That drove me nuts when they had that scene with Luke and Ahsoka. They'd have so much to talk about and connect over, and could help each other get through some pretty heavy emotions and trauma. Instead, we were shown a scene with them making small talk like two strangers waiting for the bus.
I really wish he’d gotten another animated SW show so the writers could freely use the OT characters & mix their stories in with the animated characters where that fits. Ahsoka and Ezra are two major characters who would have A LOT to say to Luke … a character that is destined to get sidelined in live-action projects given that Mark Hamill isn’t 25 anymore
@@TheJadedJames You know there were rumours abot rebooting the OT, since Matthew Vaughn said that if he made a SW show, it would be about Luke, Han, Leia and Chewie, like Clone Wars but set between ep. 4 and 5.

Yeah! I mean here’s this person who knew and spent years with Anakin at his peak, before his fall. Luke would have so many questions and Asoka would have so much to tell by him. It’s in complete defiance of human nature that these two don’t spend tons of time talking. Also, Asoka was a fully trained Jedi who could share so much with Luke beyond her link with his family. So lame that they missed this.
@@davidanderson4748 In Rebels the obvious question I had in regards to Ahsoka was “How is Ahsoka going to react to learning Anakin became Darth Vader?” Now that we are post-ROTJ … Ahsoka has to know that Anakin & Padme had secret twins that Kenobi/Yoda wanted to use to assassinate Anakin/Palpatine. The Ahsoka solo series goes by without us getting to watch her process any of this. Luke would obviously want to know about Jedi who fought alongside Anakin, Kenobi, and Yoda in the Clone Wars. Ahsoka, who left the Jedi Order (and at her age, she likely barely remembers a time before the Clone Wars) would also pass down a very different outlook on the Jedi Order than someone like Kenobi
Ahsoka is what happens when writers write an IP rather than a story.
That's what star wars and really Disney in general have been doing for at least 8 years now...

If there's one positive about Ahsoka, it's that it showed Dave Filoni isn't the "savior" of Star Wars, nor is he as good of a writer as people made him out to be. Defenders of him often point out that he worked on the Clone Wars, but they also failed to realize it wasn't him solely working on the show, and some of the ideas they like actually came from Lucas rather than Filoni.
It's like how everyone was tripping over themselves to paint Hideo Kojima as some sort of genius after Death Stranding released only for them to realize that he really isn't all that good when he doesn't have someone to slap him on the wrist and say 'stop wasting time'
There's another positive: the butt shots. Love the butt shots.
I imagine Dave Feloni has some cool ideas or lore but those ideas need to be taken by an experienced writer and filtered out before they make it to the script. Here, there was no one to call out his silly ideas.
I confess I've lost a lot of respect for Filoni these last few years
@@Da_Kow2020 | lost my respect to him fully after Ahoska live-action. He should not write scripts and dialogues at all.
The butchering of thrawn is horrible. Never let anyone but Timathy Zahn write this character.
Amen to that
I don't know man, I read the books when I was younger, watched the shows, read the new books from Timothy Zahn (not Timanthy, don't know that guy) and saw the Ahsoka show and I thought Thrawn was pretty spot on. I'm reading this as a prelude and I'm pretty sure we'll witness him in all his splendour in the follow up. It's easy to be pissed, but the current medium is builded about the idea that one part of a story is not meant to encompass the whole saga. In that regard, it is indeed pretty different from what I consider to be the golden age of EU SW,
@@floflo6660if you thought Ahsoka thrawn was “spot on” then you have awful reading comprehension or didn’t actually read the books. Exactly the IQ level filoni is writing for
Yes, it's a shame considering how delicatly and carfully he used pre-existing characters like Luke, Leia, Han etc. He dosn't try to mutilate, recaracterize them or in any way put his 'stamp' on them, his new characters are his unique creation and satisfy him. But on the other hand dont let him anywhere near the plot, the number of Mcguffins he uses would actually make modern StarWars writers blush. I thought Thrawn was writen spot on in Rebels, always ahead of the game, ruthless and only undone by insubordinate subordinates and Force magic.

The Nightsisters really bug me
In the original "Courtship of Princess Leia", the Nightsisters just had telekinesis and lightning. They could use it incredibly well, and incredibly powerfully, but the counter was that they needed rituals to focus enough to do it, and it took a massive toll on the body, causing constant bruising and broken limbs (the term nightsister coming from the black blotches of bruising)
That worked because it was a natural extension of the preexisting powers
The Nightsisters here are just doing whatever. And there's nothing that kills stakes quicker than pulling abilities out of nowhere
My interpretation of the Nightsisters, originally, was that their power was _bound to Dathomir._ Like, yes, they are insanely powerful, but that power it bound to Dathomir through the "ichor" that seems to be unique to that world. They can project that power outward, but it is somewhat limited by needing to be cast very deliberately by a very powerful witch in time consuming and draining rituals. There's still a lot of problems, but they are mitigated _somewhat_ by these things.
Yes, they can use their crystal ball to locate anyone they want, but it requires someone of Mother Talzin's power to use and must be done from Dathomir. Yes, Talzin is crazy powerful, but her power comes from her being imbued with the ichor that is only on Dathomir and her ability to leave and use her power elsewhere is limited because that power drains the longer she is away from it (I don't think that "isn't sensitive to the force like a Jedi or Sith" line means she doesn't feel the force at all on her own, I think it means more that the way she uses the force is just completely different from how they do.) Yes, Talzin can use voodoo on Dooku, but I'm pretty sure that this was only possible because (either or both) 1) Talzin had actually met him in person and 2) Ventriss had a bond of sorts with him that could be exploited to accomplish this (I don't remember exactly how it went down, but I have a fuzzy memory of Ventriss needing to focus on him or something like that for Talzin to cast the spell). Like, if someone came to them and just said, "Hey, can you voodoo Palpatine for us?" she wouldn't be able to because she doesn't have any connection to him personally or even through someone else to grab hold of.
I'm pretty sure that none of this is explicitly stated in The Clone Wars, by the way, but this was just my casual interpretation and it still _could_ have been clarified as such by later works. Like, I'm not a fanboy of the Nightsisters who has been sitting around trying to think of this shit, it's just sort of what my thoughts on them were on viewing. I'm still writing this in my head for the fucking show, but I think it's at least a reasonable interpretation that _could_ have been validated by later works or at least replaced with an explanation that was as acceptable without breaking the world building.
But it looks like this was all just thrown right out the fucking window with Ahsoka, though, so it doesn't matter. It's super obvious that Dave Filoni just wanted to have the cool green ghost sword in live action and so that's what happened and whatever fuck it, right? It's a shame because with the right creative limitations placed on them, the Nightsisters have the potential to be a super cool addition to the Star Wars lore. I love the addition of a new evil faction to the Star Wars galaxy that _isn't_ the Sith and that don't _really_ have megalomaniacal ambitions for power and total control and all that noise. I like them as hermit witches who mostly just want to be left the fuck alone and don't really want to have to cooperate or even deal with outsiders unless they're forced to. I think an important limitation on their power is the fact that dealing with them is dangerous, and that danger only grows the longer you are in contact with them because they are treacherous, fiercely isolationist, and are _completely uninterested_ in the ambitions and opinions of outsiders. Having groups of Nightsisters that are allied to imperial remnants/ Thrawn/ anyone else breaks this. The way it should be is that every time you deal with them, you are rolling the die and if you keep playing that game you _will_ lose.
@@Kevin-jb2pv idk Ik the Jedi games are different but even then Merrin's Magic looks far better than whatever these 4 are using in the show. The direction there was "Yeah point at the ball and we'll do it in post" and then they lit a Bunsen Burner underneath it.
The way they're presented here is consistent with how they were portrayed in the Clone Wars series. So at least there's that consistency. But it's probably been 30 years since I read Courtship of Princess Leia so I'd forgotten how they were portrayed there.
The understanding in the Courtship of Princess Leia novel (By the way I still chuckle at how Han asked Threepio for advice and at one time Threepio even made a song praising Han) The Nightsisters are in fact darkside Force wielders, and that over the years they largely forgot or converted their conception of their connection to the Force as instead being one of magic and incantation and rituals.
Filoni and his ilk no doubt skimmed through it or heard of the Nightsisters through 3rd or 4th hand comments and decided to run with the magic idea, with the blessings of KK no doubt.
My fav part was that they can use their power to sense where Ahsoka is on the planet but never sensed Ezra.
The single most egregious plot point in this series for me is Thrawn "not knowing" that Ahsoka was Anakin's padawan. Like there is no possible way Thrawn never came across that when he knew Vader was Anakin and also would have done his research on Ahsoka during the Rebels series. It's such a minor detail for most people but it assassinates his character so thoroughly it cannot be overlooked.
You’d think a comprehensive list of masters and Padawans of the Jedi Order would be something the Empire would definitely have right? But then again Filoni has never been one to pay attention to continuity and canon.
Him being somehow in awe of her being Anakin's padawan is also hilarious. Like he holds Anakin in high-esteem or something when Anakin was hardly some brilliant steategist. He was the Jedi equivalent of blunt force trauma.
The only good line in the Kenobi series was when Obi-Wan said "He doesn't have the patience for a siege."
@@emilianomartorell3587 You shouldn’t need a list. Ahsoka would be a well-known figure to anyone high up in the Republic/Empire. Not knowing who Ahsoka Tano is would be like not knowing who Kenobi was. Ahsoka was an active Rebel agent during the height of Thrawn’s military career. Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice was out there smacking down the Inquisitors & Thrawn never heard about that? Did the possible of someone who had to be one of the most notorious rogue Jedi at Malachor make zero waves?
This is also worsened by the fact that upon meeting Baylan, hey just goes “oh you’re Baylan Skoll right?” As if he just knows all Jedi who fought in the clone wars yet he somehow doesn’t know Anakin had a padawan
@@pauljohnson2911 On another level, it is just so weird because, okay yes, I get it. If you've only seen the movies, which only depict the first and last battles of the Clone Wars, then you have no idea who Ahosoka is or that Anankin had a padawan. But for people who actually live in the SW universe ... well ... Ahsoka was Anakin's padawan for most of the war, which was the time period he would have been best know to people around the Republic. Anakin Skywalker's most famous era in-universe is the period where Ahsoka was always around. It's like know who Batman is but not Robin. Ahsoka was so respected when she lead the Siege of Mandolore her Clone Trooper battalion painted their helmets in her honor.

@@Balrog2005 I would even go so far as suggesting Ahsoka should never have been invented in the first place. I mean, she survived Order 66 and just focked off? Why didn't she try to contact Anakin, Obi-Wan or any other Jedi during Episode 3? She would obviously have gone with Obi-Wan to Mustafar to try and turn Anakin back, after learning the truth. But she wasn't even mentioned, for obvious reasons that don't make sense in-universe.
Anakin and Obi-Wan even act like master-apprentice until the latter leaves for Utapau, which makes no sense if Anakin already trained and lost a student of his own. They speak about Anakin saving him 9 times, as if it has been the two of them going on every mission together, like they did before Episode 2. Basically, Ahsoka breaks the canon, even more so during the OT. Where was she when the Second Death Star went down? Putting Sabine and Mandalore above defeating the Empire makes no sense whatsoever, but I bet Filoni thinks he can get away with that.
Filloni didnt have the balls to kill ashoka and make a great tragic ending to the character. Instead he chose this...
Yeah it’s rough… I think her character arc would’ve been perfect if it ended on twilight of the apprentice. Instead we just ask ourselves what she was doing all this time during the OT which makes her look a lot more selfish and really damages her character by the time the Ahsoka show starts. Then her own show is just repeating the same beats with her overcoming Anakin/Vader again which felt completely useless with how we saw her at the end of rebels…
But if you kill your darlings you abandon the eternal milk. And eternally milking the fanbase with dead horses is a sacred practice at Disney. It's not about creating a good story, it's about keeping his job.

Not damaging your characters is an amateur mistake in fiction writing, and I've seen overly precious or protected characters be trashed in so many writing workshops over the years (while getting my Masters in Fiction Writing). I keep wondering why someone like Filoni has so much power. Did he just know the right people? I know so many writers who struggle to even get paid at all for their work, and their talent is leagues beyond the Filonis of the world, who just seem to know the right people.
He's got really good PR, oftentimes, that's all you really need.
Granted, now that he's the head of what's going down in Lucas's film, I expect this "shield" of his is to get grounded down over time.
I think Dave was just promoted over his level of expertise. Clone Wars and Rebels were flawed but they also had some really great moments. Live action can be tough, though, and when you’ve only got 8 episodes to work with you can afford filler episodes.
I know it's needless to say at this point, but Dave's obsession over Ahsoka is honestly pretty scary at this point. Ahsoka's arc came to its natural conclusion during Rebels S2. I know she didn't technically die there (as Sheev says you can clearly see here in the ending and the stupid World Between Worlds), but still. Dave literally invented time travel just to save her and now she's just literally wandering around the galaxy doing who knows what. She should've just been killed then and there as there was nothing more for her character. Look, I get it. Dave is very proud of Ahsoka. They essentially entered the Star Wars Universe "together" and that's what forms his connection to her. But there comes a point where pride turns into toxic obsession. And Dave has far beyond crossed that point. In the past, Dave was held back from unleashing the worst side of his writing because he had George and others keeping him in check. But now, he's been given far too much power and he's revealed himself as the hack writer, member berries dependent he is. So much for the saviour of Star Wars. 11 years of crap from Disney is the best we've got.
This is like when potterheads point out the obsession of the screenwriter Steve Kloves with Hermione (don't get me wrong, I love her) by giving her the lines that other characters said in the book, he said to Rowling that Mione was his favorite character, so...
Heck, even him retroactively explaining why Ahsoka wasn’t in Revenge of the Sith doesn’t make much sense when you think about it. First, she survived in a duel against Darth Maul and actually beats him when Jedi Knights with far more tenure, like Qui-Gon, struggled and/or died against him. Then you have her surviving Order 66 on a Republic Venator surrounded by clones programmed to kill her, managing to deflect all the blaster bolts shot her way when the likes of Ki-Adi could withstand far less, and surviving the ship crashing against all odds because the plot demanded it.

It's interesting that Filoni would take great pains to put Ahsoka, the character he created, out there in full force, all the while destroying the character created by Zahn, that of the far more intriguing and relatable Thrawn.
Almost as if Filoni was jealous of Zahn and was determined to fuck him over in whatever manner he saw fit, by literally pulling the Epic Movie scene, where Peter has the magical remote, freezes the White B-itches Army so that he and his pathetic adopted siblings could cheat kill the bad guys.
Filoni didn’t explain what Ahsoka was doing during the OT because he doesn’t know that himself.
She did everything that Luke had been doing but Luke, being a toxic white male as he is, always took the credit of her work🤪
Which is basically Luke’s arc in the sequel trilogy: getting credit for Rey’s work to sort of drive home that hero worship allegory. He doesn’t live up to the standards but he still maintains them for the sake of hope(?).
I hate it, don’t get me wrong: no matter how you look at it Luke throws everything away for reasons he should arguably be above and even meets his fate and it’s ultimately Rey doing all the work including training herself which means Luke causes all the shit to go down and he does nothing to fix it
I'm fairly certain that Disney will soon be testing the waters to see if fans would be okay with a complete retcon of the OT. Their own canon makes so much more sense without those movies.
I just assumed once she left the World Between Worlds (stupid fucking name) it sent her through time to the post-Return of the Jedi era. Or at the very least, she was stranded on Malachor until she repaired that old Jedi shuttle. Not that she was actually around on Lothal training Sabine during the entire OT, that is just fucking terrible. There has to be an actual reason why Luke couldn't just have her train him, and "Luke was too busy" over the course of 5 years isn't an acceptable answer. You'd think at the very least she'd have heard about the guy who destroyed the Death Star and saved the Rebellion had the last name 'Skywalker' especially on a REBEL-CONTROLLED planet like Lothal. Like seriously, can it get any more obvious how Filoni desperately wants to rewrite the OT with Ahsoka in it?
When I watched Rebels, I felt like the obvious answer was “Ahsoka was stranded on Malachor & probably couldn’t get off the planet until after the Battle of Endor. That is why the ending flashed forward to her collecting Sabine to go save Ezra.” But now I feel like I was giving the show too much credit
Thank you for addressing the fact that Rosario Dawson was wasted in this. I don't understand how Disney keeps taking these talented actors and just directs them so badly you'd think they were first year drama students. Who is making these choices!?!?!?
Producers who used to get coffee for Lucas and Spielberg, yet have never had any talent, creativity, or vision of their own. And C-suite apple shiners like Iger.
I really don't get where people get this from. She's so bland in everything I've ever seen her in.
Maybe do sum about it 😂
I've seen her good in maybe one movie lol, she's always been a brick
I swear some of the newer star wars stuff just sounds like things I would have come up with playing with legos years ago
When talking about that Sabine/Thrawn scene where he "wouldn't understand," ironically the backstory of Thrawn is that he sacrificed being a part of Chiss society in order to protect them from the burgeoning external threats of the Empire and potential Extragalactic invaders. Thrawn knows all about sacrifice in order to protect what you love.

Filoni had no problem having Hera take the kid along because he knows nothing will happen to them. Plot armor is basically just a given at this point
if the character isn't being talked about or on screen then they don't exist
The retcons are so stupid. Characters are reset, with Sabine being the worst example. The entire Rebels S4 ending is also recontextualized. And the worst part is parts are completely backwards. Hera participated in the Battle of Lothal and its liberation and saw Thrawn & Ezra disappear. Ahsoka was absent from that. Why is Ahsoka the one believing Thrawn is alive, but Hera believes Thrawn died in the battle? Why?
Because Filoni himself said that continuity is for suckers. "Aw, it's all campfire stories. In this one, Hera watched them disappear! But in the story being told in Ahsoka, she wasn't there at all!" Actually, Filoni being Filoni, his example was the color of Ahsoka's lightsaber at a given time. Because the man literally cannot have a thought about Star Wars without putting his waifu at the forefront.
I just hope the body pillow is a picture of ADULT Ahsoka.

that was the funniest thing to me. Thrawn was there for 10 years and couldn't find Ezra, but Sabine found him in like 20 minutes LOL..
This entire series could’ve been fixed had Ahsoka simply said “Me personally, I wouldn’t let that slide.”
There seems to be a sort of underlying narcissism in Dave Filoni’s work. Everything he makes must be central to the core narrative of Star Wars. His work has a parasitic relationship to the main saga; he never makes anything truly original, only ever working in the shadow of another movie or novel made by far more talented writers (Heir to the Empire, OT, PT, etc.); but always, he tries to recontextualize those stories to place his characters at the narrative forefront. All of his OCs are kept alive inexplicably throughout the whole arc of the Skywalker story; often times long after their arcs have reached a natural and satisfactory ending point. Stylistically he relies far too heavily upon callbacks and cameos to keep his stories engaging. He constantly talks about George’s mentorship over him to give people the impression that he is a sort of inheritor to the Star Wars legacy, which legitimizes his fan-fiction. When he wants to be taken more seriously, he parrots the aesthetics of greater respected works like Blade Runner or Akira Kurosawa’s filmography, but always misses what made those films truly special. This became clearer than ever to me with Tales of the Jedi, a darker, self-serious series which attempted to paint itself as mature political and moral commentary (According to Filoni, long, drawn out scenes with no dialogue means his work is deep. He continues this gimmick in Ahsoka). However Ahsoka was released in the shadow of Andor, and when you directly compare how these two works approach the same themes, the surface-level nature of his writing becomes incredibly apparent.
Let us also not forget how completely hypocritical Filoni is when it comes to the treatment of writers' original characters. He's against anyone else writing for his own OC's (Ahsoka novel) and demonstrates this in his Tales of the Jedi retcons, yet he'll gladly take another writer's OC (Thrawn) and butcher their character beyond recognition. Filoni has a knack for taking once beloved characters and making them into shells of their former selves to bolster his preferred characters (what he did to Barriss to make Ahsoka look better is a prime example of this). But that's what you have to do when you don't have talent.
Characters are as smart as their writers - A guy i saw leaving this comment. Perfectly describes this series.

Yeah he's fun. Wish he had a good show to act in.
From the clips I've seen of this series, his character definitely shows the most emotion out of anyone in the cast.
More than Ahsoka, the former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, who had a reputation during the Clone Wars for acting before thinking, and not quite having enough control over her emotions.
Certainly more than Sabine, the most colorful of the lineup (in multiple ways) who shows emotion probably the most out of anyone else in the crew besides Ezra himself.
I freaking hate this trend of emotionless cardboard boxes with familiar names stapled to their heads.
Ezra and Hera's "heartfelt reunion" was one of the most eggregious moments for me, this is the boy she took under her wing, convinced Kanan to train, fought alongside him for years and believed him dead and gone like Kanan. WHY DID SHE JUST STAND THERE?!?!
Let alone Ezra's "Dramatic Reveal" of flying in on a stolen ship STILL WEARING the fucking Stormtrooper Armor. Like he probably didn't change armor and instantly throw his clothes out so he probably could have changed on the way back or commed in saying "Hey I am Ezra Bridger." but instead he decides to slowly walk down the ramp with his helmet on and only takes it off when Chopper rolls up to him. Doesn't even say "Thrawn is coming" or anything he just kinda stares smugly at them
Maybe the writers were self aware enough to realize they couldn't write an appropriate and emotional reunion scene, so they just didn't.

I actually really liked the fact that sabine betrayed everyone. I thought it was a great subversion with real potential for character tension and a potential fall of sabine to darkness.
Aaaaand then they just ignored everything and said 'oopsie daisy'. God damn this show.
Right? This show really could have been so much more if the writing was even mediocre. Imagine if in the years where Ezra was gone, Sabine became increasingly lonely and brooding, pushing away friends and mentors and focusing only on the empty spot in her heart. It'd make sense why she'd take the map to begin with, try to rekindle her apprenticeship to Ahsoka and go with her to recover the map (even though a lot of things still don't make sense). It would have been amazing to portray her slowly succumbing to heightening emotions and stakes, giving in to Baylan's offer despite being wrecked by witnessing Ahsoka "die" and going along if only because there is a chance that she can get back the thing she missed most.
The scene of her finding Ezra really should have been an extremely resonant and poignant emotional scene, contrasting Sabine's sheer elation and joy with Ezra being mortified that his sacrifice and exile has been ruined by her making it possible for Thrawn's return. This of course is just my idea, and doesn't touch on the innumerable other problems that would need fixing in this story, but Sabine's arc could very much have been a marked high point of enjoyment had it been handled well.
@@pwh1981 to even add on to this, the betrayal of Sabine could have given Ashoka an actual internal conflict to overcome and actually give her an arc. Allowing Ashoka to have credence to not wanting to train Sabine, making her feel as if she is making a mistake in attempting to train someone too old and too attached. Similar to the councils reluctance to train Anakin in episode 1 which eventually brought the entire Jedi order to fall and the empire to grow in its ashes. hell you can even throw in a few lines from Huyang about how training someone like Sabine is against the jedi code if you want to give yourself a victory lap and bash the similarities over the audiences head.
And now you have Sabine, which she trained by Ashoka giving into her emotions and being selfish. Wanting to find Ezra no matter the cost to the galaxy at large over being an actual Jedi. Ashoka could be crippled by the realization that she might have made the same mistakes that led to Anakin.
Hell, if you really want to go into this, maybe even make Sabine have an arc of while shes trying to learn how to use the force, give her internal conflict with the dark side while your at it, if done properly it might even work!
Instead what we got was a large waste of time. Practically all we have is every single character having regression throughout the entire show, actually we dont even have that considering every single character has haphazard "arcs" which lead nowhere. They make bad decisions, yet dont have any of the consequences imposed on them. I think there is one line that can highlight this show. and that is a quote from Episode 9: "somehow, Palpatine returned"
I mean, it's of course they're own fault either way but some of this is due to the larger problem of having to conform to things they produced beforehand but set afterwards. This same issue is very evident in the prequels. The Jedi had to be made completely brain dead to make their near extinction believable so the OT can even happen.
Yeah, it's ok to let characters fall from grace, but there have to be consequences. It would have been awesome, if Asoka tear her a new one for that stupid decision, or if Ezra were angry at her for demining his sacrifice. Wtf?
The way Ashoka comes off when talking to her you'd think that Sabine had just spilled milk because Ashoka's reaction is just so nonchalant.

I'm getting a little tired of this pattern where a new Star Wars show comes out and then it tells an underwhelming story but has an episode somewhere in the middle of the season where some unrelated characters and events pop up that are supposed to set up another show, and then the "promise" of the future makes people overlook how completely lackluster the show itself was. Mando teased Ahsoka and Boba Fett, Boba Fett teased Mando and Luke, Ahsoka teased Anakin and the Clone Wars. They keep breadcrumbing the audience and they keep eating up the same shit every time.
It's from the MCU playbook
My favorite thing about this show is how the fans put their media literacy on hold for a few weeks to theorize who Marrok is, when he's literally named after a zombie from Arthurian legend, foreshadowing his ending. The fanbase in the early 2010s would have caught that detail.

Regarding Marek, the director of the episode was interviewed, made reference to Kurosawa films as inspiration and mentioned the blood spatter seen in said samurai encounters. But of course since Disney Wars is PG, blood was off the menu. So the director and Feloni then decided 'hey! since we can't do blood, why not use smoke!' and so the green fart death was born.
All those theories people had about Marek... way more effort went into it than Feloni and co made. Marek was just another mystery box 'rule of cool' character with no thought beyond the spectacle level applied to it.
It was painful to watch her dual wield light sabers. It is so slow and cluncky like she is trying to remember ahe got 2 of them so she wouldnt slice herself in half by accident
It’s even more painful when looking at her duel with Anakin. You can tell after all this time, Hayden Christensen still knows how to wield a lightsaber like it’s second nature to him. He’s way more fluid, more flexible with his technique; so much so that you can tell he has to slow himself down so that Rosario Dawson can keep up. She, on the other hand, wields lightsabers like they’re for an interpretive dance, not like they’re dangerous weapons designed to maim and kill. Not as a knock against Dawson herself, moreso against the lackluster work the choreographer did with teaching her swordplay
The point you make about Filoni's writing at around the 8:30 mark is telling to me. Filoni is supposed to be the inheritor of all things Lucas when Filoni, amongst his other problems, does something Lucas almost never engaged in: write ambiguous dialogue. Lucas was always clear in his writing and his characters always spoke about things in unambiguous ways (with the possible exception of Obi-Wan talking about Anakin/Vader at times). Filoni's character dialogue is nothing but ambiguity and unnecessary secret-keeping for the sake of creating false tension. It's incredibly aggravating.
I'm not sure I agree. You might be right with the prequels but I feel like there were tons of ambiguous dialogue in the OT. From "size matters not", to Palpatine wanting Luke to "strike him down".
Those examples seem pretty clear; when Yoda is telling Luke “Size matters not” he’s training him to use the force on larger objects; and Palpatine is asking Luke to attack him when he says “strike me down” trying to turn him to the dark side
Pretentious is the word you're looking for.
Filoni is NOT the inheritor of George Lucas. Lucas never wanted Ahsoka to survive past Revenge of the Sith. All Filoni has done is shit all over Lucas work with his own OC characters.
Don't you love how Star Destroyer blasts barely do any damage, and people can stand right next to the explosion impact with no problems?
One thing that's always baffled me about Star Wars is why ships many times the size of naval battleships have patrol-boat level armament.
I know its so underwhelming
I find your lack of faith in plot armor disturbing.
1. That Star Destroyer is damaged and very much lacking in power, so you can rationalize it that way if you need to.
2. The fandom claims that each turbolaser bolt was hundreds of megatons or something were always insane and ridiculous.
@@realQuestion Still... These Turbolaser blast are supposed to break through shields and hulls. The way they have been portrayed in the show was like background noise.
I think it's pretty telling just how bad a show is when it's best character (in this case it's Baylan) feels like a generic bad guy half of the time and pretty much exclusively has dialogue that is vague for the sake of it. The only reason he's really the best character imo is because conceptually he is good and Ray Stevenson's acting added a great presence to the show. Rest in Peace Ray...
He's not the best character, he has no character at all.
Not only is Sabine a Jedi, she’s more powerful than Ezra
Thanks to Disney (and especially Dave Filoni), Ahsoka has more relevance to the Star Wars universe than Luke Skywalker. I mean, even his dad chose to abandon him to watch over Ahsoka instead.
She's the retconned chosen one
Haven't you heard? The Force is female. Luke has to swap gender in order to stay relevant.
I blame JJ Abrams. He wiped out Luke's jedi and brought back Palpatine so his OC (Rey) could be the one to kill the Emperor, Destroy the sith, and restore the jedi.
On top of that she gets everyone's lightsaber, the Falcon, Red 5, etc. And she's also another desert planet hero who is the secret offspring of a sith lord (so creative)
What Filoni did with Ahsoka is child's play compared to the damage Abrams and Johnson did.
I like how in this entire franchise, the most important character just literally isn't touched at all other than taking away Grogu which turned out to be for nothing.
@@heebiejeebies4625 Yeah, even the Jedi Knight series did him more justice and there he is just a cameo. Well, a cameo that made sense, one with purpose and an integral part of the plot. Who could have imagined back in 2003 that old timer Luke would just throw his father's lightsaber over his shoulder? After not seeing it for 30+ years. Or indeed, try to kill his nephew. Ridiculous.
Forget the fact that the show is telling us that Thrawn is a threat to the galaxy... in the moment where Sabine strikes a deal with Baylan, she just watched Ahsoka get knocked off a cliff. Baylan likely just killed Ahsoka for all Sabine knew. The fact that she would strike a deal with the man who just murdered her mentor and friend is sociopathic. @@mazkeraid4039 What is with this "it doesn't matter because he dies in Rogue One" argument I keep seeing people use to dismiss Andor? I guess nothing in the Prequel trilogy matters because we already know what happens in the Original trilogy: the Empire takes over the galaxy so anything with the Republic or the Separatists doesn't matter; Obi-Wan dies; Anakin/Darth Vader dies; Palpatine dies; all the Jedi (as far as the movies are concerned) are already dead; Yoda dies. But even then, nothing in the OT matters anymore too, because in the Sequel Trilogy: Han dies; Luke dies; Leia dies; the New Republic basically dies (as in their main five planets? are destroyed); Palpatine comes back and dies again; you get my point. If all that ever lent weight to what happens in the story between characters or events was not knowing the outcome, nobody would have ever cared about anything Star Wars made after Return of the Jedi. If anything, knowing the outcome of a character's story and learning more of that character's story up to that point gives even more weight to how it finally ends; there are some amazing works of writing out there where you know the end from the very beginning.
Most baffling of all is how I've only ever seen this argument in regards to Andor. Never saw anyone say anything about the main movies or the Clone Wars or any other Star Wars production not mattering or meaning nothing because they already know that character X dies in Y. I can only assume it comes from people dismissing it out of hand because it's a secondary character in another prequel movie that they didn't care about to begin with, or it's out of jealousy that Andor was such a quality show when the rest of the shows that centered around fan-favourite characters were so abysmal in comparison.
If Thrawn had just shot Sabine, he literally would've won with zero losses. And maintained every advantage. Just putting that out there. You know, if he were an actual genius strategist. And that's what I hated the most.
Idk I think it was smart of him using her to find him. For all he knows he still has access to the space whales and can hinder any escape attempt he would make.
Although Ezra being shockingly easy to find does make her usefulness minor
@wisdommanari6701 But he knows where the space whales come and go. He has the Great Mothers, who's ancestors first "rode" them. And Ezra wouldn't have had any idea that Thrawn was attempting to escape the planet if Sabine hadn't told him. Thrawn wouldn't have to care about Ezra escaping, and even if he did manage it, assuming Thrawn didn't manage to shoot Ahsoka's ship beforehand, he would have no way to use the space whales to get them to the known galaxy anyway because their ship is fucked. Ahsoka wouldn't have been able to find Ezra with Sabine dead, and Ezra wouldn't be able to take the news of Thrawn returning with zombie magic to the new republic. He wouldn't have had to needlessly sacrifice troops, wouldn't have had to lose his second in command and her magic sword, since Baylan and Shin would've kept Ahsoka busy long enough for Thrawn to make a clean getaway. If Thrawn shot Sabine in the head when she was defenseless and at his mercy, it would have solved all his problems before they even began.
So no, it was absolutely braindead to let Sabine live.

I couldn't stop laughing when Sabine told Ezra that Ahsoka took her as her Padawan and he says why because he knows like everyone else she can't use the force
Ezra: Why?
Sabine: Cause Filoni wrote it in the script.
Well, she can't be a formal padawan because 1. Ahsoka was never a Master and 2. Ahsoka left the order entirely, so expecting it to be the same as past relationships would not make much sense anyway.

Dunno why I found that hilarious.
The thing with midichlorians is also that the movies never implied that they are what give you force powers directly, just that by some mechanism someone with a greater connection to the force, you will also attract a larger amount of these force-sensitive microbes. There can be a symbiotic relationship in play, maybe force sense is actually derived from how these microbes react to changes in the force, but a lot of people ran with the rather simpleminded idea that midichlorians are the force which I don't believe Lucas ever intended for them.
I always compared it to athletes. Some people are just born bigger, stronger and generally more physically superior so they have a higher ceiling
My head canon went with "correlation, not causality." That midis are just found in people strong in the force and used as a convenient testing method. Qui-gon was either dumbing it down to explain to child Anakin or he just held a fringe belief since the term is almost never used elsewhere.
Correct. They are a measuring stick, not the totality of the Force or something. Lucas did indeed have a strong interest in relating the Force to the microbiotic world, and had suggestions about more of that in his sequel ideas, but clearly the explanation of the Force is much bigger than this [unless someone thinks Mortis was made of midichlorians or something].
@@kaleiohulee6693yes I've always believed correlation is not causation, too. I figured it was more like gut bacteria. As in, different bacteria are found in different environments and can indicate specific conditions in their host. So, I dunno... Maybe midichlorians eat or farm the force and force sensitives have a higher concentration of the force interacting with their physical bodies (hence, luminous being are we) and thus find force-sensitive people more hospitable hosts. And the more force sensitive the more interaction between force and flesh and the more midichlorians are attracted and can be supported.
Not gonna lie: I was 26 when I saw TPM & the collective theatrical reaction to “midichlorian counts” was basically “We’re gonna pretend he never said that.”

Ahsoka has become so important to the narrative of Star Wars, it almost feels like she’s fulfilling the role of a Mary Sue. AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS THIS, I’M NOT SAYING AHSOKA IS A MARY SUE, ONLY THAT SHE FILLS THE SPACE OF ONE!!!
Her importance to the story is warping the narrative space around her. She has become so important to Vader’s story that she’s rivaling Obi-wan in relevance. If the OT didn’t exist, Ahsoka would’ve been the one to redeem Anakin Skywalker. But because those pesky movies exist, she isn’t allowed to overtake them, no matter how much it would make sense in the broader context.
And even in the context of the OT, you’d think Ahsoka would’ve been interested to meet the Rebel who destroyed the Death Star the second she realized he was Luke SKYWALKER!!! The second she’d have heard his name, nothing would’ve been more important. Meeting the son of her former master would’ve been a game changer for her. And yet, she was nowhere to be found. She never met him, even when every fiber of her character should’ve been rushing to meet the Son of Anakin and Padme.
But her biggest problem is that her story isn’t allowed to end because both the fans and writers love her too much to let her go. So instead of sailing into the West, like all good Paragons should, she lingers in this world, fading from relevance yet never removing herself from the spotlight.
As much as it pains me to say it, I agree with Creamy Sheev. Ahsoka should’ve died in the Sith Temple fighting Vader.
15:10 "Can you imagine introducing the concept that Anakin, from beyond the grave, can just reach into the physical world..." - Well, yes, I can. Ever since that concept was introduced by genius Rian Johnson in "The Last Jedi". Remember Yoda? Remember how he set a tree on fire, being a force ghost? Causing physical damage in the real world from beyond the grave? When I saw this, the immediate question that popped into my head was "If Yoda can do this, why doesn't he just go and kill off Palpatine himself? And any other bad guy? He can't be harmed, as he's already a ghost..."
This is Star Wars writing of today, absolutely zero thoughts given whatsoever to anything that is happening.
I think Palpatine is a tad more capable of defending himself than a tree
29:20 This, combined with Ahsoka's (let's charitably call it "subdued") reaction, is what killed the series for me. You would think this would be a slam-dunk - not only the characters seeing one another after so long, but the catharsis for the fans who wanted to know what happened to them 5 years after the show ended. It actually blows my mind that they chose this weirdly emotionally stilted tack.
And you can't say it's in the style of the OT: Luke was so excited to see Leia after blowing up the Death Star he called her by the wrong name. Even in the prequels Anakin, Padme, & Obi-Wan were permitted to express strong emotions. Just the most baffling decision.
I feel like there was a great story for Sabine right under the surface:
She is so driven by revenge over the actions of the Empire that the idea of them being beaten is slowly eating at her because she has nowhere to direct her anger. She could deal with the internal conflict of using finding Ezra as an excuse to find and kill one more Imperial regiment. Ashoka could then understandably see the parallels between Sabine and Anakin's personalities and struggle to direct Sabine when she's making decisions that only serve her finding an outlet for revenge.
But nah... They did nothing.
Sabine never came off as being anything more than an obnoxious young hot heated mandalorian playing the part of a frustrated artist. There was nothing relatable about her.
Someone needs to sneak into StarWars' hospital room, and unplug the life support...
The Ahsoka in your thumbnail is more expressive in face than in all of her scenes combined
Dave Filoni has proven that he doesn't care about continuity as long as he gets to tell his story and will throw as many distracting nostalgic bait onto the screen to hide the fact he is willfully and gleefully shredding Star Wars all so he can get his Ahsoka fetish. He is truly Rian 2.0.
If anything, Filoni is to Star Wars what Ian Flynn is to Sonic : a narcissistic, overrated hack who only relies on memberberries, pushing his lousy OCs, and misrepresenting the core characters time and time again.
He’s been doing that crap since TCW but everyone wants to fanboy over that mediocre show.
@@jesuspernia8031 Only took some time after Lucas was out of the picture and too much of the audience held onto the hope that things could get better when that was never gonna happen.
This time though, he's been caught red handed with no excuses to save him. His luck and the goodwill given finally ran out.
The true problem isn't Rian or Filoni. The problem is the person who consistently selects these people to work on Star Wars.
@@smugplush I was fine with her being gone during Rebels. I thought that put a nice bow on her character. Now though? She's definitely overstayed her fucking welcome. Like I said in an earlier comment. I just want Star Wars to...go away for a while. I'm so sick of it. Give people time to miss it. Like, at least a decade and a half, maybe two, then if you wanna do more with SW? Be my fucking guest. Maybe this IP will learn to grow up a bit if it has time away. Doubtful though. It's currently not capable of telling any mature and intelligent stories. Just nostalgia baiting and fan fiction.
Thank-you! People made up their own head cannon in order to explain/like episode 5. There wasn't actually any kind of arc. But you can't say that or they will tell you that you're a "fake fan" or aren't paying attention.
No I just wanted Ahsoka and Anakin's reunion to make sense and be character driven. I wanted to feel a transformation; I wanted to see emotions on screen.
I should note that the concept of not all Jedi carrying lightsabers actually goes back to Legends, where the Jedi named Fay was known for never carrying a lightsaber.
Though it's not explained why she doesn't carry a lightsaber, I think it's implied that she's so good at using the force (the Force is known for extending lifespans MASSIVELY, and she's said to be hundreds of years old despite looking like she's in her 20s; on top of that, she survives being impaled in the heart for a little bit) that she doesn't really need it.
In which legends novel is that from??
Why not just use Vodo-Siosk Baas as your example of saber-less Jedi?!
And even then, it was more believable than whatever Kennedyfilm did.

I just watched The Empire Strikes back and I was in tears by the end. What an absolutely PERFECT movie. Every shot, every beat of music, every look and gesture from the characters, even Chewie and Vader with faces covered, every spaceship being moved, painstakingly 24 frames a second using miniatures, every carefully painted laser shot and sabre sweep. The choreography of the Luke/Vader fight was beautiful and told a story. At first Vader is trying to convert him and is SO much more powerful anyway. He grips his sabre in one hand, dismissively (he doesn't need a double hand grip against this kid) and also, he doesn't want to kill him, just beat him down and capture/convert him. Luke on the other hand wants to kill the murderous bastard who killed his father, but he's inexperienced, he just wails away at him, and because Vader's not really trying that hard, he gets a shot in, and Vader realises this kid is strong. His second hand moves to sabre grip; now he's serious, he's going to kick this kid's ass. He unleashes his full power, uses the force to pummel Luke and knock him out the window. When finds Luke again, he's angry now, double-handed, smashing at Luke aggressively, he wants to end it. But Luke's determination and strength make him strong; it's a tough battle. Vader swipes madly, Luke dodges and hits Vaders arm, he exclaims in pain then gets even more angry, smashes a pole, swipes Luke's puny defences away and cuts his arm off. The battle is absolutely beautiful, its poetry, it tells a story, it's not just pretty laser swords, it's Star Wars! Filoni will NEVER understand this. It's all a trope to him - pretty laser swords and jedi robes and dialogue a child could write. He's a juvenile writer. Star Wars is epic space fantasy, and it needs an adult in charge who understands mature concepts.
Finally someone with balls to praise midi chlorians understanding nuance and also criticizing in a very constructive and entertaining way great video
Idk why people hate the concept of midichlorians so much. Like, it isn't rare that a spiritual or religious dogma/concept/pratice can be explained by scientific means
As a kid I really disliked the midichlorians because I felt like it took the "mystique" and vaguely religious aspects of the Force and tried to quantify it in this seemingly normal, almost intrusive presence like a bacteria or something.
But as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate that it's fine to have something more physical like that as an explanation. I've bridged the mental gap to link the physical and the spiritual as a concept for what George was going for. Heck, in some ways it makes it cooler, because it's not just communing with the thought of life anymore, it's communing with ALL life, something universal that we can all share in, even when unknown.
I think it's fine to be able to put a number on that at this point, even if it doesn't really need it.
@@0ctopusComp1etely I get your point but midi chlorians is the only concept that ends up explaining differences in force power or why there can be a chosen one or a jedi grand master. According to the more vague logic sabine could have the same potential as yoda and I do not really buy that.
@@henriquenunes3255 Oh, I completely agree.
What I meant by it's fine to put a number on that is that not everyone is going to have the SAME midichlorians, or even be able to use what they do have the same/ effectively.
In real life people are different. In the same way that I can swim or go running, I'm never going to be as fast as an olympic medalist. And someone that doesn't have the right limbs or mental capabilities might not be able to do those things at all. People are different, and can't all do the same things.
I think the Force is the same concept, except... even more exclusive.
Which is why I also don't buy Sabine just suddenly clicking and being super capable. Maybe if they built up an internal revelation or something, and even then I don't think she should be very strong, but definitely not what we got.
@@0ctopusComp1etely correct but the differences can always be described. Muscle fiber types, muscle mass, bone density, cardiovascular capacities and the list goes on. If the force is just "something that binds the galaxy together", there is no real explanation for why there are such huge discrepancies in affinity.
“Why is any of this happening?” with the shot Saul throwing his briefcase at the wall is honestly a perfect summary of this show
There's something odd about Ahsoka's constant content look on her face.
Chopper was the only rebels character not fumbled in some way.
1:12:39 You know what's funny is that he didn't even come up with the concept of Ahsoka, it was George Lucas, then Dave ran with her character and against George's wish, kept her alive past the Purge. GL knew that Ahsoka being alive during the OT wouldn't make any sense, that's why he wanted to have her killed off. I honestly don't know why Dave is so attached to this character.
Because he "owned", her.
George co-created Ahsoka, and even then, she was long gone in EU, meaning she’s done for.
@@mazkeraid4039 wait, she never left the EU?
Mark my words people, Filoni's prepping Thrawn to be force-sensitive.
Darth Thrawn LOL
Everyone is force sensitive. It's like a participation trophy.
Timothy Zahn forbid him to do that so it's probably gonna happen. F*ck Dave.
Dave "Oprah" Filoni: "...and you get the force, and you get the force"
He can’t. Only female Chiss are force sensitive…
Andor made Mon Mothma a full-fledged, Three-dimensional character for Ahsoka to return her back to numb skull window dressing. Thanks, Dave Filoni That drove me nuts when they had that scene with Luke and Ahsoka. They'd have so much to talk about and connect over and could help each other get through some pretty heavy emotions and trauma. Instead, we were shown a scene with them making small talk like two strangers waiting for the bus. The Nightsisters really bug me In the original "Courtship of Princess Leia", the Nightsisters just had telekinesis and lightning. They could use it incredibly well, and incredibly powerfully, but the counter was that they needed rituals to focus enough to do it, and it took a massive toll on the body, causing constant bruising and broken limbs (the term nightsister coming from the black blotches of bruising) That worked because it was a natural extension of the preexisting powers The Nightsisters here are just doing whatever. And there's nothing that kills stakes quicker than pulling abilities out of nowhere I know it's needless to say at this point, but Dave's obsession over Ahsoka is honestly pretty scary at this point. But there comes a point where pride turns into a toxic obsession. And Dave has far beyond crossed that point. In the past, Dave was held back from unleashing the worst side of his writing because he had George and others keeping him in check. But now, he's been given far too much power and he's revealed himself as the hack writer, member berries dependent he is. So much for the savior of Star Wars. 11 years of crap from Disney is the best we've got. Asoka’s plot armor is so strong that you could literally leave her in another galaxy and not worry Thrawn EU: Playing 5D chess Canon Book Thrawn: Regular chess Rebels Thrawn: Checkers Ahsoka Thrawn: Tic-Tac-Toe played incorrectly. I feel like there was a great story for Sabine right under the surface: She is so driven by revenge over the actions of the Empire that the idea of them being beaten is slowly eating at her because she has nowhere to direct her anger. She could deal with the internal conflict of using finding Ezra as an excuse to find and kill one more Imperial regiment. Ashoka could then understandably see the parallels between Sabine and Anakin's personalities and struggle to direct Sabine when she's making decisions that only serve her to find an outlet for revenge. But nah... They did nothing. 29:20 This, combined with Ahsoka's (let's charitably call it "subdued") reaction, is what killed the series for me. You would think this would be a slam-dunk - not only the characters seeing one another after so long but the catharsis for the fans who wanted to know what happened to them after the show ended. It actually blows my mind that they chose this weirdly emotionally stilted tack. And you can't say it's in the style of the OT: Luke was so excited to see Leia after blowing up the Death Star that he called her by the wrong name. Even in the prequels, Obi-Wan hides his Father in the show I saw him there as an actor permitted to express strong emotions. Just the most baffling decision. I knew there were robots in Star Wars. I just didn't expect every character to be one. Why are they all so freaking stoic. The butchering of Thrawn is horrible. Never let anyone but Timothy Zahn write this character. When talking about that Sabine/Thrawn scene where he "wouldn't understand," ironically the backstory of Thrawn is that he sacrificed being a part of Chiss society to protect them from the burgeoning external threats of the Empire and potential Extragalactic invaders. Thrawn knows all about sacrifice to protect what you love. Edit: This is covered in the video around 39:00 that was the funniest thing to me. Thrawn was there for the top 10 years old and couldn't find Ezra, but Sabine found him in like 20 minutes LOL. Dave resurrected Ashoka three damn times. Time travel, Mordis god life transfer, and whatever this is. Cannot express how satisfying this entire video actually was. Every single point made is exactly how I felt about the showdown to tea. I just find it really funny how a portion of the people who said Andor was “too boring and was just people talking, bricks and screws, etc” went on to act like this show didn’t just have extremely monotonous pacing in some scenes for no good reason Ahsoka is basically Dave Filoni’s waifu His obsession with her and the way he makes all of us watch as he plays with his doll/body pillow is beyond creepy 1:12:39 You know what's funny is that he didn't even come up with the concept of Ahsoka, it was George Lucas, then Dave ran with her character and against George's wish, kept her alive past the Purge. GL knew that Ahsoka being alive during the OT wouldn't make any sense, that's why he wanted to have her killed off. I honestly don't know why Dave is so attached to this character. Simple “The 1 plot on the spot is left demands it” Not damaging your characters is an amateur mistake in fiction writing, and I've seen overly precious or protected characters be trashed in so many writing workshops over the years (while getting my Master's in Fiction Writing). I keep wondering why someone like Filoni has so much power. Did he just know the right people? I know so many writers who struggle to even get paid at all for their work, and their talent is leagues beyond the Filonis of the world, who just seem to know the right people.
Star Wars has always been an allegory to real wars. It would’ve been very interesting if they took the concept of “Hell in the Pacific” movie where a Japanese Soldier and an American Soldier are the only two people stranded on an island. It is based on the importance of human contact and the bond that can form between enemies if lacking other contact. Ezra and Thrawn work together on this planet. Then when they are found, Thrawn and Ezra turn back to their old guy's ways. Ahsoka is what happens when writers write an IP rather than a story. there was more emotion displayed by how many days Ezra had been missing their Tumblr blog (and its followers) when he was found that there was from his own friends and family Among SO VERY MANY other truly awful things about this terrible, excruciatingly boring show full of character assassination, the fact that Cassian Andor and Brasso had a more heartfelt reunion after not seeing each other for roughly TWO MONTHS than Ezra and Sabine did make me literally gape with horrified incredulity. Unbelievable. 17:33 that bloody smirk. Why is she smiling at the camera? Why does she look so pleased with herself? Cause she did something "cool" or "badass"? Cause murder is fun. She looks like someone who just finished a dance routine at a talent show. This entire series could’ve been fixed had Ahsoka simply said “Me personally, I wouldn’t let that slide.”
Genuine question: how does Ahsoka dress herself in garments that are really tight around the neck? Can she remove her head-tentacles or are they just flexible enough? (Or did the costume department slap those on later?) You know what would’ve been infinitely more interesting? Sabine knows that she HAS to doom Ezra to being lost forever, to keep Thrawn away… but she fights to stop Thrawn anyway. To protect the galaxy, she has to sacrifice her friend. It weighs on her heavily. She fails. Morgan gets to Thrawn. Sabine meets Ezra. Now she has to admit to him that the only reason they’re meeting is because she failed her mission to keep him in exile. And then you know what could happen? Ezra could tell her she made the right choice to sacrifice him to stop Thrawn. There. Sabine is still a hero and Ezra is as well. Ezra still gets to come home, and Sabine still has regrets, but her character isn’t damaged.
Not only is Sabine a Jedi, but she’s more powerful than Ezra Filoni had no problem having Hera take the kid along because he knows nothing will happen to them. Plot armor is basically just a given at this point Thrawn looks like a blue Elon Musk 😂I should note that the concept of not all Jedi carrying lightsabers actually goes back to Legends, where the Jedi named Fay was known for never carrying a lightsaber. So why does the title crawl refer to Ahsoka as a "former Jedi Knight"? When she left the order, she was still a Padawan Learner
Does it really? 😂

More like Cal alone. Who tf cares about Kyle Katarn's Mexican rip-off with the personality of a wooden plank ?

Now she's a generic emo girl and there's more Nightsisters all over the galaxy and even other galaxies. and her relationship with Cal was so forced and only happened because loser "fans" wanted it.
Cassian Andor shure does not.
Quite literally carrying Star Wars along with the rest of the Bad Batch.

The most frustrating thing for me about Ahsoka is that it took the hope that I had nurtured over the last 4 years - that Filoni could successfully make the transition from animation to live action and then vault Star Wars to a new level of excitement by bringing Thrawn back - and dashing it upon the rocks of mediocrity and stupidity. This series was such a wasted opportunity.
You actually expected disney SW to be any good despite absolutely everything so far sucking ass? That's on you, dude. I'm comfy, reading the EU still.
@@fiddlesticks7245 I expected Filoni to be able to bring an enjoyable, well written Star Wars story to live action because of his prior work - most of which was prior to Disney or because KK left him alone with animation. @@cubescihist6737yeah, in the original trilogy, the light saber fighting was more like samurai duels, or kendo. Actually realistic. All the acrobatic stuff starting with the prequels is ridiculous. In kendo and Olympic fencing, the duelists are waiting for a split second opening to strike. They aren't flipping around the space and spinning the blades like a baton twirler in a parade. An energy weapon that can cut through anything would be treated even more delicately that a sharp sword.
That’s a laser pistol. If she fired the bolt would go right through Ezra killing him on the spot. At the very best case scenario he’s paralyzed for the rest of his life and needs dialysis performed 4 days a week
Technically going to hell would be a "religious experience", too.
I'm not the only one who is worried that Ahsoka can't die, right? And by can't die, I mean because she had her life restored by the Daughter of the force, Filoni might decide this means she literally CAN'T die. Or she can, but the force is working to prevent it and will keep her alive for as long as the force wants her to be alive. She's also hugely inspired by Gandalf, who is extremely difficult to kill in Middle Earth due to reasons I'm not going to pretend to fully understand because I am not versed in LotR lore.
I think we shouldn't be surprised if further down the timeline, Ahsoka is comically somehow still alive. Maybe Rey will meet her in the new movies and Ahsoka just shrugs, crosses arms, smirks, and gives a little "The Force works in mysterious ways." and that's that.
I'm just imagining a new "special edition" of the star wars trilogy with Ahsoka inserted into the end of every scene but just missing the main characters.
When watching the whales...
I told my friend:
" why are their assholes hyperspacecapable engines ? "
What was his reaction?
You brought up what seems to be the most important part of the whole 'Sabine gains the force because reasons' that most do not. Its like training someone's hearing when they're deaf, it doesn't work. If everyone can access the force, that means there would be insanely large numbers of force users around and most of them would be darkside, since thats the quick and easy path, accessed by emotion.
But they also are managing to quickly ruin how cool lightsabers are, so whatever.
It's sad when you look forward more to the fan edits than the show itself.
I'm shocked they didn't have her say she used "aggressive negotiations" instead.
I think the "anyone can use the force" idea can work, but you need to add an asterisk. Anyone can use the force, but only "force sensitive" people can use it like a Jedi/Sith does. In other words, if you're a devout follower of the force and treat it as a borderline religion, you can use it as an almost sixth sense, almost magically walking through battlefields unharmed, etc. but the *_specific_* force abilities we see Jedi/Sith use that directly physically alter the world are midichlorian specific.
In other words, any car can drive, but only cars with a turbocharger can go turbo. Other cars may be able to use nitro, have a sick sound system, etc. but if you want turbo you *_need_* to have a turbocharger. The force may reside within everyone, but if you want telekinesis you *_need_* midichlorians. At least as a general rule, I'm not *_entirely_* against the idea of different "schools" of Force aptitude being developed, for instance "those with midichlorians can move objects without concern for their physical size, but with very specific training and mental preperation others can also learn to move items of close personal relevance and/or sentimental value" or something similar. In other words, if you want "the force to reside within everyone" you need to give some reason why it's not used.
If you make it so that the Jedi/Sith dichotomy made everyone believe in a restrictive midichlorian-dependent version of the force that, after all of the political upheaval, people are begining to question, that would work. You'd explain why midichlorians/force-sensitivity matter, you'd re-mystify the force as something still unknown and explorable, and you'd still have a solid explanation for why it's rare for someone to have/use the force since the 'easiest' method of accessing it is extremely rare and using it in another way requires a lot of self-reflection, refinement, etc. To use another analogy, if the Jedi order is MMA, the Sith are street-brawlers that fight dirty, then anyone else *_can_* fight, but they need to develop their own martial art to do it. It's *_possible_* to make your own martial art, but it's a big bloody ask that the vast vast VAST majority of people won't be able to do or be willing to.
The issue is they did *_none_* of this and just said anyone who believes hard enough can be Mike Tyson.
Midichlorians don’t demystify the force
They are basically formed in ones DNA based on your connection to the force. They increase the more you train and strengthen said connection: anakins amount is already huge because he was born directly from the force, so the work was basically all done at birth.
What qui gon was describing to anakin that 1) midichlorians are a biological evidence for a soul 2) they have a very specific cause that they aim to communicate, specifically the Whills speaking through them. Of course because yoda took up a very humanist cause maintaining the republic, it’s peace and democracy he was out of touch. Neither him nor qui Gon were entirely right nor wrong
I blame the sequels for not laying a concrete foundation for this. And it would've been perfect time to do so, as Luke would've recruited so many new people without the structure and guidance of the Jedi Order.
@@KellogsR-ny7ugI don't mind the concept of midichlorians, I just hate how you can just easily measure them by doing a blood test. That's what demystifies the Force.
I never liked the 'born with it' trope much, although it works well enough as part of the Skywalker arc. But what really grinds my gears is the way all the important people now can just daydream their way to Force power. Even for the inherently talented, it should take some kind of extra focus and training, not just 'gosh I really really wanna right now.'
My interpretation has always been that 'the Force' is a funny way for the writers to make 'the narrative' part of the universe. That's why it conveniently lets things happen in a way that makes for a more exciting story so often.
The prequels even at their worst still have a lot of great action and spectacle and can be rewatched on that level. Even detractors that love to tear apart every microsecond of them will still say something like Duel of the Fates was awesome.
What is it is about this current era of content that doesn't even have that going for it? Because I wanted to really like this show. Truly.
I've never saw Filoni as the saviour of Star Wars but he has produced decent enough content, and I figured this was his passion project, so I was willingly to give the benefit the doubt.
In the end I didn't love it or really hate it. But I'm so distraught with this franchise at this point I'm about ready to tap out.
