I love the Mercedes. The design of it is timeless. I can’t believe that they stopped making that car and started with that terrible GLC cars. Time will tell. I don’t think those will be successful for MB.
I had e190, CLK 550- cabrio, ML320 and 2015 GLK 350 4matic , so far I like the GLK the most! I like it for the compact size, yet so much room, visibility, quite engine, interior- classy style and the body shape. Every other car on the street looks alike, all very similar just different name on it ! GLK has a unique look, it's compact car looking like a sexy massive tank ! No it's not family car, if you have kids get ML or GLS, but if you want to downsize and still want to drive roomy enough and very reliable, good looking car - get GLK !
I'm drooling over the GLK. Test drove one, it was wonderful. It's both modern looking yet old school ("boxy" design, circular air vents, "analog" looking radio display). That's a match to my personality. Too bad it isn't a wee bit bigger, just a few inches would make a big difference. Also too bad they aren't made any more. I'm seriously thinking of picking one up this summer - for now I still need my truck.
I just bought a GLK 350. The 2015 model, well kept and low mileage. WOW! I am in love with it! Super fun to drive, lots of power in a small package and feels very SOLID. So glad I chose it.
@@mikeespada9220 Two weeks ago I bought a 2014 GLK 4Matic. Not a bargain, but surely the freshest one out there. With 12,400 miles, it drives like a new car, though it's actually a barely used old car.
@@wheatridger Wow! Lucky! Only 12k miles on it?! Amazing. Congrats! I am still in love with mine. I hope you get as much fun and joy out of it as I have. Lastly, I really hope MB brings back some more boxy designs in the future. I still can't get into the design language of the new MB SUVs.
Thank you for the great review. I just bought a GLK250 diesel yesterday because I much prefer the classic lines (with a subtle hint of G-Wagen envy). Also, if you remove the rear luggage cover and stand smaller luggage vertically, you will have lots of room in the back even though the vehicle is shorter in length.
I must say Thomas & Thomas are excellent reviewers ! Your grasp of the English language is superb with presenting skills to match. Keep up the good work.
I was under the impression that the GLK 250 BlueTec diesel ( realize there are two Euro models > 250 Efficiency and Bluetec 250) actually returned 5.4/5.6 highway driving and that Mercedes was underestimating there newer 4 cylinder diesel turbocharged engine. That places it in the Honda Prius category for North American MPG / L per 100km which is simply amazing for such a heavy and small SUV/Car. I like your reviews as they deal with the fun side (engine speeds/car feel) and the practical side (storage/family needs) where most reviews forget we have families and need our vehicles for moved stuff every day. Thanks/ Danke
Late to the party, I just bought a well-kept, dealer owned GLK 350 4-matic with low miles. Love it. (gasoline version 3.5L) Runs great, but will it stand the test of time? We'll see. I really liked the visual appeal of the GLK because I see so many BMW-X models here (and I find them overpriced for how common they are). The Benz is so classy, sharp and somehow sinister in appearance. I only drive about 2000 miles per year, so fuel consumption doesn't matter. Hopefully, the build quality will give it enough reliability to forgive the price of common maintenance. Thanks for a quality video, Thomas(s).
I just bought a GLK 350 as well. A 2015, well kept and low mileage. WOW! I am in love with it! Super fun to drive, lots of power in a small package and feels very SOLID. So glad I chose it.
As usual Thomas, you mention good insights in your reviews that others do not. I agree that the X3 has a higher more commanding seating position compared to other SUVs in its class.
Great unbiased review. I always enjoy your videos. I picked up a GLK 350 last year. Very distinctive among a sea of jellybean SUVs. The Japanese models are good, but cheesy and generic. Very dull to drive. The Mercedes just has that heavy, solid, quality feel and everything about it feels effortless (handling, acceleration, switchgear, etc). Prefer comfort over sport in an SUV. ;) The new GLC is very nice, but less distinctive, and the turbo 4 just doesn't feel or sound as special.
My personal experience with both European and Japanese vehicles, is that the Japanese cars are always far more reliable than the European ones. I would rather have a car I can drive, instead of it being under repair for 3 or 4 months of the year.
@@SdkFrnk While I’ve had good luck with Mercedes products, when they break, they BREAK! So I agree the Japanese vehicles are more dependable and cheaper to own overall.
Great comparison, thanks. I specially like that you included the Nissan as another option. By the way, in my country the Nissan comes with comfort access tailgate = you just wave your hand below the handle and it opens, great feature. Subscribed to your channel.
why do you say that ? interesting opinion to read. Pd: my wife has a glk diesel and she is petty happy. She learned to drive almost thanks to agility and cause is so easy to drive.
Thanks for the video - helped me find this huge compartment in the trunk of my GLK which I didn't even know was there. BTW: I love my GLK and it does come with a automatic hatch
Seeing that in my country, New Zealand, the German 5 seater SUV's start at at least $90,000 base, the prices of the Japanese 5 Seater SUV's start at around $40,000 base. That obviously makes the price gap more than twice as much (also happens for other car segments) and for us New Zealanders, we don't think you get twice as much car for the money. And that's even before considering insurance and maintenance.
Zachary Ong Thanks for the feedback, always interesting to hear the market differences. That's really an astonishing gap. Do you know why this is the case? It cannot be only the longer transport ways. With this difference, indeed it does not pay off.
***** No idea. I think New Zealand models are higher speced base but come on... Oh and with a mediam salary of low $30k's there's no hope in life a normal New Zealand is going to afford one, not even the upper-middle class.
***** In New Zealand we have a GST (like the UK's VAT) of 15% but the GST is normally included in pricings for everything unless it says it doesn't. It's even cheaper to import cars from the UK especially expensive/super cars than in here!
I am also from NZ and have just bought a new X-Trail because of it's versatility and space for my family of 3 children and a dog. I'm happy with my choice. The German premium brands of BMW, MB & Audi are expensive as they are promoted as prestige products and they can make higher per-unit profits on lower volume and high spec. VW is however relatively competitively priced. Of course depreciation is bad, after 12yrs they will have lost 80-90% of their value due to expensive spares and competition from used German vehicles from Japan.
The GLK definitely the winner here BMW is good Nissan can’t compete whit these models since it’s more mainstream but it looks nice maybe you shall have had the infinity their luxurious brand from Nissan

people like to review a top car another well known car name like the Mazda and BMW. its nice that you guys were able to add the Nissan to the review which show that other cars are not as good to the other ones but will bring something new to the table like the 360 al round view.
I agree with Thomas for all around versatility and reliability I too would choose the Nissan X trail. You’d need big pockets for that BMW and Mercedes when they start giving trouble after five years. I had a BMW X5 the money i pumped into it when it was six years old was criminal. Fuck’n heap of shit never again would i buy one.

ANDREW DUNNE In Germany, only the two small petrol and diesel engines of the X3 have _no_ xDrive, all others do. Petrol isnt too important in Germany, though, especially for SUVs.
Are You partially financed by BMW? Because I believe it's the worst car of all three regarding ergonomic aspects. I earnestly believe the ML is much better than the GLK and the X6 much better (and larger) than the X3. Is there still any Nissan Navarra, which is larger than the X-Trail in the market? Very nice review with very few English language errrors (for example "has" instead of "have"). Although You guys seem to be German, good black humour when sitting on the children seat row in the Nissan. The Japanese automakers should sponspor You through insider-trading and match-fixing.
i chose Nissan, what a joke cheep car my model is about 40000 euro with all personalities with racing box is about 189 horsepower and its realy offroad BMW x3 cant uphil climb on wet surface see top gear same shit as x5 really mercedes is better but GL is real offroad this test is little bit shitt sorry
Petr Tajovsk, actually my dads BMW X3 xdrive 28i is amazing uphill on snowy and wet surfaces we literally tested 5 times, and all five times it made it uphill without even slipping, so don't say shit when you can't afford nice SUVs like Bmw x3
Petr Tajovsky, not only that but BMW X3 is the fastest and nicest looking one of them all, also has amazing features in the 2017 model which my dad has. It has features that even Mercedes doesn't have, it is actually really fast with 8 transmissions and ours is not even the m version
Sorry, but Bmw is not good choice for me ,corect....i had a lot of cars, but Bmw .... Sorry ,my worst choice ever X6 problems with engine, auto trans etc.... 100000€car sorry shit
And now, after seeing the whole video, I would definately go for the Mercedes, since I prefer comfort over sport. I do actually want to buy a second hand one. I like what I see.

BetterThanEver lol no, I wish ;) In fact, we are totally independent. Remember we are in the compact SUV class here so ML and X6 are one above.
One or two above: because X5 is in between.
WIsh That Rouge was in Manual here in the U.S. LUCKY You GUYS!!
Jerry Wright hehe. Well but on the other hand, cars are way cheaper over in the US :)
Nissan is for very bad roads like in balkan countries when the roads have holes 🕳 so for me Nissan is very strong car for bad roads
i chose Nissan, what a joke cheep car my model is about 40000 euro with all personalities with racing box is about 189 horsepower and its realy offroad BMW x3 cant uphil climb on wet surface see top gear same shit as x5 really mercedes is better but GL is real offroad this test is little bit shitt sorry
Correct the BMW X3 is the worst of all three.
Dont know what happened with yours, but ours is perdectly fine and we have amazing customer service , wat happened to u was a very rare thing
Glk
The BMW is ugly and the Nissan even worse. The Mercedes is very beautiful.
And now, after seeing the whole video, I would definately go for the Mercedes, since I prefer comfort over sport. I do actually want to buy a second hand one. I like what I see.
Best looking - x3 > rogue > glk
All-new X3 world premiere coming up here soon !
Can you make this video any boring? 30 minutes in to the video and and still the most important part is not presented, how a car DRIVES!!!!
You maybe dont understand that exterior and interior features are very important to a lot of peope. If you want shorter videos, Subscribe to our 2nd channel with shorter reviews then: th-cam.com/users/autogefuel
@@autogefuehl I understand that but i'm first intrested in what the cars are capabile of, what engines are avabile etc. How the cars look are subjective to what each people like and the materials used can be tested by people in the showroom as again, people might perceive some materials differently.
you can always scroll to our drivings parts of course!
All our videos follow exterior - interior - driving scheme, so easy to follow :)
Chinos and a brown belt
Nothing worse and more partial than a German judging German cars... Do you really think, after the VW scandal, you are still the best around? I don't think so...
