebrated but specifically the way he did it, Frank is right that it’s self-indulgent to applaud yourself in that way. What’s worse is that our culture celebrates individualism in just this way.
@@chemquests Maybe true. But ironically that's one of the main things the public adored about Frank- his tough stick-it-to-the-world mentality. Yet at the same time, he was a very caring person.
My dad plays this every year after he finishes people’s taxes I always think of him when I hear this song
The French song 'Comme d'habitude' with the lyrics rewritten by Paul Anka.
Wonderful song, wonderfully sung by
Mr Sinatra.
Guys love you both. I truly enjoy the chemistry you both share together. Songs from this genre. Are timeless, Sinatra’s a man who entertained countless generations. And BJ, from one man to another. I think every man would like to have lived his life this way. As always an excellent reaction. I just want to say Thank You to both of you ❤️
The Way You Look Tonight, personal fave of his.
This song is at the origin a french song by Claude François: comme d'habitude........
It was a very good year is the most poignant song and so beautiful. Too marvellous for words is when you found that special woman. His voice was one of kind. Legendary.
Beautiful, ageless song. There will never be another Sinatra.
This song was written by Paul Anka, but Frank made it his own. Those lyrics, powerful and truthful.
Great choice, great reaction.
Written by Claude François and Gilles Thibaut, music by Jacques Revaux. Adapted to English by Paul Anka.
Not the greatest 'singing' voice in the world, but he had such charisma and genuine life experiences you can't help listening to his words. Amazing 😎
You can do better?
Wrong. Bing Crosby saidl" a voice like that comes along once in a lifetime . Why did it have to be my lifetime?" Great line.
Frank defined the WWII Generation. Was as big as Elvis in his day. He lead the famous Rat Pack. Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. Peter Lawford.
Just A rich classic smooth and clear GREAT voice!
Sinatra's voice for most of my early life is one I considered overrated because adult's music was, of course, fugly to the max. But as a adult I came around to realize that he is very near to if on top as our greatest vocalist. The man could have a classic singing the phone book. Admit it. The truth will set you free. Just as it did me.
Your kidding Elvis voice was far superior to Sinatra voice, also Elvis version of my way kills Sinatra version sorry!!!!
@@seamuslannon6972 Seamus, you ain't nothing but a hound dog. Dream on. LOL.

Thats Life, Summer Wind, Cycles, New York New York, Strangers in the Night, Fly me to the Moon and oh so many more. THE ultimate crooner. Voice/tone control unbelievable. His voice just grabs you and is hypnotizing.
Love, Fly me to the moon, but you guys should do this live when he announced his retirement and this was the last song he sang in front a live audience! Awesome! Frank is sooo great!!
Everytime I hear this song I am reminded of the day I said goodbye to my dad. He loved this song, so I have been listening to this sinds 2004 and it's still the best
Total legend. Frank's best stuff was anything done for Capital Records in the 50s. Incredible swing stuff that's probably better than any rock (or anything else) that came after.
My dad's favorite .. Rest in Paradise Dad
If you’re Italian & grew up in Jersey this song makes your eyes tear up every time , funny enough my favorite uncle Frank grew up 2 doors down from Sinatra in Hoboken . Small world .
Just awesome, Louis Armstrong is very talented and same type of music What A Wonderful World , Hello Brother, A man Wants To Work, hope your day is good
I'm with Sally Sharp...."Fly Me To The Moon"....awesome song!! It was in the movie "Space Cowboys"!!! 🎶🎼🎵🥁🎸🎹🎧🎙🎤💜
Paul Anka wrote this for Sinatra. You need to check out Paul Anka catalog. He is still doing live shows. Check out, Puppy Love, Put Your Head On My Shoulder, Lonely Boy.
In fact, the original was composed and sung by a french singer ( Claude Francois) and was called “Comme d’habitude”. Check it out!
Bj you were on track with your reaction. Frank will always be one of the top singers in history. His voice and the orchestra were fantastic. 👍
Quency Jones, did most of Frank's arrangements...Quency was young up coming, they were good friends.
When I listened to this song you know it's Quency
Enjoying your Channel 🤗
quincy.
This is Frank " Blue Eyes" Sinatra song , it's so autobiographical of his life. R.I.P we love you ❤️. They played this at his funeral ⚱️😢😭
December 12, 1915 - May 14, 1998 ( 82 ) LIVED LIFE YOUR WAY!! Every time I hear this song, I think of him😢😭💔.
I grew up in the late 60,s 70,s and my music was the music of my generation , but every time i walked in the house my mom would have Frank ,Ella , Dean , Nat ,Doris and big band playing all the time . I grew to love them all , Asia i think would love Sinatra / Fly me to the Moon or I've got you under my skin.
Very good thoughts and comments about this song. It was easily one of Sinatra's most successful songs. For me, I just love his 1965 hit, "Strangers in the Night". It reminds me of my beautiful mom who used to play it on the large stereo console, and then she would dance throughout the living room. Precious memories. A great romantic song, done by the best crooner. The orchestral arrangement is sheer perfection too. Definitely check it out.💖
Sinatra was given this song by fellow artist Paul Anka whom had bought it after hearing a local guy playing it in a hotel lobby somewhere at the French riviera. Paul Anka says he bought the song with FS in mind who at this time was fed up with showbiz and more or less just wanted to leave it all behind him. When PA returned to America he looked up Sinatra and presented the song which Sinatra absolutely loved! This song became like Sinatra's anthem the song he ended every concert with for the rest of his life.
Not a man alive that wouldn't like this played at his funeral. I watched a post where a guy analyzed Frank's singing on a pitch identifying computer, and his sense of pitch is near miraculous. Always hits the perfect pitch, slides right into it like nobody else. He did have such a smooth voice, the GOAT.
My grandpa was on hospice and listened to this sing on repeat. We played it at his funeral. Miss you Gramps
His "It was a Very Good Year" is my favorite songs.
For many of us oldies it's rather strange to think you're hearing this for the first time. But it will never leave you now and you will never tire of it.
May I suggest an oldie - not quite as old as Frank - who has a song with a great deal of relevance today, even more so in the last few weeks, and it has always been a favourite of mine:
Neil Sedaka - The Immigrant
This is my dads favorite song and it always brings me to tears. Always. Thanks for reacting to this.....
Love your "Poetic Justice" sweatshirt Asia!!! Orange really makes you sparkle... it's a really beautiful colour on you!!!
He was a complete perfectionist. There are documentaries on TH-cam and Netflix and probably the other streaming services too. He had his hand in all his arrangements and Quincy Jones was one of his favorite composer/arranger. I love listening to him sing anything and tell stories. He is fun to dive into and you come away with even more music knowledge than you thought you were going to learn.
One of the most unique and greatest voices ever. A true icon.
I agree with all you said. You two are two very wise people. Luv the channel.
One of the greatest singers of the 20th Century 🎤🎶👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏾

This song is SO me! Frankie was raw talent and New York's finest!
This was written by a famous singer named Paul Anka. After he
thought hard and long about the lyrics, he realized that Frank Sinatra
was the one to make this his signature song, for it fits Frank's life
like a glove.
Did you folks know this was initially a foreign song in a foreign language? What happened was the composer of its English lyrics heard its foreign version and then adopted it into English
Not many people know that "My Way" is a cover of a famous french song " Comme d'Habitude" by Claude François (written by Jacques Revaux).
Paul Anka was touring in France at the time, loved that french song, bought the rights , and sing it first in the USA. His rival Frank Sinatra wanted to sing it too, and his cover was more popular than the Anka's one.
Anyway, "Comme d'Habitude" became the most popular french song on earth. It has been covered 1327 times by 570 different artists in the world, and still couting.
Cheers from France!

My grandfather's favorite song. It was played at his funeral. Great song!!
FRank Sinatra did indeed do ut his way! He defied the age limit and was popular from the the 1940's until his death. Besides being a wonderful singer, he was also an Oscar winning actor.
Listen to "somewhere in your heart" and "I got the world on a string" Two of his best songs
Just a unique song from a unique singer , written by Paul Anka . Great reaction 👏👏
Frank did it the "Cosa Nostra way".
A Frank Sanatra song that many people know as soon as it starts is"Love and Marriage" If you haven't reacted to this song put it in your list.
Can I get a "Whoa, Bundy!"? 😄
I love the bass trombone on this arrangement.
Sinatra is a man for all ages , race , religion, all can listen to with awe and chills. A man who broke down racism, a man’s man . Truly ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. Sinatra 4 life !
Check out "It Was a Very Good Year" by Frank also. Pairs with this song well.
every song he ever sang, you heard every word a true craftsman
I've heard this one at many funerals. Great song by a one of a kind kinda guy. Check out 'New York, New York' or 'the lady is a tramp'. This song describes him perfectly. He was the leader of the 'Rat Pack', with Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Peter Lawford & Joey Bishop, with the reputation of being affiliated with the mafia. He was a great singer & actor. Special voice & the swagger in his music was him through & through.
"New York, New York" (studio). Best version, BY FAR, ever!!
chip 1 ever vocals in the monde , tnks from brazil
Good reaction BJ & Asia. I believe Paul Anka wrote those lyrics specifically for Frank Sinatra and the tune was from a foreign song. I think a French song.
Frank Sinatra the Voice
Vocal Power, Quality and Clarity.
it's an adaptation of a French song and it's paul Anka who heard the French version and he decided to write the lyrics in English and proposed it to Frank Sinatra really like Nina Simone's version
If you don't get emotional when hearing this you are not human.
Great song!! Check out “One for my baby (and one more for the road)”. One of my favorites by Sinatra.
For your information. This song was written for him. His life and how he lived it. By Paul Anka.
Many have sang this but Frank and Elvis' versions stand head and shoulders above the rest. Each unique in their own way but a tie in likability. You should try Elvis' next. Hear for yourself. Aloha from Hawaii Concert.
I love you guys's reactions... You should look up the history on this song and see how this song came into Frank Sinatra's possession I heard it on another content creator and it's actually a very impressive story about how musicians back in those days did things without all the jealousy and accusing comments between musicians covering each other songs and people talking about oh this person stole that person's music...
It's a really impressive story to see that this song started out over I think in France or somewhere by a French composer and then a singer from back in the '50s Paul Anka obtained it did a little tweaking to it because he knew the song really wasn't for him and he offered it up to Frank Sinatra who made it a hit... Very gracious moves between musicians back in the day not too much of what you would probably see a lot of today... Also another version of this song that I really love and brings tears to my heart because I know his history and how he got treated and talked about during his career and then died young is Elvis Presley I think it was at his aloha tour critique his version you'll like it too because it totally encapsulates his life❤
This is one of Frank's greatest songs he ever recorded it's truly a masterpiece.
Frank Sinatra is one of my all-time favorite artist!!! An Icon.......A great Crooner of his time and our time!!!! I would like to see you guys Bj and Asia react to "I Got You Under My Skin" by Frank Sinatra.
Another tune by one of Franks' Canadian writers. This one is actually a French tune 'Comme d'habitude', translated by Paul Anka
I can't think of a song written that describes the singer more perfectly then this song. Only someone who knew Frank could have written this song as Paul Anka did.
I had a math teacher in high school that whenever a student would solve a problem in a different way than what they were shown, he would say "Oh, you did it like Franky Sinatra".
A classic, the old crooners rocked in their own way. 👌☮️✌️💕
If you guys like Frank, take another step back in time and listen to Dame Shirley Bassey, and she does a killer cover of "My Way" as well.
Goosebumps
.......PAUL ANKA!!!!!!!!........
Yes, it was Paul Anka who wrote and first recorded the song. Sinatra liked the song so much..... he made Paul an offer he couldn't refuse to obtain all rights to it.......
......(cue "Speak Softly Love".....aka....."The Godfather's Theme".......and a horse's head in the bed).
If you're digging this kind of vibe, check out Paul's first musical entry.....very "Doo-wop bubblegum".....but, extremely catchy.
........."Diana"........
Summer Wind is a very nice Sinatra song✨
One of the best songs of all time, definitely top 20
This song is from the musical "Man of La Mancha" based on the book by Cervantes.
