The fans did review bomb it though. Ep 4 had a 39% on rt 9 mins after it came out, not to mention the first 2 episodes having the same thing before it came out. Even people’s bots have been targeting fan films and unrelated movies because they didn’t program them right. Edit: Review bombing isn’t justified because you don’t like a show, it’s disingenuous and childish. Especially because the only reason it was review bombed before it came out was because of “too much diversity” (and anyone who review bombed it otherwise was still being influenced by that hate bandawagon)
Kathleen is an actual remedial but that came out 8 years ago, i feel like the anti"woke" crowd has gotten progressively worse in that period of time. People were calling this show woke for the trailer merely including people of color, there is no analysis going on anymore.
Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic are no longer good sources to base watching something off of. Look at the box office ticket sales, total and projected revenue, and audience score if you want to know if it's good.
@@SaltyPickles44 Not true. Free Guy crushed both in reviews and box office. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Genuinely mad I paid for a ticket. Art is a totally subjective experience.
But it does get annoying when every single God damn movie/series is a female lead. Eventually after a point it's being shoved down your throat that men shouldn’t be heroes and they should all be women. I thought they wanted equality and stuff so why not just have a good mix? Because it's not. It's simple human sinful nature and desire for power.
"But we didn't have the money for the fight" 180. Million. Dollars. For eight episodes of maybe 20 to 30 minutes not including credits or openings. House of the Dragon costs way less yet had dragonss being ridden. Pathetic.
People who still use the excuse “men just don’t like female leads” for why their media is performing poorly, need to be studied. We’ve had female leads in popular franchises for decades.
These people ignore how much people love Aliens. They don't want to learn and make good media, they such want to complain when their fan fics are told are trash.
To be fair, there's a non-zero amount of people who think "GONE WOKE!" is the most scathing critique you could ever give, and the Star Wars fandom is basically the world capital of this. Usually boils down to reasons like there being a woman or minority in the lead role. If you don't believe me, type 'star wars' in the YT search and you will see these exact sort of grifters
Meanwhile yesterday, the Nintendo Direct announced a new Metroid & a Zelda-led TLoZ game, both with huge hype and excitement. Almost like The Acolyte feels very disingenuous & ulteriorly motivated to have a female lead as a means to deflect criticism.
In the og trilogy it the rebellion was lead by a lot of women. Mon Mothma was the actual leader of the Rebellion and Princess Leia was also a major figure and leader. In the prequels Naboo was lead by women and Padme was a central and important figure to the story even outside of her relationship to Anakin. So it's both ridiculous and disingenuous to say SW fans don't like strong female characterization in the franchise. It's obviously meant as a distraction and excuse as to why most Disney SW films/shows have done so poorly overall.
Not trynna be a nerd or nun but the reason in the show for that is to get the Jedi to break their code that they covet so much in fighting someone unarmed (still think the shows ass lol)
Also force awakens was a hype first movie for a little bit with Rey I enjoyed the entire movie until finn was holding his own with a lightsaber but it was a good first movie I was hype to see what Luke would do when rey hands the saber when last jedi started with luke throwing it i knew hey fumbled
Leslye Headland(who made this show) was Harvey Weinstein's assistant for years and probably has a lot of dirt on Disney execs no doubt this is money laudering or just hush money so she doesn't start yapping
How are people still so ignorant. One simple google search will show how they can put out slop like this... yet people fail to see. I'll do the search for you. Just fucking use google. Disney+ has 153 million subscribers as of May 22nd. Their cheapest option is $8 per month, but their highest purchased option is to bundle hulu and disney+ for $10 per month. Simple arithmetic. Lets just assume everyone only buys the cheapest option available. 153 million multiplied by eight dollars is 1.2 BILLION DOLLARS. IN A SINGLE MONTH. THAT'S NOT EVEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE INVESTMENT MONEY THEY'RE RACKING IN FROM SHAREHOLDERS AND OTHER ASSET COMPANIES, OR EVEN AD REVENUE. Oh and by the way, if you think their subscriber count is dropping, I've got some bad fucking news. They have more subscribers in this quarter than they did in the past 3... so their subscriber growth is trending upwards, and to top it all off, they increased the monthly subscription payment plans in October 2023, and the annual payment option amount in January 2024. They're at Monopoly Money levels of fuck-you-rich. "hOw cAn tHeY sTiLL oPeRaTe LiKe tHiS" guess what their highest viewed content is???????? Kids' movies. Within the past 20 years, Elemental, Frozen, Coco, Encanto, Inside Out, Moana just to name a few... and they were all MASSIVE SUCCESSES. How about the timeless classics? Snow White, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Toy Story. All of those movies are rewatched again and again and again... and again. You wanna know what their most watched TV shows are? Bluey... and surprisingly... Grey's Anatomy (apparently South America absolutely loves Grey's Anatomy and The Simpsons according to the stats). This isn't about always making good content. They've already got their consistent revenue stream. For them, it's about throwing as much shit at the wall as they can and seeing what sticks, and then capitalizing on it when they hit big. That is the reason why we continue to see this slop. Despite the controversy this show has made, it was still the 3rd most watched Disney+ show on June 19th. So even still... people say they hate the show... but.... people are still.... watching it?????????? Real nice move.
I remember when Rings of Power tried to pull the "you just hate women" card at the exact same instant that everyone was raving about house of the dragon
HotD was (and is) also an OVERTLY feminist show too, where the core conflict is driven on personal and political levels by how women are oppressed. Nobody said jack shit, because well yeah it's pretty believable that being snubbed as heir for one's gender OR being forced to marry/give birth as a child and then having a childhood best friend and her father derelict their duty in supporting the queen and raising her children are symptoms of a deeply sexist society.
Well its the same thing now right House of the Dragon S2 is out people still love it and the first episode was great but they still call everyone ists and phobes ^^
Remember the war between Captain Marvel fans and Alita: Battle Angel fans? We have so many examples of female leads that are liked, but disnoids just can't stop lying.
Do people forget that people love Ahsoka from clone wars ? It’s not bc the lead role is female. It’s bc the writing is terrible and not respecting the story.

Saying a male fan base will only like male leads is dumb, look at Arcane, do you know how many League players are men? But Arcane has an actual well written cast and story, so people like it
It´s a cheap excuse for their terrible writing and general incompetence. Put women front and center and somehow make that a bigger deal than the story itself, you can safely assume that the story is going to be a hackjob and the subsequent failure being excused with "Oh they just hate women leads!" it´s the same pattern every time.

Why is it everytime something with a female lead fails, the director immediately blames their audience for that reason, instead of admitting the show/movie is just bad
Because its easier to be a self absorbed narcissist than it is to admit you did a bad job. "I have to find someone else to blame otherwise its my fault, and fuck that"

For those who are interested in the lore, Ki-Adi-Mundi (the Jedi Council member who mentions that the Sith haven't been seen for 1000 years in 'The Phantom Menace') is a middle-age Jedi leading an investigation 30 years before he was born. Wookiee Jedi? Kill him off screen because fight choreography with him is as impossible as The Beast dancing in the live-action remake of 'Beauty and the Beast'. @@thegoodrevbadandyarr4272 Yeah doesnt give a reason why mundi would just get amnesia and forget about the sith lord he saw 100 years ago, theres no reason for him to lie to the entire council in the phantom menace when he says its impossible that maul is a sith, because they have been extinct for thousands of years...
I’ve seen quite a few people call both of those movies “woke feminist propaganda” solely because of the predominant female leads. There are indeed weirdos out there that hate stuff just because there are women or people of colour in it
For the whole "kill a jedi without a lightsaber" quest, it's so they can prove that they don't need the saber to win, basically just a test to see if they're even good enough with the force to be their apprentice, Palpatine sent Vader on that exact same quest too, although in that case it was also to see if his suit would hold up in battle

I don't think we know his age? Isn't the age we have from the old Legends stuff? They nuked Legends so that they'd be 'allowed' to make changes like this. Or possibly Asian Ezra Miller. Then again it could either be Headlands wifes character with how weird her character was ep 4. Or maybe Trinity survived and was disgruntled with the Jedi and became Smilo Ren.
disney would never make a black woman a villain, not unless they make the jedi evil which is unlikely since the main female jedi is sleeping with the director

I've played it now, and I see why--it's unique, atmospheric, and filled with eerie alien sci-fi. I love it, too.

People who still use the excuse “men just don’t like female leads” for why their media is performing poorly, need to be studied. We’ve had female leads in popular franchises for decades.
These people ignore how much people love Aliens. They don't want to learn and make good media, they such want to complain when their fan fics are told are trash.
Shhh. Don't interrupt them being victims.
