    Thanks for the video...useful for everyone. But one thing to note is this shield bracket should fit Rebel 1100 as is...one should not bend the bracket. As I found in my install on my Rebel 1100, if the holes don't line up then you just have to shift the bracket a bit until they line up (so don't fully tighten the bracket bolts until screen is on then tighten). After riding with it a couple of weeks it is a great windshield.

    Yup I can totally relate with the wind turbulence on highways. I was scared to ride any faster than 70mph because the wind was driving me insane. Can’t wait to get a windscreen and try going on a busy highway again.

    Thanks again for another great video. It would be nice if it could be a little closer to the headlight. Puig claims they should have 1100 screens out in the fall or early 2022. • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you NF! I appreciate it! The torque settings can be found in the service manual, it is of utmost importance to make sure we torque everything to spec, otherwise we risk damage or even worse like the screws falling out...... Vibrations are the worst enemy for screws and bolts as they will inevitably loosen them, that's why it's important to always check critical bolts on the bike often. Using medium strength thread lock definitely helps in preventing screws from backing out.

    Like you I would like to install the batwing from Honda. I have installed the 3" risers as per one of your previous videos (again thank you for that) but it looks like after spacing the instrument panel forward approximately 2 inches to accommodate the installation there might not be enough clearance for the fairing. Looking at the side profile pics from Honda the fairing angles back and might interfere with the instrument panel. I really like the way the Puig mounts to the bike and I look forward to one specifically for the 1100. Thanks again for an informative video

      Thank you Ron! I'm delighted to hear that you installed the 3 inch risers, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it! I've seen some close up pictures of the batwing mounted and I think there might be a way to make it work with the risers, I'll definitely be doing an install video of the batwing and will show how it relates to the risers.

    • @ronchapman1958
      @ronchapman1958 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ontherebel11 The 3 inch risers make it a much more comfortable bike. I am even shorter than you - 5 ft 3 inches! The risers take that leaning forward position,which is really uncomfortable, out of the equation. Don't really know what Honda was thinking. What's ironic is that I've been riding Goldwings for the last 25 years and they fit me like a glove without any modification. I thought the 3 inch risers might be too much but they're about perfect. An added bonus is that I have mounted my GPS in the middle of the handlebars with my RAM handlebar mount.
      With the batwing mounted the headlight is already recessed in the fairing quite a bit. Perhaps you were thinking of spacing it out to accommodate the instrument panel now that it's forward 2 inches? I look forward to seeing your installation.
      I have ordered saddlebags & frames but my dealer is not optimistic about a shipping date. Same problem with the fairing.
      Once again thank you for the videos they helped a lot.

    Are you certain your hardware isn't bottoming out because the pinchbolts are different lengths between the 500 and 1100? I started to swap this screen from the 500 to the 1100 for my wife, but quickly realized it wasn't a good idea as the bracket was not being properly clamped even at the correct torque.
    This is not the type of thing you want to mess around with IMHO.

    • @raceboy1971
      @raceboy1971 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ontherebel11 I'm referring to rhe bolt bottoming out in the hole because it's too long. So while you may be getting 16 ft lbs of torque, you're not getting actual clamping force on the fork tubes.

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just double checked, with the spacer and the thickness of the bracket, the bolt supplied is 3mm longer than the original pinch bolt. A couple of washers will take care of that, or a longer spacer or possibly a bolt shorter by 3 mm. Good catch my man!
