Another thing about the windshield. I can hear the engine, exhaust and gear shifting much clearer now. I like to hear the mechanics, to keep tabs on any changes in how it sounds.
For those of you asking about price, you should know that at least in California, no one is discounting the 1100 - in fact most are up-charging in the $850 - $2,195 range. They are so rare you are not going to get a deal. $9299 + $450 freight + $1,000 added dealer makrup + around $1,000 tax + $300 license + $85 doc fee. Expect to pay around $12,000 OTD
I was lucky enough to get one of the first here in the Tampa area about a month ago and was glad the dealer didn’t ask above sticker. Mine is the DCT version and after all fees/taxes/etc, almost exactly $12K OTD.
I'd bought this windshield after seeing your video and just completed the install. Thanks for your very clear instructions; glad to avoid the frustrations you encountered. Have already taken a few freeway rides, it's really made a big difference.
Merci beaucoup pour votre retour sur le produit. C'est très sympathique de nous dire votre ressentiment... continuez c'est avec plaisir que je regarde vos vidéos. Ride safe
Finally installed the windshield. I didn’t cut the bars and the final install is a bit higher than yours off the headlight. It looks like at my height the wind will miss my i30 visor and hit the top of the helmet. I very much appreciate all the great advice.
I also installed this same windshield but it kept coming off at the shield part (round/ball) regardless of how I tighten the screws. I finally used Gorilla glue to keep it in place. Also, at 70+mph speed (1-2hrs on the freeway), the shield bends or lifts towards me. I decided to put two holes on the bottom (using a pocket knife) and tied a 550 cord above the shock absorbers (10 min job). That seem to have helped. Went on a 75-80mph trip from NM to AZ and it held up well. Just sharing...
Thanks for the info. Most of my riding has been 45-65. I did end up cutting the rods by about an inch to lower the angle of the windshield. The top was splitting my vision and really bothering me. All good now. I did tighten the ball screws quite a bit. If there is ever a Memphis shades made for this bike, I’ll probably switch so that I can snap the windshield on/off the forks. Nice idea with securing the bottom of the windshield!
I have ordered the Honda fairings but it’s on back order. So, the waiting continues. In the meantime, this windshield works but noticed that the 550 cord is rubbing on both sides of the headlight casing. I’ll have to find a way to remedy that before it starts rubbing off the paint.
@@JeffKasson well, I also ordered the left/right rear brackets to hold the saddlebags (which has arrived but the brackets are back ordered). I had a trip this weekend and needed a tying post for my duffel bag as I don’t like using a backpack on long trips. So, I looped a 550 cord on both left rear bracket bolts (did the same on the right side) as a bungee cord holder and it worked. Wish I can send you photos.
Just reading this (7/024) - On your first service the dealer probably reinitiated the dct transmission. If you know the sequence you can do it yourself. Makes everything nicer.
Glad to see people start customizing their new Rebels, the headlight shield also looks pretty good, you should wait for the aftermarket counterpart to come out and buy it, it would look good with that new windshield

@john that sounds like the right one. Install both clamps next to the instrument cluster with the rod inserts facing away from the cluster. The clamps will be pointing down and a little forward. Tighten everything just loosely, insert the rods, put on rubber rod end caps, position windshield, tighten handlebar clamps, then tighten ball joints on windshield. That’s it.
@john yes - please let me know about the windshield. I think it is pretty nice. If you get stuck with the mounting, let me know. It would be great to meet up and ride someday. I’m hoping there will be a rebel group someday in our area.
Great bike that I am considering. If I get it, I'd rather like a sissy bar. Someone will make one. Good for strapping luggage to. I don't like the windscreen at all, but each to their own.
I don’t recall using any spacers. The clamps were direct plastic to handlebar. I did end up cutting about 3/4” off of the bars to lower the height of the windshield. I’m a short guy.
@@JeffKasson Maybe the spacers are an addition. They are made to fit within the clamp. I will try them both. I’m 5’9” I will try the windshield first without cutting posts. Hi Pat - I’m looking for the service receipt. I don’t know what the second filter is. The mechanic said that he had to replace two filters on the first service of this model.
@@patklaus2237 Hi Pat - I found the answer on QuasiMotard's youtube channel. There is a filter for the engine oil, and a filter for the DCT transmission oil.
Do Not, i repeat, Do Not. Wait 8k miles to change your oil. That would be 7400 miles . "Oil is cheap, engines are expensive," Add a top case, you'll never regret it.
Here's the simple truth...you likely aren't gonna put enough miles on a bike to blow your engine in the time you own it...so if you rarely change oil you will likely be fine until you pass it off to the next poor unsuspecting person.
Hi guys... brand new rider here. Would any of you consider this Rebel 1100 DCT a good starter bike? I have some minor grip issues with my left hand, and this SEEMS like it might be good for me. But again I’m brand new to the sport. Is this too much bike for me as a beginner? Thanks a lot for any input. I appreciate it.
I think if you put it in rain mode for all riding for the first year or so, it would be fine. Getting the DCT would make the adjustment easier. This bike is very quick in sport mode, to the point of being frighteningly fast.
I traded in my scooter, so any price I give you will not be a clean picture of the actual price/value. I’d recommend calling around. All the places I called gave me a verbal price on just the new bike. And they were surprisingly different.
@@JeffKasson Thanks it just looks strange. Your connections are on the flat surface but revzilla has connections lower where the plastic bumps out (closer to the headlight). Hope this is clear.

Definitely shop around. In SW Florida, one dealer was $2000 above another. Kind of shocking, really

Did the windshield make any difference on wind noise in your helmet? If so, perhaps you can provide the puig number?
Do you get any wind buffering between the headlight and the bottom of the windshield at highway speed?
