I reaeaaeally loved the idea of him being a sith back in the sequel trilogy. If that was the case, ahnd he flipped the entire narrative on it's head, it could have changed everyone's negative feelings about him to one of respect I think if done ahnd revealed properly.

Lightsaber Choreography was definitely the highlight of this episode.
It's sad to say that as they were still suffocated by plot. 5 Jedi masters don't use the force even once in a life-or-death situation. No attempts to overwhelm or hold him. All their strikes were delayed, slowed, held all together or thrown intentionally off target or at the opposing lightsaber instead of the open body for the sake making the villain look bad*ss against a large group. Not to mention the FOUR kicks between Sol and Jecki when they had an opening. No stabs. Every. Time. He's open - Kick. Several times Qimir's stationary lightsaber was aimed for instead of his body.

@@forpoczta Yes I have. It's interesting to think I've come as far was watching acolyte and not have seen 1-3. That's an interesting Question. Even more so, an interesting thought process to think that the fact and conclusion of them being expendable has any significance on the issues being presented. Someone being expendable doesn't mean the fighting should be consistently nonsensical or that those issues justify their send off being very badly choreographed. Those expendable Jedi losing to non force users only hurts the argument. Especially after games have shown, when they want to they can knock down a whole room with the force. It's unforgivable. If others choose to overlook and ignore these issues, fine. They have that right to and they can still enjoy it despite the flaws. But it's tiring that they argue that others should ignore it too and just enjoy it, or that they're being miserable for not overlooking it.

The lightsaber battles were well choreographed but the inconsistency in Qimir's power was so annoying. He legit massacred half a dozen masters but a padawan like Jecki can go toe to toe with him solo? Absolutely ridiculous.

@@fightclub6284 There are so many times I have said something like this in Star Wars, like in the Phantom Menace couldn’t Maul have just force pushed Kenobi down the shaft instead of like making sparks with his saber, or done a saber throw but I guess it wouldn’t serve the story.

1. The Sith obviously haven't been extinct for 1,000 years, it took 1,000 years of hiding and plotting for the Sith to regain their power and overthrow the Jedi.
2. I'm still expecting Qimir and the witch coven to be connected to Mother Abeloth. Abeloth is not a Sith, she is something far stronger.

I actually really like the way the writers are going. Imagine had Palpatine just been carried off by giant moths in ROTS when he fought Mace Windu. I think it would have added so much to the story...

I was trying to put my finger on what was wrong with the look of the Jedi. This is it. Looks like they got the Jedi uniform off of amazon or Walmart
The High Republic era had Jedi wearing different tunics/robes than their prequel counterparts...at least in the books. Funny observation but probably the least of our worries when it comes to this "masterpiece"
So, ugly sets, ugly costumes, empty Coruscant, no Yoda, no Wookiee fight... waiting to see where all that budget went!

It wasn't solid. It was decent. It was better than anything Disney has done so far, but to say it was solid would be to say it could hold its own if set beside the prequel fights. He didn’t actually say he’s a sith, he clearly said he isn’t, but that’s the closest thing to what he is that the Jedi would consider him. Though I do wanna say, the choreography was awesome, loved how fast and heavy the hits felt, the unarmed combat section, and seeing live action cortosis being used was great, especially as my first legends comic was Vader fighting those 5 Jedi, and one used a cortosis blade to short out Vaders saber, great stuff honestly. I personally find the choreography better than the prequels, at least phantom menace (which is my fav of the films) but if you look at them, they’re slower, more deliberate strikes, these are fast, light and heavy strikes, jabs are there, force augmented strikes are there, aiming for weak spots, idk, seemed pretty great in comparison.

Yeah I thought this was blatantly obvious, he makes it clear he doesn't give a fuck about labeling himself, but he explains that the Jedi order would label him as a Sith. However, If it does turn out he is in fact a Sith and has a master I would assume him saying he has no name would mean he hasn't been given one yet. He could be Darth Venamis, or one of the other many Sith that were around during this time. Who knows though? The show is in the mystery genre, I am excited to find out. The mystery is a huge reason why I love the show. I find it hilarious how fixated people are on one line in TPM. The Jedi were wrong about so many things and it would make total sense for them to be arrogant enough to actually believe The Sith are extinct, or of course if Ki was in on the cover up. Regardless, it's 1,000 fucking years, there were Sith in Canon during this time, and how is it even hard at all to imagine that during this time at least some people, Sith or not, trained in the ways of the darkside. The Acolyte is a great show I love it almost as much as Andor.
And his sarcastic comments about a padawan fighting better against a sith than a Jedi master did…. As if Obi Wan (padawan) didn’t kill Maul (sith) immediately after he killed Qui Gon (should have been Master but the Jedi sucked). This guys just becoming more and more hypocritical and whiny.

I have a teenage daughter and this is what I see every other day: "I love you," "I hate you," "we are best friends," "don't say her name around me," etc. I love this part because it makes me laugh every time I see her change her mind and believe she is so smart.
People also forget that Darth Maul says in TPM "At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi, at last we will have revenge".
I'm hoping this dude is an acolyte himself that's putting all the sith's 1000 year long plan in jeopardy and gets shit on in the end by his master or something but most likely not going to happen.

As someone with absolutely no dog in this race, I think it's pretty obvious he isn't a "Sith" in the traditional sense. He says the Jedi might or could call him a Sith. Meaning, that's how the Jedi would define him. But he introduces himself as nobody. He is someone who has come into his dark side powers and has searched the Galaxy for a way to explain them -- and that's how he found the Sith teachings. The helmet design tells me they're trying to tie this character into the Knights of Ren. Or maybe he also found their influences throughout his research and is emulating all the different things about the Dark Side he's learned. He pulls from the Sith, the Knights of Ren, the witches, etc., and now he's his own thing. Furthermore, the Sith weren't actually extinct for a thousand years, one of them was running the Senate. The Jedi only thought this because they had stopped encountering them. We don't know if Sol survives yet to tell the tale. He could go into hiding, die, or otherwise. I really don't care for this show all that much, but you are over criticizing plot points that could yet still be expanded upon. Which is silly.

And as You said Darth Maul did similar thing on Corusant so it fits the way evil force users think. I like both Jedi (both Sol and Indara are suberb) and evil one (sith or not sith, we will see but he is very good at this).
I have a feeling that You just search for excuse to criticize the series to flow on the negative emotions... it is better than Ashoka, Kenobi and Boba Fett for sure.
The amount of erratic moral twists and turns in mae's arc is so like the writers of this show and how volatile they are toward anyone who question them. It also reflects how emotionally driven and detached from any moral centrepoint they are.

Yeah, having one of the main characters with constantly shifting motivation is really confusing for the viewers. Is she there to kill the Jedi? Or to turn herself over to the Jedi? Does she like her sister? Does she hate her sister? Does she want to kill her sister, or no?

@@wb6012 Obi-Wan was basically a full fledged Jedi Knight when he fought Darth Maul. All he needed to do was pass his trials which they deemed the killing of Darth Maul to be enough proof of Obi-Wan’s abilities as a Jedi. This is some random Padawan that has shown no sign of being above average. Obi-Wan was also a Padawan in the line of Yodas training (Yoda-Dooku-Qui-Gon) not to mention it was also Darth Mauls arrogance that lead to his defeat at the hands of a young Obi-Wan. The only positives I can take from this episode are that
1. The lightsabers looks half decent
2. They're not affraid get a bit dark with it (The neck snap).

Where is the Jedi counsel? How are they hiding from the counsel the fact that multiple Jedi Knights, Masters and now Padawans have been aced? Yoda and Mace Windu could both feel when Anakin killed the Sand People and that was light years away. Yoda could feel when Jedi started dying during order 66. Obi Wan could feel the destruction of Alderaan. Luke could feel & sense Vader's presence from a different ship. Not only that but wouldn't folks attached to these now ghosted Jedi be asking, "Where is everybody?" You would think they would all get a visit from one of the Grand Masters asking, "WTF is going on over here?"

The writing for this show has been quite weak and disappointing, but Qimir fighting was really brutal. I would love for the series to focus on him from now on, along with his Master.
Most of his spoken material in this have been pretty shit, and so has his delivery. Hopefully it's just the writing. But for now, all he is good for is the fights. He sounds so goofy when he delivers some of these lines.

The trees fell the wrong way! Now bear with me… this is a perfect metaphor for this entire show. They ignore basic physics, the pendulum of emotions, causation, lore, power levels, leave Sol out of the battle just to simply push the concept “wouldn’t be cool if”. They had the saber cut the trees at an angle that would have a cool “light ring” as they fell. If the trees fell the correct way they would’ve fallen into the shot. The way they fell would’ve meant the angle of the cut would’ve been away from the camera and the back side would have the cool light effect from the saber cut. It’s just lazy and doing stuff just to do it like a kid pulling leaves in a garden with no respect to the plants. It’s all self indulgent for the sake of self indulgence. It’s like they just said let’s make a sith like Darth Maul but turbo boost him and make him fly. Let’s make twins with the force but made even before Anakin! It’s all one upper logic lmao.

Vader's shoulder armour was made of it and Luke was unable to penetrate it even with a direct hit in Empire Strikes Back.
